Comment: That is a shame. Hopefully, the Higgins kids will get justice. They've been through so much already.

Comment: I am willing to bet the host family was white. It is in their nature to be slithery, sneaky, lying bastards. I hope these kids prevail but if it was yt, what did you expect?

Comment: Wow, I thought the couple got the house b/c they took these kids in. Then after they got the house, they kicked the kids out? I think ABC should have been able to help them based on those facts. I hope these children win HUGE. BHB2> I am willing to bet they are some shady, lying azz crackas too.

Comment: I will beg to differ here - as much as I hate to admit it, this sounds like something black folk would do. Once the camera stops rolling - "pack up and be out, byotches!"...Jeez!

Comment: The folks are Samoan I think. I saw that show and the only reason that family received that house was because of the five Black children they took in. Sounds like a setup to me all along because they had alot of other relatives around and now it sounds to me like they wanted those extra rooms for their blood relatives rather than the children. ABC is full of shyt bigtime!!

Comment: Winn30344 beat me to it, but I just looked it up and the Leomiti's are indeed a Samoan-American family.

Comment: The children did not own the house and I'm sure the Leomit's didn't sign anything stipulating that they had to take the kids in forever...

Comment: That's a sad situation for the Higgins' children, but ABC has nothing to do with this. "Extreme Makeover" made a deal with Mr/Mrs Leomiti to rebuild their home to accomodate their 2 children and the 5 Higgins kids -- but 4 months after the house was finished, all of the Higgins systematically left. Now the Higgins' are suing ABC claiming ABC promised to build them a home. While it's unfortunate, they got "screwed" by the Leomiti family, not the network. I think the ABC lawsuit will get thrown out. What's worse, even if they sue the Leomiti family, they'll get nothing there either, because the Leomitis were not legally obligated to "take them in". Either way the Higgins' kids lose.

Comment: I feel for this family but I think their time/energy/money would be better spent doing for themselves at this point. The family that put them out - you reap what you sow...

Comment: ABC definitely has something to do with this. They chose this family because the family stated they were taking in their neighbors children who were left orphaned and the house was crowded. The workers that helped build that home built it on the premise that these children would be staying there. As they always do; they make the rooms specifically for the occupants trying to incorporate their needs into the design. For this family to then kick them to the curb is wrong and ABC needs to do right for these children. This family not only received this new home they received money for these children's college funds, etc and money to help pay the mortgage. This is straight up fraud and I still believe this family knew all along what they were going to do.

Comment: There are number of things possibly going on here- possible third party beneficiary claim(abc expanded Leomiti's house for the benefit of the Higgins), fraud on the part of the Leomiti's (lied about keeping the children to get the house), unjust enrichment on the part of the Leomiti's, maybe even breach of contract on the part of ABC regarding the Higgins- it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Comment: I agree with Brandon. Going after ABC is all about going after deep pockets.
So for those who are that ABC is at fault you are misdirected. The renovations were done to the Leomiti's home. They have no legal leggs to stand on. If anything, the kids should have got something in writing from the Leomiti's family.

Comment: CrzyLdy16,
The way ABC gets around unjust enrichment, at least the last I heard, was to officially rent the house for a week and having clauses that stipulate that improvements can be made.

Comment: You probably won't see this but i'm not misdirected and know exactly what i'm talking about. As far as deep pockets..the family of 5 ranging in ages 14 to 21 were just orphaned. To even suggest it has something to do with "deep pockets" is disgusting; you need to get re-directed.
