Comment: I think we as black people need to more mindful of the influnece we have in the world. I am currently in the Peace Corps in Africa and once an African know that I am an American they then they would say oh you are a "%*$!(". This has happen several times and I really hate it but I know they get it from listening to American hip-hop music and movies. I think we really need to try our best not to use the N-word. We shouldn't make excuses regardless of the person's race to use the N-word towards us!

Comment: I thought it was funny when Paul Mooney said that the only way Michael Richards can make this up is to perform at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem or he can stand in the middle of South Central LA and wear the color "red".

Name: SheriBeri
Comment: You're absolutely right, Katso. I remember seeing a picture of a store in Africa somewhere having the sign Ni**ers on their storefront. And they were just as proud. We need to realize that even though we want to be seen as indviduals, we all represent each other. Each individual AA person represents the whole race in the eyes of the world. I know its not fair but what was really offensive to me was when he said 50 years ago, you would have been hanged with a fork in your azz and Oh, NOW you can talk, etc. In other words, how DARE he talk to a white man like that. He was talking about the power of his WHITE skin over our BLACK skin. He can take his apology and shove it up his azz!

Comment: Michael Richards is a racist....but he is just one of many. Why are wwe surprised????

Name: FiveMore
Comment: Richard's apology must come from the heart to be taken seriously. If the apology seemed coaxed or ingenuine, he shouldn't have done it.Why would he say those words to anyone? What if Black comedians called him a Khike(sp) or a Hymie(sp) in one of their performances? You know I never hear disgusting terminology hauled at anyone but black people.African Americans must revaluate the use of the word, because it still has power and hurt when hurled at defenseless people.Kramer apologize if you must but the damage is done. What do you have to say now hiphop community?

Name: goodnplenty1957
Comment: I agree with Five, look at hip-hoppers, etc saying the same words.. its hyppocritical. i never watched the jerry seinfeld show, but i know for a fact jerry wouldnt have put up with it. George Kirby is best friend and was best man at jerry's wedding. only reason richards is sorry,,is that he sorry it was all out in the media and he cant deny what he said. i aint buying his apology.

Name: fanteeking
Comment: On CNN yesterday, comedian Paul Mooney stated emphatically that Michael Richards was not Jewish but either Catholic or atheist, take your pick. Really, what difference does it make? A racist is a racist. I do hope and pray that the hip hoppers and rappers will think twice about glorifying this horribly offensive word in their music. However with the presence of greedy, record company moguls who scrape every dollar off the bone, this is about as likely as finding evidence that George W did go to Viet Nam in 1968 and served two tours of duty and won the Purple Heart for bravery. Yeah, fatt chance.

Comment: It's not like I ever watched Seinfeld or supported anything Michael Richards has appeared in, so I don't guess his income is coming from us anyway. He just had to show contrition to the powers-that-be in Hollyweird, he already showed that he could give a damn about us. As far as the n-word, we need to stop throwing it around amongst ourselves like a kid throwing quarters around an arcade, and then get SO OFFENDED whenever we hear anyone else say it.

Name: Monicia
Comment: Michael Richards, along with thte rest of America is saying a word that isused about 600 times a day. If we as black people continue to use this term, and find it acceptable, how will it be before you think that White America will say," Well, they say, why can't I"?. We as a people need to not use this deragaorty "term of endearment". Wake up and get a clue!

Name: khufu
Comment: here we go again....so that you woont participate in your own diversion...he didnt just say the N word several times...he also said other derogatory words and comments about Black folks...if you just focus on the N word, you'll be hoodwinked and bamboozled..................AGAIN...*sigh*...yall aint tired of being hypnotized?

Name: NYCsoul
Comment: ITA with most of the comments but again, just as we at fault for dropping the ball in not educating our children about themselves, it still does not give Richards the excuse to say what he said. 'N' word is one issue. The other issue is the disturbing statements he made about lynching and the fact that he's 'rich', he could have had those brothers arrested. I'm like WTF? Of course, what he said was true but statements like THOSE should not get lost in this controversy. The focus should be on those statements as well.

