Comment: Mothership..I feel you but, it seems to me that Mr. Chavez is following in Castro’s’ footsteps and by that I mean honoring and respecting the black experience. The USA is made cause homeboy (Chavez) is taking over down in South American and just nationalized many industries. This means that the US businesses are kicked out and those individuals who are part of the elite are migrating to the US like the Cubans did when Castro took power. I just feel that USA continues to hate on Haiti for one of the greatest Slaves revolts to every happen. Haiti continues to receive little economic support and lets’ not forget about the immigration policy. So, if Danny gotta get money in order to put Haiti’s history on a world stage for all to see…do want you gotta do. Trust me Danny is not going to find too many folks here in the US to back this project.

Comment: according to Mack "Danny Glover should refuse to accept Hugo Chavez's tainted movie deal and instead work with legitimate enterprises, investors and financiers who value freedom, treasure our nation and who won't climb into bed with renegade communist dictators,". uh excuse me but this current administration and some of those past have not valued freedom (oppressive laws and sentencing, etc), treasured it's nation (in a war that many oppose, the ongoing katrina debacle, etc.) and has climbed into bed with many "dictators" (noriega, sadam, etc.) as long it suited their agenda.

Comment: WTF, WTF?...Danny ain't gon turn down 18 million...I'm glad to hear that this movie is being done...Paramount wasn't gonna provide financial backing...My only question is how will the movie be released?...I'm sure Danny will do the story justice...Will the people that he's ask to appear in the film fear some kind of backlash?...Will Black folks go see the movie?...I for one will see it...'cause that's what I'm 'bout...Will there be a grass-root movement to see the film?...I anticipate a whole lotta controversy surrounding this film...

Comment: Anytime the racists repubs are against something...then you know its something good. Anybody that stands up to the good ole USA automatically is demonized...remember how this administration did France before the war.

Comment: Congressman Mack is hilarious. How can I tell anyone else what monies to take and not take but I personally haven't given you a nickel! In other words "don't take the money from a country that doesn't value our nation - hell every time I go to the gas station I fall out of love with America right lately!

Comment: In the meantime it is okay for gas to hit 4 bucks a gallon and government says it is because of the demand for oil, Rudy Gulliani can make over 25 million dollars since 9/11 and he did nothing but make speeches, summer jobs are a wrap for black and hispanic youth, outsourcing with our former enemies is okay, the list goes on and on. Danny should get his money however he can.

Comment: Lildiva, I truly do understand and I also respect Chavez for that as well as the Ayatolla Knomeni back in the day. Don't get me started with the USA, didn't y'allz notice that as soon as the Memorial Day holiday hit they wanna up the gas prices to damn near $5.00, it's a mass conspiracy and Bush and his oil baron boys are at the top of the heap of it. I have no problem with Danny and Chavez supportin' him and our endeavors, but one should also deal with his own people as well. Some of that money could go a long way in Venezuela and the suppression could be lighened up a bit too. My point is don't wash just one hand without washing the other.

Comment: Connie Mack is out of his m.f. mind. Now if he offered to give Mr. Glover the financial help he needs to make the film then it's all good. The republicans are a joke and so are the democrats. When they won the election last november we kept hearing about all these "changes" that were going to take place but so far I haven't seen shyt. They voted the other day to give Bush even more money to continue the disaster that is the Iraq War.

Comment: thanx to all on this board who commented w/ some type of thought and not just emotion. haiti is still to this day being treated like the stepchild of a stepchild. l'overture and jean-jacques dessalines and others handed the europeans their hats back in the 1700s and they(euros) are still mad at them. so for mack to say something like that is not surprising. the white supremacists in this country still don't want the truth to come out about the numerous slave rebellions that took place in this country and south america. and they can't stand chavez because he does have pull and he is not afraid to speak his mind. which brings up another question, will he have the longevity of a castro or will they remove him in one way or another. these people lose their minds when it comes to oil and money. this movie needed to be made a long time ago. along w/ marcus garvey's authentic story; the story of the panthers; w.e.b. dubois; frederick douglass, etc. etc. remember, if you don't understand white supremacy none of this stuff makes any sense. and even if you do most of it still doesn't make sense.
