Comment: Stop dragging his earthly remains around like a side-show!! I think this is disrepectful. Clue me, please did tupac have anything to do with So.Africa? What's the next stop? Six Flags? Thank goodness the man's soul is already with our Father.

Comment: damn they still got his ashes come on now

Name: shulamite
Comment: lol re "six flags"...

Comment: I think it is great to spread his ashes in Africa. We knew only one side of him and they know him. The Soweto uprising was one of the bloodiest fights for liberation by black youth in ALL of African history. He did not live his life in a conventional way, why should his death be any different? Who knows they maybe caring out his wishes? If you don't know about Soweteo read http://www.ccds.charlotte.nc.us/History/Africa/04/kist ner/kistner.htm

Name: shulamite
Comment: How does a life dedicated to gang violence in any way support the cause of those students in Soweto?

Name: Dovelyone
Comment: andryce76: I was thinking a similar thing.... I mean, can a brotha get some rest?

Name: HoneyMack
Comment: >>>shulamite, Um, yeah, his life was not dedicated to gang violence. That was the surface and how he was largely protrayed, gotta make that money. Pac was a little deeper than that. Check out his albums, and listen to his songs, not just the ones played on mainstream radio, or pick up a copy of this Poems. BTW, NYC is teaching a class based upon Tupac. U should check it out, Look Deep B4 U Leap.

Name: TAZBABY
Comment: You are Right HoneyMack. I have Pac's book of poems and writings and he was so much deeper than his public persona.

Name: FineBrown
Comment: I love Tupac to death..but they can't keep flicking his ashes around whenever the mood hits..stop already!

Name: DCGG
Comment: LMAO @ Nightshift...

Name: Train
Comment: You have to "really" listen to the lyrics on a lot of his songs to know that for someone in his 20's he was pretty insightful about the struggle. My fav track is "White Man's World" off the Makaveli CD which is pretty deep. I think eventually he would've outgrew all of that "Thug Life" b.s. I don't know too many people that can honestly say that they had it all together at age 25. I sure as hell didn't have all the answers at that age. Pac would've been the same age as my brother who passed away two years prior and your 20's is supposed to be about trial and error.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: So Pac gets a pass? Uhm...that's interesting

Name: MidtownATL
Comment: HoneyMack and Train, I concur. In my opinion, one of the best lyracists. His words did not necessary have to "rhyme." Some artists will just say any dayum thang just so the shyt rhymes, i.e., "girls pee pee when they see me." And regarding his ashes, Afeni just trying to keep Tupac alive for as long as she can. Its probably a form of therapy for her.

Name: Train
Comment: It's not that Tupac is getting a pass because I thought "Hit Em Up" was a horrible song being that if you have a beef with somebody you settle it like men somewhere private not make a record dragging Faith Evans in it. Also I really don't think Puffy, Biggie and Andre Harrell had anything to do with him getting shot in New York back in '94. We all done stupid shyt in our 20's and I really do think he would've outgrew that b.s. as he got older. It's a shame that him and Biggie are gone because hip-hop has suffered big tyme and the talent level is very low in my opinion. The glory days of the late 80's to mid 90's will never be duplicated again.

Name: HoneyMack
Comment: >>> Train, so true, so true. just like his song, "Holla is Ya Hear Me"

Name: HoneyMack
Comment: sorry, "Holla IF Ya Hear Me!

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Oh! So it's just the most of his lyrics and his public image were positive enuff for him to get a pass? Oh ok..well at least that makes sense.

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: Train > There are NO rules to beefs or when you answer a beef. If you listen to Hit'em UP, Tell me that it doesn't sound like that brother was %*$!ed. I could visualize the veins in his neck, before the video was shown. It was if he had just read something in The Source or Vibe that %*$!ed him off.

Name: YLawdY
Comment: "And regarding his ashes, Afeni just trying to keep Tupac alive for as long as she can." Keep him alive or keep making money?

