Comment: Good Tuesday Morning Eurians! It is actually 12:06am on the Left Coast and I am not sleepy and don't know why so I just decided to check to see if the Board has been refreshed. I have to comment on scary dreams, I have this reoccuring dream of a big Black Bear chasing me down my neighborhood block and I am running as fast as I can in the middle of the street screaming and no one is coming to help, I always seem to wake up before I am caught by the bear but I am tired as he11 when I do wake up.

Name: TAZBABY
Comment: On the other topic I want to comment on is about old folks and their dreams. When I was 15 and walking to the corner store my neighhbor told me she dreamed about fish and the first person she saw was me and she asked me was I pregnant and of course I told her no, well she called my Mother who took me to the Doctor the next day and Yep I was Pregnant with my daughter. So I believe in that myth cause it happened to me and also the one about the purse being on the floor. I never ever put my purse on the floor God forbid its true and I become broke. LOL ;o) Okay I am out but will return in a few hours. Have a happy day everyone.

Name: StormyMonday
Comment: Good morning! Tazbaby, I've heard people talk about the fish during a dream means someone is pregnant and also know people who refuse to put their purse on the floor. Also, the one about a woman should never by a man a pair of shoes because they'll walk out of her life.

Comment: Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!!

Comment: I've heard of all three of those myths as well. I certainly follow the no purse on the floor, if someone sits my purse on the floor I have a fit!!!!

Comment: Good morning people!..Hey TAZ, I can't stand it when someone is chasing me in my dreams! It always seems like I'm running in slow motion, and can't quite get away until I wake up!..LOL..Also I put my purse on the floor in church..Right under the pew in front of me. I fugure if I put it on the floor in GOD's house, it'll be that much more easier for him to slip a few dollars in it!..LOL

Comment: Good Mornin'.....Just a little something I picked up from Panache Report....According to O1LT.com, African-American fans continue to be outraged that Angelina Jolie is portraying Mariane Pearl (an bi-racial woman) in an upcoming film. Pearl is the widow of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. African-American groups are saying, "With talent such as Halle Berry, Thandie Newton and Jennifer Beals available, what is Hollywood's excuse for casting a white woman in this role?" The answer: Brad Pitt is producing the movie. Sidenote: I guess black director Bille Woodruff started an trend after he cast Latino actress Jessica Alba as a black woman in the film "Honey."

Comment: Sumter police arrest 11-year-old armed robbery suspect SUMTER, S.C. - An 11-year-old boy has been charged with armed robbery after Sumter police say he pointed a gun at a man and demanded money. The boy, who faces several other charges including firearm possession and drug violations, will not be tried as an adult because he is too young, Sumter Police Chief Patty Patterson said. The boy was on a bicycle when he pointed the small gun at the 50-year-old victim Sunday night and demanded money. The man gave the boy his wallet and watched as he took $60 from it and pedaled away, police said. The boy was arrested a short time later and officers found in a nearby ditch a .45-caliber handgun that had been reported stolen and 14 grams of marijuana, which the boy said he had used some of the stolen money to buy, police said. "It's awfully brazen, no doubt," Patterson said. A younger person with a firearm is sometimes more dangerous than an adult "because a lot of times, they're not thinking about the consequences," Patterson said.

