Comment: nylaconnect> The point is, as a radio personality, the "powers in charge" expect you to conduct yourself in a professional manner. Like Beyonce and Tina Knowles or not, Beyonce is one of the hottest selling artists out right now -- radio stations need her to perform at Summer Jams, Back to School Jams, Birthday Jams, etc... Making enemies with a recording artist of her caliber can have "ripple effects" with the labels entire roster. Hot 97 management did what they felt was in the best interest of the radio station -- and that's exactly what they're supposed to do.

Comment: What was DJ Envy in the hallway to witness the whole exchange? Was he leaving with Miss Jones? Did he happen to just be arriving at work? If Hot 97 did not want the confrontation to take place, why didn't management order DJ Envy not to mention it on the air? Titillating isn't it? More listeners will tune in tomorrow to hear more about it want they? Miss Jones enjoy your vacation with that big fat bonus.

Comment: Is this Miss Jones still in junior high school or something? Not only was it childish & unprofessional of her to try to diss the lady just because of what she said, but the comeback she used sounds like something my little niece and her friends would use. I'm surprised she didn't tell her to meet her in the gym after lunch so that they could settle things once and for all.

Comment: BRANDON,there is a story in amny today about star, the fired dj,the only thing the radio station expects you to do is get ratings. In the article he said that clear channel wanted him to start a feud with, shot ,i mean hot 97 and when the hit ,hit the fan,he was let go.Here is the web address for said article http://www.amny.com/entertainment/ny-etstar4869197aug3 0,0,3593105.story. Professionalism,is it professional to do a parody song about the tsunami victims, they did on her show and the station let them run it for days maybe even a week.Is calling a west indian I believe head of the mta in New York a coconut professional, calling Star's mom a prostitute on air( his mom is suing) ,brandon forget professionalism on that station, its all about the dollars, revenue and they don't care how it's done, the more crass the more listeners.

Comment: BRANDON,also Beyonce needs them more than they need her,as a former dj I know and you as a listener should realize, a station will pull an artist or labels roster in a heartbeat for any ole reason. Also some dj's have feuds with big artists, the bigger the better, its called drama. There's a saying in radio, you don't get hurt by what you don't play, which for the record I never really believed that. They really dont care about the listener,in a way, because they know the listener will always listen if they play most of the hits.

But Miss Jones is just plain rude and I bet that Hot 97 is paying top dollar for her controversy show. It draw ratings. I am glad to see that no matter what people say about Beyonce, she still deals with it in a professional manner. Kudos for her. She knows she is sitting on top of the world and she doesn't have to sweat off on small-minded jerks like Miss Jones. Beyonce's mom should have did the same but we all know it is hard for Black folks to let stuff just sit and marinate. But it was kinda funny about the makeup *giggle*, b/c it does seem like her mama put too much makeup on.

Comment: After listening to DJ Envy, it was indeed a setup. They told her to leave early so it won't be any confrontation. It was confrontation anyway because there was no heads up by calling/warning about them being in the lobby. Before that, someone in my opinion, messed the time up on purpose. Beyonce's label rep spoke to Miss Jones loud enough for her to hear it. So, the person in charge of the radio station, the person who messed up the time, the person who could've gave a heads up to avoid this, and her label rep especially were looking for drama.

She said she'd not become a Lauryn Hill, but if this kind of stuff keeps coming up, to preserve her sanity, she's gonna have to take a time out. Did you see in Mediatakeout.com that it is reported that she has demanded that JZ quit his job as CEO of Def Jam. I mean, is this stuff for real? The more they try to keep her on top, the bigger the circus will become. Watch, after a while, she's gonna do a Lauryn/Mariah. Watch! How much can one person take? They better watch out before she releases Sasha on their azzes.

