Comment: its good to finally see some of us brothas stepping up to the plate in support of our sistas instead of they typical hollywhite, oops hollywood divide and conquer with the black/white romance. hmmmmmm wonder if any "sistas" will say the same thing? chances are SLIM to NONE, and slim is out of town!...just wonder when or if you will see Halle opposite another black man in a movie not considered a "black" movie.

Comment: I too love Denzel but he has done a love scene with a white woman. The movie is He Got Game. He played the father of a gifted basketball player who was in jail that had to convince his son to attend a certain school in order for his prison time to be reduced. Even though he hit it from the back, he was still with a white woman. I still wanna be his baby's momma!! LOL!!

Comment: Denzel sounded like a nutjob! I "supposedly" cheat on my wife but won't do a love scene w/the yt girl. If black women are that sensitive then they are the ones w/a problem...not a love scene. Oh well, to each his own. I'm assuming that this is how he felt..back then.

Comment: It is commendable that Mr. Washington would take such a stance. It really shows that he, along with Angela B%*$ett, are among the very FEW Blacks in entertainment who have some measure of racial consciousness. This with respect to the actual impact of such images in movies, commercials, and tv. I must also mention that while commmendable, it really is not too necessary. Hollywood and Madison Avenue has and will continue to be hyper sensitive to the white male physche concerning Black male sexuality with not only white women but even Black women to boot. Just think, how often do you see a Black male engaged in physical contact with any women in film or tv? It is quite rare. I've seen whole movies where Denzel is the "hero" yet never touches one women. Compare this to white males in film will always have a conquest, even the lowliest of subjects.

Comment: Personally, I would have not felt offended if Denzel did a love scence with a white woman. He's an actor if that's what his job called for then so be it. But, I do appreciate his consideration and respect towards black women. This man is one class act and has principles to be admired.

Comment: I like D but this sounds like some self-serving BS and pandering. He did 2 movies with Eva Mendes has his love interest (Out of Time and Training Day) and was with a white woman in He Got Game...so what is he talking about. No big name black actor OR actress has appeared 100% of the time with black love interests. And we all know for sistas to get good roles the new thing is to be paired with white guys.

Comment: >Media Agent - that men are men thing is crap. Everyone in the WORLD knows Denzel is married. IF he is creeping, who the heck is he creeping with = women, right? What that means is that IF he is cheating, there are triflin' women HELPING him cheat. A man cannot cheat by himself. As long as women participate this will continue to happen. We always try to blame the men but the blame is on both parties. The funny thing is that women are so stupid to think a man will leave his wife for them OR to believe that they are better off as "the other woman" and so they sell themselves so short and it's sad. But we have to take responsibility for our part in the cheating...on the other hand (for those of you who think I am letting men off the hook) HE knows he's married, too so IF he is cheating, he is a pig and if I ever see concrete evidence of it, he will be off my list as my favorite actor...that's all I'm saying...

Comment: I wouldn't applaud what Denzel supposedly said "off the record" to quickly. I don't believe what this Allison Samuel person is reporting, Denzel said in a tv interview that he never said that he wouldn't kiss or do a love scene with a white woman on screen. When he played Malcolm X didn't he kiss his white girlfriend or was that one of those screen kisses whatever that means. Didn't he do a love seen with the indian girl in MS Masala, and wasn't it a white woman that gave him the clap in Ricochet? In other words Denzel's love interest on screen hasn't always been a black woman.

Comment: Queeniebunz> My statement is based on my observations of men. Whether they were family members, friends or foe and even former employers, it's all the same. If they can do it they will, be it woman, man, animals or doorholes. Please, I don't have time to argue over whether or not a person allows someone to cheats, that's up to the individual. What I said was, men are men. And until I see something different with them when it comes to making their jimmy happy, I'm sticking by my observation. And although I like Denzel, he's a man, he's not my man and Pauletta is the one dealing with sleeping with him and/ spending his money. So to go back and forth is pointless.

