Comment: Michael never said Randy tried to steal his money.Don Stabler tried to STEAL the KING'S money.Stabler wasn’t happy, Jackson said.
“[Stabler] said, ‘What’s the problem? You’re not down, you’re with the Jews now. You’re not down with blacks anymore,’” Jackson testified.
“It was unkind,” Jackson added. “It was mean. It was meanspirited. It was nasty. Simply because he couldn’t get me to sign something that he wanted me to sign.”
The next time Jackson saw Stabler “he wanted to take my head off.” And his brother Randy wasn’t too happy, either.
Randy later claimed that Jackson and his staff had run up a $700,000 bill on his American Express card during the trial, which Jackson said he would repay.
It wasn’t the first time that Stabler teamed with Randy in trying to get him to sign off on a deal, Jackson claimed.
At a meeting in a bungalow at the Neverland ranch, Jackson said he had his mother at his side when he fought off another proposal.
“And I vehemently told them, ‘No, I am not signing this,’” Jackson recalled. “And I just remember how angry, the intensity of the anger in the room. And so they marched out.”

Comment: Because Michael Jackson is a multi-Billionaire,almost everybody is trying to rip him off,But during breaks in the trial, Jackson says he was being pressured to sign off on a multimillion-dollar financing deal by Don Stabler, an associate brought in by brother Randy, his go-to guy on financial matters during much of his career.
Jackson initially took a liking to Stabler after Randy introduced them.
“He reminded me of people that live in mid-America like Indiana,” Jackson testified

Comment: A little UPDATE regarding the case MJ filed against Universal Express (the folks who held the recent auction). There was a hearing this past Friday and the Judge ORDERED Universal Express to PAY ALL OF MJ'S ATTORNEY FEES AND OTHER EXPENSES regarding this case. The Judge also held Universal Express in contempt of court, for not following his previous instructions regarding the auction items. The contempt hearing will be held next month. Janet also filed a claim and her case is pending. The Judge ordered that NOTHING ELSE goes on sale until Janet and MJ have had a chance to go through all of the items that are left in storage. The media failed to report this update, as usual.

Comment: The biggest question for me is the fact that there is an "agreement letter" which appears on Damien Dash's letterhead, but is NOT signed by Dash. There are also three other "AGREED TO" signature spaces for MJ, Dash, and Stabler. The ONLY signature which appears on the agreement letter is that of Don Stabler. Dash never signed the agreement letter, nor did MJ. How somebody can go into court with an agreement letter that is not signed (and notarized) by all parties, seems odd, in my opinion. I guess they expected MJ to make some type of settlement, before this case hit the courtroom.

Ask Oprah, who's niece sold her out to The National Enquirer on more than one occasion, or her father and his "book" deal. Or Bobby Brown's sister selling out Whitney (pictures included), to the highest bidder. As we all know, money makes folks do strange things, and unfortunately family members are not excluded!

Comment: On February 6th, 2003, it was shown in interview that Martin Bashir questioned Michael Jackson on how much he was worth. Bashir stated "How much do you think you're worth?" Jackson replied "It's way up there". After more communication, Bashir asked "A billion dollars?" to which Jackson replied "It's over there". Bashir asked for confirmation: "Over a billion dollars!" to which Jackson replied "Yes". When the interview was aired in the United States, broadcaster Barbara Walters replied, saying, “As for his claim to be worth over a billion dollars,” Walters explained, “industry sources tell us that Jackson’s last CD was not profitable and that his actual worth is in the two or three hundred million range. That’s hardly bad, but it’s nowhere near a billion”. Deputy District Attorney Ron Zonen called Jackson a “self-proclaimed billionaire”,[24] and during Jackson's trial defense attorney Thomas Mesereau Jr. said that the Beatles catalogue (of which Jackson owns 50%) was worth $1 billion in 2003. There have been estimates it's now worth between $4 billion and $5 billion[25], but forensic accountant John Duross O'Bryan testified that the total value of Jackson's %*$ets was $130 million.
Michael Jackson has never appeared on Forbes international billionaire list nor has he ever been ranked among Forbes 400 richest Americans, a list which has often required less than even half a billion for membership. When Forbes editor Peter Newcomb was asked in 2003 to explain Jackson’s absence from their lists he replied “MJ owes $250 to $300 million to a consortium of banks; you will see him selling his publishing company any month now, my prediction”.[26]Racism has also been blamed for derailing the careers of Blacks who appeared headed for billionaire status. Author and activist Dick Gregory says “Michael Jackson did something that no one thought a Black man would do. He purchased the Beatles catalog for $48 million and today it is worth $1.5 billion. He didn’t know when he bought it that the Beatles owned Little Richard’s music. Michael gave it back to Little Richard, who is very happy now. Michael also owns the Elvis Presley catalogs. A Black man owns (the music of) two of the most important music figures in the world and anytime something is played by either of them, Michael gets paid…He’s a good man and I feel that he’s been the target of a conspiracy to destroy his career. In my opinion, there are people who have a financial interest in bringing Michael down.”