Comment: Reality...his career is over? LOL dont be fooled again....residuals from Seinfeld will keep him rich...let's see...he is a 33rd Degree Mason...therefore politically connected....David Letterman had him as a guest......David Letterman had him as a guest...Letterman ever have Farrakhan on? Nah, if he were going to be ostracized, he would not have been booked on Letterman. How many Black folks call Letterman and complain and threaten to protest? Letterman scheduling him was a nod of support........how many Black folks are willing to show uup at any performance venue Kramer is scheduled to perform to protest?

Comment: SheriBeri, Shakaz00117, and Khufu are all right!!! I am a firm believer from my early childhood days that God will always show black people what some white people STILL Feel and always felt inside their hearts! My mother told us, people will always show you who they really are eventually! Did anyone listen to 101.3The Big M. yesterday, did you see the 2 men on channell 4 news this morning that richards attacked in the audience? Everyone keep looking and listening, there are more racists people that God is going to let out of the closet while we are living in 2007 and the years to come in front of our children. Lets stop watching so much BET rapping with our kids and teach them what they are up against in this REAL world. And teach them about our past strong black people who stood up and spoke to protect all our people from this hate and took the aftermath from alot of white people, that's still going on! The question is, what will all Black people do when this keeps on happening?!

Name: Teigh
Comment: I'm not defending Michael Richards but KHUFU understand this Jerry Seinfeld was the guest on David Letterman and it was Jerry Seinfeld who asked David Letterman could he have Michael Richards come on and address the situation. Of which Letterman agreed and the musical act was bumped fromt he show. We've been told to write letters and march for years. Let's use an example from the recent OJ book and TV show -- when WE start showing America and the World that kind of behavior won't be tolerated than it will stop -- and that has nothing to do with David Letterman. If we are going to write letters why aren't you posting the mailing information for every rapper who uses the word or presents us in a negative light.

Comment: khufu, I ain't writing noboby about this mess! I think it a good thing that Michael spoke his mind. It's time we as a people get a clue at how a large part of America still view us. This is our wake up call to check ourselves and revisit how we communicate to each other and the images we put forth. We're all a represent a finger on the hand of the black race - metaphorically speaking (like it or not). How can we hold someone accountable for being disrespectful when we aren't self-respecting? And let me say this, I don't think we can EVER eradicate racism either. That type of cancerous hatred is a heart issue in my opinion. The problem I had as a result of this incident is that I couldn't help but to feel that we took part in this somehow... I feel we may have empowered Michael Richards in our hip hop music, video image, excessive use of the N-word and so forth to feel comfortable to say these things. He's says he was upset - yeah whateva! I accept his apology (believe my faith teaches me that) and I do believe he feels bad, but not for the reasons he claims. Damnit we know better! What that man said come from the gut of his soul and should NOT be overlooked. It's time. What are we going to do?

Comment: David Letterman didnt have him on as a guest. He had Jerry Seinfeld on as a guest. Jerry is the one that asked that they talk to this guy via satelite- to give him a chance to apologize.

Comment: whats funny about all of this is that last week at my job I would over hear conversations between YTs discussing OJ. Oh they were going on and on. I havent heard them talk about this story at all. I think white people have egg on their faces. We know thats how the majority of them still think in the back of their minds. But they are not suppose to say it in such a public forum and getting caught doing so is so embarrassing.

Comment: MrUnapologetic37 I dont think hip hop or our use of the word had anything to do with him. That was embedded in his brain from the time he was a child. Thats how he thinks, and I'm sure thats how he was raised to think. Why are we blaming ourselves for the actions of this bigot? F him.

