Comment: Condolences to the Thompson family. He was a nice looking young man.

Name: slenda
Comment: Terrible news. Condolences to his family.

Name: FiveMore
Comment: What a tragedy!Rest peacefully Tony!To Be Young, Gifted and black in America!*sigh*This is so sad!

Name: TGen
Comment: Wow. This is so shocking to me. I agree with FiveMore. No doubt that a big part of this talented young man's frustration and subsequent [alleged] drug abuse had to do with his lack of success in recent years following his group's megasuccess back in the day. I'm sure there are COUNTLESS musicians/artists/writers who are similarly frustrated at the difficulty in breaking through this now trashier-than-ever industry, but I digress on that. Condolences to Tony and his fam and friends. Just...wow.

Name: star
Comment: This is sad to hear. I listened to his solo cd all the time. Fame , then no fame can be a real mutha.

Comment: AND THIS BOY COULD REALLY SANG!

Name: poeticlyspkng
Comment: This really makes me sad. I have always followed Tony's career as I LOVED Hi-Five and also loved his solo album. I'll have to get both back out in tribute.

Name: Gurlfrand
Comment: My condolences to the family of Tony. I really liked those songs that group made in the early 90's. RIP.

Comment: Tragic and disturbing news..I thought he was the cutest thing..Had all of us wanting to play "The Kissing Game"..My condolences to his family..He'll be missed I'm sure..But whats with the these singers turning to drugs to cope?..That's a tragedy all in itself!

Name: asize12
Comment: Wow. This is shocking...but then again it's not. You never know what's going on in someones life especially a celebrity. Lord only knows the pain & suffering that he must've went through. I was and still am a huge fan of his & Hi-Five. R.I.P. Tony Thompson, gone too soon.

Comment: This is so sad. This didn't have to happen.

Comment: 31...way too young. Brother had talent. First caught my ear with the New Jack Swing inspired "Just Can't Handle It". And of course who could forget the sweet, innocent (but still groovin') "Kissing Game". Rest in peace and condolenscences to his family.

Name: katgrrrl
Comment: I STILL love "Just Another Girlfriend"! My condolences to his all who knew & loved him. It's very unfortunate to lose a talented, young brother. Even worse when drugs are involved; very unnecessary loss.

Name: missgee
Comment: Rest in Peace Tony, May God's peace be upon you soul.

Name: oshun
Comment: say it ain't so! "I Like (the kissing game)" was my FAVORITE song of the summer of '91! May he rest in peace...

Name: Merd325
Comment: I loved his singing and he was so handsome. So sorry to hear this.

Name: Mas90
Comment: I am shocked. Hi-Five did a tour last year and it came to LA but I didn't go. Brothers need to talk to one another and check on each other, seriously. Brothers need hugs too!

Name: Sexee
Comment: Too young. So sad. My condolences goes out to his family.

Name: MzTee
Comment: I recall Hi Five came out during the tail end of the 'black' boy groups craze. I remember watching Hi Five on Video Soul with Donnie Simpson. I thought they were a cute little group of kids. Tony Thompson's voice kind of reminded me of Ralph Tresvant's -- they even resemble one another (HA!). Hearing/reading about someone passing who made music during my young adulthood is taking me down memory lane...RIP Tony and thanks for the light-hearted grooves!!!

Name: Deb70
Comment: This is so sad. I'm 37 and like some of you, was in my 20s when these guys were at their peak. That song still plays in my head. It's so weird to read that he's gone now. I'm so sorry about this. Prayers for his soul and for his family. At least he can have peace now.

Name: telthepe
Comment: r.i.p. tony t. and my condolences and peace to the family. may GOD bless you all!!

Name: GQ_Boo
Comment: Truly sad news ... BIG FAN here ... Tony God bless!

Name: Train
Comment: That's a shame and I hope that it serves a lesson to folks that drugs is not to answer to solving your problems. You have to face them like a man and only then will a solution be found.

Name: BigDog
Comment: I was a huge Hi-Five fan and "I Can't Wait Another Minute" and "Never Shoulda Let You Go" are my favorites. In fact, I keep their "Greatest Hits" album in the truck. I also got a chance to see them live at "Grad Nite" at Disney World in '94. Sad to hear that "T" is gone and the apparent tragic circumstances surrounding his death.

Name: Story2tell
Comment: This is sad. My favorite was ""Quality Time". I listened to it not too long ago...

Name: asize12
Comment: I too have their greatest hits cd and it's a really nice cd. I told my cousin about it and she was shocked too. She was a huge fan as well. She told me that Joe & R. Kelly wrote a lot of their songs, I wasn't aware of that. I know that R. Kelly wrote "Quality Time" but I didn't know that Joe wrote a lot of their stuff too. I heard that his solo album was nice too. My cousin told me that a friend of hers from Texas, where he's from, told her about a year ago that Tony Thompson was still working on music, but he was somewhat struggling. He didn't have a car and he was sort of "out there bad". So, I'm not surprised. It's just really sad tho.

Name: LAKat
Comment: Tony...Rest In Paradise man. You will not be forgotten.

Name: BigDog
Comment: No car?!?!? I realize that some artists whose success has waned refuse to become "regular folk," i.e. getting a "regular" job outside the entertainment industry. It's sad, but some of them would rather go hungry or walk or struggle financially in other ways rather than humble themselves to the reality that they are no longer superstars. What is also rather sad is that many of those who become stars at a young age (like the members of Hi-Five) forego their education and end up without any other marketable skills (if I remember correctly, didn't one of them leave the group to go to college?). Couple that with a lack of knowledge of financial planning, or the lack of good people/"handlers" who will teach them the importance of financial planning, and you end up with sad cases of former stars who are "out there bad."

Name: buttalove97
Comment: I was a huge Tony and Hi-Five fan as well. His solo album was great. When I heard about this, I felt like you all thinking he was so stressed with not being able to make it in the business. I didn't even know they had a reunion album last year. Poor baby. RIP. 31, dag. All it takes is a lot of humility to realize that was a part of your life and now you have to move on to something else.

Name: leokev
Comment: They do realize that "Come Over" was off his first solo joint back in '95.

Name: RMP7772000
Comment: I don't know why the parents or their gurdians don't stress about education while their seeking fame and fortune? My mom, my church members and my uncles and Aunts stress to me about education. I was modeling, singing(and I can Sing),I was an extra on the original Law and Order. But I saw the lowness that some of the people were doing to get in the spot light and I chose to do Real Estate and be An Armed Security Officer. So please all don't keep looking to drugs and anything else that will take you out of your self! It's about being loving and happy with in your self know matter what happens in your life. Some one better tell our people about praying and believing in the Guidance of God! Rest in Peace MY BROTHER-YOU WILL TRULY BE MISSED!!!!!!!
