Comment: Nas was ghost writing Pop rap hits for a long time, and the bulk of them were for a major rapper turned TV star turned actor -- so he's paid. His father is a jazz musician, so he has seen the up's & down's of the music BUSINESS first hand. I wouldn't doubt his involvement in the book -- because Nas is a businessman and if the broad is going to Pimp her kid, then Carmen, Nas & Kelis will be laughing all the way to the bank off the folks who run out to buy such foolishness. The allegations involved if untrue could bring demfamation of character lawsuits from Nas...yet he is silent. Perhaps the inside deal was that if she made the kind of money Karine Stephens did, she'd stay out his pocket.

Comment: I have to disagree with you on the Carmen issues, Teigh. Sometimes it's better not to address ridiculous allegations, than to try to fight in the media. I hate to stereotype, but the mainstream media will print more of Carmen's side than Nas'. It doesn't matter how much he denies it, as long as she accuses him, that's going to be the biggest headline. It's wise of him to say, "It's not true," and let it go, instead of getting into a sh*t-shoveling contest. Maybe he helped her, and maybe he didn't. She can't prove he did, and he can't prove he didn't -- yet, you believe (from her statements) that he did. LOL. Now multiply your thoughts and beliefs times 10 million. (nodding my head) It's better for him if he simply ignores the drama -- because he can't win that fight. Folks are more likely to believe the worst of Black men than the best :-)

Comment: Brandon, to clarify I never said I believed her statements, I said I wouldn't doubt if he was involved and that either way they would all go laughing all the way to the bank. What you may want to consider is why is NAS spending time making sure the public understands he has no beef with Jay Z when his baby's mama is trashing him, herself and his new wife....now multiple your thought and beliefs times 10 million.

Comment: Nas...why the diss on Jim Jones?...Frankly, I haven't heard much of the cat's music either but I hear he's big in the south(?)...I find it strange that you'd turn down an executive position and work for Jay. Is he still your boss? (laughs) Is Jay above you?...At least you were honest...Some folks don't wanna be the boss...As for the LL ref...He has every right to be upset with Jay...What does his age have to do with it...I'm sure if it was a white executive LL would voice his concern just the same...The label should support the artist...Now if the product is weak that's another story...I've always admired Nas's flow and lyrics but he sounds a little like Jay's beyotch...Yo, Maybe he can battle LL...or Jim Jones....

Now jim jones is gonna come for nas and they'll put that shat in print. Of course the females will be off spending the money made from the collab on the book that's sure to net millions!

Comment: My daughter bought the book and brought it over yesterday and I was just browsing through it and from the little part I read, it seemed like she was a scorned groupie whore that was a chronic liar who uses their daughter as a pawn. It also made me think that Nas has little man's syndrome and he's not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree and she had him "whipped" and they played major mind games with each other and are both very immature and its unfortunate they had a daughter to add to their madness!

Comment: LL need to quit. Literally. Nas is right, if it was a white guy and not Jay, LL wouldn't even be startin mess. Now why he would say he wanna work with 50 who is known for stomping on ppl who outshine him (Game)I truly don't know, maybe just cause they're both from Queens. His album didn't sell because it was trash. I'm still tryin to locate anyone who bought the last 2. Whining and complaining like a b***h is not gonna solve the problem. As for Jim Jones, Ballin is good, but he's right, not a lot of ppl listened to anything before that. I'd like to know where in the south he's big at. Seriously, get back to me on that. Maybe Nas didn't have to be so blunt, but at least he's honest. As for Carmen-- she need to go somewhere and sit her a** down. Why anyone would write a book on how much of a -- they are is beyond me. Why someone with a daughter would is unimaginable. Anybody notice that the chick who don't have kids haven't written a tell all? They all need to stop this madness... it's just embarrassing.

Comment: I just think she is a high priced hood rat who saw how much karrine mad by talking about all the dudes she fukked so this chick decided to do the same. Why not put him down while she has the chance he was smart enough to get away from this ho when he had the chance. I think her behavior was straight humiliating to nas and he was smart to move on. If you have not bought the book there are some interesting excerts on mediatakeout.com I will admit it might be a good read just from the little I read off that web site but I don't think it's right.

Comment: We must not forget the true tragedy of success within the black community. I am not feeling a successful black man [NAS] publicly state that he won't communicate to the mother of his child - not even for the sake of the child. What does that do to an ethnic group as a whole? Get it together CHILDISH PARENTS! Children must be raised to AT LEAST see their parents be civil with each other during communication. Or children learn to hate and not communicate!

