Comment: I'l tell you what happened to Lauryn...she was so determined to show Wyclef that she was the driving force of the Fugees (when she got pregnant, he asked her to leave the tour and also it kind of put him on the hot seat because as the story goes no one who know the daddy was until the child was born)(Wycelf was back & forth between Lauryn and the women who is now his wife back then)...that she came off like Miseduction was solely her creation. It was not. She was forced via a lawsuit to pay those who helped her create that record. John Legend was not one that sued but listen to Miseducation, you'll hear John's stamp all over it. She can't create another Miseducation, because she didn't create the sound of that one. Her personal life is a wreck and from this clip, it sounds like Carnegie Hall (the concert I walked out of some five years ago)all over again. I don't know Lauryn's coming to the BK in either late July or August...imagine that with a Brooklyn crowd. Lauryn needs to finally get herself some help to get her mind right if she is to have a career, or even sustain a concert stage. Notice she does well on the songs that really don't require anything. The low register songs we can all sing well. She's not the first sista to need help and surely won't be the last. Again, She needs to get her mind right -- girlfriend ain't making no sense at all.

If you are expecting $$$ for your work, you've got to come correct, period, or you're just not professional. As a music writer, please believe that my editor will not excuse me for 'being myself' if I turn in garbled BS 2 hours past deadline, I will just be unemployed.
Ms. Hill must be surrounded by 'yes people' who lie to her about her present abilities and her remaining relevance to the music industry, which will be zilch if she keeps this tired $#!* up. If this present reincarnation of Lauryn is 'the real deal,' then I will continue to spin 'Miseducation....' and celebrate the beautiful enlightened fraud that I paid for and not spend anymore of my hard-earned $$$ on her 'authentic' madness.

Comment: I'm puzzled myself as to what happen to Lauryn. Instead of writing music she needs to take another sabbatical in the far east some where and become a public speaker of some sort and education people on her struggles..I guess. I could not understand anything that she was saying during her speech but apparently she moved the crowd if anything but not by her performance. Her performance reminded me of when she was younger on Apollo. Although she was a youngster she was horrible and it sounds as though it happened again. Not everyone can stay on top all of there careers and some artist need to recognize that. Whatever she may be going through I hope that she gets the help that she needs. I would hate to think that she is using something or she maybe experiencing some type of depression..I don't know but I think that she would be better off doing speaking engagements, open up a youth center, teach poetry in motion, go to one of those social clubs where everyone just snap their fingers in applause...but don't keep giving us this jack-up commentary with your diluted lyrics where no one can groove to them. Damn Lauryn....

Comment: Soulwriter, now dang if you didn't say a mouth full. Additionally I would consider the bigger picture. SONY (now SONYBMG) advanced her a lot of money. I would bet the pressure is from them. Either they will release the tracks they have in the vault, or she releases new material. In my opion either way SONYBMG doesn't care. Her projects will either be a write off if it flops or increase the profit margin (sales are down for CD sales and digital music is not making the kind of money recorded sales are). Lauryn get a producer or an arranger, or heck even a REAL songwriter to work with who can make some sense out of what you're trying to say. India.aire, Alicia Keyes...please come help this child! Dang if this isn't some Whitney madness (but on another level)

Comment: Genius and insanity go hand in hand. If ever there were an example of this, it's Lauryn. A brilliantly talented musician, actress, rapper but flawed in mental stamina. I hate seeing such talent being underutilized. I wish I could just carry a tune, and here she is with all the gifts letting life blow by her and making a mockery of herself in the process..I hope she gets it together before something tragic happens.

Comment: If this is how she is acting during a performance, how is she mothering those four kids of hers??? It's just sad to see and read that she's lost that spark she once had. I was looking at a picture of her the other day taken when she was at the height of her popularity. She was glowing and fresh and "looked" happy. And now she seems to be just a shell of her old self. If she is able to get it together, she'd have a very real testimony to give.

Comment: How sad. So very, sad. I'm manning up and saying that as one of her biggest fans, I MUST ask you what's up? Once again, the once mighty is falling. A rebellious spirit and a tortured soul is a lethal combination, and right now, Lauryn, her career is on life support. Since I know she is a talented sister, I'd rather see her sit it out, wait it out -- whatever it is and how long it takes -- until she can bring herself back. That may not be possible, but if this is the best she can do, perhaps she should be let out of her obligations. Who needs this? Not the public and definitely not Lauryn. I thought -- I wish -- she was on her way back. But as a die-hard fan, I'll just wait and see. If she doesn't, then really doesn't matter. None of us stay where we are forever -- but when you have to go out -- make it on a high note, if you can. Lauryn, I have two words for you and I mean this sincerely: GET HELP!!

