Comment: Hey LawdHvMrcy, Right now I am in NY dealing with getting a new tenant for my house. Then imma head to Charlotte. I have been in the caribbean for the past few months on a test drive to see if i can adjust to life there since that is where i will live with my hubby. It was not as bad as i feared (everyone kept sayin i would hate it cause i left when i was 10yrs old). So we found out that our love is strong, not just a vacation long distance romance, so i am picking up the wedding dress etc while in ny. Now that we will prolly (lol) do it in the caribbean, the dress i bought is not appropriate....since we wanted a winter wedding. Hopefully the store will allow me to exchange it since it is fully paid for and being held at the store for me.

Promise me you won't tell me." Confused, the father asked what was wrong. The boy sobbed, "When I was six, I got the 'There's no Easter Bunny speech.' At seven, I got the 'There's no Tooth Fairy' speech. When I was eight, you Hit me with the 'There's no Santa' speech. And it wasn't the time 'cause it's too damn hot and humid to be cracking up and applying at the same time. Tears and sweat don't mix! Even Shirley said she had to leave the booth. And then the Strawberry Letter about the 12 year old whose moother took her for an abortion after becoming pregnated by her father. She told her friend and swore her to secrecy. Her friend's mom figured something wrong and approched the child. She wanted to know if she should tell someone in authority because the girl is regressing and one time urinated in class. The mother doesn't speak to the little girl as if it's her fault. It happens so many times, sad to say. So many that we don't know of.

I wish I knew the young girl, she could come stay with me. I would personally kill that daddy with no reservations.

Via NY Post: USHER’S walk down the aisle with his pregnant stylist-turned-fiancée, Tameka Foster, is going to happen soon. We hear they plan to wed at a private house in the Hamptons by the end of this month, not in the fall as they’ve said in the past. “They want to get married before she gives birth,” our source said. Comment: God gave Black people 500 billion talents. He gave Hispanic people 35 billion talents. He gave Asian people 225 billion talents. He left us alone for one year, and then returned to see what we had done with our talents. God asked the Asian people, 'What have you done with your resources. 'The Asians replied, 'We created many businesses and purchased many franchises. We used our resources to assist our families and our Asian friends, helping them to get into business as well.' The Asians continued, 'Lord, we knew that with 225 billion talents we could generate even more talents by pooling what we had and working together toward a common economic goal. We have doubled the amount you awarded us. We now have 550 billion talents. And to top it all off, our restaurants are going strong; everybody loves our food!' The Lord said, 'Well done, my good and faithful servants. I will make you rulers over many things.' God then asked the Hispanic people what they had done with their inheritance. They gleefully replied, 'Lord, You are really going to be proud of us. Upon receipt of our talents, we went to work right away and formed our own bank. We have one in Florida that ranks among the largest in all the land. And you know what else? The interest we are making, will more than double the amount of talents You gave us.' As God nodded approvingly, the Hispanic people couldn't wait to continue. 'We opened fast food shops and sidewalk stands. We sold fruit, enchiladas, and tacos. We supported Hispanic doctors, lawyers, accountants, and all the Hispanic businesses we could find. If a certain business did not exist in our community, we pooled our resources and started new ones. We have done very well, Lord, especially considering the short time we have been in this land.' And God said, 'Well done, my good and faithful servants. I will make you rulers over many things.'

Name: naturalsista
Comment: Since God had given the most talents to His chosen people - Black people, He couldn't wait to hear what they had done with their 500 billion talents. Like a doting father, He proudly asked them, 'What have you done with your inheritance?' After turning their music down in order to hear what God was saying, the Black people waved their hands in the air (like they just didn't care) and shouted, 'Lord, we just threw the party of the century, and it was all good! Look at those bad rides parked outside... We bought them from the German people and the Japanese people. Wouldn't You agree, Lord, that we did good deeds by helping to make them wealthy?' Even God looked perplexed. He asked if there was anything else the Black people wanted to report. 'Oh yeah' You haven't heard the half of it, Lord. We're the most charitable people on earth. We spent 95% of all You gave us with businesses other than our own. We helped everyone. We didn't discriminate and we didn't playa-hate.' Then one of the Black leaders spoke up. 'You know how we like nice clothes, Lord. So, after the party, we went out and bought all of the latest styles with all of the right labels. You know what I'm saying? We just had to have it; we couldn't wait. Check us out.' Now, the Lord was quite concerned about His people, and their attitude regarding their talents... Continuing to probe, and expecting to hear something that would make Him proud, God pleaded, 'Surely you have done something with your inheritance to generate more talents for yourselves?' The Black people looked around at one another, and one of their 'leaders' stepped forward to sum things up. 'Lord we have the finest cars, we eat and drink only top shelf, and we meet in only the most elaborate hotels. Our children have several pairs of the latest gym shoes, we make the Baddest videos and we can throw down -- I mean dance -- with the best of them. Even better than that, we have good jobs to earn back our 500 billion talents next year, so we will again be able to help all the other inhabitants of this land.' Sadly, God looked at His people and said, 'With what you have done with your talents, you may as well have buried them in the ground. Because of your slothfulness and lack of good stewardship, I will give your future talents to those who have the least. You have gravely disappointed me by not adhering to one of my most important admonishments: To whom much is given, much is expected.'

