Comment: Sadly, the dream our ancestors fought for and gave their lives for and suffered for us to have a beeter life, and we do, is turning into a nightmare. We are not appreciating what we have and how far we have come as a people. We are not keeping the legacy alive nor paving the way for the next generation.

Comment: Busta, Busta Karma is a motha- You refuse to open your mouth and speak to the police about the murder of your Body Guard and offer closure to his family and your Album is a FLOPPPPPP. You should of title it the Big BUST.

Comment: Good morning people! I've been on this Earth in this body long enough to know that you should believe little of what you hear and even less of what you see. It's obvious that NYC's finest have it out for Busta and Hip-Hop or if it isn't by now - stay tuned, the proof will come to pass. My problem with this new piece of sh*t story are the details. From reading it I learn that it wasn't Busta that beat the dude, but members of his enterouge (sp) - granted it was for a stupid reason but hey, lifestyle dictates decisions. While he shoulda/coulda stopped it, it wasn't him. I would suggest that Busta check his crew and brush up on his chess game - literally and quickly, because from the looks of it, so-called law enforcement is gonna keep f*ckin' with him until his only move is surrender...and after that, game over.

Comment: Oldsoul. I've also learned that there are three sides to every story. Yours, Mine and the Truth.

Comment: Busta is a low down dirty rotten mutha f-cka. He is a true definition of a B-TCH. His best friend and bodyguard gave his life for this a--hole. Ramirez wasn't afraid to step in front of him and take the bullet. Busta is afraid to step up front and tell the truth of who killed him, fearing for his life. Now you tell me, who sounds like the B-TCH?

Name: Bertie
Comment: Read again Oldsoul--the "victim" is claiming Busta kicked him in the face repeatedly--so it wasn't just the bodyguards. We can yell hip-hop police all we want but when you as a 34 year old man fight a 19 year old in the middle of the cot' damn street because saliva hit your car(after he allegedly apologized)--I have no sympathy if you get locked. If you stop doing dumb sh@t the hip hop police will have nothing to get you for.

Comment: dollbaby> I agree, that's basically another way of saying what I already said with regard to not believing what we hear, read, see...

Name: oldsoul
Comment: I read and re-read the comments before I made a comment and from what the "victim" stated, it's not clear Bertie. If we, as individuals, choose to infer what the meaning may or may not be, then that's our choice. Here, let's read together Bertie> Lebron tells the Post that Rhymes stopped the car, jumped out and approached him stating: "‘Homie, did you just spit on my car?’ I said, 'Sorry, I didn't mean to.’ I said, 'We're big fans of yours.' And that's the last thing I said. Then [one of his people hit me] in the face, and I fell to the ground. While I was on the ground, he was kicking me, and he kicked me in my face." If we read just the words, yes, "he" COULD be Busta BUT "he" could ALSO be "one of his people" that hit him, causing him to fall to the ground. Then while he was on the ground, the unsubstantiated "he" kicked him. We have to be careful with words...we've all heard "the pen is mightier than the sword", right? That sh*t ain't just cliche.

Comment: This is semantics but “he” could mean the bodyguard, not necessarily Busta. Another red flag for me is if Busta was arrested for this incident why was he questioned about the Ramiez shooting? I’m with Oldsoul, there’s just too much to this for me to believe literally what the media is saying. However, very soon NYPD is going to bust Busta if he doesn’t control his environment.

Comment: The victim said "Then one of his people hit me in the face, and I fell to the ground. While I was on the ground, he was kicking me, and he kicked me in my face." My question is, was the other person arrested also? If not, why just Buster?

Comment: This is crazy! Here we all are debating the wording of an article. The bottom line is one of our own was shot down like a dog and Busta knows who did it. I don't care what tactics the police use (as long as it's no beat down or any violence)to find the answer.

