Comment: It seems to me that they both seem to be in a safe place, which may smart on both their parts. As far as those of us outside of the relationship, I guess it is what it is, but it's not what it seems. All of us who've really been in love knows that love hurts like hell, but if no one is leaving, the couple just kinda settles in to what it is, and if ain't broke, then don't fix it [with marriage ??] Monogamy seems to be more idealistic than realistic for some and marriages mostly break up because of infidelity and financial issues. As for the children, by the time they are grown and have to make the same choices, the world, I'm sure will be a different place. For baby boomers like myself and my children, there has already been a shift from most of the values we knew as a child. There are many things that were not accepted when we are younger (or for that matter didn't even exist publicly) that seems to be the norm today. So who knows? Comment: I've been critical of Kim in the past, but I must say that she has handled the situation well. She is not walking around in denial. She knows who Diddy is and is well aware of the fact that he will cheat on her whenever he pleases. In addition, he owns the homes, etc., so he can come and go as he pleases. They have an "understanding" as the old folks used to say and it works for them. On the other hand, I don't buy all of that mess about being a strong, full black woman. Since when does that mean that you have to put up with someone blatantly disrespecting you? That's why we have such high rates of mental illness and preventable diseases that are often associated with stress. Trying to be the strong black woman and holding all of that pain in will kill your azz.

They also brought their women around their mother and she worked to maintain relationships with the girlfriends and wives. I always found this odd until I found out that my grandmother had her last child outside of her marriage and it was common knowledge in their small Mississippi community. On top of that, the other man was always around. This contributed to my uncle's lack of respect for her and subsequently, women.

But b/c this has gone on so long, I think she is cheating herself out of a relationship with someone who actually respects her enough to let her know the deal. If he, after all this time, isn't sure about her, he probably never will be. There is one thing to be a forgiving person but after somebody keeps treating you like that at some point you got to get a hold of your self respect. Comment: Kimmie...I dont think that men think marriage is a more serious commitment than having children. As a matter of fact thats part of the whole issue. Marriage is a conscious commitment. "Having children" is often accidental and unplanned, so it doesnt necessarily require a commitment for it to take place (although you would hope the man would step up and do the right thing for his kid after his child is born). The point is though, when a woman keeps having babies with a man who is unwilling to commit to her, more often than not, things end up badly, both for her and the kids.

Comment: In the Chicago Sun Times Newspaper there was an article about the spread of STD specifically HIV, and they found out that multiple partners is not as huge a risk factor as initially thought, the problem is that people are not using condoms to protect themselves period. Now this is not condoning multiple partners at all simply it confirms what I have always thought, people do not think this will happen to them so they don't ask questions, don't question lifestyles and most importantly they do not protect themselves and unfortunatle contrary to popular belief marriage does not stop STDs, people will cheat and not only cheat but cheat without bothering to protect themselves and their spouse who unknowingly think that man/woman is true.

You can't "find" us because you keep running after the "other" types- the ones you complain about because that's all you think you deserve. You attract what you expect. Raise your low self-esteem and refuse to put up with "trifling" behavior. And yes, you can be a "good" man or woman and still attract the sh*t if you don't think you deserve better. Demand more and don't "settle." And don't ask for what you don't have yourself. Soon, I found "good" men everywhere I went. But- we took the time to establish trust and respect in our relationship BEFORE we had sex. And we really LIKED each other, besides. And, to me, he is the sexiest and most loving man on the planet. He is truly a "good" man, but he was lonely before me because he didn't drive a fancy car or treat women badly. Never mind that he earns a very high income- and no, I wasn't looking for that. And I truly love this man, but I had to learn to love myself, first. And that's the key- love yourself, and good things will follow. I did it, and you can, too.

We're less tolerable of a woman cheating on us and still choosing to stay with him. Comment: I think some women stay in abusive relationships, and this is just my opinion, because (1) they have never seen a real relationship(no loving examples) (2) they have seen relationships that have the woman being submissive & think it is the norm (3) have been told their whole life that it is the woman's duty, because of religion, to keep her man happy in any way. I know there are more reasons other than these. My sister-in-law knew her husband was cheating & said "I am not going to divorce him because he takes care of me." Comment: MrUnapologetic that's because unbeknownst to a lot of men - y'all have the unmitigated gall to still hold old values over a woman's head. It's okay for a man to cheat and a woman to stay but let a woman cheat, he may or may not let her stay but you know in his heart he wants her to go cause she got with another man. Men have figured out that when some women cheat it's emotional and they can't compete with that. Men on the other hand cheat and it means nothing or so they say. We just have to start coming to the table more real with each other. If you want to just kick it with someone then say that and if you're expecting some kind of a relationship, keep your nekkid business to yourself and make sure everything that you do together goes into getting to know each other on several different levels. Relationships aren't complicated - it's people overthinking the process that causes the confusion.

Comment: Mr. Unapologetic37, the reason I am making these observations is because I want people to understand that one need to be realistic about what you are doing period. I have had this discussion before and I have heard the blanket statement that specifically black women are getting HIV because they have become more promiscuous, but there are still people who have only had one partner and become HIV positive, simply everyone should be aware period, also as long as we think its only happening to 'Hoes' some people go so far as to think it's their just desserts, that also gets people thinking that if they are in a committed relationships there is no possilibity of getting a STD. Again I am absolutely not advocating multiple partners and certainly IF people are really committed and not just giving lip service to the idea because it sounds good that is the idea situation.

I too am a product of a beautiful, wonderful, hard-working single mother and I promised myself that I would NOT have a child until I was married. That's why I'm the last of all my friends to have a baby. Now, I know marriage is no guarantee and God only knows what the future holds.