Comment: LONDON, England (AP) -- Female genital mutilation, commonly associated with parts of Africa and the Middle East, is becoming a growing problem in Britain despite authorities' efforts to stamp it out. The Metropolitan Police, Britain's largest police force, hopes a campaign beginning Wednesday will highlight that the practice is a crime here. To make their point, police are offering a 20,000-pound (euro29,500; US$40,000) reward for information leading to Britain's first prosecution for female genital mutilation, Detective Chief Superintendent Alastair Jeffrey said. In Britain, the problem mostly involves first-generation immigrants from Africa and the Middle East. Police say they do not have comprehensive statistics about the number of victims. But midwife Comfort Momoh, who specializes in treating them at London hospitals and clinics and who works with police, told the news conference she treats 400-500 victims every year. Arranging or carrying out the procedure -- in Britain or abroad -- is a criminal offense punishable by up to 14 years in prison, but no one has been prosecuted since it was banned under British law in 2003, Jeffrey said. Police estimate up to 66,000 girls in Britain face the risk of genital mutilation. "The timing of this campaign is for one good reason: so we can get in before the summer holidays, a time when young girls are taken abroad and subjected to genital mutilation," he told a news conference on Tuesday. Mutilated infants, girls and women face irreversible lifelong health risks -- both physically and mentally, according to UNICEF and other charity groups. Authorities believe the number of genital mutilation cases peaks in the summer, because the extended holiday gives girls more time to recover -- thereby making it easier for those responsible to cover up their actions. Female genital mutilation usually involves the removal of the clitoris and other parts of female genitalia. Those who practice it say it tames a girl's sexual desire and maintains her honor. It is practiced by Muslims and Christians alike, deeply rooted in the Nile Valley region and parts of sub-Saharan African, and is also done in Yemen and Oman. Through migration, the practice has spread to Western countries like Britain. Between 100 million and 140 million women are believed to have been subjected to the practice in Africa and an additional 3 million girls face the threat of female genital mutilation every year, according to UNICEF.

Comment: His salary, though, could take a team out of the potential sweepstakes after the 2009-10 season when LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade can become free agents. Sure, there have been troubled players who have succeeded, like Rasheed Wallace with the Pistons and Dennis Rodman with the Bulls. But this, according to newspaper reports over the years, is what you also get with Randolph: •1995. Thirty days in juvenile detention for shoplifting. •High school years: Thirty days of house arrest for battery. •Thirty days in juvenile detention for receiving stolen property, a gun. •2002. Underage drinking arrest in Marion, Ind., his hometown. •2003. Team suspension by the Trail Blazers for sucker-punching teammate Ruben Patterson in practice and breaking his eye socket. •2003. Arrested in Portland for driving under the influence of intoxicants and marijuana. •2004. Accused by police of lying in an investigation of his brother shooting three men in an Indiana nightclub. •2006. Suspended by the Trail Blazers for making obscene gestures to fans after a game in Indiana. •2006. Sued by a Portland woman for sexual %*$ault, though prosecutors didn't file criminal charges. •2007. Left a strip club without paying the bill while he was on bereavement leave from the team and missed three games after the death of his girlfriend's cousin. •2007. Earlier this month, police were called to the parking lot of a strip club where Randolph and teammate Darius Miles were part of a gathering and a gunshot was fired.

But what I found amazing is the majority companies that started out black-owned are now owned by white companies. There are only a few black-owned hair care companies. Basically the woman said we are being exploited by other cultures b/c most hair care stores are owned by asians. When need to stop selling our sh^t. Just a little fact: 80 percent of black companies formed in America since 1950 that became major movers sell out to white companies.