Along with azzets you also have debits/bills/loans/lawsuits etc. Subtract all the loans, unpaid bills, and financing from the money you say he has. That would CLEARLY bring him under a billion. Comment: 1) As stated before, this family is no more dysfunctional than most others. The difference is that all their business is all over the news WITH a NEGATIVE SPIN and half-truths.
2) Michael is the ATV in Sony/ATV music publishing, meaning he owns HALF of the business all by himself, (over half a million songs, including the Beatles catalog and some Elvis) and Sony/ATV is either the 2nd or 3rd largest music publishing company in the WORLD, the last I heard. www.sonyatv.com/index.php/news/261
Plus, he owns ALL of his own music (Mijac) since his solo career began.
3) Michael gave away more money to charities than Oprah made last year, before Oprah had it to give. The difference between him and people like Oprah and Robert Johnson is that he owns land all over the world and put most of his money in Swiss/offshore accounts away from the prying eyes of the U.S. Gov. Therefore, nobody knows for sure how much he’s worth and it really ain’t nobody’s business, but, he is estimated to be worth at least 5 billion, half of Sony/ATV alone is estimated to be worth 2 billion. He’s good friends with some of the richest people on earth, including a Saudi King, whom I’ve heard is the richest man in world and ya know they ain’t gonna being hangin’ around with NO broke Negro.
4) As far as this case goes, it’s one of the last of a string of CONs, and it appears that Michael never signed anything, nor gave anyone permission to sign for him. It also appears that they MAY HAVE fooled Randy, but Michael wasn’t fooled and got advise from other friends.
5) Anyway, it seems as though he’s got a good lawyer/accountant team working for him now, who has been dealing with these con cases one by one instead of settling like his old team advised to make mo’ money for themselves, which only caused more bogus suits to be filed.

Money talks, Jackson to Jackson
Mary Owen
Published June 18, 2007
Rev. Jesse Jackson said Sunday that he has counseled Michael Jackson -- whom he has known since the early 1970s, during the days of the Jackson 5 -- financially and spiritually since the start of the singer's 2005 child molestation trial.
"There were all these decisions that he had to make," Jesse Jackson told the Tribune. "I was simply one voice that had some access to him. I do not credit myself with having the determining voice."
Jesse Jackson said he met with bankers on the performer's behalf, told him to reduce spending and suggested charging for admission to Neverland Ranch. When some people urged the singer to rid himself of debt by selling off his music publishing holdings, Jesse Jackson said that he urged him not to do so.
He said the singer's business deal with Sony that owns and administers copyrights of thousands of songs is one of Jackson's most valuable long-term %*$ets.
"[I'll do] whatever I can do to make sure that the Sony coalition continues, I think it's mutually beneficial," Jesse Jackson said. "Its success has worldwide ramifications."
A Santa Maria, Calif., jury acquitted Michael Jackson of child molestation in June 2005.
Citing court transcripts, the New York Daily News reported Sunday that the singer said he turned to Jesse Jackson and billionaire Ron Burkle for guidance after suspecting other advisers were exploiting him.
"Michael's resources are substantial," Jesse Jackson said. "Wherever there is money, there are predators and greed."
Jesse Jackson said he referred the singer to Burkle.
"Burkle was capable, credible and honest with no need to exploit Michael," he said.
Jesse Jackson added that Michael Jackson is "business-focused" these days and will soon come out with a new "product," but he declined to elaborate.