Comment: Black comedian defends Michael Richard’s alleged racist remarks by DC Livers for BlackPressMagazine.com In an exclusive interview, BlackPressMagazine.com has learned that Black comedian Loni Love, who is also running for president in 2008, is defending white comedian Michael Richards' racist outburst at the Laugh Factory over the weekend. Love has been featured on Black comedy programs like BET Comic View, Def Jam Comedy and other ethnic-oriented programs. So, why is she defending Michael Richards against allegations of racism? “I have mixed emotions about it,” said Love, who starred with Mo’Nique on the movie, Soul Plane. “People take stand up comedy for granted. They think that it’s easy. The problem that a lot of actors do is try to use stand up to go over to acting. You’re going to get hecklers and he just didn’t know how to handle it. “I’m not defending him because I met him but to the point of being a comic. Every comic has been heckled...it’s embarrassing. I’ve said things that I have not have said but because I’m seasoned, I know how to lightening it up. But to say that he’s a racist, I’ve never gotten that feeling.” Love is concerned that Richards is being unfairly singled out. “I’m not saying what he said was right, but he thought he was trying to be funny,” she said. “This is a good example for up and coming comics to look at as to what not to do.” So would Richards have reacted the same if the heckler had been an Asian woman or a Hispanic man? Love isn’t as sure. “It would have been a different type of stereotype. The isse that I’m having is that everybody wants to talk about this one incident. We have rappers say the n-word and nobody says anything about that. I mean, you turn on BET and that’s more of a travesty. But, because this white man says it everybody is upset,” said Love. The Seinfeld star was caught on tape in what some are calling a racist tirade.

Comment: GHank, I LOVE Mr. Paul Mooney and was wonderin' what he thought about the whole thing. Thanx for adding that! Shakaz0117, exactly! WHY ARE WE SURPRISED!!?? Him using the N word doesn't bother me. You call me a name, I'll call you two names, we can go back and forth like Richard Pryor and Chevy Chase on that old episode of Saturday Night Live. Sticks and stones... It's what he said about "if it was 50 years ago...". I know that A LOT of them with they could go back in time so they can snap their fingers and make us disappear. As for the apology, B*LLSH*T!!!! But, Michael Richards ain't doin' a d*mn thing for me. He doesn't make me laugh, he ain't puttin' food in my mouth, clothes on my back or a roof over my head. Later for him. At the end of the day, he has God to answer to. I let God sort him out.

Name: NYCsoul
Comment: soulsis: It's like talking the wind. Everyone keeps focusing on ONLY the fact that he said the 'n' word but his other statements hardly get any notice. We are not looking at his statements in its entirety. This guy is 57 years old and to simply say that because rappers have been saying it for the past 15-20 years, somehow, we are being too hard on this guy. This is ridiculous. He needs to take responsiblity and accountability for his actions. He's too old to make that kind of flimsy excuse.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: The guys who Michael (f using Mr. Richards)was offensive towards were on the Today show this morning. They stated that they weren't heckling him. They walked in at least 15 deep and it got kind of loud. It was then that loco Kramer went into his ranting. That's when they commented that he wasn't even funny. The guys stated they weren't there a good 10 min. before he went off. They also stated that they were with Asian, white and hispanic friends. But,for some reason he chose to focus on the blacks. Why, because he's a racist mofo and as far as I'm concerned he can stick that apology up his crack. These brothers are represented by Gloria Albright and are planning to sue. I don't know what kind of case they have but I can only wish that some judge finds it in the law where they can be compensated. It would be totally satisfying for me to see these young men get rich off of this jerks money.

Name: Reds
Comment: Are folks trying to blame blacks for white's use of the n. This is a serous error in judgment and only underscores how little we know about white people. If you think that black's use of this word encourages whites to do the same, then you really need to put on some makeup like they did on Bravo, and infiltrate white society. Whites use this word a hundred times more than we do, they have been using it long before we did, and they will continue to use it (mostly discreetly) long after we gave it up. Another senseless argument, is the one that calls blacks who use the n word hypocrites for chastising Kramer. What Richards did is completely different from say a white comedian using it in comedy. In the latter case, you could make the hypocritical argument. If you want to find a comparison with what Richards did, then you need to find a case of a black person racially denigrating another black person with the n word, in the manner that Richards did (an impossible scenario). It's OK to lobby for a ban of the use of this word by blacks, but don't mistake this with the caustic and derogatory manner in which whites use it. They are a billion miles away and has absolutely no influence on each other.

