I'll go as far as speaking with the parents and ensuring adult supervision but there's no way I'm going to attend every party she attends even when she was twelve. I can understand Justin having a security team because he is P. Diddy's son and I'm sure there's a nice price on his head. The mother did right by firing them. If this young lady could get this close and perform acts on him then they weren't doing their job. IMO the question should be where was the parent's hosting this party? They are the ones all of these parents left the safety of their children to.

The kids today are too "grown" and I do blame part of it on young children in their teens (and younger in rare instances) having babies and being rewarded for it (having celebratory baby showers instead of getting their behinds whipped), raising them at the same time they are growing up themselves, etc. The media and the music industry. The lack of morals in the households as well as parents not teaching their children but wanting to be their "friends." And the sloppy way some parents live their lives in front of their kids. This picture speaks volumes to the influence Diddy and his music, visuals (videos) and bling, bling lifestyle has had on a certain generation so, HE really can't say much to his sons, daughters or anyone else until he makes a change himself.

Comment: Musb is right...teenage pregnacy rates for black teens have dropped 40% for the period 1990-2002 and are continuing to decline so while it's still a problem, it's NOT what it used to be; however, Cdub is also correct in stating how influential the 'information' age is on these teens. It's a different day and time from when I was growing up in the 70s. The Internet allows these kids to access 'adult'/questionable content 24/7 unless their parents block it, which many don't. And TV certainly doesn't help with all these crazy AZZ videos and reality shows where folks just drop trough. When I was growing up my parents dropped me off at a party, after chatting with the parents. Also, somebody's momma or daddy was always present to ensure we didn't go buckwild, so I agree with Southernbelle -- where were the parents who were hosting this party. That was my first thought when I read the article. They are the ones who are responsible for keeping order.

Comment: I agree with MzTee, SouthernBelle and musb. Sadly this story is not out of line with what is going on across this country with teenagers, sex and parties. It is headline news because it is Diddy's son. Girls (pre-teens) are having oral sex at school dances and riding home on the bus. The school dances have gotten so out of hand that the schools are not allowing the children to touch each other at all and they refuse to play slow songs for that good ole slow dance. I believe that Misa acted appropriately in firing the people that she left in charge of taking care of her son. The chaperone's of the party should have been the parents of the child who was having the party and the responsibility lies with them. As a mother of 3 teens I know good and darn well that I am not attending any teen dances with them but I always go into the house and meet the parents, check out the party space and leave my number just in case. Once I leave my trust is with the adults in the household.

Comment: musbdherbs: I am aware that the teenage pregnancy rates may be decling but, if they hadn't been so high for decades and generations, you wouldn't have to make that comment (about them declining). Because although that is a great thing, it has truly helped to mess up a great deal of our people. And I go back to my first statement above where I think situations like what happened at that party and many other parties around this country - go back to lack of morals and parental control which a lot of the time come from children raising children and parents wanting to be friend with their kids.

I see he got hot and took the sweater......lol Well, all jokes aside. Where were the parents who child had the party. I couple of months ago, I saw on the news r 20/20 r somewhere were a "white family" had a party for there son (I believe he was turning 16)and had a stripper at the party and the parents were charged. Do not remember exactly the name of the charge, but they were charged for having strippers at an underage party and they were white. It will be interesting to see what happens with this. My bestfriend daughter is a Junior in high school now, but when she was in middle school she was talking then how the girls were have oral sex at school. About 3-4 years ago, there was a "black" lady on Oprah talking about she works with girls 11-16 years old and they were talking about tossing the salad and the rainbow then. The rainbow I thought was extremely nasty. This is were several girls put on different shades of lipstick and all perform oral sex and the "johnson" looks like a rainbow. I hurried up and call my girlfriend and she told me then of the things her daughter would come home and tell her. So this did not start, it has been goin on for awhile. I am 44 and I remember at 14 the neighborhood kids along with myself and play spin the bottle. The kids are exposed so much now through videos etc. and I wonder these entertainers who have kids if they truly realize what they are doing exposing the kids to a?? hanging out of shorts, thongs etc. They think it's cool because that's how they are portraying. Kids can get HIV/AIDS too. It's not cool

Comment: In this instance it does matter how the birth rate decreased; under your %*$ertions you will have us to perceive that it's because teens are not indulging in sex when in fact, they are indulging at an alarming rate so much that it will be mandatory for pre-teens girl to take the HPV shot (I want to see the numbers for sexually transmitted diseases I bet those numbers have sky-rocketed).
Sex in today's society is a HUGE problem for black men because they are the most desired men (sexually) than any other man on the planet. To ignore that is to ignore the climate change. If our men are too busy having sex (with anything and anyone), who will show our boys how to become men? Are we informing our men of the consequences of sleeping around?

Comment: I agree Sexee. Teens ARE still having sex and the pregnancy rates are NOT going down from teen abstinance. And yes, teens can and DO get HIV/AIDS as someone mentioned before. Therefore, if you teach your children some of the consequences of sex, that it is not "ALL GOOD" - maybe, then maybe, the tides will change for the better... and not just change.

Though teenage pregnancies have declined, the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, some with no cure, have not. We have too many young men/women infected with diseases, including HIV/STD.

