Comment: A lesson we need to learn. Even though the wheel may be broken in some parts, we need to stay in touch with our culture, our heritage and each other.

Comment: I'm glad to see O looking at these issues...Native Americans seem to be the forgotten people...I'm sure most of us can claim part ancestry to native peoples...I went to Asheville NC not too long ago...It seems like my Great-Grandmother who was part or whole Cherokee owned some property in the mountains..

Comment: Boot, for real. I'm part Blackfoot Indian on my dad's side and I just looked at my mother's family tree the other day and we started the tree with Native American ancestry, so I have to find out which tribe on her side.

Comment: This should be a fantastic show, the PowWows are so much fun. I went to one when I lived in Califorina and one in New Mexico. The people were so nice and welcoming and are so proud of thier history, anyone who gets a chance should attend one.

Comment: >Boot - I agree. They do seem to be the "forgotten" people of this land. Everybody else here fighting over what they "claim" belongs to them, etc, etc, and we never hear from the Native Americans at all. Big propts to O.

Comment: Gurlfrand, because the Native American is quietly going about his business trying to build an empire. The cigarettes, the casinos, etc. They are sticking together, what we should be doing, next time you look up, they will be a quiet power and done snuck up on their oppressors and did the damned thang. You see how they challenged Donald Trump and had him back down.

Comment: EdnaMae, I'm also happy to see that Oprah is putting on spotlight on Native Americans. I attended the Stanford Pow Wow last year. It was quite an event. So much pride and dignity. The pueblo in Taos, New Mexico is a place I've visited a few times...sacred land...very spiritual. I love going there.

Comment: EDNAMAE>I bet that was a beautiful thing. glad you had a lovely experience. it's a beautiful thing when we discover and experience cultures that are rooted to our own. Big ups to Oprah on this one.

Comment: O God forgive me! Today I visited the Madam CJ Walker movie theatre here in Indianapolis where as a child many moons ago, I rooted for the cowboys to kill the 'savage'Indiana many. If I only KNEW that I got the savages confused and was rooting for the wrong folks. My niece is Apache and a pediatrican practing in NYC. Be careful folks bragging about your Indiana ancestry, because a lot of us feel you may be trying to "moon walk" away from being African-American. I am an African-American descendant of the Fantee people of Cape Coast, Ghana. Don't know about no Indiana blood.
