Comment: That is great news, that he is planning on higher education. It is a blessing that even though he has all the fame and money, he is still dedicated to continuing his education.

Comment: Hmmmm...
I follow college basketball very closely. Nowhere in that article did it say that USC, or any other big time college recruited Romeo at all. It only said that Romeo and his teammate "told" Coach Floyd they would play for him.
Averaging 14 points and 6 assists as a junior on a team that is not nationally heralded is a far cry from the type of recruit Pac-10 teams usually go after.
Hmmmm...

Comment: ^ thunny--I think its a 2 for 1 deal. The article mentioned that Romeo's best friend is ranked 46th of highschool recruits by scouts.com...so maybe in order to get this top prospect they had to take Romeo. He probably won't take a scholarship slot, so the coach has nothing to lose.

Comment: >>Thunny, I don't follow college ball but even the article makes a distinction b/w the "talent" of Romeo and his friend since the friend is nationally ranked on Scout.com for top junior players in the country, but strangely there was no mention of Romeo's being ranked at all!

Comment: Bertie and lurker, I think you're both right. I failed to even think about the fact that he won't take up a scholarship so that makes a big difference.