Comment: 1.I meant to say I'LL let God sort him out. And 2. This Loni Love has GOT to be kidding me! Talkin' about he was bein' heckled and didn't know how to handle it...it's tough bein' a comedian... NO SH*T! As corny as his a$$ is, he should be used to being heckled! And as a white comedian pointed out, he could have attacked their clothes or anything else. But he said what he felt wishin' he could be back a few years so he could have 'em lynched. And what Loni Love said about him being SINGLED OUT!? Heifer, PLEASE!!!!! Every other white comedian may feel that way, but Richards was the one who said it! That's why he's being singled out. Come on now!

Name: Samo_samo
Comment: This is just an example of what lies beneath most white people. It takes the least provocation, insult or perceived disrespect for them to "black" out and say what they really think of you. For me it is not the use of word n!gger that bothered me most. It was Michael Richards insinuation that 50 years ago, he could have and would have lynched and violated his hecklers. That's what I'm having a rough time dealing with. For that comment alone he seems really unapologetic. Obviously this line of thinking (n!gger, lynch, violate, humiliate) is still common and still in the consciousness of many whites. When a white person calls you a n!gger it is an instant attempt to dehumanize you and opens the door for them to do (or wish they could do) much worse to you. It kills me a case in NY where they had some white boys on charges for viciously beating a black man, they began the attack by calling him a n!gger. These geniuses then tried to say that they were using '%*$!(' as a greeting or term of endearment. Thank God the jury saw right through that. To paraphrase Chris Rock, most whites secret will tell you they love black people, it's just n!ggers they hate. The problem is at any given moment, for the least little offense, you or I could go from the black people they love, to the n!ggers they hate. Michael Richards proved that.

Comment: I'm saying one more thing then getting off this train, as NO ONE BLACK SHOULD BE SURPRISED and if you are count yourself as one of the many Black people out here living is some kind of self imposed fantasy land shirking from reality. - Far too much emphysis has been put onto the fact that Black rappers and other Black folk use the "N" word and this argument is smoke and mirrors at best. There should be no correlation or even attempts to associate young Black's using this word with a racist person of another race using it as a verbal sledge hammer against someone Black, period point blank! It's like comparing apples to oranges and I'm sick of whites and others acting all upset about "not being able" to use the word when we all know full well they use it at will and freely. Their ONLY issue is with not being comfortable or taking a heck of a risk speaking like this in mixed company. And to me that's a cop out. If they want to call Black people N's so bad I say go right ahead and do it, your free to do so. But don't running crying should someone react to it. Damn shame. What's worse is not White folks reaction to this IMHO, but ours. I just find it totally unbelivable that so many Black people out here today are so totally divorced from their history and so willing to forget. But then again, these are the blacks out here crying about this racists comments and all suprised about it. So maybe some of those closet sell outs may get shocked into the realities of what it means to be Black in this world today. - One more comment, what stinks even more is the fact that while our country is engaged in two wars currently with a whole bunch of those "N"s as kramer refers to us, out there fighting, dying and returning home sans limbs yet he and others still show abject contempt towards Black folk. At the end of the day it's up to US to wake up and start handling our business and it starts in the home first. I just wish we got this worked up over the fact that the majority of our children being born today are being born into single mother households. NOW THATS SOMETHING TO GET WORKED UP OVER!!!

Comment: I am African American woman myself, I am deeply hurt by the whole entire situation, but also understand that as African American's if we want respect from other races we must learn to respect ourselves as a race. We can not get mad with someone from another race when they use the "N" word if we (blacks) call each other the same thing on a daily basis. I love hip hop music and rap but every day you hear Jay-Z, Jim Jones, 50, etc... use the same lyrics. So if we accept that behavior from artist (which we shouldn't) what makes anyone think that we shouldn't accept it from Richards? Also as far as Richards is concerned I have not heard alot about it in the media. I work for a prominent newspaper company and throughout this entire week I looked in the paper and not one article has been in there about the incident. Yet when Mel Gibson said something about the Jewish community it was ALL OVER THE NEWS whether tv or newspapers. It rather funny but sad. When Michael Richards made those comments it just goes to show you what other races really feel about us, but are just afraid to say it. I can say that I respect him in a sense because he let it be known how he actually feels about our race and the "couple" of black friends that he says that he has, just know that you are a token N*&%&r in his eyes!