Comment: This mofo needs to burned alive at the stake! Alpharetta father charged with molesting daughters Published on: 08/08/06 An unemployed Alpharetta man is accused of molesting each of his three daughters, ages 5, 7 and 12, and capturing much of it for live viewing in an Internet video chat room where he took requests from viewers, police said. Most of the abuse took place while the girls' mother was working three jobs to support the family, said police, who added that the girls were also abused while their mother slept, and at the community pool. "This isn't something we see a lot of in Alpharetta," said Det. Travis Parker, one of two investigators on the case. "It left me sleepless for most of last week," he said. Officer Justin Wilson, the department's spokesman, was more blunt: "It makes you want to vomit." Steven L. Pease, 40, remained jailed Monday on seven felony charges after being arrested last week, when his oldest daughter discovered her sisters were also being abused and told a friend's mother. The woman alerted police. Investigator say Pease repeatedly raped his oldest daughter, directed her in performances for Web viewers, and also sexually abused her pool during a game of "Marco Polo." Interviews with her sisters showed they, too, had been molested, sometimes on camera, Parker said. The older girl told police that she had been too afraid of her father — who is listed as 5-feet 11-inches tall and 330 pounds in Fulton County jail booking documents — to say anything sooner, according to a police report. Pease is charged with two counts of aggravated child molestation and two counts of incest and one count each of rape, aggravated sexual battery and sexual exploitation of a minor. More charges are possible as the FBI's Safe Child Task Force begins looking into the case. Task force members will try to decide if Pease should be charged for manufacturing and distributing child pornography over the Internet, said Steven Emmett, of the FBI. The agency will also try to track down people who viewed the videos. The Internet, without a doubt, has made it much easier for pedophiles to organize and trade material, according to child abuse prevention organizations. And child pornography is one of the fastest growing online businesses, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Name: StormyMonday
Comment: PART II: To combat the growing problem, task force members monitor Internet chat rooms that specialize in child pornography, pose as children to ferret out predators and use sophisticated technical tools to trace recipients of electronically transmitted child porn, said Emmett. It's unclear if Pease was charging viewers, said Parker, and the FBI is now analyzing his computer. The family lives in an 800-unit complex of stacked stone and Hardiplank apartments. They go for $850 to $1,400 a month, and managers and neighbors were surprised by the news. "That's crazy," said Makia Washington as she watched her three children frolick in one of the complex's three pools. "It's scary. It makes you want to watch your kids even closer. You never know who's living next to you." Complex manager Gigi Suggs said her staff subjects prospective tenants to criminal history and credit checks, and that crime is infrequent. "I'm shocked," she said. "We're a very upscale apartment community. But they say it crosses all demographics." Bob Sumner, who lives downstairs from the family, said he saw the oldest daughter occasionally walking the family dog. "She never spoke. She always would keep her head down. I thought maybe she had just been told not to talk to strangers, but now I wonder if it was a reaction to what was happening," Sumner said. "But I never saw anything that would make me think they were being abused." Sumner rarely saw the other two girls. "I hope they lock him up and don't let him out," Sumner said of Pease. "You'd like to think you could find some pity for him, but it's just not available." The girls' mother knew nothing about the alleged abuse, and she now has custody of the children, Parker said. Reached at the apartment Monday night, the girls' mother did want to comment on the case.

Comment: Good Morning everyone. Shala, I saw Hell's Kitchen. I'm glad K-Grease is gone, he was getting on my last nerve. What did you think of K-Grease's comment to Chef about having the hots for Virginia?

Name: shala
Comment: BluLuv, I thought it was jacked up how he showed a preference for Virginia. I do think she may win it in the end only because she obviously isn't ready to be a Head Chef and she has made mention of it several times. She also does poorly in the kitchen.

Name: bigchassie
Comment: RAYNE>chile, did ya get a load of gurfriend saying she paid 800 dollars for her weave? and it looked a H.A.M. lol! and what about sumphin turning out Flava's bathroom! now that is definitly straight up ghettostank! lol!

Name: StormyMonday
Comment: I watched Hell's Kitchen last night also and I don't want Viginia to win. Yeah, she has a great palette, but that child can't cook under pressure. And I guess if she won it won't matter since she'll be the Head Chef and will only have to order people around.

Name: BluLuv
Comment: Shala, I'm rooting for Heather. Although I wish that was me shopping at Sur la table (sp ?)

Name: StormyMonday
Comment: Hell's Kitchen will be a trip next week, that older sweaty guy said he didn't want to take orders from a woman. I was glad when he was voted off, I hated how he moved in the kitchen. I know this is wrong but I loved how Chef would call Sara a "cow", get moving you useless cow, lol! However, when Virginia brought her a cow creamer back from her shopping trip, that wasn't funny at all.

Comment: Chicago police officials today are reviewing the actions of two officers who opened fire and critically wounded a boy who allegedly aimed a BB gun at them near the Cabrini-Green housing complex. The 14-year-old boy, who a family member identified as Ellis Woodland, brandished the weapon about 5:10 p.m. Monday when police approached him at Clybourn Avenue and Division Street about an attempted robbery that had taken place minutes earlier, police said. The boy was taken to Children's Memorial Hospital following the shooting and remained in critical condition there this morning, a police spokeswoman said. In standard procedure after a police-involved shooting, law enforcement officials are holding a "roundtable" meeting to investigate the incident. The BB gun the boy was holding looked like an authentic semiautomatic firearm, police spokeswoman Monique Bond said. Thomas Strong, the boy's uncle, was with other relatives at Children's Memorial Monday night and said the teen is "a good student. He has never been in trouble with the law." The incident began when a juvenile flagged down a police patrol car at Sedgwick and Division Streets, near the CHA complex, and said two teens had just tried to rob him, police said. Police spokesman Pat Camden said one of the would-be robbers was apprehended nearby without incident after a witness pointed him out. He was carrying a gun of some sort that he dropped on the street, Camden said. As the boy ran, officers put out a bulletin to other cars in the area with a description of the suspect. Another car spotted the boy, who fit the description, as he crossed Division Street, toward Seward Park, and officers tried to stop him. The boy reached into his waistband and pulled out the gun, which he pointed at the officers, police said. Strong said the shooting "is a tough pill to swallow" for the boy's parents, who were with him at the hospital. Strong said the boy was shot three times. David Russell, 42, who grew up in Cabrini-Green, said he saw the boy "leaning over to drop the gun" when officers opened fire. Bond said other witnesses reported that the boy pointed the gun at officers. "We have other witnesses providing different accounts [from Russell's]," she said. "We will wait for the results of the roundtable to be completed before commenting on witness statements." No charges have been lodged against the other boy as of this morning, police said. Following the shooting, about 50 to 70 people family members of the youth gathered outside the hospital and, later on Monday night, in front of the Near North (18th) District Police Station, 1100 N. Larabee St., yelling at police over the shooting. No arrests were reported.

