Comment: This is so focking wrong it makes me sick. This isn't entertainment!!

Name: Renetta
Comment: Well thanks MTV racist pig mfs, thanks Snoop and all the other fkd up rappers for opening the door to this type of crap with their lyrics and thanks to all the skeezers who allow themselves to be degraded. Black people where are we going?

Name: CoCoCaramel
Comment: I co-sign with Taz and Renatta...This is disgraceful and it should not be classified as entertainment it's offensive and degrading...When are we going to stop selling our souls to the devil for the almighty dollar... (shaking my head in disgust)...

Name: NJBLKGUY
Comment: Because it's on MTV, it's racist? And when similar garbage is BET, what is it then?

Name: MrsPhoenix
Comment: NJBLKGUY, it's racist whether it's on MTV or BET.

Name: khufu
Comment: well then have they protested against BET MRSPHOENIX and, in addition to that, have they protested against the music videos that depict Black women as hoes, sluts sexual objects, pieces of meat, eye candy, etc?

Name: NJBLKGUY
Comment: MrsPhoenis-it's distasteful and offensive whether it's on MTV or BET. I have never heard it called racist when similar shows air on BET.

Name: khufu
Comment: also, if Snoop is doing his own Voice Over, then shouldnt he be held accountable for his participation?

Name: khufu
Comment: RENATTA....check this out...........http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story .php?storyId=5618023...if you cant cut and paste then go to www.npr.com and type in "Juan Williams on African-American Victimhood."....then check out the series and the other stories related

Comment: WTF?...This sh1t sounds like an episodde from the twilight zone.."Making Degrade"...Maya Angelo has a poem "Still I rise'...but sh1t, sometimes you can go too dayum low and you get stuck in the mud...

Name: HoneyMack
Comment: Actually is Jason Alexander (the short, fat, bald guy from Seinfield) that does the voice. Thank the Heavens Snoop didn't do this. MTV probably pitched it to him. However, if we remember Snoop did have 2 women on a leash when he attended a MTV awards show, so its his fault for putting it out there and our fault for not protesting his @zz then and thustly allowing MTV to think that it is ok and cool. We are our own worst enemy!

Name: Platinum
Comment: I find it to be a disgrace, foolish and embarrassing that so many black women have allowed themselves to be sucked into this type of image. And what was that I just read about Flavor of Love, should we really be surprise at what we see on the idiot box these days? I agree with NJBLKGUY if MTV is racist then what is BET who push the same garbage around all friggin’ day long.

Name: 2ndChance
Comment: from what i have seen of this show it has taken blows at everyone, not just black women. not my cup of tea as far as animation goes. umm anyhoo what are korrkuka wings or whatever you all were discussing last week? lol

Name: Ho_Lee_Mackeral
Comment: It's funny how art imitates life eh? Then we're sooooo offended when the media shows how we portray ourselves. It's a double standard just like using the "N" word. Why put it out there if you can't stand to see it come back (like a boomerang). The blak race has become a caricature (as in "wit") n. : a representation of a person that is exaggerated for comic effect. People and cultures around the world percieve the USA Blak person as a Lazy, Thieving, Getting High, Robbin', Killin', Rapping, Promiscious, Illerate, Basketball Dribbling, Watermelon Eating, Grill Wearing, Prison Bound group of people. in general. Most of this perception is from what they see on BET and MTV which are global networks. I say this because on a few occasions out of the country I've been to farway lands who NEVER seen a USA blak person (that wasn't in the military) My interaction and conversations with them showed me that this is how they believe WE ALL ARE..... (some admitted it before I left)

Comment: who the fook were the two women who Snoop had on leashes at the awards show?

Name: Angel
Comment: Ummmmm.....didn't Snoop actually show up to an awards show with the usually characters (Pimp Don Juan) and 2 women on leashes?!? This is art imitating life. If you want to get mad, get mad at Snoop (and the 2 dumbazz chicks that allowed themselves to be placed on leashes) because he's the one who actually did it.

Name: Angel
Comment: Honeymack - I didn't see your post before I posted. We are on the same page.

