Comment: You talk about the positive side of being in a stepfamily. It is probably calm because the mother of your stepchildren is deceased.
You should do a part two of this article discussing the conflict which so often occurs between the biological mother and the stepmother.

Comment: That is just what I was thinking. I have a step-daughter and she lives with my husband and I and we also have a toddler. My step-daughter's mother and grandmother live in a different state. The bio-mom and I don't have a problem, but I do notice that there are 2 different views when it comes to child upbringing and teaching moral responsibility. When she visits her family in the other state I find myself having to decode her when she comes home because what is acceptable there may not be acceptable in my home. Now that is reality.
