Comment: Snicker: Don't get me started at work. You can't forget about Sardines hey and pork n' beans or how about: the policeman is on the premise, what is he doing in here?!! Bigchassie: Go-Go music is more about the heavy drums, congos, bongos and call and response. When you hear it it makes you shake yo azz. My favorites were Little Benny, Rare Essense, Trouble Funk, EU and of course the Godfather, Chuck Brown. Go-Go music originated here in DC but some others have heard it. I have a friend in Harlem who called me one evening all excited because Chuck Brown was in Harlem at some park doing a free concert and he said Chuck tore it up!! Chuck was downtown in DC on Pennsylvania Ave. (about a block from the White House)two months ago doing a free concert at lunch time and there were literally hundres of people partying for lunch. Many Gubment workers either played hooky or took the rest of the afternoon off to party. It was off the hook!! Chuck attracts people from the ages of 2 to 80, no joke!!

Comment: Being a DC native I've always loved me some Go Go, especially my boy, Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers. I tried to get my boys out here in Cali to listen to it while growing up but they wasn't feeling it.

Comment: --->oldsoul i'm not really into the new go-go, it's ok....i mostly listen to old school go-go.

Name: oldsoul
Comment: Snicker> Yeah, seems like that's the trend across the board when it comes to music...and I'm not one of those people that stay stuck in the times of their generation - I stay open - but the stuff out now just doesn't interest me, ya know?

Name: Snicker
Comment: --->oldsoul i understand what you mean, i love all kinds of music but sometimes certain types of music is just better whether it's old or new....go-go to me was just better back in the day just like r&b music was better to me back in the day as well even though i do listen to some of the new r&b music if it's good and worth listening to but most of it isn't.

Comment: Awwww shat now. Putting go-go forefront in a movie. I know the soundtrack will be CRANKIN'! Chassie> Go-Go music, when you hear it, even if you THINK you don't like it at first, it does get your body moving. Its just the pulse of the music and the drums have everything to do with it. Go-Go artists usually put their own spin on popular songs now, but they do do some originals as well, usually shouting out the ins and outs of DC/MD/NOVA area. I was a transplant to the area to attend school and I have loved Go-Go ever since. Actually Chassie> the song "Da Butt" was a go-go song done by the EU Band. But there are so many good ones out there. Of course the Godfather - Chuck Brown and Rare Essence some of my all time favs.