Comment: Gingerg, STDs have been around for centuries. Literally. So have horny 12 year olds and money hungry women. These are all constants in life that will not cease to exist in our lifetime, and maybe not ever. Knowing that, and like Herbs, knowing the type of activities I engaged in when I was his age (7th grade, 1st year of jr. high school), what Justin was doing is nothing but age appropriate behavior. That doesn't make it right or wrong, it just means that he is a normal 12 year old boy. This doesn't mean he's having sex, it doesn't mean he engaging in "risky" behavior, it just means he's horny and likes girls, which is exactly what he should be at that age.
I for one have no problem with what he was doing. I can understand firing the security detail for slacking on the job, and I can also understand giving Justin a stern talking to, but his horniness and lust for females will only get stringer as he matures. Speaking from experience, if a parent tries to curb that lust, it will be afutile effort. The kid needs to learn for himself and these types of actions are nothing but a part of the learning process most little boys go through. On the real I'm sure Justin has done much "worse" (and I use the word loosely) than getting a lapdance from some money hungry older woman.

Comment: Hate to say it but many, many parents taught their children the consequences of sex but that still didn't stop the girls and boys who were interested in having sex, a lot of kids think that their parents are wrong, don't know what they are talking about blah, blah blah until they are hit with consequences. As Musbe stated this truly is not new, I was a teenager from 1975-1980 duting the now good old days. I came from a two parent household, we went to Church each Sunday, our parents were hard working, they thought they watched us very well, and taught us very well and many of my friends were still sexually active or playing games that put them on the verge of sexual activity. The problem is simply Justin is doing out in the open what kids used to do on the 'sneak'---that would mean that he doesn't have to respect to sneak his dirt, not that he will not do dirt. The parents there should have put a stop to that crap, instead of taking pictures, so in the future he should sneak his dirt, makes you smarter, better at lying and covering up...

From my limited research, the decline can be attributed to two main things: abstinence...AND easy access to birth control e.g. the patch, condoms, the shot and so on and so forth. Those aren't "my" azzumptions..it's the information I found online. So, if we are to debate..debate what you know for sure. I don't know but I at least attempted to find out. Also, the high std rate is not just attributed to "lack of morals and direction" it is also IN LARGE part due to a lack of education. Just this weekend, I was at a sex education workshop w/teenage boyz, of the 20 in attendance only TWO knew that you can contract an STD from oral sex. That's TWO! We can say that they are out of tontrol and lack morals..but that's only a small part of the problem. There are MANY parents who "correctly" educate children who still act out. I'm sure that Misa and Diddy have done so w/Justin.

You clearly stated "BTW, does it matter the "reason" the birth rate has dropped?" I made no assumptions when addressing the the Rhyme and reason as to why the birth rate droppped.
From what I gather I was not arguing, I have only stated facts. I am active volunteer in the CPS (Chicago Public School) system and have done so for years. I receive first hand data not only on test scores but other stats including teens sexual behavior. I've witness first hand the unprotected sex engaged by teenage students (3 girls on 1 boy) as well as gay teens fighting over a grown man IN SCHOOL! I witness first hand the lack of parental involvement in their child's education . So I can look in my notes from school meetings and give you data or I can pull out of my FIELD experience as to what our teens are saying and doing. That is what I know for sure.
Back to the topic at hand, yes it can be attributed to both Abstinence and easy access to birth control for the decline in teen pregnancy, however that is not our only issue. Knowledge is out here in abound. The way the knowledge(education) is distributed is another story. We have the tools to share with teens and parents however low participation in these programs as well as class room interruptions prevents many from "being educated". I am actively involved in my son's life but I know that it is his choice to do what it right. Misa and Puffy's son is on a totally different level than where I am at. He has money and vultures are waiting for their downfall by hook or crook. As a black male with money, it is imperative that he is aware of his surroundings.

Comment: Thunny - That is why my mother NEVER allowed me to go to any house party or basically ANY function that she (or one of her approved parents) didn't chaperone. She was the head of the PTSA, a member of the booster clubs and any other parent organization that related to any activity I was involved with. Boys were not allowed to call or show up at my house. Nobody was allowed on our property when she was not home (forget coming in the house, if she saw me talking to somebody in the driveway, I (and whoever was with me) got cussed out. My mother knew every teacher and neighbor personally and they all had instructions to whoop my azz if I misbehaved. With all of that policing, I still found ways to "hook up". LOL

When someone would show up at my house unannounced when she wasn't home, I would freak out because the neighbors would report back. I really believe she gave out cash awards for folks to snitch on me. LOL Unfortunately, my mom's ways drove me to the breaking point at the end of my senior year (after I turned 18 and had the full scholarship to undergrad, of course) and I ran away (well, not exactly. I ended up at my best friend's house around the corner. LOL). I finally ended up living with my father the last couple of months before graduation and my mother and I didn't speak for several years. I just couldn't take all of the accusations anymore. Here I was a straight A student and very responsible for a teenager, but anytime I was not in my mother's sight, she was convinced I was up to no good. Later in life, my dad told me that my mom's paranoia came from her own misdeeds when she was in high school. He said she used to sneak out of the house on the regular to come see him and she ran with the wrong crowd. My grandmother never had a clue because she could lie with a straight face. She azzumed I inherited her talents. LOL

And yes as the Intelligent Human being that I am I don’t have to go back and read your post because like history I can pretty much guess the comment.. Therefore, I felt their would be “no value added” in reading the comment.
Like most commenters, I stated my opinion on the subject matter, no criticizing, no finger pointing just me exercising my right to voice my opinion (as an Intelligent Human being of course). Since, I have over a decade of FIELD experience along with compiled DATA from various different social agencies; not to mention, my profession deals with all sorts of marketing data. Therefore, I can form an intelligent (there goes that word again) opinion on our youth. So it doesn’t take me to read a comment(unless my goal was to discredit/argue your comment in it’s entirety), to post my own opinion . So as the Intelligent Human being, my choice was to stick to the relevant part for me and that was “why teens pregnancy are declining”.