What if B and her mother just walked past her a.s.s. and didn't acknowledge her at all. As for Ms. Knowles and Mr. Knowles, they need to know that as a child they could fix everything for B, but she is a woman now and needs to deal with her own issues like a woman. I know the Knowleses' parental instincts are strong but it's a jungle out there, and they got to let the babe fly out the nest one day. If J and B really gets married, J is gonna have some in-law issues for sure. Tina didn't have to go there, true, but Ms Jones is just bitter. Sorry Ms. Jones, you seem like a bitter wannabe. MJB and Faith got what you want but at the rate you're going, like EN VOGUE says: YOU NEVER, NEVER GONNA GET IT! Comment: My thought about this is, if Miss Jones says that she does not do the kissing thing then why is it an issue with Tina? There was no disrespect in that, just a comment on what she likes and doesn't like.
Then why is Tina worried about what people are sying about her daughter, especially if they are not true? They say they are Christians and if that is so then I do not remember Jesus Christ getting bent out of shape over things that were said about him, so since they supposedly are trying to be like Jesus why is what people are sayig bothering Tina?
Hmmmm..... statements must be true and apparently our lives are not the way that we portray.

Comment: Finally, it's coming to light that the "other party" in the whole Star debacle aren't so innocent. I told ya'll before and I'll tell ya'll again... MISS JONES IS A NASTY B*TCH. And she takes every opportunity she can to degrade people - listeners and entertainers alike. During her recent phone interview with Christina Milian she hung up on her when she refused to answer whether her mother was part of the reason she was dropped from Def Jam. And, nylaconnect, you left out one thing. This is also the station/morning show that created SmackFest. http://youtube.com/results?search_query=Hot+97+Smackfe st&search=Search People degraded themselves to win concert tickets. Between the annual shootings in front of the building, "The Tsunami Song," Smackfest, and every other thing Hot 97 has been involved in it's a wonder why they're still allowed to broadcast.

Comment: I think B acknowledged Ms. Jones out of respect, and Ms. Jones who has no love for them was just waiting for her opportunity to put them on blast. In any event, it was unfortunate. I was taught respect. Respect for self and for others, but that's just me, I guess. When I listen to it again, Tina should have just left it alone. But really, Miss Jones did NOT have to get down like that. What if someone spoke like that to Miss Jones mother. I'm sure she would have been all over the person who said that. So now her claim to fame is gonna be she told B's mother she looks like a joker as opposed to being known as a great disc jockey or a good singer. Hot 97 is digging their own graves. This kind of stuff will get played out as their audience gets older. If we don't respect each other, why should other groups respect us?

But this sounds like a case of, "Im the mother of a star and I didnt like what you said to me, so Im going to get you off the air for a good 2 weeks". Comment: I had to chime in on this one. I met Miss Jones years ago (say 93 or 94) at a funeral she sung at here in the NC. I'm aware from a family friend that she has never truly gotten over the fact that her career never really took off. Her job is to be a shock jock and show hate, however, it's truly personal for her when it comes to a highly successful r&b female. For the last few years Beyonce has been the "IT GIRL". Miss Jones hates B b/c she's everything career wise, she wishes she was. (As I was always told, jealousy is a sickness), and this time it has shown it's ugly head.

Comment: Ok, there are categories. They divide the ratings between age groups and also give an overall ratings category. For the 18-34 age group, she went back and forth between 2nd and 3rd while Star was on air. And, she always rated lower for older age groups. Overall, she went back and forth between 3rd and 4th. Since Star has been off the air and replaced by Tigger and Egypt, she has come in 3rd for the 18-34 category. And, overall she rates 4th, which means she comes behind Steve Harvey for young people even. I said it before and I'll say it again - if Star had to go, Miss Jones has got to go and her ratings say other people feel similar.

What it says in the notes of the clip is that she berated the traffic police, those who distribute parking tickets, and threatened violence toward them. " Singer and rapper Miss Jones first earned attention during the mid-'90s, lending her skills to recordings from the likes of Biz Markie, Busta Rhymes, and DJ Red Alert. In 1994, she scored a pair of solo hits with the singles "Where I Wanna Be Boy" and "Don't Front"; however, Jones then left performing to assume an on-air job at station WQHT in New York. Finally, in 1998 she issued her debut LP, The Other Woman."

If the value in announcing on radio that you're interested in harming an innocent party differs based on age, why not put differing values on threats to gender, sexual preference, or racial groups. As no action has been taken, a threat should be seen as it is - words. And, if the value of these words are portrayed as harmful toward one person, it could be just as harmful to another. I don't know about you all, but I consider myself sane and would love to kick a ticketing cop's butt. LOL! That threat could've easily clicked in lots of listener's heads.

