Comment: Those Vick fans in Atlanta are craa-zee. People as still supporting and following him like he is a religion. They will go down with the ship with him. Looking foolish all the way until he goes to prison. It is interesting how someone choose and hold on to role models. Re-evaluating someones charater is not an option for those die hard Vick fans.

Name: nightshift
Comment: Not being a dog lover, I still find this disgusting. What's shameful is that he'd have gotten less time had he brutalized a woman or a child.

Name: fanteeking
Comment: Yaw gottabe crazy, if yaw think Vick will spend one minute behind bars! Hey yaw, this is Amerikkka! Vick has a multi-million dollar contract and generates millions of TV and endorsement revenues every season! Deals have already been made to spare him a prison sentence if he offers a tearful reply on BET and gets a photo op in front of Dr. King's church in Birmingham. In Amerikkka, high profile celebrities don't do prison, they do penitence. He's laughing all the way to the bank and tryin' figure out how to %*$asinate, elotrocute or drown the next unfortunate bow-wow who loses the dog fighting contest. Just because you got money don't mean you gotta a conscience....look at George Bushit!

Comment: Fanteeking: Sadly and honestly your statements are all too true.

Comment: As someone who lives in the A'I find that there are two camps when it comes to Vick, there are those who are dissapointed, and regret this has happened to him,and there are those who feel he has brought it upon himself, personally I hope that his life can be better from here on out because his plunge has been swift. As to whether or not he does time I will be surprised if he does none, there are people who have done worse, but then again they seem to wear teflon, along with the power and influence they possess

Name: TGen
Comment: g888, I'm in the former group you mention. I'm sooo disappointed, still in shock really. It seems just yesterday we (Falcon fans) were talking about how he would perform this season, if this season with the new coach would be his (and teh team's) breakout season. I mean, really, this is like a whirlwind. Whew. At any rate, I think it's important to note what he is [supposedly] pleading guilty to. If you notice, the plea does not include any of the brutal stuff directly...he's just pleading guilty to funding the operation. Essentially, his lawyers can argue that he gave his friends/family money and trusted them to invest it how they felt best. I know it's a stretch, but in law it's important to look at what's not stated as much as what is...and the brutality stuff (the stuff that brings about the emotion and in turn longer sentencing) is not stated. Hmmm...

Name: TGen
Comment: Also, as a cherry on top, some redneck Virginia cop decided to twist the knife and give Vick a bootleg ticket for not wearing a seatbelt as a passenger the other day (maybe yesterday I'm not sure). I mean how random is that? How often does a police give a ticket for something like that? lol Not unless he's trying to be an azzhole. SMH at Virginia cops...I never liked them. Yuck

Name: robijoa
Comment: What really shocked me is the fact the him and his crew built a "RAPE STAND" for female dogs who didn't cooperate with male dogs, allowing the male dogs to get it doggystyle. I still can't believe that.

Comment: Good!!! Now we know he has a back bone.

Name: khufu
Comment: Gotta weigh in...yep, I agree...the committment that his Black fans are showing...LOL..these same people would not protest any real significant social or political cause...that's folks in Georgia for you! Some time ago there were those 2 lil Black young men who were on trial for putting a puppy in the oven and I dont recall any protest by Black folks here (Atlanta).......a damn shame!

Name: khufu
Comment: What the "fans" are really really interested in? They want Vick to be able to play ball! damn damn shame

Name: khufu
Comment: you know what's sad (well one of the things): you can give a person 150 million dollars but if they have no sense of identity or real purpose....they will be a misguided person with 150 million dollars (I am be nice of course)....i refuse to use the N word...........and this speaks to a generation in the Black community.......this is how most Black celebs in between 18 and 30 are living...wrecklessly and without any real purpose and direction except to have money, play, sex, flaunt & party....

Comment: Michael, Michael, Michael...we hardly knew ye! Say it isn't so! Really though, you fugg up, you get it together OR you fugg up, and stay down. ROBIJOA, I sensed something freaky in that comment, not to cast dispersion or anything. But really, how could a dog get it any other way than doggystyle, for one? And as for the "rape stand," well, as a farmer, I can tell you that you want select animals to breed with select animals for the sake of big, healthy, virile, robust MARKETABLE animals. And as vile as the concept of a rape stand seems, all of that goes out the window when you're promulgating a species based on creating "the strongest." I'm not justifying it, but as a breeder, I do understand it. KHUFU: A fool is a fool is a fool...and we just keep cranking 'em out here in the home of the brave, the land of the free...and apparently immature. SOUTHERNBELLE: As a Saints fan, all I can say is good kicking the Falcons when they're down...LOL!!!

