Comment: I guess Cynthia has found her new calling, voter fraud. I wonder if she would be making speeches about voting machines if she won?

Name: khufu
Comment: Voter Faud and the stealing of elections are real issues....also in GA it is absurd that you can cross over to vote.....i agree with her on those issues as they are truth and have less to do with her...I am glad she lost....I agree: WOULD SHE HAVE SAID ANYTHING IF SHE HAD WON?

Name: Industrypro
Comment: Voting machines are a big issue and a very serious one. Vanity Fair did a big story on this a few months back. THose machines are designed to err on the side of the republican candidate. Paper ballots are really the way to go and only then can we as citizens be assured that the candidate who did win the most votes get into office. More politicians like McKinney are needed. She is one of the few questioning 911. Watch www.loosechange911.com, it takes about one hour and twenty minutes but you will be doing yourself a big favor.

Comment: Pretty much everything in the voting process these days is a big issue but the fact remains that Cynthia is a sore loser. She underestimated her opponent and overestimated her constituency. DeKalb County realized they would never be taken seriously again in congress if they re elected her. Cynthia could have been more than a force to be reckoned with because she would say what most thought and stand her ground, she was an advocate for her following but all her outbursts and skirmishes and lest I not forget that race card she pulled with frequency did her in.

Name: King
Comment: Black people should NEVER repeat the term "race card". I stand for Cynthia.

Name: NJBLKGUY
Comment: doesn't this also mean that if you're a Democrat, you can screw up the Republican Primary by crossing over and voting for the candidate of your liking?

Name: bigfriend
Comment: Get over it. Bye Cynthia!

Name: PG27
Comment: Say it again McNasty!!!!!!! Amen Especially @ this part "She underestimated her opponent and overestimated her constituency"...ummmhmmm

Comment: Though I believe McKinney lost fair and square, we can't just dismiss the possiblity of electronic voting machines being unreliable. The Election Science Institute recently released a report which indicated that electronic votes and paper results did not always match up.

Name: DCGG
Comment: NJBLKGUY - Yes but Black folks are die hard loyalist to the democratic party and wouldn't think of crossing over party lines even if it was in there best interest...We need to stop voting based on parties and vote for the candidate that has OUR best interest in mind.

Name: Train
Comment: The democratic party has become such a plantation that it's pitiful. I've never been a member of either party because I've always voted for the candidate and his/her ideas, not the party. Black folks need to throw off that chain that Ted Kennedy and Jesse Jackson has got on our people and do our own thing and have the parties come to us for a change. Cynthia is a sore loser because she wouldn't have bought this up if she would've won last week. Folks in her district need to get behind Hank Johnson and give him a chance.

Name: King
Comment: Hank Johnson is nothin but a controlled Manchurian Candidate clone drone. Dry Puppeted by the Republican party (who will vote his a$$ out in the Primary). He's being used, and we're/he's too stupid to see it. All of us who are doubting Cynthia on this, need to ask ourselves why the voting machines miraculously went down for an HOUR that day (on August 8th)? A truth seeker also, indeed, does have to ask if she would have raised this issue as a winner (a very good question). I was there, volunteering at her camp, and I believe she's a sincere person (I also believe that, like some of us on our corporate jobs, she got caught up in the controversy that is layed out for us sometime...her's being in that security guard situation). But everyone who hasn't already seen it, should see the film "American Blackout". God Bless us all.

Comment: Let me ask all the ATL this. What has Cynthia actually done besides get caught up in shyt running her mouth? We have somebody like that out here, Maxine Water who is worse because she blames the white man and LAPD for everything while the gangbangers are steadily bringing this city down piece by piece. What three concrete things have Cynthia have done for her district?

Name: NJBLKGUY
Comment: and then there was silence......

Name: Closet_Nerd_Girl
Comment: >Train- I used to live in McKinney's district and I have voted for her in the past. But in all true honesty, I cannot off the top of my head name anything concrete that she has done for her district (new legislation, monies, etc...). I'm sure if I dig deep enough I'll find it. But my point is, she is known mainly for pointing out wrong-doings and questioning the powers-that-be. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but she gets over zealous and as my grandmother says, "you can attract more flies with honey than with vinegar." One of her problems is that some of the people who work for her are not too bright. A friend of mine was working on her campaign and on the election day, one of Cynthia's appointees told them that they won't be able to vote because they had to stay there and work. Cynthia walked in a while later, and my friend mentioned it to her. Cynthia was like, "Why can't these people go vote?!!" She had to clean up that mess. Also, one of her bodyguards has a history of confrontations with camera people and making threats. I agree with the previous poster that if she had won, she would not be making an issue out of the electronic voting machines. However, electronic voting machines and lack of a "paper trail" has been talked about ad-nauseum by many public figures (at least here in Georgia) since Bush won in 2000. (And I agree that electronic voting machines ARE a legitimate concern) Personally, I see nothing wrong with "cross-over" voting. Why should I be locked into voting from only a certain group of candidates if the one I like is in another group? As long as I only get one vote that's all that should matter. The whole politcal party system in the U.S. is screwed up anyway. I'd rather vote my oncscience than be loyal to a particular party.

