Comment: Regular black folks do not drink Cristal like that. How will there be power in a Boycott. That was the company's intent, they do not want to be associated with common folks and that's what hip hop had done. Cristal over the years has positioned it's self to be the champagne of the elite, so I'm sure they are so glad that J has moved in another direction with their product. I bet they're clinking their glasses together as we speak. Mission accomplished.

Comment: Cristal is cristal and made for anyone that can afford it. They didn't stop this boy from using it in all his videos but they weren't going to co sign any of his shat - they don't have to. Him going to another pis.s flavored brand means not a damned thing to a wine that has been around 100 years!

Comment: On the contrary I think that Jay's influence transcends more cultures and economic stratospheres than we give him credit for. Jay is now as.sociated with billionaires and he is gaining more and more power by the week. If Jay now denounces Cristal in favor of another comparable brand of Champagne, then my guess would be not only are the fans of his music going to gravitate to that, so will other folks who know him for his handlings outside of the music business.
For instance, the folks who saw him peddle Heineken might decide that the next time the want Champagne they'll go with Jay's favorite. The NASCAR set who saw Dale Earnhart Jr. cavorting with Jay in his video might decide that when they want Champagne they'll go with Jay's favorite. Jay has proven time and time again that whatever he endorses, from fashion to slang to music producers to women and now to Champagne, the followers are waiting for him to set the next trend.
I'm not really that much of a Jay fan musically anymore, but damn if you can't respect the man's business acumen and overall likability, considering he's a former self proclaimed pimp and panderer and drug dealer etc. It's impressive.

Comment: I'm just saying Herbs, Jay released one of the ugliest line of sneakers ever and they flew off the shelves. Rocawear is just plain wack, and has copied from every trendsetting designer unabashedly, and EVERYBODY in Brooklyn and much of NYC wears Rocawear. I can only imagine Rocawear's appeal in other parts of the country.
I don't know if Jay sold his soul to the devil or what but the man can do no wrong, so why doubt him with this one?

Comment: I'm pretty sure Cristal doesn't care about the boycott but I bet they care when they see the end of their financial statement. Regardless, Cristal will lose some money if hip hop stops buying their product. It may not be much but it'll be enough for them too notice.

Comment: this is comical. jay is playing on the hip hop communities obsession with materialism and spending over there means. do a goggle search on the brand and see how crafty jay was in setting this up. it's shrewd and i respect his gangsta but ain't no way i'm paying $300 or so for a bottle of champagne that no one from France ever heard of...

Comment: I'm with Cristal, this had nadda to do with race, this was about class and let's face it folks, Jay-Z has no class and no amount of money will buy him that, no matter how many billionares he hangs with, trash is still trash.

Comment: Bro Jayz...can't you find anything more productive to do with your millions? Like opening a business where our people, esp black men can get some jobs? How many blacks are being employed by this venture to put more of our money into white distillers hands? I heard he just sold rocaware for 2 million...where is the business for Black people?
