Oldschoolbrother, I totally hear ya because that is a debate and a half right now. People are MAD! Yet, people fail to realize that if all those punk rock groups can be inducted, then why can't rap acts too? What I am hearing is how a person can be nominated for "simply" playing records. People are saying the Hall of Fame has nominated a "record player." Yet, none address the absolute masterpiece of modern music titled "The Message" from Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, nor will they address the influence on today's music that Flash and others started in that little old place called The Bronx. The news media is playing it up by saying the word is "variety" but then they only make a big deal of Van Halen being nominated.

Comment: COngrats..LOOOOONG Overdue.... It's nice when true creativity is recognized/honored. "THE Message" video, though grainy, was the start of a new era! I loved it! I remember clearly after graduating from college in '88 when every "new" song had a hook or sample from another song. What the heck?!?!? Gone are the days of original works.

Out of so much fun came the new movement that changed the world...and it came from us kids with nothing (in terms of money) but ideas and a passion for music and "rocking the house." I was just a young girl (underage, but nobody was really checking or cared that I remember)up in that piece, it was butt to butt and cheek to cheek - had to be a firetrap but it was all good and too much fun. Ah youth!

Hollywood who actually created hip hop what his is and doing his turntabling. Hollywood should be in every hall of fame there is. Period. DiamondChocolate, "of all the animals in the world I'd rather be a mosquito, climb up on the highest mountain and exercise my tweeter, untang untang, I want to go slept all night with my honey bun!" Until this very day, nair none of them can touch D.J. Hollywood. I'm working with Hollywood now for him to get his just due.
