Comment: Oh please! This chick just wanted to talk about how long and luxurious her own hair can be. LOL

Comment: black folks have so far to go... as much as we try to fight sterotypes from other races we are quick to give into them ourselves on so many levels. Who knowes if it will ever change?

Comment: Actually, I noticed the hair comment too. And my experience has been identical to the letter writer (long hair, short natural, and now growing it back). I think the letter writer did not go into enough detail addressing how different a Black woman is treated based on her hair and the effect it can have on her. To each her own, but if you've never voluntarily worn your hair short and natural, you don't really get it.

Comment: I see both sides of this-->But I think AC emphasized the length to point out women wearing these damn weaves, extensions and wigs. That shyt is so ugly, tired and played out. Will the real hairstyles please stand up! Yes, not just in the black community, but in Society in general, women with longer hair are supposed to be considered more sexy and desirable by men. We let men dictate to us what sexy is...enough of that already-everybody can do you, but do you know who you really are with all the lacefronts? Tyra, I am talking to you! Take the fake shyt off. Its cool to change up your look every now and then but all the time with these ugly wigs!!! Ugh! Lets be happy with us--nappy, straight, dyed, short, mid length, long or curly. We don't need all the dam wigs and weaves all the dam time.

Comment: I think the writer is hilarious. She is really on her own stuff! I have long hair and I used to get mad at the weave-heads cuz I had to grow mine...I was like I took 2-3 years to grow this mess and they got theirs glued/braided on in a few hours, nah! Go 'head wit that!...LOL...But now I see white folk with weaves all the time so it's not a black thing anymore, really. I guess it's just fun for people to have new looks. I will say that men I have talked to like long REAL hair and are okay with short/medium length REAL hair. They don't like the feel of weaves. That's what they say. And most hate braids with a passion. Love of long hair has and probably always will be an issue with black women, sad as it is. I know that when I cut my hair 7 years ago, I didn't necessarily get less play but it was still shoulder length. I DID get less play when I got chunky. That is the truth! Had to put on my running shoes and get that off...

Comment: I don't "need" my wigs b/c my hair flows down my back *tosses curls for emphasis* However, I love my wigs and weaves. B/c my hair is naturally curly and I don't have a relaxer, it does not stay straight when pressed or blow dried. The Dominicans can only do so much. So, during the summer, if I want to have straight hair I wig it up or weave it up. Plus, I workout, so weaves and wigs are great if you're like me and want to change your look at will OR you have a professional image to uphold so you can't be coming to work with some doo doo pony tail in your hair b/c you didn't feel like curling it this morning. With that said, who gives a f*ck what these men want, why is what they want dictating how someone wears their hair? Do men know what it's like to deal with hair everyday? It's not like the man is gonna get up in the morning and flat iron your sh!t. So basically his opinion means nothing.

Comment: Just to set the record straight--weaves and extensions started with white women! Back in the day Farah Faucette and Raquel Welch (just to name 2 ) were getting extensions and weaves to make their hair look fuller. Only the rich and famous could afford to have it done. Sistahs are new to the game thats all. And ain't no man asked me for some hair yet! LOL
