Comment: This whole thing started over two women at the coat check. One of the women was underage -- and that will more than likely mean the end of "BED" (she was with the brother who died). In any case a fight broke out because the Granville Adams (the actor) said something to the underaged girl) and the coat check woman went ballistic. Incredible that an alleged shouting match or stare down over a man lead to a death. Senseless and stupid.

Comment: When you push someone against elevator doors they don't generally open. I pray this brother doesn't have to suffer cause some club didn't pay their maintenance bill!

Comment: Teigh what did Granville say to the underage girl 'you old enough to be in here?' this all sounds ridiculously stupid. What did the coatcheck girl have to do with any of it - she got her $2 to get their coats and should have kept her mouth shut. Bottom line - younguns don't belong in grown folks clubs.

Comment: i2i with McNasty, should not the little girl been at home playing twister or something. The news reported that the elevators had just been serviced so maybe it was more of an shoddy job issue than anything else. I know for a fact the if you jump on my back Ima get you off anyway I can. It is likely he defended himself, not with intent to kill this brother, but to get free of the tussle. Just a tragic turn of events.

Comment: The dude that died had a birthday party. Granville with going with the broad in the coatcheck room. Granville made a fresh gesture toward the girl/woman who is the guy who got killed niece. She was retrieving her coat from the coatcheck room when Granville made the remark, Ol' girl in the coatcheck room saw it and started hollerin' "that's my man;" and jumped on the girl who was trying to retrieve her coat to leave. That's when the dude who got killed saw his niece on the floor and asked him WTF is the problem and it escalated from there.

Comment: I want to know why brothers always have to get into a beef at a club. In my city, they are shooting one another in the parking lot over stupid stuff.

Comment: Khufu, basically the actor, Granville mad a fresh comment to the guy's niece when she went to get her coat to leave. The woman who was in the coatcheck room passing the coats to the customers saw Granville's gesture and instead of checkin' him, she jumped on the girl who was the niece of the guy who fell down the shaft.

Comment: This is just so sad! A man died a horrible death over something so stupid. Born and Died on 2- _ -07

Comment: I always liked old boy on Oz. I thought he was very attractive and a good actor. Often wondered what happened to him since a lot of the other Oz actors were popping up on a lot network TV shows like Lost, Law & Order SVU. This is a helluva way to resurface. Based on what's in the article, it does appear that the elevator is at fault because it doesn't seem as if Mr. Adams went at the victim with malicious intent. So why such a heavy charge from the DA's office instead of something like involuntary manslaughter. I guess more will unfold as the investigation continues.

Comment: Granville was the manager in charge that night. Someone got killed and there was an underaged young lady in the club -- all on his watch. Either way it doesn't look good for Granville. You life can really change in a day.

Comment: The elevator passed inspection June 2006? Here we are in February 2007....if that don't sound like a "Wuddn't Me...." with cookies crumbs all over ya mouth, I don't know what is. I don't venture to the club too often anymore, b/c things like this are bound to happen. No matter who started it, shat happens and if the elevator may have been serviced sometime in this millennium then the brother would've just moved on to a different floor after getting the wind knocked out of him and Adams would be fighting a civil suit instead of homicide. How quickly life can change.

Name: McNasty
Comment: I don't believe he can be charged with murder, possibly some kind of misdemeanor. The birthday boy bought jailbait in the club and just cause Granville was acting as the manager doesn't mean he stood centry at the door so he can't be blamed for that either. No matter I hope all turns out right for the brother.

Comment: It simply sounds like a faulty elevator.....the doors are not supposed to open unless the elevator is on that particular floor. Normally you have to pry them open if the elevator car is not on that floor and these doors opened from a push. I hope that everything works out for him.

Name: Teigh
Comment: He's charged with criminally negligent homicide; and while there will be a line of folks wanting to sue the city and the club(the deceased man's wife, the deceased man's parents, his neice and her family; trust me Granville will me named in the suit -- his actions allegedly lead to the man's death. It will be really interesting to see how cool Granville was with the owners of BED, or was he just another "face" to get folks in the door, and exactly where is coatcheck girl now?

Name: McNasty
Comment: Teigh while I'm sure you're correct those charges don't even sound right - dude jumped on his back about pointing out jailbait and he pushed him off and the elevator that had recently been serviced opened up and swallowed him. Even Brandy has lesser charges than that!