Comment: Scholarship offers were on the table from Valparaiso and other mid-major basketball programs, but Jeff Jordan had his eye on Illinois even before coach Bruce Weber expressed much interest in his athletic talent. The university fit his academic needs. He had friends from high school heading to Champaign. And tuition probably wasn't going to be a problem. "I was going to come mostly for academic reasons," he said, "and I wasn't interested in playing at first." When Weber came around, the kid from Chicago jumped at the chance to become one of hundreds of players who will serve supposedly in obscurity — as walk-ons for Division I basketball programs next season. The difference is that Jordan could become the country's most celebrated walk-on. News of his decision to attend Illinois and enroll this summer was published in Sports Illustrated and newspapers across Canada and was circulated worldwide by The Associated Press. That kind of publicity comes with the territory when your father, whose first name is Michael, is regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time and was once estimated by Fortune magazine to have boosted the U.S. economy by $10 billion. In time, Jeff Jordan's name might have as great an impact on Illinois as his skills. "We've received very positive publicity and feedback," Weber said. "Hopefully he can have some success, and then when you have Michael's name attached ... I hope it ends up being a positive thing for him and for us." At Valparaiso, Jordan immediately would have fit into the rotation as a freshman, said recruiting analyst Dave Telep of Scout.com. At Illinois, his role will be more tenuous. He is taking two summer classes and spends many afternoons playing pick-up games with his future teammates. Although a walk-on, Jordan has "preferred" status, meaning he won't have to try out for the team.

Name: oldschoolbrother
Comment: His playing time could be limited in the winter, but his presence might have a quick impact, Telep said. "The biggest thing to come out of his commitment is from a recruiting perspective," he said. "Bruce has the ability to walk into someone's living room and explain that the greatest player on the planet entrusted him to advancing his son's career as a basketball player. I would think that can be a significant part of the conversation." Jeff Jordan averaged 15 points as a senior at Loyola Academy and was named the Chicago Catholic League's MVP. He played on the team with his brother, Marcus, who will be a junior next season and is considered a better prospect. Besides handling his psychology major with a minor in business, Jeff Jordan believes he can handle major college basketball. Many analysts have noted his recent improvement, but being stuck at 6 feet 1 inch won't help. These days he's adjusting to more than the level of talent. Leaving Chicago has not helped ease the level of attention that he garnered at Loyola Academy. "It's kind of the same because a lot of people here know who I am already," Jordan said. "It's probably more hectic because I don't have parents here to deflect it away. But I'm used to it. Being at Bulls games when I was young, I saw how my dad got mauled. Once my parents saw how the media was approaching me in high school, they gave me tips on how to deal with things." Jeff Jordan does his best to discourage comparisons to his father. He wore No. 32 in high school, not because it transposed dad's No. 23 but because it was "the only choice I had left.' He opted for No. 13 at Illinois to honor his mother's birthday of June 13. "He's out to prove to people he's been more than a kid with a last name," said Patrick Mahoney, athletics director at Loyola Academy. "He's more than Michael Jordan's son."

Name: oldschoolbrother
Comment: But it will be hard to separate himself if his father starts showing up for games at %*$embly Hall as he did regularly for Jeff's high school games. Mahoney said the elder Jordan attended eight or nine home games a season. "He has his own security people, and they worked with us," Mahoney said. "Sometimes we roped off a section, but he didn't want the attention. He liked the front row of the bleachers in a corner. He wanted to fit in with little distraction." Loyola benefited from the Jordan effect. Jeff signed his first autograph in the eighth grade, and the spotlight has persisted. The school had six games televised, including one by ESPN, during his tenure on the team. He has been around his father's business ventures his entire life, visiting the Nike corporate headquarters in Oregon and studying the operation. He would seem a potential bonanza for the Illinois sports marketing minds, but Jordan said he would be uncomfortable being publicized with his current status. "They haven't approached me about it, but I'm sure it will arise in the future," he said. "I'll take it as it comes. It would depend on what they asked me to do. I don't want to overshadow the players if I'm not getting time. But if I'm playing and they feel I'm marketable, it's something I'd like to do." Analysts agree that a school like Valparaiso in a mid-major conference would have enjoyed greater benefits from having Jordan on its roster. Illinois already has numerous games televised each season. And the Illini have sold out every game in recent years, so his presence won't necessarily sell tickets. But few deny that he'll be good for the program. "I don't see how it would hurt a program to align itself with Michael Jordan," said national analyst Jerry Meyer of Rivals.com. "It's sort of a no-brainer. ... All great people, great programs, great corporations want to surround themselves with greatness."