Comment: Katso, i have heard of several persons who have had your experience. Yes, some rappers have a problem with use of the epithet. But with travelers who have been called the epithet could the problem be with particular individuals? I ask that because, in most instances, when rappers rap they don't identify race when they use the epithet. So why is it i have not read of any white person being called that? Could it be that some Africans that call Black travelers to the Motherland by the derisive term feign innocence as to knowing its significance? I have heard a fraction of Africans in certain countries have no regard for noncontinental Black visitors while showing an afinity for whites. Perhaps, there lies the reason for why some few Africans use the word on us.

Well, let's say your station has the show on where you live...you get 1000 people to sned letters to the sponsors and the station tellig them unless they as sponsors pull their sponsorship you will boycott their products and do the same wtih the TV station....tell the tv station that the next time their license comes up before the FCC for renewal you will contact your newly elected DEMOCRATIC GOVT and the FCC to protest their license..TV 101

Comment: Hi Mrseoliver, I'm in NY and our NY Daily News ran about 3 pages on the situation. Kenny Kramer, on whom the Kramer character is based, has "The Kenny Kramer Reality Tour". The real Kramer as he sometimes refers to himself is now worried that this incident might affect his business...as well he should. Then again, there are a lot of racists out there who might go in droves now.

Comment: mrseoliver, with all due respect, you haven't been looking closely enough. The Today show lead this story twice in its opening montage, and when I looked last night, Google News had over 1300 articles referring to this. And just to add my opinion to this mix, when you can make comments like Richards did off the tippy-top, in the heat of anger, that's your heart speaking, and only a genuine racist could have even gone there. And it is EXTREMELY disingenious to try to compare blacks using the n-word affably (or not) among themselves with having it HURLED at us by an angry white man. That shouldn't need to be explained to anyone, much less another black person.

Comment: To Unapologetic37 on your first post re: this subject, I co-sign your comments 100%. Racism will never go away and Michael Richards' comments mirrored what he truly feels. There is a scripture that says 'out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh'. As far as what can be done, talk to 50 cent, Jay Z and all of these PAID hip-hoppers. They need to perform positive songs about the issues of the day (using proper English would be refreshing too), find women who are not willing to dress like hoochies for their videos, develop tutoring programs for inner-city kids (complete w/guards cause ya know how knuckleheads are), and stop using stereotypes of their own people, to get paid....that's not talent, that's being an opportunist at the expense of the black children. IMHO. Help ourselves and stop waiting for somebody else to do it.

Name: BlackThought
Comment: I would like to reiterate a comment that was made earlier today...it's a good thing this has come to the light. It's time that people stop brushing racism under the rug. It's time that blacks begin to empower themselves through knowledge and understanding of self. It's time that we teach our children the same and stop putting so much energy into changing the way others (especially the white population) sees us. Once we embrace our differences, instead of trying to hide them or change them, then we as a people will thrive. This whole situation runs deep and proves that we (blacks) are all over the place as a people. I love being black and could give a f.u.c.k less what Kramer's azz thinks. As far as I'm concerned, he's the n.i.g.g.e.r. That word is no longer limited to blacks...IMO!

Comment: I'm tired of US making blanket statements about US. I don't call anyone by that name and don't allow anyone to speak that way. BTW, WE all don't listen to hip-hop or rap. I don't even know the difference between the two and don't really care. As far as Mr. Richards is concerned, he had a melt-down and lashed out the only way he knew how; which was to hit really low below the belt. If it hadn't been a Black person he would have probably used equally demeaning language. He needs to get help with his anger and try to determine where all that is coming from. He's a rich man, so if stand-up is not in the cards for him he should move on. So, should we. This is just another fatal accident that we keep watching over and over again. Let's stop being Lookey Lous and just leave it be.

Comment: >nightshift - I agree with you. Michael Richards was just expressing what was already on the inside of him - I expect that from people like him, and when it happens, I am not surprised and outraged at all. However, black americans are the biggest proponents of using the N word and other deregatory words against each other, so, until we stop using it towards each other, I don't expect folks of other cultures to stop calling us deregatory names either. We can be our own worst enemy.

