Comment: Well, clearly this is not about singing anymore. It's a popularity contest - the very thing Simon and Randy says the show is not. If there's one thing I know for sure, if Sanjaya wins American Idol will lose all credibility as a premiere vehicle for undiscovered talent.

Comment: I can only guess why J-lo was their favorite...She can't sing worth a dayum either...He11, she's like most of 'em...I'm sure that big azz made her a favorite of the dudes...Not too sure 'bout Sanjaya...Bennet and Ross are seasoned pros...They demand much more outta performers...Steffani?...The Black women are the best singers they sing circles 'round the other contestants but they probably won't win...Doo-little is by far the best of the bunch...

Comment: In this video age, unfortunately the music business today is about how you look not how much talent you have: Ciara, Janet Jackson, Amerie, Lindsey Lohan, Brittany Spears, etc.

Comment: yunvme...I hear you loud and clear. I can go from Luther Vandross/Chaka Kahn (powerful vocal's) to Sade/Will Downing (for the most part smooth but distinctive vocal's) there is room in the marketplace for all. As Bigchassie and other's know, I will not be surprised if Sanjaya takes the prize for #1 or disapponted if he doesn't. At this point the majority of the current crop of contestant's will get a recording contract. I think that I have missed my calling as an AR representative for a label.

Comment: bigchassie - I agree with you. He actually sounds half way decent this week, but he's not as good as Lakisha or Melinda. Ricky Minor has worked with some good voices so I can't believe that he said this.

Comment: Sanjaya did really well during the auditions for American Idol. I myself don't feel that I have the right to be so critical on whether or not he could be the next American Idol. I myself, am not a singer and have the vocal capability of a foghorn. Most singers these days are studio singers anyway. Very few can actually sing well. That was proven on the AMA's. Some of our Pop and R&B singers are only average singers outside of a studio. American Idol is a popularity contest, not a singing contest. Any time the judges decisions do not weigh in on whether a person stays or goes and it is up to America to call in and make the decisions--it's a popularity contest.

Comment: I hate American Idol anyway, so I'm rooting for Sanjaya to win, with his non-singing self. But the bigger question to me is, how did he even end up as a finalist to begin with? you mean to tell me that over 70,000 people audtioned nationwide for this show, and he is condidered one of the best? Thats what blows my mind. He should have never gotten to L.A. as a finalist in the first place.
