Hopefully, the brother has learned a lesson, that is, make amends but maintain strength of character. Mr. Washington would have been better off if he had. If he had just said it on the set that would've been one thing -- but this genius said the same thing on national television. I don't think that 1997 incident had anything to with him getting fired. The gay lobby is as powerful as the female lobby -- and many of the gay organizations were upset and threatened to boycott the advertisers, just like Black folks did when Don Imus said something equally as insensitive and stupid.

Comment: Confession: Never seen one episode of "G-A." "House" was always my preference. But on the article, first off, what a poorly-written article. To just mention that Isaiah had issues since 97 and then NOT MENTION WHAT THE ISSUES WERE is soooo sorry, torture to a thorough reader. That would have done A LOT in the way of better understanding the firing, as in if this "insensitivity" thing is something he made into a habit, the firing would seem more justified, but I digress.
I'm inclined to agree with NueNue and others who correctly call this what it is: another strike from the overly-powered gay "mafia." The gay agenda is one that tries to equate Blacks' plight with homosexuals'--a grave even insulting, highly flawed comparison. But it's clear those of the gay agenda have something a lot of others don't--POWER in the entertainment industry. No doubt they wielded their power here and again came up victorious. Disclaimer: not saying what Isaiah said wasn't STOOOPID, (moreso the REPEAT of the "slur" at the award show than the one at filming), but all the subsequent idiotic manuevers like becoming a spokesperson for gay groups, etc. is evident of homosexual power in Hollyweird. *Sigh* Ultimately though, I think his career will bounce back, at least with Black audiences...

What about all of his butthole actions before the faggot incident. And, he's been a butthole for years which is probably why we have scarcely seen him in anything until now. But, that is why he was fired. People were fed up with him acting like a man child. And a spoiled one at that! This has nothing to do with GLAAD even though he gave them fuel for the fire. If he had any redeeming qualities, Shonda would have kept him but he made everyone's life on set miserable.
That's what he gets. Just because you are on a hit show run by a black woman doesn't mean you have carte blanche to act a fool. It reminds me of how black folk will ask for a discount in a black owned store but not in a white owned store.

NBC originally punished Imus by giving him a two-week suspension. Imus had a history of saying insensitive things, but was never punished until money came into the picture. Even CBS took a minute to come to a decision. NBC nor CBS wanted to fired Imus, but they were under MONEY pressure and had to let him go. If Jackson and Sharpton hadn't brought the issue to the attention of the corporate sponsors...Don Imus would still be on the air!!!
That said, I'm sure some advertisers were threatening to pull money from Grey's next season if Isaiah didn't go. They could have fired him in the beginning, but they didn't.
I guess now Isaiah will learn to keep his mouth shut and deal with whatever "issues" he has.

Katherine Heigl is the one who told the press... she's the one who brought the whole thing out in the open, because she said T.R. Knight is one of her best friends. Knight never acknowledged he was gay until after Isaiah's statement became public, probably because if he had denied it, some guy would've come forward with evidence.

Isiah had no clout, no money, and depended on someone else to write him a check to live off of. You just can go around choking people and making everyone feel uncomfortable on set and expect people to be in your corner. Heigl outed the faggot incident because she was tired of Isiah's azz. And, it worked. Why? Because he couldn't leave things alone.
Patrick Dempsey is also an a-hole which is why he also was barely working until Grey's. But, he recognized that he better keep himself in check which is why we don't hear about him acting like the Diva that he usually is. Same personality those two but different approaches.
You just can't compare everyone as if they are the same. With Hollywood, you have to factor in money, influence, familial connections, etc. Just like in LA, anyone of any level of fame gets better breaks with the law than any of us will committing the same offense. That is how the cookie crumbles.
And, how are black folk going to be mad at GLAAD for not championing black gay causes when they aren't even part of the organization? You have to actually join and participate in something to expect it to participate and work on your behalf. I'm not part of the Arbor Society and I certainly don't expect them to picket for me if the city and I have issues over what trees I want to plant.
Now, how are we going to make judgments on what is offensive to others? There are plenty of black folk who use the "n" word and think nothing of it. Then there are those, myself included, who don't differentiate between blacks or whites using the word. That is a very personal call. It reminds me of that show, Black/White, where the white mom called the black folk at the poetry set "beautiful creatures or beasts" (which Barbara Walters did the same thing to Monique about her kids) and people scattered like the klan was coming. Neither one of those are offensive to me because I understood what she was saying, however oddly she phrased it. My cousin was highly offended and %*$!ed about the situation when she said it on tv.
I guess I just can't get over all this whining about inequality. A black and white man each respectively go out and shoot someone. White gets 15 years and Black gets 25 to life for same identical crime. Most of y'all would whine and cry about the difference in sentences. Everyone knows that this society is not equal. It shouldn't be a newsflash for anyone. So instead of whining about how White got a lighter sentence, answer, why Black was out there shooting someone in the first place? If Black hadn't done the crime, there wouldn't be any discrepancy to talk about!
