Comment: Goapele recently did Summerstage here in NYC and she impressed me by giving the opening slot to Alice Smith (check out Alice on myspace.com/AliceSmith -- She IS the next big thing). Goapele appears to be very humble and gave a very diverse show in terms of music selection. She seems to be cool with being the little engine that could -- because her success is coming on her own terms.

Comment: Besides Alice Smith there is another young female artist named Autumn Rowe that is dope who has a my space page, www.myspace.com/autumnvibes. I wish both of these young ladies success and hopefully the music industry will wake and consumers buy these artists.

Comment: I've only heard that one song that she had out a couple of years ago called "Closer" - but, never really pursued hearing any of her other songs, but, based on Closer, and what she's about, sounds like it may be something to check out.

Comment: I live in the Bay Area and folks voted her the area's number 1 singer in a local publication. I bought her last album on the strength of the single "Closer", but I was disappointed in the album overall and am not really feeling her. Her music if I had to categorize it can be considered world music with neosoul overtones (only because of the touches of jazz and soul influences). I do; however, applaud the sister on her award and community activism. Now I personally prefer Ledisi who used to call the Bay Area home and has since relocated to NYC. That sista can blow.

Comment: How is that there is only 5 comments on Goapele's positive achievements in the community and 55 for the mess Cassie made of herself on 106&Park? I've noticed as I'm reading the comments most of us don't have much to say when it comes to positive things that many unknown artists do. But let it be something about Beyonce and everyone's rushing to speak...ridiculous!