Name: MistaO
Comment: You know, this is another in a long list of examples of Black people not only being the targets for contemptuous attitudes and behavior, but also shows the willingness of some black people to be complicit with this type of behavior. Especally towards our women. Some of you have made some excellent points and to be candid, just look at the behavior of those wom (0oops!) females on flavor show. You know most of those broads have children at home and still slutting it up. Just saying how sad and pitiful it is that at this late date, we STILL flat out refuse to honor the memory of our Ancestors and the price they paid by not carrying ourselves with dignity and respect. It's all bout tha parrrtay! But then let me stop before the "I don't judge nobody" crowd jumps out. What eva man.

Name: ss69054
Comment: I sometimes wonder if this cartoon or series was on BET would people still get offended and call it racist. Anyhows, I would guaranteed this same dialogue that would be on BET, a bunch of guys would be in the room rooting for the Snoop-like character and slobbing over the chics and then some females hatin on the chics b/c they were not the ones with the dog collars around their necks. Sounds a little flip-flop doesn't it??? Ugh, Yes I think it is! Expect more of these type of disgusting shows about blacks. As long as we have idiots in our community who want to go forth with this idealistic nature, we will be mocked at all cost.

Name: queeniebunz
Comment: Snoop did it, y'all. Don't blame MTV for this one - and those leashed chicks. It's all him and Flava Flav. It is truly embarrassing what these people will do for money and attention. And I don't watch Flav's show so could somebody please explain that reference - did some chick do #2 on TV? Please say it ain't so...Please!

Name: Gemami
Comment: Ho_Lee_Mackeral, I was thinking the exact same thing. How can we possible get upset, cry racism and the whole nine -- especially when all they (this show) are doing is a parody of what they saw "us" (Snoop) do. I see this as satire -- it's taking something that was done to the next level -- this just shows how ridiculous Snoop's "pimp" image is and how people view it.

Name: MrsPhoenix
Comment: khufu & NJBLKGUY, I have always felt such images (whether on MTV, VH-1 or BET) were racist. Please don't include me in that list of those who believe BET is justified just because it is a "Black" channel. It stopped being "Black" way before Viacom entered the picture.

Name: HighlyFavored1
Comment: Queeniebunz - Not only did she do it, she did all over the floor and the stairs...said she had no shame. It was disgusting to say the least...ugh! My people, my people...

Name: EdnaMae
Comment: Could someone, anyone tell me whathas caused this deep bred hatred of black women? These "rappers" and thier hatred has now got most of society seeing black women as nothing but "b's" and "h*^" and open to this sort of trash and its a shame.

Name: CJazz
Comment: Queeniebunz--YES, she did do it, like Highlyfavored1 said, all over the floor and up the stairs and had the nerve to say--"it could happen to anybody!!" What a shame....ugh!!

Name: queeniebunz
Comment: Wow. Just nasty...(gagging)

Name: kady
Comment: ...all I can do is shake my head...what a disgrace.

Name: SweetieDarlin
Comment: Uhmm, excuse me but was that the cover art on Snoop Dog's first album? This is nothing new, C. Delores Tucker talked about this in the early 90s and was clowned for it, now everyone is annoyed? As long as we keep giving Rappers a pass for creating these images how are we going to get angry and disrespected when someone else takes it to the next level. We act as if we live a vacuum and all things we do are not seen and analyzed by others as " that's how we are'. Each time a rapper who puts out poor images is called on it he says he is not a role model, it should be up to the parents. Yes it's up to the parents to whenever possible keep their children from ingesting such mess, however it is the rapper's role to at least realize that these images are perception of reality to millions of non blacks (and unfortunately some blacks.) This type of stuff has gotten me off my life long stance of no censorship. The crap that's out there now from songs to video makes absolutely no sense and I think it is insulting that entertainers actually think we want this crap---OH SHUCKS! Many of us do!

Name: Gemami
Comment: HighlyFavored1, not to turn this into a Flava board -- but I don't understand (or don't want to) -- a girl poop'd everywhere -- I just can't fathom a woman doing that. However, the important question is -- did Flava keep her?

