Comment: I plan on going to see this on my study break this afternoon. I wish this movie was about the REAL Idlewild, an exclusive resort location in Michigan for Black folk in the earlier part of the 20th century. But it's all good.

Comment: hahahaha GurlFrand, I hear you on the Magic tip. I am glad the brotha has done alot for the community but I do not frequent his theatre because I want to see the movie without all of the side bar comments. I LOVE my peeps but some of us need to chill in regards to talking to the movie screen, chatting on the cell phone while the movie is in progress or bringing children under 18 to an R rated movie.............

Comment: NYC> LOL!! I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT! lol! getting off the subject: see the thing is i had my hair cut already and i can't do anything with it especially since it's been so humid so i've been wearing a wig piece. so now i'm going to have my stylist to cut it short and wear it the way i used to wear it.

Comment: bigchassie>>you are crazy! LOL...I hear ya though. When I used to wear my hair short I had those same issues...I am notorious for my braids, ponytails, weaves, whateva...anything to avoid having to do my own hair!! So I truly understand your frustrations...I came across something new that the "stars" do these days...its cost anywhere from $800 & up but it lasts for 2+ years. The style I want first is $1200 I just have not broken down to buy it yet...maybe for DREAMGIRLS I'll treat myself!! LOL

Comment: Hey Tenacious...they are called lace fronts. I found it while searching for new braiding styles. I live in Maryland now so the link I have to a company is: http://www.kinksinc.com/lacefronts.html
You choose the style/color you want, place your order and they deliver. Each style is custom made. Let me know what you think.

Comment: bigchassie: I like your spirit girl... that's right treat yourself and take yourself out. I also plan on getting decked out to see this movie and dreamgirls. My mom says that there was a time when black people liked to get dressed to go out and it looks like you, me and NYCGirl are brining it back. Are you still singing? I'm working on some songs now.

Comment: bigchassie: I found a link that talks about what a lace front is. The lace front is a versatile wig. It has no netting so you can't detect that it's a wig.

Comment: Leave it to the brothers to pay tribute to the blues/jazzmen back then. We did have a definitive style and class back then. We set trends that people are still following and we knew how to dress and be proud of it. The 20's and 30's was a hell of an era for Black folk. Leave it to air and water to bring forth life, for without it we ain't living.

Comment: regarding the lace fronts, I have heard good and bad things. supposedly alot of stars are now wearing them. but for those who are interested, you may want to ask a stylist that you know, about them, just to see if there is any long-term damage to your scalp etc (which is the rumor that I heard)

Comment: Hello Reflection...when I happened upon that website: www.kinksinc.com the young lady I spoke with (she actually owned the company) was raving about how great lace fronts are, how long they last, well worth the money..yada-yada! She failed to mention (and I failed to ask) if there were any common side effects that clients were experiencing. But that is a great point...I will look into that...thanks!

Comment: I am SO looking forward to seeing this flick! Perhaps, if this does well, maybe they'll bring my favorite space fantasy, "Funkentelechy Vs. The Placebo Syndrome" to the big screen. Imagine: Andre 3000 as StarChild, Snoop Doggy Dogg as Sir Nose, Samuel L. Jackson as Dr. Funkenstein. I need to write a screenplay...PEACE.

Comment: NYCgirl - I'm not sure about the lacefronts but I went to the website you provided and read the other methods of weaving that the owner described (and of course she will rave about it.. it's a money maker for her) but there is a stylist out here who does many of those methods and I know that the fusion one and the strand by strand one is VERY DAMAGING to the hair. I know several people who have gotten them done (despite what they say about no glue, wax it's still the same composition) and their hair fell out.