Comment: I agree with Train...many black folks have blind allegiance to the Democratic party and we need to ask ourselves "Why?". Because as of late, they haven't done much to improve our lot. I was a registered Democrat for many years, but I have since declared myself an Independent for the reason stated above. I'm looking for the best candidate and have no problems crossing party lines. I also think a lot of black folks get too caught up in voting for someone simply because he/she is black and don't take the time to analyze the candidate's platform if the person is a new candidate and/or review the person's voting record if the person is an incumbent. Now, I admit to liking Ms. McKinnley for her outspoken views against 9/11, but I don't live in her district and have no knowledge of the contributions and/or impact she may have had on her community. Ms. McKinnley does deserve kudos for pointing out the problems with electronic voting machines and trying to bring the issue to the public consciousness. So regardless if you like her or not, at least give her props for being one of the few policitians actually talking about the issue. Because this one IMPACTS us all.

Comment: Whatever and all Hank Johnson is, he isn't Cynthia. I don't take anything away from her but her time had come. As for the voting process I am Democrat but have been paying attention to all the candidates in my area as I don't intend to vote along party lines I intend to vote for the politicians that more closely mirror my thoughts. I also intend to follow them through their candidacy and I suggest all do the same and stop looking for conspiracy theories. Cynthia got y'all with that one didn't she?! She lost cause folk are tired of her clowning - that's it and that's all.

Name: SmokeyBones2004
Comment: She is an idiot who only ran on the 'Vote for me b/c I'm Black' ticket. Due to the crisis and state of Black America, Black politicians need to be held to a higher standard. If you want an example of a productive Black Democrat - see D-John Lewis, GA. She has done very little in her years as a legislator. She even had Cindy Sheehan at her campaign hadquaters that night. They are BOTH CRAZY!

Name: fairydust777
Comment: I am also an independent. I vote on the candidate that best reflects my values, etc. I agree with the poster who said that blacks need to stop supporting politicians just because they are black. I am not aware of what contributions Cynthia has done for her constituents but I do know that she was dead wrong for %*$aulting a police officer who was just doing his job. She does play the race card issue and we need candidates who are intelligent, outspoken, truthseekers, but who do so with class. I think it is high time we combine our policial clout with economic clout. We need to take control of our communities and get rid of the drug dealers (do you think the jews or italians would stand for that in their communities?) and blight. Instead of wearing our wealth on our backs, we need to sacrifice and invest in property and building more businessess so we can provide jobs. We need to forget the public school system which has done a lousy job. Can you imagine a fortune 500 company operating in the manner in which the public school system does? I am also an advocate of parents investing more in their children's education. I know parents who buy expensive sneakers, cell phones etc for kids who are flunking, can barely read. If your child didn't do well in school then take the toys away and use the money for a tutor. Send your child to summer school or a summer enrichment program even if he or she does well in school. Summer enrichment programs are a great way to maintain your child's skills. Just my thoughts.

Name: khufu
Comment: That's been my point for the longest: what has/had she ACTUALLY done in her district?

Name: khufu
Comment: SMOKEYBONES I agree I agree I agree

Comment: again look at Floyd Flake as what a Congree person should be doing for their constituency

Name: fairydust777
Comment: khufu are you from New York? You are correct in that Floyd Flake is a good example.

Name: khufu
Comment: FAIRYDUST yes...Queens but living AGAIN in Georgia

Name: Train
Comment: I'm from Cali myself but my wife and I are in the process of moving to Georgia this fall so I've been asking question to my frat brothers down there and relatives down there about the politicians and other things as well. I agree with the pollster about Floyd Flake, that brotha makes things happen and he does it in a low key way without alienating folks like Cynthia, Maxine and Sharpton does. There are several blacks running for high office this fall who happen to be republicans and condering that my family are independents I wouldn't mind voting for them if they were running out here. We must escape the plantations and quit blaming white folks for the ills of the inner cities. Take control of our communities and start raising these kid's in a proper manner. Burn those m.f. crack houses down and hold public hangings for these gangbangers.

Name: Reds
Comment: <Mr.Train> Actually, she did brought this up before the election. http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=06/08/04/14 19200: "We are engaged down here in quite a fierce battle, because the Republicans once again have chosen to insert themselves into the business of the Democratic primary. "..."have down here in Georgia is that we’ve got the open primary, which allows the Republicans to become involved in the Democratic primary."

Name: Train
Comment: I think the open primary is a good thing because a voter shouldn't be held in by whatever party. I'm all about voting for the person and how their ideas relate to mine instead of being a "slave" stuck on the democratic plantation waiting for massas like Ted Kennedy or Harry Reid to give those handouts. I remember when the democratics used to be the party for doing right by folks when JFK, LBJ, RFK, Carter were around but these cats now run on idiot issues that the average everyday hard working american don't give a shyt about like animal rights, homeless rights, gay rights, transgender rights, global warming, illegal alien rights, and other bullshyt of that nature. People are more concerned with the stuff around them like education, crime, taxes, and trying to put food on the table. I'm not a Bush supporter by any means but Kerry, who I voted for went out like a sucker when he acted like a biyyyyaaaatch in not responding to those charges by the Swift Boat idiots and Gore should've won that 2000 election in a landslide if he wouldn't have distanced himself from Clinton on the campaign trail which was stupid because ppl didn't care about that Lewinsky thing.