Comment: The Sultan is famous for his vast automobile collection. In 1998, the British car magazine Autocar published undercover photographs of the Sultan's cars, which included unique conversions of Ferraris and Bentleys into station wagons. He is variously said to have owned between 3,000 and 5,000 cars; although the number purchased by his business interests and the number actually used by himself and his family differ greatly. According to Guinness World Records the Sultan's personal private collection has 500 Rolls-Royces — the largest collection of that marque in the world. During the 1990s, his family accounted for almost half of all Rolls-Royce purchases, bulk buying slightly modified vehicles for diplomats and adding unique cars to their own collection. He also owns the very last Rolls-Royce Phantom VI, a 1992 state landaulette.

Comment: Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, who has been the richest man in the world for many years, certainly has a fine way to spend his money. He owns around 5000 cars: the most expensive, the most beautiful, the most rare, the fastest, the unique...yes, he has them all. He keeps them in five big warehouse-garages. One visitor of the sultan's garage's once said: "It can take an hour and a half just to get a certain car out if it's been parked right at the back."
The cars are driven by the Sultan, members of his family, and also by the ministers of state, government officials and other members of the royal household.

Comment: The ignorance on this so-called intelligent black board is astounding. And these would be the same people on the Oprah threads or Whitney threads chewing people out for trashing them or not trying to uplift them and so on.
I would not respond to such foolishness, its childish. I presume its a lot of jealously and ignorance as I notice many of the posters say " well its in the news" he's broke! YOu guys still believe everything on the news?? If these are adult people like they say, there truly is no hope for the future of Black young people. They're as doomed as the " media" say they are.

Comment: Michael Jackson settles breach of contract claim
Mon Jun 18, 2007 3:51 PM EDT
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Debt-laden pop singer Michael Jackson reached a settlement on Monday over a breach of contract claim by New Jersey-based finance house Prescient Capital.
Prescient sued Jackson and his MJ Publishing Trust in July 2005 for $48 million alleging breach of contract after providing financial advice to Jackson and his various companies.
Prescient said it helped Jackson secure a commitment for a total of $537.5 million in financing to enable him pay off a $272.5 million debt to Bank of America and to possibly exercise his 'Put Option' to purchase the 50 percent interest in Sony/ATV Music Publishing he does not currently own. Prescient secured funding from New York-based hedge fund Fortress Investment Group.
Sony/ATV, the world's fourth largest music publisher, is jointly owned by MJ Publishing Trust and Sony Corp. Among its valuable catalog of songs are most of the hit songs of the Beatles and songs penned by Jackson himself.
Michael Jackson has been reported to be struggling with debt which saw him seek refinancing to avoid losing publishing rights to his valuable catalog of songs, which also includes songs by Bob Dylan and John Mayer.
A spokesman for Jackson told Reuters the settlement means that both the Beatles and Jackson's song and others in the library are "safe and sound."
Court documents showed a voluntary dismissal of the breach of contract claim.
The terms of the settlement were not disclosed in filings at the U.S. District Court Southern District of New York.

Sony/ATV Buys Viacom's Famous Music For $370M
May 31, 2007 10:43 a.m. EST
Mary K. Brunskill - AHN Staff Writer
New York, NY (AHN) - Sony/ATV Music Publishing, a joint venture between Sony and trusts set up by Michael Jackson, is purchasing the music publishing business Famous Music from Viacom. Sony is paying about $370 million in the deal and will be acquiring more than 125,000 songs, among them "Moon River," "Footloose" and Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady."
Jackson said in a statement: "This is a milestone event for Sony/ATV Music Publishing. The diverse collection of songs in this catalogue range from timeless classics to contemporary hits, and I am pleased to add the acquisition of Famous Music to Sony/ATV."
Famous Music started in the late 1920s as a publisher of music for films. Sony/ATV will now be the owner of a number of movie theme songs, including those for "The Godfather" and "Beverly Hills Cop."
Other songs on the Famous Music roster that now belong to Sony/ATV include songs by Shakira, Beck and Bjork.