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: Pac doesn't need a pass. This was a pretty intelligent brother. Some of his actions were misguided which he mentioned in interviews. I thought the family already had the ceremony to spread his ashes.

Name: YLawdY
Comment: I like Tupac. I don't like the continued money making off his "image". Now it's not the making of money that bothers me, it's how we're supposed to overlook this as a money making enterprise even in death and pretend that Pac brought higher elevation to mankind. Make your money and quit trying to deitify him. Let the man rest.

Name: Priceless
Comment: Is it just me or has no one else ever heard of somebody's ashes being spread in multiple places and different times?

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: These are "excuses" that we should keep in mind. Price..no ur not the only 1.

Name: Priceless
Comment: Train, I can honestly say that although I didn't have many answers to shat at 25, I wasn't running around actin da fool either ... Tupac was an excellent lyricist, nothing more IMO

Name: streetdancer
Comment: Damn, will the Black Elvis ever die and be gone. Why are we as a people still making this idiot a hero like he's Jesus Christ, Malcolm X or MLK ? Africa needs food, water and new leadership, not the ashes of a fool that help promote black on black killing. First Tookie, now Tupac, who's next, Star Jones ?

Name: Quietstorm
Comment: Please no more Tupace and no more Biggie! Just let the brothers rest in peace.

Name: Gemami
Comment: 'Herbs, I'm surprised that you think 'Pac gets a pass. He doesn't, he had his negative side, but lyrically he was deeper than that. I believe, like someone said, that had he live he would have outgrown that "ThugLife" persona. I personally saw him as a brilliant actor and his death affected me because we lost such a young talent. Anyway, I agree, they need to let him rest in peace. All of these CDs with people he probably wouldn't have collaborated with and now spreading his ashes on the 10th anniversary of his death is disrespectful.

Name: Priceless
Comment: Gemami, I believe musb was being sarcastic with that pass statement ... thanks for reminding me about the acting though ... he was good in a few things that I had a chance to see

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: YLawdY > How can she make money by spreading his ashes around?? This is a Black Panther sister. They believe Africa is our homeland.

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: By the way.... Elvis Presley Estate (family) makes 50 MILLION dollars a year off of his name. Marilyn Monroe is a business which pulls MILLIONS for using her likeness & movies. Bogart, Jimi Hendrix, Three Stooges made about $50 something dollars a month but their likeness make MILLIONS now! Tupac Shakur name is a business with copy right infringements. Tupac wasn't married, so his mother has the RIGHT to preserve his image the way she sees fit.

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: streetdancer > I think Quincy Jones said it best. Tupac didn't live long enough to turn it around like Malcom Little had the chance. Malcom was a pimp, hustler etc but he had a chance to turn it around. And we celebrate him not for his wicked ways or faults, but for his greatness! One luv...

Name: RyTay27
Comment: ..Lbird,,, Well put!!!

Name: MOTHERSHIP
Comment: Thank you, Ladybyrd. Also, Pac was multi-dimensional so all this one track, ain't supposed to shyt don't work with him or me. He wanted to be free in life, but life wouldn't allow it, that's why he couldn't stand it here. So, spread his ashes where he can be free and where it was significant to him in life.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: lol...GEM..that was PURE sarcasm. Hellz no he get's a pass. If we were to measure a man by his works NOT words, Pac was def a sore in our community.

Name: KayKay
Comment: Y'all have me over here rolling ! The Black Elvis thing is the funniest (because you know he's living in Cuba LOL). Nightshift, i really hope they don't put him over by the waterpark in Six Flags. That could get a little messy. Maybe they'll put him over by the Two-Face. It would be kinda appropriate. I have mixed emotions re: Pac. It's kinda like R. Kelly (musically) being able to write something as beautiful as "I Believe I Can Fly", and then turn around and write "Feelin' On Your Booty". We all have a dark side to us, but Pac's sides just seemed so dramatically opposite. I just wish he had never messed with Death Row. Perhaps things would have turned out differently in his life. I hate to say it, but like musb, i can't give him a pass.