Name: michaelollieclayton
Comment: TGEN: May heaps of adminstrative flack forever fall on the Virginia cops head. And nothing personal, regarding my comments to Southernbelle about kicking YOUR Falcons when they're down...you'll have to forgive me, but it was in offered in the heat of the moment. Feel me? Y'all "A folks" be gettin' in our "playoff way" sometimes...lotta' times, damn it.

Name: DoctorSmooth
Comment: What kills me, is how the State of Virginia is looking to jump on the bandwagon too. The state's Attorney General said on Friday that they will (not might, but WILL) prosecute Vick on state charges for the same crime. On the charges he'll face there he could get up to 40 years. 40 years over dogs? Why? He's already going to do Federal time and pay a fine. Why prosecute him again for the same crime? Just because it's a high profile case? I'm not one to always play the race card, but I cant help but wonder if Virginia would be looking to handle this situation the same way if it was, lets say, Tom Brady, or Peyton Manning in this same situation , knowwhatImean?

Name: DoctorSmooth
Comment: I feel like what Mike did is wrong, and he should serve jail time. But its crazy to think that there isn't a racial undertone to this. I listen to talk radio down here in Atlanta every day, and its very obvious, listening to what people are saying down here. A lot of the support ,or resentment, of Vick is coming down along racial lines. My thing is , PETA had protests in NY, Atlanta, and Virgina to scream about Michael Vick's offenses. How come when white athletes get arrested for domestic abuse, you never see women's rights groups protesting and trying to raise attention to that issue? You mean to tell me that "white America" is more outraged by dogfighting than wife-beating? Hmmmm.

Name: blackdiamondleo
Comment: I know everyone is innocent until proven otherwise, but I said from day one he was guilty. How could he not know what was going on on his own properety. Especially something that huge. please!

Name: bigfriend
Comment: "I will clear my name!" Remember him saying that? My azz! I knew that there had to be something there for them (government) to even begin proceedings on this case. And some tried to say that it was about race. Some always want to blame race not facts. The fact was it was about animal cruelty and a man that would not take responsibility and the people who stood by him just because he is a "star". He should have just admitted it in the first place. And now he is sorry? Please. He is only sorry because he cannot get out of being convicted. He would still be claiming his innocence if the other defendants did not roll on him. He is a sad case and I hope they punish him to the full extent of the law. And I hope others realize from this case that animal cruelty in all forms is horrible.

Name: PRDC
Comment: When will we ever learn.....I don't think he should do time for that particular crime but should give PETA money to save face. You get tired of these young black men that have everything to start a good life anf they continue to be stupid. Now I know he knows who his friends are. After this, it will be nothing they could tell me. They ratted on him..I have a pet dog and it hurted to see those dogs fighting but that's what dogs do. If he didn't have money we would have never heard about this. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a set up because they don't want to pay this young black man all of this money and got people to do just what they are doing. They could have easily said that they breed dogs there,, but to get all into how they are killed...sounds very strange to me. Vick will be alright, just do what you have to do.....

Comment: I have a question. I saw a blurb on news this weekend about a bust of a dog fighting ring in New Jersey. I see those from time to time about the busts, but since celebrities are not involved you never hear about the end result. Exactly how much time do someone normally gets for running a dog fighting ring?

Comment: Everyone, PLEASE READ the story on this site about the cartoon in the newspaper regarding "hip-hop & the no-snitch policy". It'll have you shaking your head in disbelief.

Name: MissE
Comment: Dr. Smooth, to answer your question, have you ever noticed the difference in the way most white folks and most black folks treat their pets, dogs in particular? Most of time our dogs are outside in the back yard and chained up. Most white people keep their dogs in the house, they lay in the bed with them, sleep with them, hug and kiss them all in the mouth, they treat them like human beings. They answer to your question is YES!

Name: TGen
Comment: Someone pointed out to me something. Remember this story had been a blurb a while back but went away. It didn't come back til AFTER Vick came out, shaved his braids off, and vowed to change his life and get better people around him. Looks like he tried to kick these losers in his household to the curb and that's when they decided to start "barking" (lol). Interesting...

