Comment: why wait until you got married to start fighting to be your own woman. If your single that line of thinking is cool but since "I's married now", it sounds like a juvenile after-thought.

Name: B00TANEB00TUS
Comment: %*$! them bit*ches...Born again?...Somehow those two don't go together...As much as Jesus despised the money changers in the temple...I don't think he said f-them mutha**** as he turned over the tables...

Name: eyesley
Comment: Too bad she's not happy with it. Personally, I like it.

Name: Luke_Cage
Comment: I don't understand the born again part and the subsequent recording of a song with an expletive laden title. In fact, I just heard of a version of the "Whisper Song" sung by Kelis that had expletives in the hook as well. That song at best was okay, but finding out she's born again and singing songs of this nature is tripping me out.

Name: khufu
Comment: another silly azz ignant one...she records the recor to "get it out her sysytem" and is upset when thy put it on the album?

Name: khufu
Comment: LOL and when tey make thi statements of purpose..."“about leaving a mark; it's about letting people know someone was here before you."...man, do they REALLy believe that thee are profound declarations?

Comment: LOL and when they make these statements of purpose..."“about leaving a mark; it's about letting people know someone was here before you."...man, do they REALLy believe that thee are profound declarations?

Comment: I feel people are ridin'her like she the %*$! and that her music is so great and innovative. In my opinion she sucks and her voice is annoying. She has her own swagger via her dress and personal style, but, as an artist NOT!!!!!!!!!!

Name: Joii30
Comment: Saw her in concert 2 weeks ago. Was surprised her performance was actaully good and so was her voice.

Name: bigchassie
Comment: i just want to know where did she get the "blue poodle"

Name: gingerg
Comment: Kelis is washed up. No one is going to buy her cd anyway, so she shouldn't spend too much time worrying about the cut.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: I like the song "Bossy". She has her own style, which sets her aside from the rest of the female artists out there. I think that's what I like most about her. Her voice is marginal but she has gotten a lot better than her first single when she screamed "I hate you so much right now" and put it to music. Also, I think her and Nas make a cute couple :-)

Name: star
Comment: Kelis is different and that's why I like her. I look forward to hearing her CD.

Name: DCGG
Comment: I like Kelis and erything but uhm Kelis please shut the fuvk up - you mad cause your album sales ain't kickin it like that and you should be used to it - you've never been a A-Lister...yeah so what one or two cute hits, Milkshake, Bossy but er uhm that's about it now shut up, sit the fuvk down and spend Nas' money...

Name: TMan
Comment: Poor Kelis. I have been thinking bout her lately and how such a stupid direction they are taking her career. She has more to offer but they are using her. HARD. Immature, kid lyrics. Hell, the girl is 26 now. She's a grown woman and they got her singing juvenile and wack sexual lyrics. She could be doing much more on better levels. They are wasting her young career life. She needs to go independent so she can do her own thing. They continue to take her down the wrong path. Her first album was slamin' though. Kelis, go indy and do your own thing the way you wanna do it girl! ;)

Name: ss69054
Comment: aHHHHHHHH (Yawning) It's not like she ever had a platinum CD or album anyhows!!! One hit per album and now she complain. Gurl pleaseeeeeeeee!!

Name: ss69054
Comment: Three Strikes and your out!!

Name: cookie30
Comment: Kelis is my girl. I love her music because she dares to be much different. Now that some of you mention it, her music is a bit immature for her age and she could bring it up a notch, but then that wouldn't be Kelis. She is too chick to sing like an old Betty. Do your thing Kelis, but don't complain about it when it's on wax.

Name: TMan
Comment: When I first heard the song Milkshake, I thought to myself, "You have GOT to be kidding." The lyrics. Dayum. Elementary school.

Name: TMan
Comment: It's cuz the record companies are hip to the fact that the twenty somethings out here ae taking a longer time to grow up so they are using and exploiting that reality by feeding them more continuous child like shiiyyat but what maes it worse are they are mixing in sexual content in all of it. It's a overhyped sexual musical kindergarden on the hip hop radio situation folks. Sad. Who woulda thought this is what black music woulda sounded like in the year 2000 and beyond in the 80s? Dayum.

Name: ss69054
Comment: TMAN> I agree. I think that is why I don't turn on the radio as often now because it is nothing but garbage that is played.