Comment: Wordup> I agree with your comment however if it is more important to clear the air with respect to JayZ than what his child reads or hears about her parents then that speaks volumes about what his priorities are. I really don't believe that one. What I believe is that NAS sat his daughter down and explained to her how media works and how Daddy makes a buck. It's definitely not right but if the fam is "all in" then the fam is "all in". Notice this was done in Chicago not NY or Atlanta where they live. I agree it's buildup for the new project. Very few people realize just how much money NAS has made writing POP rap for others...long before Puffy went an recruited a whole gang to ghost write Press Play. Nas is about a dollar, and while it probably isn't the way we were raised -- it has it's place in a reality TV, I need my fifteen minutes of fame society and he IS a part of that generation.

Comment: I agree with him on the LL thing. If LL can't sell albums on the strength of just being LL at this stage in his career, it's nobody's fault but his own. He's not a new artist who needs an extra push from the label. He's established. The problem is that people are tired of getting the same song from him over and over.

Comment: LL has a right to be upset if the label isn't pushing his product, because it is the labels, with their many tentacles, that decide what gets airplay (radio and TV), which in turn decides whether a song is a hit or not. And that activity can make the difference as to whether or not a so so song becomes a hit or not. Case in point: Danity Kane's "Show Stopper." A weak song at best IMO. Yet and still it was a hit. Could it have been primarily becuse Diddy pulled every string he had to get it played in every outlet possible, thus making a weak song a part of the listening public's subconcious through sheer repetition? And I'm sure there was something on LL's album that was stronger than "Show Stopper."

Comment: "I'm a fan of so few it's rare I ever see the Sun." Nas is a throwback-- his responses took me back to a time when being a d*ck-rider was equivalent to today's snitch. And NO, I'm not personally on that sn*tch BS but that's the word these days. kreemykarmell>He didn't say he wanted to "work" with 50, he was basically admonishing him to do this thing along with Jay...in other words, Ball Out - DO You! WordUp> From what I know, Nas is frank and says what's on his mind and he probably was just being honest. Plus I can tell you second-hand, sometimes the only option you have just may be a liaison (sp) or something because the baby mama or baby daddy is beyond civilized communication when the courts have been exhausted. Because you gotta child doesn't that you're adult. You're right, though, it's not a GOoD situation. MOTHERSHIP, I see ya in the house!

Comment: As for LL, I grew up on his music and respect him as an artist. But if the last project was thud, go indie playa. Being indpendent is the best route anyway off-the-top: sole control, wider profit margin, ownership, marketing direction, etc. The only thing you need that most don't have is Capital. Hell LL, at this stage of the game, you shouldn't have a problem that. Bottom line, keep the squabbles in-house...ain't no leverage in all of that.

Comment: YOU GOT A BIG MOUTH! We talk too dayumned much! Who cares about the internal banterings of NAS and his baby mama? This kind of messy crap clogs the publishing industry with bullshyt and chokes out more credible literary works. We would much rather read the confessions of a video ho' than would we THE MISEDUCATION OF THE NEGRO.

Comment: Teigh> If I misinterpreted your post, I apologize. I was under the impression that your statement, "I wouldn't doubt his involvment in the book...," was meant to imply that you lean toward the possibility that of Nas being involved because since he hasn't chosed to sue. I was merely stating the obvious - the mainstream media will always downplay the denial, because it's not as sensational as an accusation. However, if I misinterpreted... again, I apologize.

Comment: To WordUp>>>Great observation on your past. There are so many references to the N word in the excerpts from the NAS interview that I had a tough time focusing on what he was trying to say. Maybe these people don't think their public behavior affects their children. And apparently, NAS doesn't think his child is smart enough to realize something is wrong with dad not talking to mom. No matter what NAS may be trying to avoid with the silent treatment, in the end the child will suffer the most!!!! LIVe the lyrics instead of merely rapping them!

Comment: HARRIET> it is b-cuz our people r miseducated N.E.G.R.O.'s (negative growth) that they prefer 2 pollute their minds w/ trash as opposed 2 reading something that will build them up and enlighten them. as 4 NAS's excessive use of the word ni**a i was disappointed, however not surprised considering the arena he runs n...it's just really hard 2 b Righteous when u walking n the valley of Unrighteousness. i ain't mad at the brotha....he doing the best he know how. and considering the trash put out by the other MC's on his level of exposure....at least he is conscientious. these other clowns don't have a clue...snoop, game, 50, jay, t.i....they think it's all bling bling. as 4 the sista Carmen...that sh*t is foul...true or not she should have kept the sh**t between him, her and their God.

Comment: The book is boring and it sucks!!! She is just a hood rat trying to get paid. She's just mad that Kelis stepped in the picture and stopped her child support, payment on her car and her rent. According to the book he was taking care of her when he was with Kelis. Kelis put a stop to all of that sh.........can't say I blame her but however the child should'nt' have to suffer for having ignorant parents. Just my thoughts......