HE ALSO NEEDS TO HOST THE NEXT BET HIP HOP AWARDS, THE SOURCE AWARDS, AND THE SOUL TRAIN AWARDS. HE NEEDS TO GO TO THE APOLLO AND PERFORM HIS ACT. HE NEEDS TO SIT DOWN AND HAVE DINNER WITH JESSE JACKSON, AL SHARPTON, CHUCK D, AND MINISTER LOUIS FARRAKHAN. HE NEEDS TO ATTENDS A CHURCH FISH FRY AND PASS OUT DINNERS. HE NEEDS TO ADOPT 10 AFRICAN KIDS AND PUT THEM THROUGH COLLEGE. HE NEEDS TO DONATE 100K TO THE UNITED NEGRO COLLEGE FUND. IF THAT MUTHA FUKKA DON'T DO ANY OF THE ABOVE, HE ISN'T SINCERE ABOUT MAKING AMENDS AND WE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO HANG HIM UPSIDE DOWN AND STICK FORKS UP HIS AZZ.

I don't even feel comfortable calling him a comedian, cos he does so much more than tell jokes and the stuff he says is the TRUTH. Now, I see on IMDB.com that he has something out called "Know Your History: Jesus Is Black and So Was Cleopatra". I also see that he has a DVD called "Analyzing White America" that I didn't know about! Dayum! Where have I been? Gotta git these!

Comment: we are so reactionary to the extent that it is counter-productive and self-enslaving...Michael Ricahrds is less the problem than who and what he represents...so us saying that "his azz dont bother me" misses the point...institutional and cultural racism still exists and it's here to kill us and dismissing one yt will not solve the problem we need to organize and collectively whup his azz and those who support him....man, a white Jew would have his mother and father's azz in cort...look at what they did to OJ and the judicial system found him innocent

Comment: When Mel Gibson made those anti-Semistic comments, Jews never let the issue rest. The "discussion" by movie stars, agents, theologians, etc, went on and on and on and whenever gibson tried to explain away his orignial comments (which he swore were not intentional), then THAT had to be discussed over and over. In other words, yes, what Richards said was absolutely intentional and to try to sweep it all under the rug because it is too painful is the wrong message. If you want to respect then you've got to stand up and be counted. Notice how Jews never forgot how Jesse Jackson "dissed" them and they never stopped talking about it- and never forgave him, either. "We" need defending more than anybody on Earth because no one is subjugated more than we are- but that job is up to us. Btw- Jesse Jackson, Black politicians, Black movie stars etc- get up on it and protest this blasphemy and make sure this azzh*le never works again. I work with 100% white people and they KNOW not to say anything like that around me, because they know they'll hear it from me. And- much as white people like you to believe that one Black person represents us all, notice how they don't believe it about themselves. I always say that we don't do anything as a herd and I REFUSE to accept responsibility for what some OTHER Black person is doing. A good friend of the late Malcolm X once taught me that credo, and it has strengthened and freed me enormously. Now, when I do something that White people thinks is "good"- do you think that the credit extends to other Black people other than myself? No, they always think that I'm the "exception to the rule." So, don't believe the "plantation hype" that guilty White people keep telling us to keep us confused and feeling "less than." I'm with Paul Mooney 100%.

Comment: Whatdat, Africans don’t know the real meaning behind the word %*$!(. The reason they use it because they think that is how black Americans address one another because the most mainstream rappers are black. Living in Africa has been a trip because it does seem at times you as an African-American speaks for all African-Americans. And to the second part of your question that white Americans are treated differently at a lot of times than black Americans. A white American coming into the door already has a certain amount of leverage over the black American. Take for example, in my village when I walk back and forth to home and work most people just look but don’t really speak unless I speak to them. But when some white volunteers were visiting me and we were walking around the people in the village almost bent over backwards speaking to them. My African friend in my village asked me did it upset me after I told him what happen but I told him that it didn’t because maybe the people in the village see me as one of them since we share the same skin color.

