Comment: Can't disagree with your basic premise. But every day we see rappers exploiting REAL flesh & blood Black women - where's the protest about that? Why such a big deal about a cartoon?

Comment: Where was this guy when misogynistic lyrics are being spewed by rappers and comedians on TV and radio almost daily? Obviously, he never watches BET. Why did he choose MTV? Is it because if it's done by blacks to blacks, then it's okay only under those circumstances? Hopefully he has a prior track record of making these types of complaints to bring about change.

Comment: It doesn't matter where he was at. Besides, how do we know that he didn't protest the rappers? Many blacks did (and still do) but the protests fell on deaf ears and obviously some rappers kept/keep spewing garbage. The point is, this is a much needed wake-up call for those very same rappers (and their fans who rationalize/justify the lyrics). They have already given white people (and everybody else) carte' blanche to use the N word because they throw it around incessantly. Now everybody feels they can degrade black women because of what some rappers do. What these rappers fail to realize is not only are they degrading black women, they are also debasing themselves as men. One way to measure a culture is by how well the women are treated. God help us. Also, as the writer pointed out, this cartoon is being aired during "prime time" for kids to see it. That in itself is totally inappropriate. I havent' seen this particular episode, but I've seen the cartoon before and it is NOT for children, PERIOD. That in itself shows irresponsibility on MTV's part for not showing it late at night. People, this is serious. Now is not the time to knit-pic about who protested whom and when. We have to take action. I, for one, will start by sending my email to MTV.

Comment: And before someone says something, yes I have complained to BET about their programming choices as well.

Comment: CNG >Say it girl! You are 100% on the money. Paul Porter's org. could use you as their 'mouthpiece'.

Comment: CNG this statement you made says it all "One way to measure a culture is by how well the women are treated." I sometimes wonder how much longer the Black race, at least in America will continue as it seems that Black men are no longer interested in giving them the diginity and respect needed to engage Black women in meaningful relationships that will produce future offspring. Now, I know there are many Brothers out there giving Sistas the utmost respect but it is a struggle to educate young Brothers to respect Sistas and for that matter it is difficult to teach young Sistas to respect themselves when all they see is this demeaning crap on TV along with all the misogynistic and demeaning lyrics in popular music. Please excuse any typos...just hot under the collar about this topic!!!!!

Comment: Thanx Paul!I think this situation has come full circle. At first, blacks were terrorized in the early 1900's, and were not able to obtain civil rights.Unfortunately, we are active participants in the down right murder of our own children's selfworth. Would Snoop put his Mama or Grandma on a leash and walk them to an award show or to church?I do not think so.Just because there are women that will participate in such behaviour, don't make it right.Would he even try to fit his wife or daughter with a leash? He would not allow another human to DISRESPECT his daughter but he disrespects other men's daughters constantly.Has someone sold his soul to .$.$.? MTV was not formed for blacks.Rap and Hip Hop equal $$$$. They could care less about Black people. Was flavor of love taped because they knew that girl would ---- on her self. Viacom does not care about Black people.