Name: TMan
Comment: The man was getting paid $130 Million Dollars over 10 years and in the prime position of not only being the quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons but being even more of a rarity, a black quaterback in the NFL and how does he uses his downtime? Dogfights? In your own mansion? Orghanized complete with gambling, betting and disposing of the dogs after you're finished with them? In the words of the celebrity gossip columnist formerly known as Huggie Lowdown now heard on Tom Joyner - "Michael Vick, you are the Bama of the Week, Week, Week!"

Comment: ChocolateBrownGa1: That IS something! People are followin' this guy like he's the messiah! Like, he can do no wrong cos he can play with a football and has some money. Some of the comments I've seen on this subject are mind-boggling. Folks sayin' they'd have kept their mouths shut if Vick was takin' care of them the way he was takin' care of his boys (until he was ready to send his 'em the river, I guess.) Comment: Hopefully the jail time will allow Vick to raise his intellect from that of a ten-year-old to at least the level of a teenager. I would go so far as to say that Vick may be mildly retarded. Anyhow, maybe he can salvage what may be left of his career when (or if) he's allowed to return to the NFL in 2009.

Name: SpecialK
Comment: Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, duuuuuuumb!! He should have never lied from the beginning because now he really looks the fool and very guilty. From what I understand they (gubment) had enough evidence to give him serious time which is why he took the plea agreement. Trust me if I had $130 million my hobbies would include shopping, luxury trips, etc., not dogfighting. Stupid is as stupid does and now he must face the consequences.

Comment: I know what Mike did was wrong and he should serve the time they give him, but someone made a good point to me...What is the difference between dogfighting and hunting?

Name: Fran
Comment: I feel for Vick. I really do. Who would have thought that they treat dogfighting worse than attacks on humans. I cant stand Peta. I am sure they screw the dogs as well. But to Vick, I will just say next time do the white man's kill sport, go hunting instead, same thrill just that YT says that type of killing and animal brutality is legal.

Name: TGen
Comment: Bootaneous, you make great points. DCDouglas, "mildly retarded?" That's kinda harsh, don'tchathink? Way out of line. IMO He's most guilty of not being able to say no to his triflin "friends." I'm azzuming they were the ones who spearheaded the "BadNewsKennel" ish cuz I just refuse to believe Vick with all the pressure he was under to perform for the Falcons could have time to sit and concoct some crap like a dogfighting ring, lol. Btw, this dogfighting issue has raised the comparison of leisure hunting and I think it's a fair comparison. I think that parallel should be fleshed out a little more. To me it takes the same sinister spirit that can create a rape stand to pick up a rifle and shoot a bear or something just for kicks. Something's wrong with all of it...

Name: gingerg
Comment: I don't like dogs, period, but this is too much. How the he11 do you mess up a $130 million contract over some dogfighting of all things? And didn't his partners have rap sheets a mile long? How ignorant can one be?

Comment: Michael Vick is history now, and as a Falcons season ticket holder, my only concern is that we win football games. I was TOO through when DJ Shockley blew his knee out Friday nighjt. SOUTHERNBELLE AND MICHAELOLLIE- Even though it looks mighty grim for Falcons fans right now, I'm going to keep hope alive! LOL!!!! Maybe we can trade for somebody, ANYBODY, to play QB because Harrington does not look good and Redman is useless. Oh, Lawd, what us gon' do? LOL!!!!

Name: DoctorSmooth
Comment: Yeah, SOUTHERNBELLE... this makes it a little bit easier for the Saints. I'm looking for them to beat the Bears in the NFC championship and face the Pats or Chargers in the Super Bowl. Thats my early prediction anyway.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: While they're messing with Vick, I read on Perez Hilton yesterday that a Llama, while in the process of trying to sex a 60 year old woman, killed her. I don't see no one protesting Llamas. If we give these animals an inch we'll end up on the bottom of the food chain.

Name: GHank
Comment: DOne>>>>In New Jersey, a dog fighting charge is a 3rd degree offense. If you are found guilty of a 3rd degree offense, the range of penality is from probation up to 5 years in prison. You can also get probationary sentences that may include jail time up almost 1 year.