Comment: Kool & the Gang says there's no age limit on cool- NEW YORK (Reuters) - In trademark shades and wide-collared open shirts, Kool & The Gang claim there is no age limit to being cool as the group returns with a new CD, its first studio album in 10 years. Formed in New Jersey in 1964, the group has gone through several musical phases over the years, ranging from jazz to rhythm and blues, funk and disco. "Still Kool," from Universal's New Door Records, hit stores Tuesday (July 10). Two of the four original band members, Robert "Kool" Bell, 56, and his 55-year-old brother Ronald (also known by his Muslim name, Khalis Bayyan), said the group has moved on since its 1980s hits like "Joanna," "Celebration," "Get Down On It" and "Jungle Boogie." After falling off the public radar in the 1990s, the group is hoping a new generation of young musicians that has joined the band's 12-man lineup -- including Robert Bell's son Hakim and 23-year-old singer Jirmad Gordon -- will bring the group new success. They spoke to Reuters about their long career and staying cool. Q: Why a 10-year gap in albums? A: RONALD - "The inspiration comes when it does. We've been touring and thinking about this, but you have to wait until the inspiration comes, and then comes the opportunities. The content, some of it, is very timely to the situation that is going on the world."

Comment: Q: Is it hard to get known for new work, not just the old hits? A: RONALD - "We have a couple of younger people in the band. We wanted to broaden our audience. People do get surprised as they expect us to be a dance band, but we are more than just that. If you follow the history of Kool & the Gang, we were an instrumental band, but when disco came along we needed to switch to that kind of music to stay involved and current. We did a rap album, but I don't think people want to hear their fathers rapping." ROBERT - "We constantly have our ears on what is going on. We tour a lot, and we travel everywhere from Moscow to Australia. There is a lot of inspiration that comes from that and keeps us going. We have young guys in the band with new ideas." Q: Is it hard to stay true to your name -- cool? A: RONALD - "Everyone always want to be cool even when it is hot. Everyone loves those cool shades and everyone want to be cool. It is something of destiny. We picked a perfect name for it -- Kool was my brother's nickname -- and I think that helps. We try to stay level-headed." ROBERT - "Cool is fashion. Cool is what is happening and what is hip. I think cool will be around when we are long gone. People who are 75 and 80 years old can still be cool, there is no limit to being cool." Q: You've introduce a new generation to the band. Is this part of a handover plan? A: ROBERT - "That could be part of the plan. We have our own record label now and the brand is there." Q: But not thinking of retiring just yet? A: RONALD - "We are not over yet, we have other things we want to do -- radio, TV shows and movies. When my legs won't run to those airports anymore, then I might give up." ROBERT - "We have a few more years yet. I always say that Mick Jagger is about 65 right now, and he is still rock 'n' rolling."

Comment: July 10, 2007. A few months ago Wesley Snipes surrendered to authorities charging him with federal tax evasion. But it now looks like he may have more trouble ahead of him than just the law. One of Wesley's pals reached out to MediaTakeOut.com with concerns that the Blade star may be on the verge of harming himself. The friend, who's known Wesley for many years, claims that Snipes has been acting strangely lately - and the behavior is worrisome. The pal told MediaTakeOut.com, "Wesley has been really depressed over the [tax evasion] case. I've never seen him this way." The concerned friend added, "One time when we were talking about one thing or another and, all of a sudden, he started talking about prison. What struck me about the conversation was that he said something to the effect of 'I can't go to jail if I'm not alive' ... It's that kind of talk that frightens me." And there's more. Wesley's buddy claims that a few weeks ago, the actor spent days hauled up in a hotel room - all by himself. The friend explained to MediaTakeOut.com, "He claimed he was meditating in there, but no one meditates for days. His wife is worried, his friends are worried, and I really want him to get some help." Wesley Snipes is scheduled to stand trial for tax evasion charges this fall. If convicted he faces up to 16 years in prison. Developing...

Comment: Is Ne-Yo nervous about Karrine Steffans? Not really. At the Essence Music Festival on Saturday, the singer/songwriter shrugged off any romantic affiliation with the infamous model-turned-author, who is planning a second book, "The Vixen Diaries." Last week we reported that Steffans told King magazine about a night in which Ne-Yo rubbed and bit her feet before telling her, "I don't care what happened before, but your life didn't start until the day you met me, and no matter what happens if we just stay friends, we end up together, it doesn't matter" (see "Ne-Yo And Lil Wayne, Look Out — Video Vixen Karrine Steffans Ready To Kiss And Tell Again"). Ne-Yo told the media backstage at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans that there was no validity to her claims. "You know what, when the whole gay rumor [surfaced,] people were telling me, 'You're nobody till they think you're gay,' " he began, explaining another rumor that he subsequently denied. "I'm adding this to that. Now that Karrine Steffans has claimed me, I guess I've officially arrived. I've made the second book, cool."