I hope no one is getting me twisted out there; I loved Lauryn, even grew locs because of her, so this meltdown is a painful one to witness. I knew the child was gone when she tried charging $10G's for interviews and then filled Essence with 3 pages of nothing last year by refusing to answer any real questions. She needs to swallow her pride and get some help; I have writing talent, but I still need editing to shape my words and clarify my point---why doesn't she submit to someone's input or guidance, what more could she possibly lose? Calling Kanye, Pharrell, Palow La Don, Missy, Ne-Yo....come on somebody, STAGE AN INTERVENTION AND HELP THIS CHILD!!!

Comment: Mayabe I'm the only one who isn't surprised. I always felt that she was overrated, her talent was always questionable (even when she was with the Fugees). Only God himself knows why she allowed her life to self destructed. She should really give up doing concerts because pretty soon, no one will even come see her at the county fair. When we went to her concert here in San Diego a few years ago, we were in total disbelief on how bad her performance was. She did not sing one song from the Miseducation and after that, I would never pay money to see her perform. She is really, really pitiful and maybe she's performing because her cash flow is low who knows but in all seriousness, she needs to seek some psychiatric help and get it together.

Rohan is married, was married when she hooked up with him but obviously she thought what she has between her legs is/was enough to get him to leave his wife. He didn't and she probably banked on it so she had a hard fall cause it didn't even pan out like that. Lauryn's troubles stem from her bad choices and the way she intrepreted things, nothing more.

Comment: I don't know what is going on w/Lauren Hill. I don't know who really produced/wrote her album. What I do know is that it won her 5 grammys and I still listen to it now, 9 years later. All this "she ain't all that" talk is bunk. Hers was one of the best cds I've ever heard. I feel very badly that she is such a mess right now in the public eye but I hope and I did pray that she will rise again to where she was and maybe even surpass it. This world loves to shoot somebody to the top and then gleefully watch him/her fall off the pedestal and that's just sad. I wish nothing but the best for her because she has an amazing gift that God gave her and I hope she can put out some more music I can enjoy.

As soon as things are flowing and going great - out comes some tragedy or some emergency or something that gets in your way - sometimes temporarily, sometimes permanently. Comment: i hate to say it. lord knows i do. but it is all over for ms. hill. the score with the fugees was 11 years ago--miseducation was 9 years ago. so it has been a LOOONG time since this sista has seen a hit record. she prolly don't even know what one sounds like, looks like, or sells like in 2007-2008. now think REAL real hard. who in the game today has gone that long without a hit record and made a full comeback? mariah and janet only went 2-3 years without a hit and when they charted again it was called a comeback. but 2-3 years is a hellva big difference than 9 YEARS. it looks to be over for her. she better raise those kids to the best of her ability off of her royalties and their granddaddy bob's estate b/c she is DONE.

I think that Lauren has had some mental issues for a long while, even as far back as the Fugees considering what was going on with her and Wyclef, it just so happens that at the time she was able to still get out a good product in spite of the issues. More than likely she doesn't think she has a problem and she is not going to get help until she decides that she does have a problem, stories like these have been going on about 2 years (remember the story from the Rolling Stone?) Just like this isn't the first bad performance, simply she spaces them so far apart people think they are isolated incidents. My thought also go along with the poster that questioned her behavior with her children---that IS something to think about, bump an album, how is she raising those kids? Hopefully there are some good Grandmothers, Nanny's or even Rohan (hopefully he is better at being a father than being faithful) involved.

Comment: I remember our radio station KBLX had some callers that had went to the concert calling and talking about how half the crowd walked out of the show & asked for refunds, only to be told that the promoter wasn't giving out any refunds! If that's the case, they need to be put under the jail, right next to Ms. Hill for performing like that. I hope & pray she gets the help she needs. We don't need another train wreck happening!

Comment: It's not one bad concert. Sadly, Lauryn has built a reputation for this kind of nonsense. People demanded refunds when she was "supposed" to perform at Prince's club 3121 in Vegas a few months back. She held up things with a THREE HOUR SOUNDCHECK!!! Then went to get dinner and NEVER returned!! Some folks waited until 1 a.m. because of her rep of starting late, but it was to no avail. The club issued refunds. Lauryn needs help!
