Comment: rip Mr. Levert, who cares what usher had too say, why dont people like usher kiss people %*$es while there alive. He seem so fake to me. Keith Sweat or Johnny Gill or even steve Harvey seemed better talkin about Gerald.

Name: Teigh
Comment: Perhaps Usher was simply "paying respect" Gerald Levert was around long before Usher; although Usher has had much more commercial success than Gerald Levert. What's interesting to me is that EUR obviously picked this story up lock stock & barrel from another source. The hit song with Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill was "My Body" Casanova was recorded with Levert. Come on EUR get it together!

Comment: Whoa BettyB! I take it you don't like Usher. Whether or not he seems fake to you, he was there to celebrate the life of a loved one. Who are you to pass judgment on that because you don't like him. You don't know what that man is going through. How do you think you would feel if someone you cared about passed away and you went the family to offer your condolences and they told you that you were not welcome there because you never really cared at all? You need to slow your roll boo.

Comment: Sorry everyone. I got a little caught up. I didn't even speak. Hello to my fellow EUR'ians. I know most of you don't know me because I don't post much anymore, but I have been a member for some time. I am still a bit in shock about Gerald. Let us all keep the families and friends of Gerald Levert and Ed Bradley in our prayers.

Comment: I saw a few of the performances from the memorial on TV one's website. It looks like it was a nice send off...........FYI BET will reair their 30min tribute tonight at 7:30.

Name: 2ndChance
Comment: Teigh they just didn't clarify which group they were talking about. Johnny and Keith did perform Casanova at the service.

Comment: my jaws are tighter than dick tracy's hatband that i missed the ceremony due to being in Belgium. i hope our people did a good job in paying their respects..so far i heard nothing but good things. its about time.

Name: Snicker
Comment: --->2ndChance i don't want to seem like i'm being petty or anything but BET could have given the man more than 30 minutes.....when i was looking at it i was shocked that it only lasted 30 minutes and they kept putting bobby brown's twisted mouth azz on the screen, i wish they could have found somebody instead of him....but at least they did something, i guess.

Name: 2ndChance
Comment: They give everyone 30 min though. Unfortunately some people don't get anything so I'll take Gerald's 30. I did love seeing the clips on Video soul. I'm recording video soul gold this week on BETJ just hoping they will air one of his interviews. He was a funny guy. Bobby.........I just don't know what to say. His jaw looked disconnected. Maybe they chose B because G's closest friends may not have been able to handle it. Most of them were breaking down on radio interviews so I'm sure they weren't ready for the camera.

Comment: 60 minutes gave ed bradley an hour but like i said with BET you have to take whatever you can get, heck i would have taken 15 minutes from BET because you know how they are.

Name: 2ndChance
Comment: yes but you know if ed was just a correspondent rather than a 30yr employee he wouldn't have been mentioned either, especially on CBS. I'm surprised BET even aired that though I'm glad they did since I missed it last week...goodplenty they have clips on black america web http://www.blackamericaweb.com/site.aspx/entertainment /index/geraldlife

Name: Snicker
Comment: --->2ndChance you're right that's why i said i would have taken 15 minutes from BET.

Name: ChocolateBrownGal
Comment: First and foremost, the BET Tribute was ONLY 15 minutes considering it aired so many freakin COMMERCIALS!!!! What the heck was that about??!?!?!? As for Ed Bradley, do you mean to tell me that if CBS didn't release its footage to BET, they wouldn't have aired anything? That's troubling. But hey, I guess I'll take what I can get, not much so I need to wake up and set my expectations a lot lower when it comes to BET. Sorry to be salty, folks. I just think our people deserve a whole lot more respect from BET.

Comment: Let's not forget BET is no longer Black Owned. Protest their programing by sending e-mail,letters, make phone calls sooner or later they have to improve what they put on the air, boycot their shows. Let's hope TV One's new up coming show will showcase our people in a positive light, and we won't need to watch BET,inside edition or et tonight.

Comment: EURWEB you have it wrong... Levert break out song was C%*$anova not LSG (Levert, Sweat and Gill). Did anyone get any remarks from the other member of Levert (not Sean)?

Name: bettyb
Comment: no Jfrommo I need to speak my mind..I dont dislike usher and he has the right to attend Gerald's home going just like any one else I just thought it seemed right for some 1 that was closer to Gerald to be on eurweb speaking about him. Im not passing judgement just expressing an opinion. And who cares if usher should more records then Gerald, maybe your the 1 thats not a fan of G Levert.

Comment: >Snicker, I laughed OUT LOUD AT MY DESK! Bobby Brown's Twisted Mouth Azz, now that shyts was funny!!!!

Comment: You can watch most of the service on TV One's website: http://www.tvoneonline.com/screeningroom/screeningroom _geraldlevert.asp

Name: bigheadbull2
Comment: Patti was a friend of his and expressed a deep desire to pay musical tribute to G. Was she even in attendance? Discuss

Name: Chica
Comment: If you want to get up close and personal with what went on at Gerald's Memorial Service, check out www.WOIO.com and put his name in the search browser. You can see and hear the program, including his children giving their thoughts on their Dad. His son, Lemicah sounds so much like Gerald that it's kind of eerie.

Name: MOTHERSHIP
Comment: Why is it that folk always throw a negative spin on shyt all the time? Let the brother (Usher) celebrate his mentor's memory in peace, damn! That's one helluva choir up in heaven right about now, Gerald, Luther, Marvin, Barry White, Ruth Brown, Sam Cooke.

Name: tsktsk
Comment: Patti was at the funeral at Cleveland's Masonic Auditorium on Thursday and at the memorial on Friday, but it is my understanding that she was too shaken. Angela Winbush did a great job though. Here is the correct link to TV One's coverage of the service. At the last minute the local radio station here, at the request of the family, decided not to air the whole thing in its entirety, which made me mad b/c I didn't go. http://www.tvoneonline.com/community/geraldleverttribu te.asp

Comment: RIP, Gerald!

Name: ChocolateBrownGal
Comment: >>>Missgee...I understand that BET is no longer Black Owned, but Heck it still touts itself as being BLACK Entertainment!!!! So who are they referring to? The color Black and not the race of African-Americans!?>!?!!??? And even when it was Black Owned, Bob Johnson wasn't doing that great of job pushing educating or keeping the folks informed either. But sho you right, emailing and voicing our discontent should offer some kind of solution to this problem.