Comment: Nylaconnect is right, it did happen that way, which is why I find it remarkable that Miss Jones has turned so distasteful in the past 5 years.
Some people have stated that B's mom was wrong, and that may be. But think about it. Most mothers are not going to let other people say horrible things about their kid (right or wrong) and just take it. It comes with the territory of being a mother.
Miss Jones had the option of moving on as B did. Look ratings are one thing, but inciting a generation of listeners who are listening to this crap, and are simple as hell and have no respect as it is for themselves nor one another, will cause a lot of them to get their butts kicked. Too many people are getting the wrong message and what is even more distrubing is the core audience is 15-34 yrs old. Lord help us!
In closing, I repeat what I stated earlier this morning, you DO NOT disrespect someone's mother...even if they have said something distasteful, leave the nastiness in their mouths and keep it moving. Or suffer the head wounds that will come your way.

I mean, the DJ comes off as ignorant (either one of them could have done the classy thing and just kept stepping), but when people see you rise to the bait (Khufu - you listening?!) then they got you marked! You expose your soft underbelly and the predator will strike - it's a given, in this world of eat or be eaten.

Comment: ...Oh and by the way, That's a quick way to get YOUR AZZ WOOPED, is by talking/disrespecting someone's MOTHER! Anyone else would have laid her BIG AZZ out in that damn hallway. I think that someone at HOT 97 leaked that Beyonce' & her Mother would be in the building. There's no damn way it's a coincidence.

Comment: I think Tina was wrong. If your child can get over it, then why cant you. I mean children dont need to start having pep talks with their parents about how to behave when we go out. I mean there are blogs, radios, news, and all kind of outlets that talk about Beyonce like a dog. Why go off on Miss Jones? Sounds like Tina had something planned or was ready just in case they crossed each other's paths.

Comment: Beyonce's mom and dad need to understand all that fame comes at a price and not everyone is going to like her. You can not get mad everytime someone disses your daughter, even if they are just hating. I know I could never be my daughters manager because I am too sensitive to that kind of thing. As a mom, I know your child is always your baby. That being said Miss Jones is at work and needs to be professional, despite her dislike for the Knowles. I dont think the suspension was valid though because all she did was speak her mind in response to a comment made to her.

Comment: Bouncey's Mom should have kept her thick mouth closed. Actually why the he!! was she there anyway? Isn't Bouncey an adult? Can she walk and talk without her Mom or Dad jumping in like pitbulls. I'm willing to bet this will boast the ratings of the station. If they were so afraid of the reprecussions they would have fired the DJ not suspended her. Also, in response to someone mentioning professionalism in the same conversation with radio personality, that is such the exact opposite of what is expected of them. The more idiotic and controversial the hotter the DJ. I don't live in New York and wouldn't listen to any radio station that would play Bouncey's music. I know I'm NOT in her demographic so I can understand Ms Jones comments about the "artist". She's free to do such. Heck, everyone's a critic. The Mom stepped into some mess and got the worst of it.

Comment: I have not lived in NYC for a few years now but when I go home its always in the early a.m. hours so I get to hear the morning shows and without fail...I always turn from Miss Jones. She is a waste of air and space! She it the epitome of a woman scorned. She is lashing out at all those who have made it and continue to do the job she failed at which was to become a major recording star. The problem is...what she fails to realize it that she makes herself look dumber and dumber with each antic or blowup or tirade she dishes out. Instead of stating, I am a failure and I have no one to be mad at but myself...she inturn lashes out at those who are able to do what she could not do. She is lucky to be in the music industry in any way, shape or form...they have her in a studio because the Reuben Studdard look does not sell well in the music industry (as far as women are concerned)! Once she realizes that she is a washed-up has-been...then and only then....will she be able to let all this hatred go! Bey should have kicked her azz talking about her momma like that ole fat bytch!

Comment: ChocolateBrownGa1, for real. Miss Jones needs her azz kicked. She was rude and totally disrespectful. Why she is still on the air is totally beyond me. She brings nothing to the game but crudeness. What does she have against B anyway?? Brandon, you are so correct. MissJones mess around and she will be out of the industry altogether. Tina was totally in the right. If MissJones is that preoccupied with B, then thank you for the ratings uplift. B tried to be decent with the bytch and she's gonna show her azz like that? Jones is lucky she didn't get the shyt slapped out of her.

