Nothing wrong with that message. Next year they will ban the trombone....haha

Give me a break, apparently these people have nothing elese to do in life but find fault at the wrong thing. If you want to talk about anything, take off that show called the SIMPSONS.

These are the same critics that made such a huge deal about Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's Superbowl performance, an issue that I believe, yes even me, with the ultra conservative ideas I employ was blown WAY OUT of proportion...case and point, anyone one watching the JJ and JT performance that evening -- how many of you knew that she was "exposed" herself until the "critics" displayed all the still photos over the media

I swear that I had not heard that anywhere before. It was just so obvious what was going on when he was performing. Really, I though it was just me being preoccupied with sex since I haven't been gettin any. But I see many people caught on. And yes Prince has always beex X-rated so you know he had to do something to keep up his reputation. Like I said before, it was a Brilliant move. CBS and the FCC would be, once again, extremely HYPOCRITICAL to question this so-called inappropriate symbolism when one of the Super Bowl commercials showed two men kissing FOR REAL! I'm not interested in that...and for those who say to turn to another channel, the same goes for those who were "offended" by Prince's phallic guitar and performance.

Comment: Prince's guitar is shaped like the symbol he used when he changed his name. He's had it for years and didn't do anything different with it than what he normally does. These critics kill me with their hypocracy. Acting like Prince hasn't changed from who he was 10 years ago. The man is now a Jehovah's Witness and no longer cusses in his music. Those assless pants happened over 10 years ago and I'll bet he wasn't even thinking about lewd images when he planned this performance. These critics need to do better research.

Comment: Dovel..actually they pulled the Snickers Ad w/the two men "kissing" The human rights campaign and gay organizations criticized the commercial bcz they felt it reinforced negative perceptions of homos and teaches intolerance. On the flip, if people can be "horrified" about Janet..then they should be able to be "horrified" by Prince. Again, we 'lowed it to happen..so now we deal w/the consequences. Sooner or later...we'll be left w/Billy Graham and The Gospel Funkmasters. Here's the now offensive Snickers ad, I personally thought it funny: http://youtube.com/watch?v=JHkoZ7ngAM0

Comment: Musbdherbs>>>So the Snickers ad didn't air on network TV? Or are you saying that the commercial was stopped while it was on the air? This still all feels warped. So there's no criticism coming from religious/moral conservative groups about the Snickers ad? I watched it online and I thought it was both homo-erotic and homophobic at the same time. I mean, what person (regardless of gender) who wants a piece of candy just puts their mouth on the other end of it without some kind of "permission"? (Hmmm...LOL!)

That coupled w/the response from the "disgusted" football players forced them to pull the ads. They feel that it promotes violence against homos as well. Hope that explains it...I've gotten bits and pieces but will go online to see what the hoopla is about.

If they have any questions about why the ad isn’t funny, we can help put them in touch with any number of GLBT Americans who have suffered hate crimes.” continues "Is Snickers suggesting that people who eat their candy bars are cavemen? It’s an odd market to court, particularly after the Isaiah Washington flap a couple weeks ago, which clearly showed that there’s a strong distaste out there for people who portray themselves as anti-gay or holding on to old prejudices and stereotypes.”
“Mars and Snickers need to pull the ‘Wrench’ ad and the footage of the NFL players out of their campaign immediately.”

Comment: LOL if a guitarist uses a long guitar strap, the guitar hangs low. DUH! If Prince intentionally did it to imply a phallic shadow (along with the Beyonce jab), it was suttle but ingenious. Now Prince has always been one to exploit sex i.e the guitar that squirted water from the top, so I wouldn't be suprised if ppl were sitting on the edge of their chairs WAITING for Prince to do something. Perhaps he does a little more stroking than other guitar players (for dramatic, and yes, sexual effect) but that's just his style. And I would assume the CBS execs (or their advisers) were aware of that. So keep doing your thing, Brother Nelson. Comment: And yes, khufu, you are correct in that the racial aspect is in there too (isn't it always?). Yt folk have had a problem with Black males ever since their women couldn't take their eyes off our glistening muscles when we were getting off the ship in 1619. And the racist issue in general has been demonstrated in their treatment/ostratization of Janet Jackson, whose career the corporate music machines have looked to derail altogether (Justin seems to be doing just fine, which is no coincidence). And now some music critic's wife swooned over Prince, and the yt males insecurities rise again.

Comment: Speaking of ridiculous, I read an USA article today about how Ken Elrich (Executive Producer) of Grammys will pair off artists to get a great moment on the telecast. One reference was to how he hooked up Prince and Beyonce in 2004. Re Ken Ehrlich: His glittery résumé doesn't open every door. When he proposed in 2004 that Prince and Beyoncé collaborate on a medley of the Purple One's hits, the young diva "flat-out didn't want to do it," Ehrlich says. "She said, 'Ken, why can't I just do Dangerously in Love?' I sat with her for an hour and a half explaining why she had to do it.
"She gave in, and she ended up loving it. It was one of the most amazing openings ever."
You know Beyonce DEFINITELY did not know what was good for her. How in the hell are you going to OPEN the grammy's and want them to let you do "Dangerously in Love" over Prince's hits? IDIOT!

So while there may be some unsettled issues w/yt's and black sexuality, BLACK people seem to be horrified by what Janet did..or at least they jumped on the anti-janet bandwagon in full force. Hence, her lack of support since then.

Comment: Time 4 my 2 cents... First, Janet's thing was NO WARDROBE MALFUNCTION. Look at the close-up pictures of her outfit and the piece of fabic in Justin's hand and you'll see SNAPS. You'll also see the lace was sewn into the piece in Justin's hand. End of story. NOW- on to this year's show. I'm not seeing what they are trying to complain abot. That is absurd. What they should complain abt is the fact that Prince's guitar was too loud in the playback- it drowned out the band. Also, for the first time in my life I've heard a Prince guitar out of tune. Maybe it was the rain... As for this phallic shadow thing, put it to rest right now, because that's nothing. If the NFL wants to avoid future controversy, they should hire a symphony orchestra to do the halftime show. Stay away from pop artists, and maybe even bands that hail from HBCU's.

This is a non-story. If CBS/Super Bowl were concerned, it never would've happened. If they missed it and didn't notice it in the first place, then it really wasn't all that obvious and again is not an issue.

Comment: Prince KILLED it and the haters can't take it, so they are looking for anythign to nitpick. -- I have to clarify a few things though. Prince has always made that move while playing guitar - any guitar. That guitar is NOT a phallic symbol. He has played it for more than a decade now. It is named Habibi and it is the combination male/female/life symbol that he changed his name to in the mid '90s. He is a JW now. He does not cuss or do X-rated songs anymore. Because of his immense, unparalled talent and showmanship those songs aren't even missed when you see him live. Finally, Prince has nothing but kind words/feelings toward Beyonce. Since the Grammys she's been his girl. She did his Brit Hall of Fame induction in November. He also went out of his way to go to her table and talk to her at the Golden Globes. One of her videos plays in a montage at his club 3121 in Vegas. The Twinz have been with Prince for more than a year now. Their presence is NOT a swipe at Beyonce in any way. Let's celebrate black love - not create rumors of black dissonance. -- Also my favorite Neely Fuller quote is, "If you don't understand White Supremacy (Racism)--what it is and how it works, everthing else that you understand will only confuse you."