Name: Closet_Nerd_Girl
Comment: >6footah and TGen- I understand your line of thinking when comparing hunting to dog-fighting. I'm not a fan of hunting at all, but here are the differences I am aware of. 1. The obvious one is that hunting is legal, and you must be licensed to do it. 2. Animals that are hunted live in the wild, and hunting is a form of population control. I believe in some states there's a limit to how much you can hunt particular animals. Hunters are also limited by the season as to which animals to hunt. 3. In many cases, hunted animals are used for food. (My grandfather used to hunt deer, and I have to admit that venison is DELICIOUS when prepared correctly.) Domestic animals, like dogs, aren't used for food (at least not in the US, but I don't eat meat at ANY Asian restraunt just to be on the safe side *snicker*). 4. Killing is killing, but with hunting the animal is shot and dies a quick, relatively painless death. With dog-fighting, animals fight to the death, and there is tremendous suffering involved. And if the losing or "poor performing" dogs are put to death other than by a quick shot to the head, well, that's downright sadistic. With that said, I still don't like hunting, but until it is made illegal, it is fruitless to compare it to dogfighting.

Name: TGen
Comment: ClosetNerdGirl, very thoughtful response. But part of me feels like saying "You say ToMAto, I say TomaTO." lol At its base, when referring to leisure hunting (i.e. not for food), it still amounts to animals being killed for non-defense reasons. One can try to divide murder into categories or whatever, but at the end of the day...well you know the rest... I still say, it's a valid comparison and using the "One's legal, one's not" defense amounts to the "It is just because" logic, lol. Does not fly...

Name: Closet_Nerd_Girl
Comment: >TGEn I'm with you on the leisure hunting thing. I think it's terrible to cut down a buck in his prime just so you can have his head displayed in your den. (But if you eat the rest of him, then it's all good LOL!!!) I know there's something still not quite right with hunting for sport even though it is legal, but, it is what it is.

Name: DoctorSmooth
Comment: I have to agree on that, TGEN. Killing an animal should never be done for sport. For food yes, for self defense, of course. but for sport? Barbaric.

Name: Fran
Comment: I agree totally with TGen. Closet-Nerd-Girl, you forgot the main difference between hunting and dog fighting.....Rich YT loves hunting. Dont forget that point okay because that is really why it is legal.

Name: KILLERMEG
Comment: Regardless of what happens he should do no jail time. A fine and probation should be enough. If he wasnt a high-paid BLACK athlete he would get a slap on the wrist.

Name: dcdouglass01
Comment: Alright TGen, I'll retract my statement that Vick may be mildly retarded. But he is extremely stupid, wouldn't you say? As far as the question of what is more cruel: humans killing animals for sport, i.e., hunting; or humans allowing animals to kill each other for sport, there obviously is some hyprocisy there. But in Vick's case, we're talking about dogs---"man's best friend." And in American society, dogs have taken on an almost human persona and are considered one of the family. Hence the outrage (although I still believe there are some racist elements are at play here as well).

Name: Closet_Nerd_Girl
Comment: >Fran- you are correct, white people love to hunt. But, quiet as it's kept, plenty of black people love to hunt too. And in some remote areas of the rural landscape, that's how some black people eat. I was in college in Lousiana, I knew a dude who's grandmother made possum stew. He claimed it was delicious, but I took his word for it....

Name: Closet_Nerd_Girl

Name: BlkATLTop
Comment: Fran, I guess my uncles, cousins and Ray-Ray n-em are rich too because they all love to hunt.

Name: Kulchaman
Comment: if Mike do any jail time i think it will be wrong, the plea is to soothe the prosecutors, judge, feds, etc.. so they will show cut back on whatever the punishment might be. I also believe its being hyped because he's Micke Vick with highest paid QB salary in the league, not to mentioned all the endorsement, it's was a crime committed & being a Black athlete with the young swagger bring bias to you regardless. I wish hime the best of luck & best outcome in this situation. Someone made the comment of how stupid, childish, etc..he's far from that, unless you know the man,how can you make those comments ? Also, black celeb between age 18-30 are not living like we do not have any morals, you can't speak for all blacks within that age group.