Comment: People the value of a person's company does not necessarily equal their personal wealth. In other words the value of Michael the company is different from the value of Michael the individual. The company and its holdings could very well be worth a couple of billions, but that doesn't necessarily make the owner a billionaire because as with any corporation, there are many many hands in the pot. That why you have situation where a company may do millions in sales, but the owner of the company isn't a millionaire or you can even have the reverse. So when the publishing company is paying $370 million, its not like its money coming directly out of Michael's pocket. The wealthy rarely use their personal money for anything.

Comment: Re: remello
Sounds like a win for Michael since it was DISMISSED with prejudice, meaning for good reason and the plaintiff is barred from filing the same claim again.
As for the settlement, I wonder how much they had to pay him?!? Or perhaps he threw them a bone just to be done with it rather than wasting his time with a trial...that can be the smarter move SOMETIMES, I guess...main thing is that his investments are safe and sound.
Hmmm, he can't be in too much debt since he and Sony just made two major purchases in the last month or two, one for $370 MILLION! LOL!

Comment: I agree with you MsMo. And according to the lawsuit that was filed, Prescient claimed to have also secured over $400 MILLION in order for MJ to buy the other half of Sony/ATV. Now you certainly can't be too bad off financially if somebody is willing to loan you OVER 400 MILLION DOLLARS. Ain't nobody trying to loan money to a broke person. LOL!

Comment: MsMo - It was dismissed with prejudice because the parties settled out of court.....Showtime- the judge did not rule on a winner/loser of the case due to the settlement, so he wouldn't dictate who pays attorneys fees. That's covered in the settlement agreement.

Comment: Angel, the "auction" case was also settled out of court, but the Judge ordered that the folks who held the auction had to pay all of MJ's legal bills related to that case. I find it interesting that the Judge in this case made not such order for Presicent's benefit.

Comment: yasmine1 - PLEASE trust me when I say that I'm not jealous of ANYBODY who's on MJ's d*ck. I actually feel sorry for them. MJ is in need of some serious mental help and if it wasn't for all of these yes men surrounding him, he probably would've gotten help a long time ago. I love the OLD MJ before he mutilated himself and chose to speak in a childlike squeaky voice as a grown azz man. I will never understand what happened to him and I've NEVER wished him ill will, but at some point you have to call a spade a spade....he's a musical genius, but something ain't right in his head.

Comment: yasmine1 - As for the facts, you conveniently leave out facts that are not favorable to MJ. That's what I mean about pro-MJ propoganda. I would have more respect for your comments if you would concede that he has some issues and all of his problems don't stem from some conspiracy to bring him down. There is some ish that MJ is responsible for, but you seem to always ignore or gloss over those. If you gave the COMPLETE facts, it wouldn't be so obvious what your motives are.

Comment: Angel, there was another court hearing this past Friday. The Judge not only order Universal Express to pay MJ's legal fees, he also held Universal Express in contempt of court, for not following his earlier instructions. The contempt hearing will be held next month. It was also brought out, that Janet has now joined this case. The Judge further ordered that Universal Express cannot sell anything else, until MJ and Janet have gone through what ever is left. This information comes from the Court's website. I figured if the news was pro-MJ, the media would not cover it, so I looked it up myself. (Which is basically the way I do things, I don't trust the media to tell me anything. The best way to get the FACTS is to see EXACTLY what happened in court. That way, you don't have to filter out the SPIN. LOL!)

Like I said yesterday...
"We claim that Prescient's efforts never materialized," said attorney L. Londell McMillan, adding that Jackson settled to avoid the financial costs of a trial.

"The most important thing is that Michael Jackson's publishing catalog remains safe and sound," said Jackson's lawyer, L. Londell McMillan, whose clients have included Prince and
Stevie Wonder.