Name: oldsoul
Comment: No disrespect Nas, but your wife is beautiful, man...she has the kind of spirit I would love in my wife. However, it is sad that she and the Neptunes couldn't quite work it out because I always thought they were a good fit - sonically. Hey, like another poster suggested, be indie about it - there are gobs of producers out here with butter sh*t just waiting to make your conception(s) chart-topping realities, on your terms. Big Reg is one (abeatchemist.com) and Law is another (ahriginal@yahoo.com), just to name two. Oh yeah, being "born again", is about much more than "belief" and "confession" - that's the easy way out...maybe that's why so many (who profess), still haven't found their way out - yet.

Name: Victornator
Comment: I have yet to meet a born again anthing that does not do what the average person does. Yes, they point out scriptures that justifies some of their vices and just feel guilty about the ones they cannot find a sripture to justify. I know a "religious" chick who recently tried to sell my a church raffle ticket (I thought that was considered gambling). Another religious freak sent me an e-mail "chain" letter (I thought chain letters, electronic or otherwise were the spawn of the devil).

Name: CrzyLdy16
Comment: I have her last CD. There are quite a few really nice tracks that were never released as singles. Which is sad, because I think she would have had more sells if everyone knew the range on the CD went past "Milkshake."

Name: TMan
Comment: I remember when Kelis first came on 106th and Park and they asked her how does she decribe her music and what it is she wanted to do. That was way after her 1st album came out. All this we gettin right here with her? ain't nothin close to shat she wanted to do. I got that original joint on tape. She is another example of someone inthe industry who is being used. She is not in control of her career. They are. Isn't it clear? They forcin her to sing that shiiyat. She's passed all that. Believe that! I don't want her to sing old stuff that is beyond her years but I think she has the ability to do it. Even Jazz. I just want her to do her. I want her to sing her age. Not Elementary stuff. I feel sorry for her but its not too late. Soon as this contract is up, I'd say leave that company and get back on the good foot of what she originally wanted to do. ;)

Name: McNasty
Comment: LMAO@TMan - I think all of her music is elementary. Born again?! I wish folk would keep their spirituality to themselves - too much opportunity to call them hypocrites because they can't find the balance between that and their music.

Name: ss69054
Comment: I don't think anyone has true control of their music unless they own their own record company. They will always be controlled by the record execs who just go by popular consensus on what sells to get their money back. Majority of all these artist are slaves.

Name: TMan
Comment: McNasty, I hear you. But who's fault is that, her's or theirs? OK, now that joint she came out with called 'I Hate You' I thought was wack. That showed to me she still had some more growing to do at that point cuz I hrd her say she really felt that song in her life over a breakup. She was tearing shyt up in that video. I thought all of that was immature and I dont know no grown woman who acts like that over a break up. She showed her age on that one. The born again stuff I never knew about til now with her - that is wild.

Name: TMan
Comment: ss69054, I agree with you.

Name: TMan
Comment: I'd like to see an interview with Kelis' Mom and Dad to hear what they think about how her career's gone. I would really like to read that. Whoo! EUR, hook it up! ;)

Name: Thunny
Comment: Funny, she had the same thing to say about her last album. When is Kelis gonna face the facts that she is not a commodity in the music game? Her best album ever (Wanderland) didn't even come out in America! She made the mistake of her lives when she left the Neptunes and it's all becoming very apparent right now. Chad and Pharrell never would have put a song on her album without her consent. Oh well, you live and you learn, Mrs. Jones. She'd better hope Nas' new album sells or else it's back to the drawing board for both of them. She was better off being the Neptunes' puppet instead of Nas being Jay's puppet.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: *scratchin head wondering what type of music a "26" yr old should be doing*

Name: Victornator
Comment: Does anyone think Kellis, Brandy, Monica, Da Brat,Chistina Millian, Monifa, Adina Howard will ever sell 100,000 records again? What about collectively?

Name: ss69054
Comment: Victornator> Adina Howard??? I haven't heard that name in awhile. She is busted. Brandy and Monica has a chance. If anything, Brandy can go back to TV. Everybody else better come up with a good strategic plan.

Name: Thunny
Comment: Is Monifah even still alive?

Name: Marlin
Comment: riiight and the fact that you used to bone pharrell ain't got a johnny cakin' thing to do with it, right? she is getting heat from nas, that's all....but business is business and her vocals are weak as it is....if it ain't broke.....

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: Brandy will sell over 100,000 again, she just need to find the right songs that fit her. As far as Kelis being with the Neptunes, I don't like Pharrell current CD, so I'm sure I wouldn't like a CD he produce for Kelis.