Comment: It was Sunday evening at her mother's North Chicago home, and Darian Shellie was among a gaggle of children at her twin cousins' birthday party. The loquacious 11-year-old was particularly insistent for a slice of the ice cream cake, said her uncle Rafi Goodpasture; she was headed to her father's house soon and didn't want to miss the treat. But an hour after she reached her father's house in the 1600 block of Lincoln Street, the warm summer night turned tragic. About 11:30 p.m., Darian was fatally shot in the head by a bullet that pierced the window in the basement where she and several other children were playing video games, said North Chicago Deputy Police Chief Walter Holderbaum. "This is a totally senseless shooting, and obviously we urge anyone with any information to come forward," he said. Witnesses told investigators that someone fired several shots from a vehicle driving through an alley behind the single-story house. Holderbaum said police have a description of the vehicle, with several people inside, but he declined to release specific information. Three shots hit the house, including the one that struck Darian. Several adults were on the first floor, but no one else was injured, Holderbaum said.

Comment: Good Morning. Policewoman accused in fatal crash FRANKLIN, La. (AP) -- A Winnsboro police officer faces charges of negligent homicide and unsafe driving of an emergency vehicle after a wreck that killed another woman and injured her, state police said. Officer Betty M. Harrell, 47, was not booked after the crash Monday because she was hospitalized, according to a news release from Louisiana State Police. She had been sent to a traffic wreck about 7:45 a.m. near the Franklin Parish School Board office and drove through a red light when she hit a 2004 Ford Taurus driven by Debra Lee, 33, of Winnsboro on Louisiana Highway 15, police said. Investigators believe that the squad car's lights and sirens were on. At least one person was taken to a hospital after the earlier accident. School Superintendent Lanny Johnson said it appeared that a truck hit a car which was leaving a neighborhood across from the school system's office.

Comment: Campbell to enter prison near Miami on Aug. 21 Published on: 08/08/06 Former Atlanta Mayor Bill Campbell must report Aug. 21 to a low-security federal prison about 30 miles southwest of Miami, Campbell's lawyers were informed Tuesday. Campbell, who continues to appeal his conviction, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison after being convicted in March on three tax counts. He was ordered to report to the Federal Correctional Institution in Miami. "He is aware of report date and he is preparing to report," Campbell's personal lawyer, Michael Coleman, said Tuesday. The order was signed by U. S. District Judge Richard Story, who presided at Campbell's trial. Campbell, convicted in March on the three tax counts, was acquitted on more serious racketeering charges. The 52-year-old two-term mayor was sentenced in June and was ordered to pay more than $60,000 in back taxes and a $6,000 fine, plus serve a year on probation when he completes his jail time.

Comment: hoNEY>> Thanks, girl! I haven't been on at night a lot, either. Its been hectic on my end lately. I chuckled when I read you were looking for Air Force One's. How about at my little cousin's baby shower this weekend, my ghettofabulous sister invited this dude who was selling Air Force One's out of his car for like $50. Girl, everybody left the baby shower to go outside! Oh, by the way my little cousin decided to name her baby girl Kendall, which was my original suggestion! (yeah) I was also told that she wanted me to be the godmother, but was scared to ask... lol Question for the board-- what is the purpose of godparents? I think the meaning has changed since I was a little girl...

Name: ImJustAsking
Comment: Lawdhvmercy< My Godparents did everything for me, and I have two sets. I think they are responsible for making sure important days are special i.e. birthdays, graduations, christmas etc. Also, if the parent dies they are supposed to take care of them, plus be last minute baby sitters etc. When my best friend got pregnant I was SO HAPPY...that she didn't ask me to be a godparent. That's one job I'm not interested in.

Name: LawdHvMrcy
Comment: IJA-- that's what I thought it was meant to be. But, I think the meaning has changed to chosing someone who can buy stuff for your child. I am not interested in being THAT type of Godmother! lol The funny thing is, she told EVERYBODY that she wanted to ask me, but she never said anything to me about it. I think she was scared or something *shrug shoulders* <Mimi> I just wanted to show you love since you were all teary eyed earlier! :) Girl, I get ignored REGULARLY on this board, but I just keep on-a posting!