Comment: well here the full story and not the "excerpts" from eur. Its pretty clear the victim is claiming Busta kicked him in the face ____________________________ One moment, Roberto Lebron was telling Busta Rhymes he was a "big fan" - and the next thing he knew, the rapper was kicking him in the face. That was the dramatic account offered yesterday by the 19-year-old Bronx man, whose allegations of a Chelsea beat-down landed Rhymes in his latest scrape with the law. "While I was on the ground, he was kicking me in the face," Lebron said yesterday. "I saw him kick me." Lebron's crime, he said, was accidentally spitting on Busta's ride on Aug. 12. "Me and my friends were walking across the street. I spit on the street and it landed on a moving car. It was a Maybach. That car stopped, along with two black SUVs. "People came out and they were walking up to me. We realized it was Busta Rhymes," Lebron said in a phone interview arranged by his lawyer. "He asked me, 'Homie, did you spit on my car?' I said 'Sorry, I didn't mean to. We're big fans of yours.' That was the last thing I said," Lebron recalled. "One of his people hit me in the face and I fell on the ground" - and then Rhymes came over to finish the job, he said. Lebron said the star and his crew kicked and punched him in the middle of Sixth Ave. near 19th St. - then yanked his Nike sneakers off his feet and tossed them away. Rhymes' beefy posse kept Lebron's three friends from coming to his aid, and bolted after about two minutes, he said. "I guess they got tired of beating me up," said Lebron, who was a student at John Jay College of Criminal Justice until he took a full-time job hooking up televisions in hospital rooms. Lebron filed a formal criminal complaint on Saturday, and cops busted Rhymes after his concert at Randalls Island. Rhymes, 34, spent a night in jail as cops tried to use the arrest to grill him about the unsolved Feb. 5 murder of his bodyguard, Israel Ramirez. Ramirez, 29, was gunned down during Rhymes' video shoot in Brooklyn, reputedly because of a rap-world beef with Tony Yayo, a fixture in 50 Cent's posse. Police believe Rhymes witnessed the slaying and his refusal to cooperate has stalled the investigation. The rapper's lawyer said the %*$ault arrest was simple "payback" for the Ramirez case. Lebron's lawyer, Gregory Tembeck, countered his client was still shaken by the attack that left the teen with a concussion and a split lip. Lebron plans to file a civil lawsuit this week. "This is not a case where he was looking to exploit a star," said Tembeck. "He was obviously bewildered why he was beaten on the street. Nobody should be subjected to this." "He doesn't think he's going to be buying any more albums from Busta Rhymes anytime soon," the lawyer added

Comment: Busta was at V103's studio about a couple of months ago. The subject matter was pretty much about the effects of hip hop. I was extremely impressed with Busta's convo. He seemed to be very intelligent and spoke eloquently. I thought he had matured and was ready to give back and help our black youth. Dayuum, dayuum, dayumm! But like dollbaby2 indicated earlier, there are (3) sides to every story. Your side, their side, and the TRUTH!

Comment: EUR how many times you gonna report some slant of this story?

Name: oldsoul
Comment: BlackDiamondLeo> To answer your question, no. Nowhere in my post do I suggest that I'm "all for Busta not doing anything to help the police...". I suppose you question me about that because I am not convinced by the "stories" I've heard and read on the February shooting. My comments, today, have been on this particular bullsh*t story that EUR printed--that's almost 2 wks old, mind you. I am all for the police doing their jobs, building a case, going after leads and arresting suspects who have substantial evidence against them. Were there not a host of other artists, celebrities, in attendance? I guess all of them and the average bystanders are all dirty, low-down, b*tch-azz, punk, 54 year-old looking muthaf*ckas, too? If after a complete investigation it turns out that Busta along with others could have aided the police with more than they did but didn't THEN Busta is dead wrong and he'll have to atone for his silence and I'll be disappointed in the dude. As it stands right now, the case is pending. And you're right, this should not have anything to do with Hip-Hop vs. "The Man" and NO American citizen should be wiretapped without a warrant either but guess what, it's happening.

Comment: Bertie> Thanks for the alternative recount - what's the source of that story? If indeed Busta jumped in on the ruckus then that's gay, no bones about it. But, it's interesting that that bit of information was missing in the EUR story being that they seem to have a jones for including as much derogatory detail as possible. Surely your post implicates Busta, why not EUR's story - just curious about that...and I'm not necessarily questioning your motive [not saying that you have one either]. Ya know, what was interesting in your post was that "...LeBron was a student at John Jay College until he took a full-time job hooking up televisions in hospital rooms." LOL, I just don't see where that information is relevant especially being that it doesn't really sound like a promising career move. Just curious. Anyway, peace...what's up Gemami?!!