Name: TMan
Comment: "*scratchin head wondering what type of music a "26" yr old should be doing*" musbdherbs, NOT overhyped, immature, degenerate, oversexed, suggestive yet kindergarden and elementary type sounding stuff for starters. Lol! ;)

Name: Secret
Comment: I think she is better off without the Neptunes, they are so boring and corny.

Name: ss69054
Comment: With Neptunes or not, the chic ain't selling b/c she is wack!!! No more excuses.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Tman..oh ok...lol.. Uhm...*scratching head wondering what age was Rick James when he came out w/Mary Jane or Prince w/Insatiable. I think both of them were over 26 at the time. *shruggin shoulders*

Name: Iwannasay
Comment: I agree about the withholding info on one's spirituality - was she born-again AFTER she recorded Milkshakes? Kelis is not a slave or a pawn - she is attractive but has limited talent and therefore little clout in managing her career. But I think a whiner like her sold-out to have a "career" - and then fall back on the Lord when it doesn't come out the way they wanted. Oh well, she can always try the gospel circuit when her sexy-image, secular career fails....the church ALWAYS takes 'em in!

Name: ss69054
Comment: Rick James and Prince are icons.

Name: fairydust777
Comment: Agree with Khufu. I'm getting tired of mediocrity being celebrated. Milkshake was one of the worst songs ever (next to A DJ Saved My Life). Victornator: Selling a raffle ticket is not gambling. Sending an email is not the spawn of the devil. I'm not sure if you've been surrounded by religious zealots but there is no scripture to back up what you stated. Yes you will find born again christians that sin (we all sin) but the difference is that we have turned our life over to Jesus. We confess and repent of our sins. As long as we're on this earth we will make mistakes. But once you say you're born again you don't go around making sexually explicit songs. You put off the old nature and put on the new. Do we make mistakes.. yes... are we perfect ... not at all.

Name: dollbaby2
Comment: Born again Christian?!!!!!!!!! okay, let me calm down!!! Christianity is and can be a process!!!! You do not change overnight. If you have been living as a heathen for 25 years and decide to become born again, you are a new born babe in Christ. That's 25 years of heathenism to get out. And like a baby you have to crawl before you walk. Maybe she should have kept that part a secret until she learned that Christ did not use profanity and His followers should stop too. Put some more clothes on and dress a little more modest. Leave something to the imagination and know that the body is the temple of God and that it is for her husband to enjoy not the whole world. She can sell records with her clothes on. Being a woman of God means being a positive role model. Being a Christian is being a representation of Christ to the world. Pray for her.

Name: katee
Comment: Kelis is a great performance artist. "I hate you so much right now" is one of my favorite songs and videos. And, I loved "Milkshake" the song and video, too. Any artist who attacks the music industry, well, I'm automatically on the artist's side in that fight. At 26, she can do whatever type of music she wants. But, I hope she keeps it fun, lively, and with attitude. Unlike some of you, I don't think she should be doing "granny music."

Name: slinky07
Comment: First of all, Kelis is 32, not 26. (She would have been c/o 92 in high school has she not dropped out.) Second, why is that folks are so hard on the born again Christian thing? Is it not possible that these songs were recorded before she was saved? I mean it's not very Christian to pass judgement on another, now is it?

Name: Iwannasay
Comment: You can go here to see the Christian-in-training writhing around in a bikini......http://www.kelis.co.uk/ Guess she's still workin' it out! (You know - what's behavior befitting Christian and all....)

Name: Iwannasay
Comment: I'm sorry - guess the DEVIL got in me today!

Name: slinky07
Comment: Besides, how come none of you all are ever this hard on Beyonce. Do her sexually explicit lyrics, co-habitating with a man she is not married to, and her performance attire not contradict her Christianity?

Name: Priceless
Comment: Kelis must think when the history books of music are written she is gonna have a prominent spot *snicker* and her biggest hit was Milkshake?! .... CTFU! I like Bossy though

Name: slinky07
Comment: Since when is dancing in a bikini un-Christianlike behavior? And until someone comes up with the date she was born again versus the date she filmed the video then folks need to just leave it alone.

Name: Iwannasay
Comment: Why yes, Slinky07, it DOES! And I think her butt-bouncing dance routine was one of the most primitive things I've ever seen. And too bad - the song was catchy, well-produced and B. is pretty and talented. But, man, we is one sex-obsessed society!

Name: Iwannasay
Comment: Let's see, did I hear that right? "SINCE WHEN IS DANCING IN A BIKINI UN-CHRISTIAN-LIKE BEHAVIOR?"!! OMIGOD I think I gotta sign off - I was thinkin' you were making sense there for a mintue! Have a blessed day!