Comment: Rapper Busta Rhymes once proposed to Hot-97 FM radio host Tarsha Jones in the sack. "With Busta, it was only sex," Jones writes in her tell-all "Have You Met Miss Jones? The Life and Loves of Radio's Most Controversial Diva" (Ballantine). "I learned not to trust a proposal of marriage made in bed." The rapper gets one great big compliment in the motor-mouthed memoir. "Busta was as gentle as he could be, because he was packing," Jones writes. "Busta's lovemaking was not for the timid or faint of heart." But, Jones adds, "The fact that our lovemaking never lasted too long didn't bother me, because I didn't enjoy his drops of sweat raining down on me." Afterward, "Busta would stroll around the apartment butt-naked, then shower and go into the kitchen and fry an egg sandwich - for himself. I guess I should be grateful. It's not like he didn't offer me a bite." Of the sandwich. Jones goes on to call Beyoncé "barrel-a-d" and says her "acting leaves something to be desired." She then claims that when she first met Beyoncé's fiancé, Jay-Z, "he turns and stares at my %*$" and made a sexual remark. There's plenty of drama, too. When Jones lived in the same apartment building as the Notorious B.I.G., his lover Lil' Kim begged Jones to let her in to confront the rapper's wife, Faith Evans, she claims. When Russell Simmons comes on her radio show, she writes, "he launches into a blistering 10-minute promotion of 26 products he's created in the last two days." Rival deejay Wendy Williams is, of course, not spared. "After all of her years in radio, [she] has not elevated above curb level in terms of paving the way for other women in radio. Disappointing." And when Mary J. Blige fell onstage during Hot-97's Summer Jam last year, Jones was glad, because Blige forgot to thank her at the mike. "Karma is a %*$!(," Jones writes in the book, which she'll sign at Borders on Columbus Circle next Wednesday night.

Comment: Apple Inc. may introduce a model of its iPhone this year that is 50 percent cheaper than the handsets that went on sale in the U.S. last month, JPMorgan Chase & Co. analyst Kevin Chang said. The new model, based on Apple's thin iPod Nano, may cost less than $300, Chang said today by telephone from Taipei, citing a patent Apple filed in the U.S. and components suppliers he declined to identify. Apple began sales of two iPhone models priced at $499 and $599 on June 29. A lower-priced iPhone may win customers away from rivals Nokia Oyj and Motorola Inc., with Chang estimating Apple may ship as many as 40 million units of the new handset in the fiscal year ending September 2008. Cupertino, California-based Apple will probably sell the new phone with several wireless carriers, unlike the five-year exclusive agreement it has with AT&T Inc. for the current iPhone, Chang said. "We'll see this new iPhone having a noticeable impact on the handset market," Chang said. The new model may be introduced as early as the fourth quarter, he said. Jill Tan, a Hong Kong-based spokeswoman for Apple, declined to comment on the report. JPMorgan analyst Bill Shope in New York, who covers Apple, cautioned investors about Chang's predictions. "The potential for a low-end, subsidized phone from Apple seems unlikely in the near term," Shope wrote in a separate report today. "Perhaps Apple will choose to eventually replace its iPod family with phones over time, but it could be premature to assume this will happen in volume any time soon." Apple may release the next version of the iPhone in the first half of next year, Shope said. It will still be "high- priced" and support so-called third-generation networks for connecting to the Internet at faster speeds.

Comment: OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Wayans brothers could soon be headed back to the bargaining table to build a movie studio and theme park after an earlier agreement with the city ended with little progress on the project. An Oakland City Council committee planned Tuesday to consider an exclusive four-month negotiating agreement with a team led by Keenen Ivory Wayans to develop 70 acres on a run-down former Army base. An earlier 18-month agreement with brothers Keenen Ivory, Damon, Shawn and Marlon Wayans expired in May after the team failed to meet most deadlines. City officials said the new agreement will require the developers to meet a series of tight deadlines to ensure the project moves forward. "The biggest concern I have is that it's been a couple of years now," City Council President Ignacio De La Fuente said. "The longer we take, the longer we don't have jobs or tax revenues for the city." Keenen Ivory Wayans met with Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums last month to pitch the project, which would include a movie production studio, business park, retail village and luxury hotel. Developers said it would create more than 1,500 jobs in one of the city's poorest neighborhoods.

