Comment: I am glad to finally see an article giving backup singers their due. Often I think they sound better than a lot of singers, not just the newbies of Idol. The backup singers and the band give the tune its real soul. Have you noticed that most backup singers are Black even when the "star" is not? Why is that? I bet it is because they have the soul to make them sound better.