Name: Stephanie
Comment: Its no different then what we see in today's rap videos and since when did MTV care about black people? If they had it their way, nuggas wouldn't even be on MTV and BET is all about making money. Until we wake up as a people, we can expect this type of exploitation and who's going to change it??? We cry about the problems all day but what about the solutions...I don't watch BET or MTV and therefore I had no ideal this show was even on...

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: How about this. Instead of harping on men who degrade women, why not change the debate so that women can have enuff sense of "empowerment" NOT to subject themselves to such degradation. They are WILLING participants. For some reason, women believe that they have no control..when in fact you do. So, BLAME yourselves.

Name: HighlyFavored1
Comment: Gemami, yes, he kept her; even though this was after he had made the decision to keep her. She had already previously acted a fool! I still find it amazing what level,we as women, would stoop to be recognized.

Name: Angel
Comment: HighlyFavored1 - PLEASE explain the circumstances that caused a grown azz woman to take a dump on the floor like a 1 year old. I'm sitting here in disbelief. LOL

Name: SFLady
Comment: musbdherbs, I totally agree with you. That is exactly the conversation we should be having

Name: SpecialK
Comment: I blame these silly, uneducated, misinformed, triflin, gold-diggin, women!! These brothas (snoop, etc.) only do what these women allow them to do. It is so sad that these young ladies don't think enough of themselves to demand respect. DAMN SHAME!!

Name: MsFresno
Comment: AMEN @ HERBS. Why get mad at mtv or whomever. Blame these triflin women.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: Words cannot express the frustration I feel right now. I am pizzed to the highest level of pizzfullness. Jews can take it to the streets when they feel slighted or disrespected. But we (me included) have allowed such foolishness to get so out of hand that the entertainment industry will blantantly disrespect us to our face and even market it to us as consumers. This is just beyond my comprehension.

Name: Priceless
Comment: Dayum, they could leave it out of saturday morning programming for kids

Name: Gemami
Comment: Angel, I'm with you on that one. I just can't see a woman doing that. Attention is one thing but my God.... that's just plain disgusting. 'Herbs, I think blame should be shared between men and women. No one party should be more or less at fault for the images we are seeing today.

Name: FiveMore
Comment: I remember when Snoop rapped ,"I don't love them h-es." The song was catchy when I was younger but now the song is total garbage. We as women should not let Snoop are Flava disrespect us for fame and fortune. Females have all of the power.Use it for good. Put your clothes and take those leashes off of your neck. Will the real women please stand up!

Name: Priceless
Comment: musb, I agree that women should be accountable for their behavior but isn't this story about animated women, eerrr animated female dogs or something?

Name: Priceless
Comment: FiveMore, the real women aren't doing this kind of crap ... the ho's that Snoop rapped about are doing this crap ... just like the real men aren't exploiting the women, but the ni99ers are ... and for those of you who think rap music is the way foreigners develop a perception of us, what were they using to develop that perception of hookers, theives, etc prior to rap music? stop with that mess cuz that is just an excuse to blame rap for something and I refuse to believe people are that stupid ... they don't develop that image of panks based on punk, acid, or metal so they certainly couldn't draw the conclusion that all blacks are like rap videos

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Price..sho u right! Just like women speak (from experience) about triflin men through verse or just in conversation....so do men. As a male, I know and have come in contact w/females who behave in the way in which they are constantly depicted. So, to chop this up as a "male" thing is wrong. I just had to tell this dumb friend (she knows I call her dumb) about flying once again to Jamaica 2 c a man that she meant about two years ago there. He never sends for her. He has never been to Philly to c her. He never calls (she does all the calling). She's sent him calling cards. She sent him money for one of his kids (that she never met) b-day because he didn't have the money. She's been down there 7 times (one of upcoming) in the past two years. So yes, triflin women do exist as well as triflin men. BUT, as w/her, if women STOP putting themselves in uncompromising situations because the dyck is good, or the perks are good, or whatever, then men will stop taking advantage of 'em. As long as they're women willing to sleep w/us while KNOWING that we're in a relationship/marriage, knowing that we told 'em upfront that it's all about sex, knowing that we ain't go no job, knowing that we ain't out EVERY weekend w/our homeboyz till the wee hours of the morning etc....we'll keep making it do wut it do baby! Sad but true.. :(

