Comment: This is an odd article. I would not expect an artist to put another artist's dirty laundry out there, especially when he's working with him.

Comment: Quest has some valid points but this all hype. My gut tells me this concert is being recorded for a release and the concern is that there is only one shot to get it right. JayZ does not own the master to the original release of this album -- Damon Dash does and it was a major sticking point of the dissolution of that partnership. I was at the concert the night R. Kelley imploded in NY and Jay pulled it off on the fly -- so much so that I went back for the second night. This Sunday night at Radio City is the hot ticket in town.

Comment: The first album was released by Jay And Damon. Damon put up the money to record Reasonable Doubt -- not Jay. Jay owns his percent of the raps he wrote but not the music or the samples used. Just because you own a label doesn't mean that you own all the masters.

Comment: I don't thing ?uestlove is putting Jay's business out there... or dissing Jay for that matter. I wish I knew why ?uest was discussing the concert... but I think his just voicing honest and real concerns. But in the end, Jay is one who "raps on the fly" so as someone said as long as the beats are tight no one is going to be concerned about the lyrics.

Comment: I don't understand. I bet like everyone else Jay-Z knows the words to every song that comes on the radio for hours, going back to childhood and before even, and he can't remember he lyrics to his own?

Comment: First of all why would he forget the lyrics. Do they think we are dumb? They make it seem like he "RETIRED" 10 years ago. Hello!!!! He was just on tour a year and a half ago. What happened is this. Jay opened up his big mouth (pun intended) about taking Cristal out of his lyrics. He doesnt have enough time to rewrite some of these raps and memorize the new lyrics in time for the concert so they are letting you know in advance that there will be telepromters. He knows that the sight of the promters will bring out negative comments from reviewers.

Comment: yunvme-you (and others on this site) speak as if Jay has dedicated entire songs to Cristal. I have all his CD's. He drops the name on MAYBE 5 songs. as for him having a teleprompter, who would care. its not like he is lip-syncing.

Comment: yunvme- Do you actually think a guy who writes entire songs in his head within an hour would have a problem changing 1 line of a song within days??? just think about it.....

Comment: yunv...I you wrote as many lyrics as Jay-Z I would assume that you would forget them to. Forgetting lyrics is not limited to just Jay-Z, it happens all the time. Giant...don't even trip, I have 'em all but one. You know, as well as I do, what Jay is capable of. If he, being the lyricist he is, can't change the words in a couple of songs...some'n is wrong w/that. Hell, he could replace it "mary had a little lamb" and I'm sure it'll be tite. Waddup AL...u know how the PAHP's (People Against Hip-Hop) are!

Comment: maybe I didnt make my point clear (as usual) but I dont doubt his skills. I've seen him live and he was great. I'm saying that he will be changing lines here and there in SOME of his songs and in order to not get tongue tied he MIGHT have a telepromter. No shame. He's human. His "Fans" need to get over their god complex.

Comment: herbs dont even go there with the PAHP. I bought my first hip hop record when you were...ah forget it. Lets just say I'm old enough to know and young enough to still be down. Excuse me if I dont live and breath hip hop. Thankfully I've been exposed to great things in life so my world doesnt revolve around it ( not that yours does).

Comment: yunv....live and breathe hip-hop? Only people in EUR land believe that. Because I defend it when appropriate doesn't make me a fan. Now if you were talking about being a fan of something/someone... then...well.. I don't even have to say who she is. THAT's a fan. I would defend jazz (which i really am a fan of) the same way.

Comment: Jay won't need a teleprompter for the one, maybe 2 sentences on all of "Reasonable Doubt" that mention the word Cristal. Shoot, he could really just not say the word and keep flowing, who would care? As far as him forgetting lyrics, who cares if he does, his fans will still know the words. The man has 10 years worth of albums and 10 years worth of songs stored in his head. Actually, once he gets on stage it will probably be like riding a bike -- it'll all come back to him when his adreneline starts to flow. I have all of his CD's and at one point in time I knew all the words. If I can remember I'm sure Jay can. Anyway, like I said, if he forgets a line or two I'm sure the audience will know it. (BTW, I've seen Patti LaBelle perform and she ALWAYS forgets lyrics. It doesn't make me love her any less, it just makes me sing louder).

Comment: Hov knows his lyrics. ?uestlove better worry about his own marginal talent and keeping up with Jay Z as he spits the lyrics perfectly.
Hov is always going to do everything 100% and I'm sure the concert will come off without a flaw.
It sounds like pure hatin' to me.
