Comment: I agree that it is time to launch a serious well orginized boycott of those beast. Let's not forget to target the billboards that inundate our communities with poisonious products. We need a drop squad for all of the sellout kneegrows on their team too.

Comment: Bless you for this, and it would be great if every black person could read it, but, it won't happen, this sort of thing is overlooked and ignored. That garabge that is being spewd globally about blacks is killing the race off and keeping the hate and negative sterotypes going full steam. No one sees the positve things that we contribute to society, just that rap crap and the ever going demeaning of black women. I for one wish BET would go off the air with that trash, and that the NAACP would start some sort of thing agaisnt Viacom and that old man who owns it.Rap "music" is worse than the crack, and in the words of that cluless diva, Whitney, is whack.

Comment: I'm not surprised at the changes in television programming. We as a race have sold our souls for a dollar. We stand for nothing that is positive for our young kids to see, just drugs and abusing our women in video, movies, etc. for a dollar. It makes me sick! And by the number of people commenting on this subject it reinforce the real fact that black america does not give a she it.

Comment: Now while the images portrayed are very negative we can't blame Viacom entirely being that nobody put a gun to Lil Kim, DMX or Keyhsia Cole head and make them appear on these shows.

Comment: The problem is we as a people keep accepting this type of behavior. It's almost like we're immune to it. We have been the butt of jokes for so long that we laugh it off and move on...but see 'whitey' they don't tolerate it, as soon as they are offended they come together and do something about it. Look at how Hollywood is kicking Mel Gibson to the curb b/c of his comments about Jews. There are director/producers that refuse to work with him anymore. Hollywood is flooded with Jews and they ain't havin' it...so until we take on that type of mindset, this buffoonery will continue.

Comment: I agree with all the comments, also I remember when Paul Porter use to be a VJ for BET before it went down the tubes. I said the other day are we really surprise at what we see on the idiot box? Anything goes and what’s mind boggling to me, I remember when the Cosby show came on the air some black people kept saying that’s not a real black family and didn’t represent black family life as though we all lived like The Evans family (Good Times). I thank Bill Cosby for not giving into the negative stereotype and showed those in doubt we can indeed be professionals and black……Train no one had to put a gun to their heads the love of money works every time.

Comment: I could not agree with you anymore. I sometimes look our our youth and want to cry. We are losing some and have lost many for sensless acts and mostly to themselves, by themselves. Our ancestors and the generations before us did not work so hard, struggle so much, suffered all kinds of harm and lose their lives for us as a people to live like this. Some of our youth are not even living - just existing without a sense of meaning purpose. Caught up in the hype that is full of lies. God have mercy on our next generation. They are growing old and not growing up.

Comment: Paul Porter - Thank You! Please keep on sharing the message. We tend to accept every derogatory depiction of us and we laugh it off. I have said for a long time now that the lowest form from our society is being highlighted and beamed around the world. Flava, 50 (yes, he fits in the same category to me), all of these people are being glorified and held up. I find it disgusting and infuriating that these images are beamed so easily into our homes and onto the radio stations...is there an escape from this? I don't think so, its just getting worse. I think because we dismiss and allow this type of imagery, it will only continue...look at the boondocks and how there is now a cartoon full of the 'N' word. People say it doesn't matter, its just a cartoon. I disagree. I just got back from Australia, where I didn't see very many blacks at all (me and a couple of others). One thing I did see as I was flipping through the channels was the Boondocks in their full glory spewing that word. I ALWAYS try to remind people that we are doing ourselves a GREAT diservice to allow this type of visual for the world to see. Sadness, pure Sadness...again Thank You Paul Porter...please keep this up.