Name: FiveMore
Comment: Snoop's image is world wide.I have heard stories of women travelling to distant countries, only to be asked to shake their a-s or perform an illicit act. I wish we lived in a world that was color blind but we do not.Where do you think those racist Duke players get the idea from?I am sure they were watching Bet's Uncut or some video on MTV.Studies have shown that teens are effected by the sexually charged music and the risky videos on t.v..We should not be judged because of another's actions but we are. "I guess that is the price we pay for being black." These are words my ederly grandmother told me as a child back in the day.She did not use the word black either.

Name: Greg
Comment: I saw Snoop at the award show with the two women on leashes, wearing see through mesh-type tops. Between the cartoon and the actual award show, the award show upset me more. That was real. these women allowed themselves to be treated that way in public. It wasn't the impression someone has about us, it WAS us. The image we project of ourselves is much more powerful than we realize. We have to stop celebrating the projection of Black people(men and women) as pimps, drug dealers, killers, women haters, and self haters. If we can't see ourselves as more than this, no one else will either.

Name: Priceless
Comment: musb, your friend is kind a dumb, heyell she very dumb ... stay on her maybe she will see the light .... women shouldn't allow themselves to be exploited but I am not giving men a pass on making it do what it do ... when peeps are talking about us taking control of our image, that means men too not just women

Name: Iluvfaith
Comment: 'Where My Dog's At' is funny as hell! That episode aint gonna hurt or better anybody (if u like to laugh--anyway!). It's damn cartoon..(ADULT)entertainment..people are so damn touch..relax or just turn the channel

Name: SweetieDarlin
Comment: Priceless I used to agree that videos weren't that influencial, people couldn't be that stupid, til I too started seeing the changes in the way people behave and heard other people's perception of US. Yes some are that dumb or living in a fantasy world that thinks videos are real. Remember we have the ability to find balance in our everyday life some people honestly don't have that. As for people in other countries they look at our movies and see how Americans are depicted. Since we are usually in an unfavorable light or seem to exist only to help white folks those images stick. A guy that I worked with from Russian told me that he knew all about African American and other people in our country, He saw American movies growing up---problem is his favorite movies are gangster movies and caper movies---WOW what an image of American life in general.

Name: TJthemilitant
Comment: Fivemore..those were Strippers at the Duke frat house..Them white boys had every right to request what they see in a B(black)E(embarrasing)T(television)uncut video since they were paying....Put them shame white boys in a regular club atmosphere where Sistas are present, and they wouldn't even ask them to dance!

Name: queeniebunz
Comment: >Musb - I agree with you about women having control over their image 100%. The problem I have with what you later said is this - why do you give men a pass for irresponsible, trifling behavior? As young women, teenage girls are told by their parents to keep their legs closed or you'll be labeled a slut. The same parents give their son a box of condoms and "wrap up" and send him on his way. The double standard that you seem to live by is the problem. That boy with the box of condoms is coming after your sister/daughter/niece who will then be labeled a slut for helping him "make it do what it do" - it has to stop. Both genders are responsible. Yes, a woman should say, "no, I'm not wearing that or doing that in your video" but the producer should keep in mind that the young woman is somebody's sister/daughter/niece/granddaughter and treat her with the respect she deserves. Remaining chaste is for both sexes - not just females. We live in a society now where sex is so devalued that there are no words for how sad it is and the double standard perpetuates that. Every generation it gets worse. Now, we have little girls giving blow jobs and taking it up the butt out of some distorted sense that oral and anal sex really aren't true sexual acts. As long as you give your son condoms and your daughter a padlock to put on her drawers, we're going to have this conflict...

