Comment: C'mon Carlton appeared on Broadway waaaay back in the day...He's had some vocal training...It would much, much, better if they paired non-singers with seasoned pros...It would make for better entertainment...How 'bout Ashanti with Chaka...or Ciara with Pattie...Why not Pharell with Brian...Hell, why not Janet with Aaron Neville...

Comment: This article is very vague about Alphonso's career moves, the way it reads you would think he hasn't been doing anything since the "Fresh Prince". But in reality he has been directing several sit com's for the UPN television network among his credits are One on One, Eve, and All of Us. And I agree Alphonso has had some vocal training and should not be a contestant on this new reality series maybe he is looking for a career boost!

Comment: >Quietstorm - no, his wife is not a "sista" - she is white. It's too bad that their marriage didn't work, but this is just another example of how some celebrity couples choose not to publicize their marriage, but will announce their divorce to the world in a heartbeat (Janet Jackson/Rene' Elizondo, Chante' Moore/Kadeem Hardison).

Comment: I look forward to seeing his fine short behind back in the spotlight. I thought he was a good actor (when Will Smith let up on the short jokes - yeah I know it was his show) & had a good voice from back in the Fresh Price days.
bigchassie, leave my baby daddy Tom Jones alone! :)

Comment: Who? Was he the butler on "Fresh Prince?" I guess his woman got tired of being married to a third rate "actor" and agreed to the divorce so his name could appear in the press and people would have to scurry to refresh thier minds as to who he even is.

Comment: >EdnaMae: Alfonso isn't a 3rd rate actor. He was just low key. When he wasn't on the screen he was behind the scenes. He also had a role on LL's "In the House" as Dr. Maxwell Stanton. He is a very talented.

Comment: Alfonso is a very multi-talent man. – I wouldn’t consider him third rate at all. He’s is what is considered a “triple threat” (singer, dancer and actor). Just a thought, instead of getting all of these recording artists for Dreamgirls – why didn’t they get someone like Alfono who has the proven talent to pull off a production like that. Anyway, about this show, if Alfonso is considered a non-singer who else are they going to get – Tanshina (sp) Arnold?

Comment: Yes this brother (using the term very loosely)married a "Becky" and she's gonna rake that azz over the coals!! Hell, word has it that the pink toe he was dating before her dropped his azz because as she put it, he was too white for her!! And what's sadder is that he hasn't had enough, like O.J., he'll get another one. What do ya say about a rich twenty-first century slave?

Comment: Playing the devil's advocate, a brotha can sell all kinds of drugs to his people, gang bang, go to prison, have multiple babies mommas and still get love in the black community. Let a brotha marry a white girl, and he is lower than low in the black community. And no I am not into them.

Comment: If this show does well, they will probably use lesser experienced singers the next go-round. That's what's known as "the hook"...they will get everyone interested and then it will be lame as heyell on the next cycle. Alfonso does look good in that picture though where you can't see his vertical challenges.

Comment: A coon (because that's probably what he is)with a snow bunny in the Black community is and always will be considered "lower than low" and a betrayer of his people, especially if she's not a Pamela Anderson or the like. Not my rules. And let us not forget that white folks sell drugs, are the majority of our serial killers, beat their wives (suburban spousal abuse has always been high)and sleep with their children. But with all of their ills, they still don't go out of their way to marry outside of their race, especially when they gain a modicum of success, like we do.

Comment: I always liked Alfonso and thought he was a talented performer. Personally, I think the worst thing he did was play second fiddle to rapper, Will Smith, which made him become second banana on that t.v. show - because t.v. locks you into a certain type of t.v. image, then, no one takes you serious when you want to do something else that you know you have the ability to do. I wish AR the best in his career - maybe he can land some gigs on broadway.

Comment: Gurlfrand, I agree. I used to think he was cute before Fresh Prince, but then after that, all I could see him as was nerdy Carlton. I'm sure that fueled the need for him to move behind the scenes, but I wish him much success. He will probably do well on the show b/c he already can sing. As for whom he married, it really doesn't affect me in any way because I wasn't trying to marry him. *Shrugs* No matter who he married, he is still a black man, and as such, until he starts doing drivebys or selling drugs, I won't condemn him as the "lowest of the low."

Comment: >OSB - I live out here in L.A. and I see a lot of white men/asian women - as well as of course, black men/white women. I rarely see white men/black woman, unless it's a high profile black woman like Whoopi, Diana Ross, Dianne Carroll, but, on the average here in L.A., I rarely see a white man with a black woman when I'm out and about shopping at malls, dinning out at night, clubs (I don't do clubs anymore), but when I did, I rarely saw it there.