Comment: HONOLULU -- An American Indian attorney is asked where she keeps her tomahawk. White male partners look past a black lawyer, assuming she is clerical staff. An Asian attorney is called a "dragon lady" when she %*$erts herself. A study by the American Bar Association that says those real-life experiences, along with more subtle forms of discrimination, are prompting growing numbers of minority women to abandon the nation's biggest law firms. "We're not even talking about trying to get up through a glass ceiling; we're trying to stay above ground," said Paulette Brown, co-chairwoman of the group that produced the study, released Friday at the bar association's annual convention. The report, "Visible Invisibility: Women of Color in Law Firms," was conducted by the bar association with the help of the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago. Questionnaires were sent to about 1,300 attorneys of both sexes, with 920 responding. Law firms exclude minority women from golf outings, after-hours drinks and other networking events, the study says. Partners neglect the women of color they are supposed to help mentor. In some cases, partners and senior lawyers disregard minority women less because of outright bigotry than because they have less in common with them and thus do not connect well with them, the study found. Firms routinely hand minority women inferior assignments--such as reviewing documents or writing briefs--that provide little opportunity to meet clients, the study says.

Comment: Fivemore< you asked could you get a pass on the membership fee. As President of this board, I answer thusly: hell to the naw! pay up. Lawdhv< I do know a couple people who are currently being used in the way you describe. The people that asked them to be godparents really just want stuff from them and that's sad. I have one friend who was asked to be the godparent of TWINS. The twins mother wanted her to throw them a b-day party that was going to cost way too much money, my friend is a college student and can't afford it. Her friend got mad and was like "but you're the godparent" I was like wtf. Clearly, she is not a true friend. HOney< Don't kick Lawdhv while she down, she'll never get a job showing up to interviews bruised and bloody.

MIMI>YES! YES! YES! WE DID THE NASTY! LOL!

Name: StormyMonday
Comment: Chassie, so that means it was good, right? I'm just asking for clarification, that's all.

Name: Idrissa
Comment: LawdHvMrcy..... I guess I see being a God parent way different. I am the Godmother to 3 of my friends kids. I took it the responsiblity a little different. I know if anything happens to them, I would step up to the plate and be the mother figure they need. 1 of them I would end up having custody of. But as a Godparent I am also another source taht the child can come to when they are scare to go to their parents. My oldest Goddaughter (15 yrs) always come to me for advise. But anyway that is what I thought being a Godparent was about. Not just spoiling the child.

Comment: Recently I went to a birthday party for one of my neighbors child. They had a cute, simple party at the Tae Kwon Do place. My neighbor had cake, soda, bottled water and 3 different types of chips. Now, she had the chips in plastic containers, so if you wanted chips you got less than a handful. I had no problems with that. When it came time for the gifts, every child brought a gift as well as grandparents, I mean this kid got some good gifts and monetary gifts as well, clothes, golf clubs, golf shoes, etc. Question: Why is it when you have a birthday for a black child you have more kids than adults and the only reason why people come is to eat the food???? No one brings a gift and if the kid does get money, you have that one drunk uncle who says "let me hold some of that".

Name: StormyMonday
Comment: What happened to "children only" birthday parties???? Ok, I know, it's not possible 'cause you might end up having to babysit because somebodies momma aint showed up.....YET.

Name: ImJustAsking
Comment: Blulove< A cartwheel is nothing, if I get some I'mma do a somersault. LOL Stormy< I'm assuming your neighbor is white as the driven snow. I can't speak for other people, but in my neighborhood white people had more family members with money. Everybody in my family was broke so they couldn't afford to give expensive gifts and you didn't expect them. In fact, when I was growing up birthdays and whatnot were never a big deal. It was just another day.

Name: StormyMonday
Comment: IJA, you are correct. However, I don't expect family members to give expensive gifts, I just want them to drop their kids off and be back when I instruct them. Why is it that a birthday party turns into their family meal? I think it just might be my crew here, child they want you to cook, and then want to pack up a damn plate. LOL, you know I got issues with people and foil.

Name: ImJustAsking
Comment: Stormy< that's what happens when your family is ghetto and you don't set boundaries. If you take that same family and send them to a party at someone's house who sets boundaries they will all bring gifts and conduct themselves differently b/c they know if they don't, they will get called out.

Comment: granted, I won't be the one driving her and picking her up but it'll give her something different to do after school this fall. She's such a smart child, I just want her to experience the stuff I had as a child. Unfortunately her mom can't really afford all the 'extra' stuff so I try to make sure she always has a smile on her face. She deserves it.