Name: Priceless
Comment: Sweetie, that is my point ... if other nationalities want to get their perception from the make believe world and we both know certain movies will continue to get made we need to stop tripping off of what somebody like that thinks ... how does that Russian guy affect my daily life any way? I would hope that anyone in decision making positions has a wider net of how we are perceived based on real world interaction not entertainment

Name: Untouchable
Comment: I agree Edna Mae, in the rap world it seems there is some kind of hostility towards Black women and the rap world has become a place where negative rappers can put down their own people and feel free to exploit women and knock them down to the level of animals. What gets me, is those that justify these images as being our "own fault" or "that there are women like this". We all know that for the right amount of dollars, you can make a Black man act like an uncle tom, a white person act like trailer trash, or a black woman (or white) embarrass all other women. THIS NO EXCUSE and DOES RATIONALIZE these images being out there. It does not give record or station execs the right to put that stuff out there. Freedom of speech is one thing but when you put stuff out there that is meant to incite a protest or riot, especially from millions of people (women in this case), IT SHOULD BANNED. Otherwise, in the case of this parody, Black women will be seen all over the world as unclean and un-pure sex creatures that ought to be on a leash because they are not good for much else. What a way to give young Black girls self esteem!

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Price/Sweetie..believe it or not I agree w/u. Remember that I'm speaking as a male here and as such, you never hear of women taking part of the burden for the ills of men. In discussing the negative aspects of manhood, you very rarely hear people speak of the dual responsibility of the sexes. More often than not, it's always..."the man's fault"..."only a man can teach a boy how to be a man," "he fkd up a helluva opportunity"..."he did this/that." These (sometimes accurate) views are never paired w/the responsibility of women. Men in general are NEVER given a pass for much of nething and women are generally NEVER a part of the problem. It's our own doing. All that said, that is why I posted what I did. If there's going to be dual accountability...let it be. But not just when it's convenient for women to not hold themselves accountable for their actions or the lack thereof.

Name: SweetieDarlin
Comment: Priceless, the Russian guy has a degree from Russian and is a few steps from completing his Masters in America, you never know where people will show up, what job titles they may hold that may impact our lives. They could be teaching, working Human Resources, Social Work etc. Their perception of us may dictate how they interact with other people. Yes this situation is just the tip of the iceberg period, there isn't going to be a easy way to get this together cause in the back of my mind I still feel this shouldn't really matter and folks gonna think what folks gonna think anyway. Back to the Russian, Silly me, I thought it was a good way to learn about other countries and cultures. Our companny has a huge Russian popular that we service, they seemed interesting, he was hired to help with translations and such. I was actually wanting to ask dude about the blacks that are in Russia, unfortunately he preferred learning American cuss words and the 'black' venacular from the girls who acted more like the movies he saw (he seems to have a serious jungle fever thing going for Da GirlZ that came from the Hood.)

Name: Gemami
Comment: There’s a lot of interesting opinions. I think this isn’t a clear cut issue – but mostly do not believe one sex is more to blame than the other. Blame needs to be and should be shared. We need Black empowerment. I also believe the self-degrading images we see in rap videos isn’t new -- just technology made it more accessible. As long as there are ir “pimps” there will always be “hoes”, we just now have rap “pimps” and video “hoes”. Nothing new and just packaged differently. However, I would never blame the entire genre for these self-degrading images because for every negative we have a positive. For every Snoop we have Common; for every Jay-Z we have Talib Kweli; for every Ying Yang Twins we have Dead Pres; for every Lil Kim we have Goapele. We have positive self-affirming artist that we do not support. We do not buy their CDs. We don’t attend their concerts. We don’t demand radio and television to play their songs. I guess if we want to blame anyone for this situation we need to first start with the (wo)man in the mirror -- myself included.