Comment: When did this become a thing about D's cheating? First of all how in the bloody he11 does anyone know if he has in fact cheated or continues to cheat on his wife? I don't remember that Spike Lee movie but I wouldn't put it past Spike to throw that in the film--just like he did with the athlete in the movie. So if he did have a scene with a white woman in that movie, then his point is hypocritical unless he explains in the book that he no longer feels that way when shooting films. But if he wasn't with a YT girl in that movie, his point still stands that its about IMAGE and what gets pumped out via the media day in and out that send messages to blacks, and others day in and out-whether people want to believe it or not. If you live in a society that never portrays you, or only portrays you in a certain negative light-this impacts not only what you feel about yourself, but how others perceive you as well. Come on, you are all adults, you know that. So, IF Denzel still stands by this, then I commend him highly---

Comment: Additionally I think if he did say this, he was referring to the Date/Love movies in particular-where two people fall in love, as opposed to playing a character role--i.e. Malcolm X, which was based on factual accounts, not some random, made up story line. Indian/Latina/Asians are still coloured women. granted, that will be the next thing we continue to see on the Big screen, but it doesn't have the same history thus far, as Black man choosing white woman love...

Comment: Hmmm...looks like queeniebunz is on the lookout, Dennie, so be careful or you're going on her sh*t list. :) But if Brother Denzel IS creeping (and of course there are scores of women in every town who would help him, if he so desired), why not simply divorce like Eddie recently did? The answer may be that Denzel is, as some of his comments intimated, image concious. Speaking of Eddie, is he acting kinda gay these days?

Comment: Don't, Don't, Don't, Don't believe the hype! A) Some of ya'll acting like Denzel is your cousin Ezell from the famlay reunion last summer and his mamma (your Aunt Bessie Mae) spilled all the beans on what he's been doing. B) Taking this Samuels' book quote as scripture. If he didn't say it, I'm sure he will refute (sp) it somewhere. Who cares who he's sleeping with, it ain't me, *sigh*. If he did say that, I respect him for it. I also respect the fact that if he is cheating, he's not flaunting it in public. To each his/her own. If wife is happy, why do we care? It's all about images with these entertainment folks so whatever is done or said by blacks supporting blacks I'm all for it.

Comment: For me this article was about a black male actor taking a stand against swapping spit with an ofay, even if only once! What the fukk do rumors and innuendo about affairs and womanizing have to do with it? You ever bother to think about the fact that he only asked that we pay to see his movies cause I surely don't remember hearing him invite ANYONE into his personal life or his drawers! Damn y'all, sometimes you just gotta know where to draw the line!!

But now he seems to be carrying that certain style of gay laughter, hand gesturing, and overall demeanor with him everywhere he goes. Maybe his ex will let us in on what's up in an upcoming tell-all book.

Comment: we so often miss the forest 4 the trees. another case of paralysis of analysis. yes, n he got game denzel had a sex scene w/ a yt woman, but it wasn't a "love" scene. and malcolm x was a biographical movie. the point that the brotha, i believe, is making is hellywood does not portray black women as objects of desire and out of his personal respect 4 sistas he by and large does not accept roles where he does a "love" scene with a yt woman. 2 me this is quite obvious n watching all of the films he has done where it was evident the producers tried 2 inject a "love" scene between him and the yt female co-actor, i.e. man on fire, pelican brief, the bone collector. and as 4 what he has or has not done n his personal life, that's between him, paulette and their God. and even if he has slipped, i disagree that makes him a hypocrite. i've done things i don't approve of, but i still strive 2 b a better person.

Comment: Julia Roberts stated (on that BRAVO show that does 1 on 1 interviews) that a relationship was "implied" in Pelican Brief. During the last scene, she's watching him (Denzel's character) on tv from HIS cabin, where she's hiding out from the press. She said it was subtle, but it was intended to portray an ongoing friendship (relationship) between them. I personally never caught that until she mentioned it. It seemed that people thought their relationship should have developed more in the movie...so they threw the audience a bone (so to speak.)
