Comment: OMG he was only 11 and an 18 year old is still gone from this world. Did the family accept is apology? Redemption!

Comment: The only way for them to heal completely was to accept it. Otherwise it would forever and always be a gaping wound. Besides the little guy has paid the price for this murder and he still has to live with the fact that he killed someone. Prayerfully he learned something and will go on to be a productive contributing member of society.

Comment: Thank God for Oprah, I live in Michigan the state where this happened, so I've followed this story since it happened. From what was reported in the newspaper, I believe the family did indeed forgive him. I just hope and pray this young man doesn't go the route Lionel Tate went. He has a lot against him, one being extremely hostile media scrutiny.

Comment: Now, this is just too damn much. What was the point of the apology?

Comment: What exactly is "too damn much" IMHO it's good that Oprah had this done privately as opposed to using this story for a February ratings sweep story. I for one am glad that he apologized to the family for his actions, perhaps his story will play out better than the Lionel Tate case, where Lionel never, ever apologized for his actions, which could be why he's back in prison. You have to account for your actions, if you don't want to repeat them in life.

Comment: I agree 4462DG. This made it more authentic that it wasn't publicized and like everyone else I'm praying for this young man and the family of the victim.