Comment: Someone on here raised valids points about the NYPD's history (i.e., the Diallo murder) and capability of targeting black males. I think we need to look at things on a case by case basis. In this instance, they are going to try to put Busta under the jail to set an example.

Comment: I'm very disappointed in Busta for not coming forth with any information regarding who shot his bodyguard. This man had his back and obviously was willing to lay down his life for Busta and this is how Busta repays him?? Shameful. I would like to give Busta some leeway just because right now what I'm seeing is just too ugly. Maybe he's afraid of retribution. I can understand that, he has children and a family. I'm not sure why Tony Yayo has not been questioned on any level. That boggles my mind. Sorry folks, I did purchase Busta’s CD which I might add is off the hook. He seems so much more intelligent then what is being said and written about him.

Name: Thunny
Comment: LOL It's so crazy to me how people ignore the facts. Busta gave the cops a statement that day his bodyguard was shot. To me, that IS cooperating with the cops. But since the cops think Busta knows more than he said, they are telling the press that he isn't cooperating. And about 98% of the folks here choose to believe the cops over Busta. That says alot about how black folks feel about eachother. Now, as far as the alleged stomping goes, of course the alleged victim is going to finger the wealthiest and most famous out of the crew. Wouldn't you? I'm not justifying the beating but Busta is the one who's name will generate the most sensationalism, not Spilff Star or Rampage or any of his other weed carriers. That machete is being pinned on Busta, too, because it was in his car. It's not like he emerged from the car wielding the machete or something. Since Busta DOES NOT have a history of commiting random [or not random] violent acts, why should I believe that after a 15 year career in rap he all of a sudden decides to stomp someone down?

Comment: Busta ain't shyt, a straight-up coward and he's going reap what he sows. August 14, 2006 -- The family of Busta Rhymes' slain bodyguard is calling on the hip-hop wild man to tell cops what he knows about the fatal shooting - blaming his silence on "cowardice" and a calculated, self-serving decision to use the tragedy for publicity. "I understand the code of the streets, [but] they're probably just very afraid for themselves and their families," Israel Ramirez's older sister Sonia Rodriguez told The Post in an exclusive interview at her family's dinner table. She said the last time she heard from Rhymes, who promised to set up a college fund for Ramirez's three sons, was on a voice mail left July 4 asking how the family is doing. She couldn't get through when she tried to return his call. "We're not doing well. Our family is destroyed. We're not going to be complete again," she said. "Especially during the holidays. There is definitely going to be an empty seat at this table." She said she's sickened by Rhymes' performance shout-outs to Ramirez. "I find it kind of nauseating - especially when he's talking about how he cared for my brother," Rodriguez said. "He doesn't give two diddlies about my brother. At this point, I honestly believe Busta is using my brother's death as a publicity stunt - and I'm angry," she said with tears in her eyes. "He may perceive it as this is how he shows he cares, but I don't see it. He's really got a lot to do to prove me wrong, and talking to the cops about what happened that night would be a big step." Ramirez was shot dead on Feb. 5 at the taping of a video for the Rhymes song "Touch It" at a studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Six months later, his killer is still at large. A police source says cops still haven't gotten any cooperation from any of the people who were there. "Some people are afraid because they fear they could be next," the source said. Other sources say 50 Cent protégé Tony Yayo wanted to be in the video, while producer Swizz Beatz, didn't want him involved. Yayo and his crew allegedly got mad, and as Beatz was leaving the soundstage, gunfire erupted. Police believe Rhymes and Beatz were direct witnesses to the shooting. Rodriguez, 43, who was a fan of "positive" rap in the '80s and early '90s, said she can't stand the new-school rap stars, whom she calls "cowards." She said her elderly mother still believes Rhymes will do the right thing. But she's not so sure. "My mother is a very Christian person, Roman Catholic," Rodriguez said. "Her belief is what you don't pay for here on earth you will pay for when you get to heaven - if you get to heaven. "I'm more of a believer in karma: What goes around comes around." murray.weiss@nypost.com