Name: slinky07
Comment: Iwannasay, I was actually referring to Kelis' video, not Beyonce's. Apology unnecessary.

Name: ss69054
Comment: Please enough of Beyonce. She is my girl and all but everyday there is a posting about her. Keep it on Kelis. Anyhows, lets stop being so judgemental on folks. Leave that do the man upstairs. God loves folks regardless how foolish and jacked up folks seem to be including us folks.

Name: fairydust777
Comment: dollbaby you are absolutely correct. It is a process. Slinky we are not being judgmental. As for dancing around in a bikini not being unchristian like, christian women are not prudes but we want to best show christ in us. That means we can dress very nicely, modest and not with everything hanging out. A christian woman strives to be a virtuous woman. Please read Proverbs 31.

Name: Priceless
Comment: CTFU@Iwannasay ... slinky07 I can't believe you have missed the Beyonce slayings on the EUR *looking amazed* she has gotten it much worse than Kelis .... *pointing way up there* dayum I used to love "A DJ Saved My Life" ... LOL!

Name: 2ndChance
Comment: Insatiable? Boy that is strictly grown folks music. Sexy MF or Alphabet street not so grown.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Oh? Ok now I get it, u need to be considered an icon "later on in ur life" in order to make immature, degenerate, oversexed, suggestive, music. *Thinking* Prince=Soft and Wet=1978=icon?.... Uhm...ok..if u say so

Name: oldsoul
Comment: Just curious: Did Jesus actually create himself in the midst of an already created Earth? One more: Did Jesus create everything that we see and do not (All)? I am a "Christian" (but I'm definitely not religious)in the wider sense of the word - which means simply to be "Christ-like" or aspiring to be [like] or a student of the TEACHINGS of the Christ (Jesus)...not to worship the man himself. I mean, who taught Jesus? While I am not a follower, I am a willing student and I don't remember Jesus ever admonishing anyone to "worship" him in the LITERAL sense but that's what I seem to be hearing/reading/seeing constantly. Could it be that that method of thinking is not working? Look at our condition. Just curious. Where, when and by whom was this religion/concept formulated being that it is only 2006 years old (Gregorian Calendar). Again, I'm just curious...

Name: dollbaby2
Comment: thanks fairy- and yes, let's keep Beyonce out of this, this is about Kelis, Beyonce had her turn and she will get it again if another article is presented about her on eur. Yes, God loves everyone, but He does not love the sin. a lot of folk He loves will be going to hell, sorry but that is the truth. God is love but He is also just. I am not judging anyone, not even Kelis. She has and will give an account for herself. We are not to judge people except according to the Word of God, we can and should judge the sin - according to the Word of God. Everything that is lawful is not right with God.Women of God should be virtuous, sometimes it takes time for new believers to get there. They have to be taught - in love not scorned. If Kelis is truly a born again Christian and that could be the case as to why she is upset about the release of a previous recording, it will show eventually. The God in her will show her the way to behave etc. As a Christian maybe she could address it as, that was my past, but now that I am born again, I know better.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: Thunny>Check out ybf.blogspot. There's a photo of Jay Z and Nas that I'm sure you'll love.

Name: Thunny
Comment: Southern, I can't access that site but I have a feeling it's the same photo that I got in my e-mail this morning. Is it the one where Jay is carrying Nas as a baby advertising a fake movie called Hiphop is Dead? I wish there was a way I could load that photo onto this page for everybody to see. It is truly hilarious, and another example of how Jay has "sonned" Nas.

Name: Thunny
Comment: OK - I just saw it. It is the same pic I have. Classic. Nas is a Herb.

Name: Royale55
Comment: Speak on it OldSoul-where you been brotha????

Name: Untouchable
Comment: Like a lot of the posters, I don't get what is so different about her or what the appeal is at all. Too me, it just about her connections to Nas. But there is nothing special in the talent or looks department. So whatever.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: Thunny>I knew you would love it. Poor Nas. I really like the brother.

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: TMan > I'm sorry to say TMAN but you have just described the current state of HIP HOP.

Name: Beezyuu
Comment: What little I've seen of Kelis on videos, shows me that the girl has NO talent whatsoever.

Name: TMan
Comment: LOL! This is why I love all ya'll up in this piece! LOL! I love my people. U too, mudherbs, LOL!

Name: Tiedie
Comment: I salute the girl as an artist. It takes a lot of courage to go off the beaten path as an artist. Especially nowadays when everyone looks and sounds the same (Beyonce knock-offs). As far as her being a "christian"...well..she's no different from the rest of 'em.