Comment: ATLANTA - A state lawmaker on Tuesday asked the Georgia attorney general to investigate a prosecutor's release of an amateur video showing a man who has spent years in prison for child molestation having consensual sex with two teenage girls. Some say the tape is child pornography, while others contend the faces of the girls should have been blocked out to protect their privacy. State Sen. Emanuel Jones, a Democrat, called it "an absolute and utter disgrace" that the tape was being distributed and asked Attorney General Thurbert Baker to investigate. Jones' request had been received, a spokesman for Baker said, declining to comment further. Douglas County District Attorney David McDade contends that under the state's open records law he had no choice but to release the tape, because it was used as evidence in the trial against Genarlow Wilson, who was 17 when it was made. He provided a July 5 letter from the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia backing up his claim. "The law is very clear," McDade said Tuesday. McDade said his office gave copies of the tape to some 35 parties that requested it, including The Associated Press, which received the tape late last month after making an open records request. Seven state lawmakers, several members of the public and numerous members of the media also received the tape. Jones said he never asked for or received the video. The video shows a 2003 New Year's Eve Party at a hotel room. On it, Wilson can be seen receiving oral sex from a 15-year-old girl and having intercourse with a 17-year-old girl. The tape helped put Wilson behind bars, where he is serving a mandatory 10-year sentence on a charge of aggravated child molestation. Although the oral sex with the 15-year-old was consensual, it was a felony under Georgia law at the time. The law has since been changed. Wilson was acquitted of raping the 17-year-old. Portions of the videotape, made by another male partygoer, have been played on television news shows. And it surfaced at the state Capitol during the legislative session this year as the lawmakers considered a bill that would have helped Wilson.

Name: oldschoolbrother
Comment: State Senate President pro tem Eric Johnson was one of the lawmakers who viewed the tape and emerged as a staunch opponent of Wilson's release after doing so. "It kind of makes your skin crawl," Johnson said. "Watching it changed my mind." Karen Baynes, a former juvenile court judge who oversees the child and family policy initiative at the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government, said the distribution could "re-victimize" the girls depicted in the tape all over again. "It concerns me greatly, both for the precedent it sets and for the girls involved," Baynes said. Although the law may permit McDade to release the tape, it is still a crime in some cases to possess it, said Karen Worthington, interim director of Emory University's Barton Child Law and Policy Clinic at Emory Law School. "I think the law is clear that it is a violation of the Georgia statute," Worthington said. Georgia law makes it a crime to possess or distribute child pornography unless there is a legitimate medical, scientific or educational purpose. Whether news reporters or average citizens fall under that protective shield is unclear, Worthington said. Georgia's top court is set to hear an appeal in the Wilson case July 20. A Monroe County judge last month called Wilson's sentence "a grave miscarriage of justice" and ordered him released. Baker appealed, arguing the decision could free some 1,300 child molesters in Georgia prisons. The Georgia Supreme Court rejected an earlier appeal from Wilson, saying that although the law Wilson was convicted under had been changed, it could not be applied retroactively.

Comment: After 10 years of marriage, Arthur Friedman told his wife they needed to spice things up a bit -- that their sex life was too boring, she said. The Northbrook man wanted to begin having sex with other couples and wanted to watch his wife, Natalie, have sex with other men and women, she said. But along the way, Natalie Friedman, 35, wound up falling for one of the men she had sex with in her effort to please her husband, also 35. Arthur Friedman decided that was crossing the line. Friedman sued German Blinov under the state's alienation-of-affection law, claiming the Glenview man stole his wife's love away. Illinois is one of only eight states where such a case can still be filed. They are rarely filed, and when they are, they are usually thrown out. But last week, a Cook County jury heard Friedman's case and awarded him $4,802.87, derived from a formula that considered, in part, her contributions to the household for a period of time. The Friedmans are divorcing. German and his wife, Inessa, have divorced. 'This is stupid' "This guy ruined my life -- he backstabbed me," Friedman said in an interview. "What he did was wrong. And I did what I had to do to get my point across." Arthur Friedman denies he had sex with anyone else, though Natalie Friedman described their trysts in detail -- including four-way sex in a hot tub with Blinov and another woman. "That's what he said would keep our marriage going," she said in an interview. "That was exciting to him. Then he cries about losing his love? When I'm having sex with another person?" Blinov doesn't deny having a relationship with Natalie while she was married but was stunned to learn he could be sued for doing that.