Name: SweetieDarlin
Comment: Gemami, I do support all of those artist but unless people do like you are doing they won't be supported because they don't get the necessaty publicity as their negative counter-parts get and lets also face it the major buying public often doesn't have the diversified taste to appreciate such artist. I hear the younger people in my office all the time talking about "weird" artist but can list to a song like Shoulder Lean, Laffy Taffy and call it a jam. They also like that guilty pleasure of all the cuss word and nasty images because they think, "Oh they couldn't possibly be talking about me when the artist calls a woman a 'b' or a 'h'. Be by Common is a beautiful song with a beautiful sentiment, when it was out it rarely got radio play, of course Lean with it Rock with it is on every 10 minutes. I don't think we know what we really want, we want good images but the very people it effects the most won't support the change. Radios are big business and claim to go by popular polls to play the music, so that means people are deciding they want the music, same with stations that play videos, a nasty song will more than likely have a nasty video, yet people are asking for it. Think about where the positive artist are played, on stations that cater to the 30-50 crowd. I guess after a point you grown up and decide this is not what you want to see.

Name: Priceless
Comment: Sweetie, it sounds like the Russian wants to believe the worse and experience the raunchiest IMO ... Gemami, unfortunately for every positive rapper you have bout 5 who aren't so the market does get flooded with that but I still have an issue with other people equating our experience with negativity because of rap ... long before technology spread this stuff across continents negative images of us were portrayed ... people will believe what they want to believe

Name: Untouchable
Comment: Caps should say, This is no excuse and does NOT rationalize in my post. excuse the error.

Comment: BTW...uhm...uhm...uhm...has ne1 ever heard the peanut butter and jelly song. I happened upon the video while channel surfing over the weekend. Does ne1 know what they're referring to? I was so busy watching the video..I didn't get the lyrics down.

Name: HoneyMack
Comment: the only song i know is "Peanut Butter and Jelly Time" by the Buckwheat Boys. It is a kids song... i first head the song on the cartoon "The Proud Family" (sorry I got kids and nieces and nephews) here is a link: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/banana.php

Comment: I'm trying to see how Black people fit into this? I'm not remotely involved in this crap. I don't watch MTV and have no interest in watching rappers defecate or masturbate on TV. So, let's blame the actual people that are responsible for this low-rent garbage and ignore whatever color they are since it appears there are multiple races involved in the production of this junk.

Name: PgDn
Comment: Musb, I have to agree (I think I'm in agreement with you) that women raise or help to raise the boys that become men. Women set the tone or help set the tone for the home and must take accountability for the things their children are exposed to, morals and values they adhere to and the allowing a double standard for girls and boys etc. We need to actually get away from so much media exposure - TV, videos, DVDs, CDs and games that don't enlighten or help our children. Restrict what they watch and how much they watch. Buy some books - go to the library!

Name: khufu
Comment: FIVEMORE...while THEY might be influenced by the self-imposed and self-generated images of degraded Black women produced by Black people themselves...TRUST ME...white folks have always had degrading images of Black woman (and Black men) in their psyche....read about slavery my brother and sister and see how sisters were sexually exploied by white people and white slave masters......

Name: khufu
Comment: yeah sisters are wrong for degrading themselves but that doesnt mean Brothers are right in degrading them....a brother should treat a sistah the way he wants people to treat his daughter, sister or mother.....

Comment: FIVEMORE that song should NEVER have been catchy to you

Name: FiveMore
Comment: Khufu, When I was younger I thought Snoop was a great rapper. When you know better, you do better. As a grown woman, I now realize that Snoop's lyrics are deplorable and damaging to our community.I've grown up alot since the early 90's. "Can we all just get along.",Rodney King 1992.

Name: khufu
Comment: FIVEMORE actually SNoop is a great rapper just his image and material are questionable

Name: kwabena
Comment: The protest should continue and their level of intensity should be increased. Afrikan people in the u.s. are under a serious moral attack. There is no righteous justification for this garbage to be allowed to continue being broadcast on mass media. We must not forget the PIMP video remix with snoop and .50, which also depicted sistas on leashes. Let us call on the spirit of Ella Baker, Connie Matthews, Fannie Lou Hamer, Mary McCleod Bethune, Sojourner Truth, Queen Tyie, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman and all of the other warrior sisters to assist us in this fight. Come on CEMOTAP, where are yall!