Comment: I hate that we use that word amongst ourselves as much as the next guy, HOWEVER, we need to understand that this has nothing to do with hip hop. I'm sure Kramer has never listened to a rap song in his life. His outburst was not done in jest but out of hate. He was using the word the way they used it freely and openly his beloved 50 years ago. So while I understand the argument, let's please not blame this on ourselves. I could understand that argument more if he was joking around and it was a part of his routine, and black activists got mad at him for using it at all. But what he did was racist and awful and had nothing to do with that. But please let's not waste our time and energy boycotting an old show that includes cast members who had nothing to do with this. Let's save our energy to find a way to get Trent Lott out of office and get our sons off the front lines. Kramer is not worth our time.

Comment: I was just wondering, some of us justify the use of "the word" to make it less powerful and more a part of the lexicon. If the word, through constant use, is less offensive, than why can't everybody use it? Well, we know why. We should be outraged when a white person uses the word, especially in anger. But, knowing the history, shouldn't WE be more offended by the use of it by our own people? I had an argument with my girl last night because she tried to tell me that taking the "er" off and adding an "a" makes a difference. More acceptable, I suppose. I don't think whites think that. And I bet your grandmothers and grandfathers wouldn't think that either. That's some 21st century black nonsense.

Comment: khufu > You are CORRECT about Syndication. And it DOES matter if one watches or not. Grey's Anatomy just made news because they will go into Syndication, which means a BIG pay day. So if they pull the shows even in the midst of their syndication run, they will no longer receive residuals/royalties from the show.

And why invite Richards to come back to the club to apologize in private when NBC reported that he refused ap appear with the two Black people on air today? You cannot take this issue private, that started so public

Comment: Apparently, there are a couple of people on this blog that just don't get it! This racist incident with Michael Richards is a SMOKE SCREEN to a deeper, brooding problem. The implications of what happened and how it happened is really impactful on a subconscious/spiritual level than we can begin to grasp. I have to ask... How can we expect/demand or requre others to respect us when we're disrespectful to ourselves? Yeahhh, I blame rap music. Damn right! I point a lot of the blame towards that genre of music because it stands at the forefront because of it's ability to influence. More importantely, rappers in generals show NO accountabiliy. Dare I say names? People, it should have NEVER been okay to call each other B--tchs and Wh--res! It's NOT okay to call each other the N-word either - not in our music, not in the streets, not in our daily conversation, not from the pulpit, not on the comedy stage, not in our black movies, NO WHERE! It's NOT OK! Think of it this way... If so, then what are we really saying to ourselves? Really? In addition, please consider this... Rappers have a direct, influenctial voice into the minds and thoughts of our youth. Rappers, as strange as it may sound, are helping to shape the next generation with their demeaning messages and flagrant disrespect for woman (not all rappers are like this, of course). So, am I wrong to hold them accountable? Hell no! Our black comedians aren't innocent either... We're too damn comfortable with this position! We gotta look in the mirror, Folks.

Keep in mind Richards is Jewish...if Black America wants to flex their muscle..call all your stations that air Seinfield and ask them to cancel the airing of the reruns... don't buy the Seinfeld Dvd's and boycott anything Seinfeld...we stopped Apartheid with economic power...we can do like the Jews and have people like Richards know that there are consequences for showing your bigotry for all the world to see.

Comment: I'm betting Jerry Seinfeld wished now he didn't renegotiate with the other 3. Originally, Seinfeld received most of the money from royalties. The others got very little. It was said that Seinfeld was making hundreds of millions, while the others barely made a quarter of a million all the years they were in syndication. When they wanted to put Seinfeld on DVD, the others refuse to participate in special commentaries for the DVDs because they would make no money from it. Eventually Seinfeld cave and they renegotiated. I'm not sure how much they got though. I am a big Seinfeld fan and have all the DVD's (except the newly released Season 7). I used to watch it every day. I'm not sure I can anymore. This is so sad. I'm disappointed in Michael Richards. We want to believe that some people are better than that but this just shows you never really know how people are until they open their mouths about it.