Name: oldschoolbrother
Comment: Natalie Friedman, meanwhile, says it wasn't Blinov who caused her to stop loving her husband -- it was Arthur Friedman himself and the humiliating things he made her do in the name of love. "German was not the cause of this," she said. "I stopped loving Arthur. He made me do all these things. How could he say he loved me? If he'd been such a great husband, wouldn't he protect me instead of making me do these things?" But Friedman convinced jurors Blinov was the cause, though jury foreman Eric Heisig, of Palatine, said "way more than once," the jurors said "this is stupid." "The statute is ridiculous," he said. 'Never about the money' Katharine K. Baker, an associate dean at Chicago Kent School of Law who has written extensively about family law, said few states allow these cases because the laws they're based on are archaic. But even where it's allowed, they're rare because "they assume the main focus of the suit has no decision-making ability. And that's pretty insulting." Friedman had to prove there was love between him and his wife until Blinov took it away. Yet even his own attorney, David Shults, conceded "it's kind of remarkable" that the case wasn't thrown out earlier, as most are. "Oftentimes, it's both people's fault when there's a breakdown in a marriage," Shults said. "There often isn't that one catalyst that we had here." Blinov was no catalyst, said his attorney, Enrico Mirabelli, and "this type of lawsuit is not designed to be a vehicle for vengeance or vindication. Sadly, in this case, it was used for both." But Arthur Friedman said he had no idea his wife was unhappy in their relationship. And when Natalie began working out at the gym owned by Blinov and his now-ex-wife, Arthur says they all quickly became friends. "German was not a pirate of her affections," Mirabelli countered. "Her affections were already adrift." Jurors disagreed, even though Heisig said many of them wanted to give Arthur Friedman nothing -- or just $17.20, the amount they got for each day served. "This case was never about the money," said another of his attorneys, David Nemeroff. "This was about vindicating Arthur for what German did to him and to his family." But Natalie Friedman said hearing dollar values tossed about was "humiliating." "This law allowed him to put a price tag on me," she said. "That hurts more than anything."

I did a quick look up on the web and discovered that another brotha, Beethoven, not only composed a piece for him but also played with him. Great stuff! We are just the most amazing people. Seems like every day i hear about another great Black person whose story was buried in time because whites, not only don't want us to know what a genius people we are, but also they hide stuff because they envy us. Heck, not only did we have much to do with the development of European classical music, but ballet--to a large extent--was 'copied' from a Black dance called the Morisco! No wonder whites have such animus towards us. What's the song, "God bless the children that's got his own". Well heck, they aint hardly got nothin that's why they always trying to take ours. Anyway, thanks again. I am going to put George Bridgetower down on my list to read up on.

Comment: LONDON (July 11) -- Omar bin Laden, the al-Qaida leader's fourth son, has married a British woman he met in Egypt last fall, British media and colleagues said Wednesday. Jane Felix-Browne, 51, of northwest England, was in Egypt for medical treatment of multiple sclerosis, the Times and Sun newspapers reported. She told the newspapers she met the younger bin Laden while riding a horse near Egypt's Great Pyramid. She has three children by a previous marriage. Felix-Browne is hoping to arrange a visa for her 27-year-old husband to visit Britain, but acknowledged it would be difficult. "Because my husband's name is bin Laden he finds it very difficult to travel anywhere," she told The Sun. "I just married the man I fell in love with -- to me he is just Omar," she told The Times. "I hope people will take a step back and think what it is like when they fell in love." "He last saw his father in 2000 when they were both in Afghanistan," she said. "He left his father because he did not feel it was right to fight or to be in an army. Omar was training to be a soldier and he was only 19." Felix-Browne said she has become Omar bin Laden's second wife, and is hoping to arrange a visa for her new husband to visit Britain, but acknowledged it would be difficult. "Because my husband's name is bin Laden he finds it very difficult to travel anywhere," she told The Sun. She divides her time between her homes in northern England and Jedda, Saudi Arabia.

The agency warns in a new release issued today that if confirmed through further testing, the presence of this bacterium could pose a serious health risk. Comment: The hoochies are headed to Orlando for sure :) ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Rashard Lewis formally joined the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, leaving the Seattle SuperSonics after nine seasons when the teams completed a sign-and-trade deal for the high-scoring forward. The Magic sent Seattle a conditional second-round pick, while the SuperSonics earned a trade exception believed to be in the $9 million range. Lewis agreed to terms with the Magic earlier this month, yet no deal could be closed until Wednesday, the first day that the league's free agent moratorium was lifted. The six-year deal - Lewis agreed to a five-year pact, but the sign-and-trade allows an extra year to be worked into the contract - is expected to be worth at least $110 million. "Rashard is a young, athletic forward and a proven scorer in this league," Orlando general manager Otis Smith said. "We feel his skills will be a tremendous addition to our team and we are very excited to have him join the Magic family." Lewis averaged a career-best 22.4 points last season for Seattle, where he spent his first nine years after jumping straight to the NBA from high school and going early in the second round of the 1998 draft. He's averaged more than 20 points in each of the last three seasons, and is the SuperSonics' all-time leader in 3-point field goals with 973. Lewis' acquisition is the first formal move in what could be a busy week for the Magic, who reportedly plan to announce an $85 million, five-year extension with All-Star center Dwight Howard on Thursday.

