Comment: HAPPY MLK DAY!!!!

Comment: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING!! This will be a great day here in Indianapolis as we remember the great contributions that you made to liberate America from the shackles of racism and oppression. I only wish that ALL Americans took the day off to honor your great sacrifice. Unfortunately, today the so-called world famous Harlem Globetrotters will be performing downtown at Conseco Fieldhouse. I guess they felt that it was more important to act a fool, buck out their eyes and shuffle their feet with a basketball in front of laughing white folks than to take time to honor you, Dr. King. Thatz just what Black Folks need.......another minstrel show to entertain bored white folks, I thought Damon Wayans was doing a good job. Gee, thanks Manny Jackson, owner of the Harlem Globetrotters. I guess, Dr. King wasn't important enuff for you! If it weren't for Dr. King, the Harlem Globetrotters wouldn't have the opportunity to play at Conseco! Go on Globetrotters.....yuck, yuck, giggle, giggle, shuffle, shuffle......yuck, yuck....

Comment: I salute Dr. Martin L. King the freedom fighter, the dreamer, and drum major for justice he once called himself. I‘m thankful to God for sending Dr. King our way, I was a baby when he violently lost his life and thankfully my parents saved newspaper, magazine articles and pictures of him so that their four children could learn of this remarkable man. There were so many pictures of MLK around our house when I was growing up, I thought he was an actual family member. Unfortunately today many have disregarded, disrespected, or just plainly ignored what MLK and so many did for us to have the lil freedom we have today. Happy birthday Dr. King!

Comment: Happy Birthday to Dr. King, the single most important, impactful, and history-changing American of the 20th Century. Thanks to Dr. King, we didn't have to hit the streets anymore violently than we had to (see Iraq and the Shia/Sunni conflict) to make this a fairer society. We still have a long way to go (racism in the legal/prison system; hiring/promotional discrimination; governmental budget allocations; racism in allocation of disaster relief, etc.), i.e., we aren't where we oughta be, but thank God we ain't where we used to be (when Dr. King had his first march).

Comment: >TxStar: As kids growing up in the basketball hot bed on Indiana, we used to idolize Marques Haynes, Goose Tatum & Pop Gates because that's the only professional basketball team that looked like us. Over the years, their image has developed into a "senior citizen version" of Def Comedy Jam.

Comment: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR.KING!!! We can never thank God and you enough for your life, inspiration, achievements and legacy! You indeed are the epitomy of what a great man is. I honor and respect you always and have tried to dedicate my life to standing up for what is right, just and fair; working with young people and others who are less forunate in our society. I am ASHAMED of how we have mislabled and dishonored your legacy; killing each other, disrespecting our elders, not raising our kids, neglecting our comunities, not holding Amerikkka accountable for it's nefarious deeds. But, on the other hand, many of us have embraced the legacy you've left and continue the struggle for human, equal right and justice! I pray that your spiritual energy will invade this Earth before we destroy it, and bring us back to our senses! My birthday gift to you? To continue to stand for Truth, Justice and Righteousness in any way I can. You and Coretta hold on to each other and hold on to us! Much Love~

Comment: Platinum, I was raised the same way in Brooklyn, N.Y. My father marched with Dr.M.L.K. and with Malcom X. This was one of the plaques that was hung up in our, my parents home all my life, "GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO EXCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE, THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN, AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE"! I still have some black comic books my mother bought for us to read about our black heros! I hope we start living and doing what we know is right as far as helping our black people to stand on thier own 2 feet and respect ourselves, and own our own businesses like my parents and family members did, instead of every year we just recognize Dr.Kings birthday for one day and go back to regular suffering every day life. REMEMBER THAT KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!!!!!!