Comment: exactly Mothership...The ignorance she spews through the airwaves should be banned. She tries too hard...like she is trying to be the next Wendy Williams or something (who BTW is no prize to radio)...but Jonesy needs to hang it up for she gets seriously hurt one day! Tina should've smacked the shyt out of her azz!

Comment: Twizted - you completely contradicted yourself - you said, "...Miss Jones is at work and needs to be professional, despite her dislike for the Knowles. I dont think the suspension was valid though because all she did was speak her mind in response to a comment made to her." You say she should act professional but all she did was speak her mind - well, which is it? If the Knowles' are going to do their kamikazie marketing of cd's and clothing lines (you seen all the ads they have in the current fashion magazines? What does anyone think of the designs?) then they gotta expect to deal with some who let their envy run out of control.

Comment: So, if you are a star (or anything) and someone makes cracks about you all the time- you'd say nothing? I'm sorry, but Beyonce's mother had every right to respond. The "air kiss" is something that is constantly done in larger cities and it is a sign of consideration- no one wants anyone to mess up their makeup with a lipsticked kiss on the cheek. And, the DJ's nasty response showed just how terribly envious she is of Beyonce. How obvious can you get? Celebrities are some of the most childish people on Earth, so get a clue. The DJ wouldn't just get a suspension- she'd be fired and perhaps blackballed.

Comment: Yeah. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. I'm sorry everyone is NOT going to like you. Just like there are people who turn off Ms. Jones, there are people like me that turn off both Ms. Jones and Bouncey. If she wants to consider herself an artist then like "true" artists you have to handle the praise as well as you do the criticism. If her parents want to be apart of thie business then they will have to learn to flow with the punches. Also, ladybyrd, I was speaking of Corp America when I indicated that lack of professionalism was expected of DJs. The companies don't care about the Knowles' feeling if their listeners tune in. That DJ will probably be back with a renewed contract giving her even more money. Check-out Howard Stern. He left ClearChannel and blew up even bigger on Satellite radio.

Comment: Iwannasay - I said she needs to be professional, I think everyone should be professional at work, but I also think she responded to a comment, so I don't think suspension was warranted. I have been in word battles at work with the little crazy blondes who thinks its cool to say whatever, but I have never been suspended or fired for speaking my mind in response to a situation. I was told to "play nice" and that was the gist of it, and I work as a paralegal. If she would have just walked up to her and said that, hmmm....maybe suspension. They could have reprimanded her in some way for acting less than professional but what it tells me is it is cool for someone with power and money to say something, but since she responded, she was suspended. Had Ms. Knowles not said anything to her, we would not be discussing this on the EUR!

They made the decision to be with her all the time but as soon as someone says something, they get up in arms...who else in the industry does that??

Comment: Miss Jones did nothing wrong she did not say anything to Tina and Tina shold have kept her mouth closed. You all are coming down on Miss Jones but Mama Tina is guilty of wrongdoing also. Just because someone is a celebrity does not make everything they say or do right. Tina is so full of it to me with that comment that she made about boosting Beyonce's popularity or whatever everytime you talk about her.(that's just like an arrogant %*$!( to me)This is my opinion and how I feel about the situation. Miss Jones should have slapped the %*$! out of Tina especially if the heifer got in her face.

I know the first two cuts "Deja Vu" and "Ring the Alarm" are definitely not hitmakers in my book - anybody else heard that? The "Deja Vu" video was awful - she spent most of the video dancing at Jigger's crotch - what message is that sending?
Not a good look indeed!

Comment: Miss Jones is an angry, frustrated, wannabe. It is so obvious, it is embarrassing. The venom directed at everyone is just sickening. I believe she reads this board so Jonesy, give it a rest, babe. You come across as ignorant. I know you tout that Syracuse degree but you and your entire crew sound dumb. So dumb, you make Steve Harvey sound smart. And what a lousy example to be setting for your son. Don't get upset when he starts getting suspended from school on the regular for having a fresh mouth. He learned at home. I am not a Bouncey fan but you, Miss Jones, lack even an ounce of class. I know you think you are in a powerful position sitting behind that mic but always remember, what goes around comes around. You dis EVERY female (Except Keyshia Cole) and then act surprised and hurt that they don't like you. Mind boggling. I hope you've been saving your money. Go ahead and lash out. It seems to be the only way you know how to communicate.