Comment: wassup yall!!! living in the bay area.... Man Charged With Birthday Celebration Fatal Stabbing Of Wife POSTED: 3:12 pm PDT July 10, 2007 OAKLAND -- A convicted murderer and rapist was charged Tuesday with special circumstances murder for allegedly celebrating his 55th birthday on Sunday by stabbing his wife to death and also stabbing her sister and her sister's son. Jesus Jihad, 55, was scheduled to be arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court. Assistant District Attorney Tom Rogers said Jihad is charged with one count of murder for allegedly stabbing his wife, 35-year-old Aisha Hendricks 10 times and two counts of %*$ault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing her sister Emma Bowers, and Bowers' 17-year-old son DeAnthony. Rogers said he also charged Jihad with the special circumstance of multiple murder because Jihad was convicted in 1974 of murdering a man in Alameda in 1973. In addition, Jihad was convicted of rape and forcible oral copulation for a 1993 attack in Berkeley, Rogers said. Jihad could face the death penalty if he's convicted of special circumstances murder. Rogers said witnesses say that Jihad laughed and smiled as he stabbed Hendricks several times shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the apartment they shared in the 2300 block of 92nd Avenue. The prosecutor said Jihad is accused of then going to a downstairs apartment where he stabbed Bowers at least three times. When Hendricks yelled at him to stop stabbing Bowers, Jihad then stabbed Hendricks some more, Rogers said. He said Jihad stabbed Hendricks a total of 10 times. Rogers said Bowers' son came back to the apartment complex when someone told him his mother was being attacked but Jihad then stabbed him in the face. He said Bowers and her son have been treated for their wounds and are expected to survive.

Comment: rayne, when I talk to people about working with their own hair, be it permed or natural, I get the "You can't talk. You got good hair." speech. I haven't seen too many weaves that look natural or attractive, so I think if you can't afford to get the quality stuff, just learn to work with what you have. Some of these women spend as much as $400-$500 every 1 to 2 months just on their hair. That's $5-$10K every year on hair care alone. That's the downpayment for a house.

Name: OSUN
Comment: I will be getting a weave for the first time in my life the first week in September. I am getting this to grow my perm out. I have been investigating and I am willing to spend a nice penny so that my hair doesn't look ridiculous. I think one problem is that some women use synthetic hair and hair textures that could in no way be construed as their natural textures. I have seen some pretty bad quick weaves also.

Comment: Osun, weaves can look natural looking but you need a good stylist(not your little cousin during hair on the front porch) and some quality hair. jThose $10 bags of hair isn't going to work. My stylist wear weaves alot. She usually has sew-in weave. Her hair is always fly and it doesn't look fake. She uses natural hair. She always recommends a person on the type of hair to get and will quickly call you out if you bring some cheap azz hair to her. Quick weaves are cute too. You getting a quick weave?

Name: cuteleggs

Also it will not be hanging down my back, maybe just a tad bit longer than my hair is now. I am already a constant visitor to the salon and I want to make sure my hair doesn't get damaged or lock up. My hair is @ shoulder length but I am hoping it will take just a year then back to my natural hair. I have been anti weave most of my adult life, but I am crossing the weave line for the next year or so.

Comment: OSUN>> Yea I'm done with the cleanse but why was I considering doing it again so I can be in a size 6 for Caribana? Umm yea if you do the salt water cleanse. I say get up 2 hours early just in case. It aint nothing nice trust me. I don't know if you can eat veggies and what not. If you want it to work and work fast I would suggest you do it exactly as it says. I didn't use the salt water until the last 2 days and I still lost weight so you may want to skip it. Let me know how this goes for you. RE: Weaves. I stay with a sew in and I think mine looks pretty natural. It matches what my own hair looks like with a perm. I don't get that riddiculous silky shiny hair and I can't believe anyone would put synthetic in their hair with the exception of teenagers cause they don't usually have the money for the good stuff. It looks sooo fake.

You are going from drinking 100-200 calories a day with that syrup/lemon/cayenne/water concoction to eating normal again, so it will come back. Trust me, I lost 9 lbs on it, and gained it back pretty quickly. OSUN> if you want a quick fix to losing weight in a pinch, go on and try it. The wealthier areas (i.e. white) spent less on the lottery, and had more kids in college on HOPE. It was the opposite in the poorer areas (i.e. Black). So, poor Black folks are spending beaucous (sp?) money to send rich white children to college. This is soooo sad.