Name: mrseoliver
Comment: This is a sad sad story, not only b/c of the fact that he played a part in brutally killing animals b/c they may have lost a dog fight, but also b/c Mike Vick is one of the most STUPIDEST people I have ever seen in my entire life. No one may agree and it's fine. I use to think that it was a black/ white issue, but I can't say that I completly believe that now. (I am saying race doesn't play a part in it but... ) People that are celebs should realize once they get to that status "in the eyes of the media" they are no longer ordinary people. Cameras are always rolling and people are always watching. And they also need to realize b/c they are celebs that they can not get away with everything anymore. You can't walk through the airport w/ guns. You can't be on a stop snitchin video, you can't run somebody down in a car and say "the black kid did it." You can't shoot people and speed away in your Escalade truck. For Vick to "throw" away endorsments and a contract worth millions b/c of stupid a$$ dog fights??? I broke down the numbers and he makes $500,000 every two weeks. How many people can say that?? NOT ME HELL NO!! That's more money that I have made in the 16 years that I have been working thus far. And to throw that away and possibly go to jail?? I can't understand & I probably will never understand.

So they wont be doing any jail time, at least for that anyway. YT will trip one of them up on something else, that they just dont do.

Comment: It's a sad situation. I empathize with Mike. But I also believe that he brought this on himself, even if he wasn't as involved as the Federal Prosecutors are going to make him admit. It's silly to own a house where this kind of nonsense is going on and you are such a high profile person. It sounds like something someone does when they haven't quite "grown up." Despite my empathy for him, a question in my mind burns for an answer: would you want to be Mike Vick's neighbor knowing that he had that shat going on next door? Would you want your two daughters near that foolishness? To those questions I can't help but answer "No."

Name: RealGAPeach
Comment: My 2.5 cents= I don't think this incident should be career ending or that he should serve jail time. While the things done are reprehensible, wife beating should carry more of a stigmatism than dog-fighting. Money doesn't make a person make wise decision. Even though he was old enough to know better, his choice of associate are the real culprits. The bible doesn't lie: Do not be misled BAD ASSOCIATION spoils useful habits and he that is walking with stupid ones will fare badly. When I see Vick, I often compare him to my oldest son... who this summer did something so foolish that every time I look at him, I just can't believe that he did it. Likewise, he had CHOSE to associate with individual and felt the need to be LIKE them. In our own way, we all assimilate with those whom we associate. on the other hand.. I so wish they would get this fag that keeps morphing off the board. He looks so nasty!

Comment: 3000+ American soldiers dead in Iraq, Inner City murders a plenty. A war criminal in The whitehouse. "Scooter" Libby set free etc. and America is more concerned with the lives of pit bulls. They value dogs more than they do people. Fucc dat!

Name: oldschoolbrother
Comment: My only comment after reading this mess for the past few months is this. IMO, this is not racist. There are a few idiots who love to participate in pit bull fighting, making it rain in strip clubs, take guns to nightclubs and smoke weed. Just a few but those fools make it bad for everyone else that do great things in the community or just live a drama free life. I know someone who lived next to Tank Johnson (the former Bear who was released) and this idiot had pit bulls running loose in his yard and kids would be outside playing. Granted this was the burbs where typically you can let a 6 year old loose and play. But when you have a 300k home, you expect to just be able to jog, enjoy the weather. Not have to worry about some 6 5 330 black man firing off some shots from a rifle and wondering if a pitbull or two will chase you as you are jogging or playing catch with your kid. That is where I draw the line about feeling sorry for Vick or any other dummy in this scenario. I do not judge, but he is a idiot for throwing all of this away. He had a rape stand in his house, think about that before you cry racism or compare this to legalized hunting. Would you want your kids to visit someone that has a rape stand in their basement?

Name: KILLERMEG
Comment: TGen-I agree. I believe he bankrolled the weak-azz LOSING dog fighting operation. I dont believe he had time to be physically involved either. Like someone said now he knows who his friends are. They are just as dumb because now when they need cash, Vic wont be a number they can call!

Comment: Musbdherbs, exactly right: What fuggin boys? Ship jumpin' rats! Speaking of llamas, I read a couple of days ago where a man was having sex with a horse and had to be rushed to hospital. When they got there he was already dead. Seems the big dyck perforated his colon. That's what you get for being in the neighborhood, um, make that "stable." And as for violence visited on animals, how would you like to swim up to something that looks like dinner, bite it, only to discover that it was camouflage for a big shiny, sharp-azz hook? Next thing you know you're being drug against your will, against the current by the jaws, only to be snatched up in the air, shown off to some human monsters while you're gasping for oxygen, then, finally, tossed back into the water because the event was MERELY recreational?

Comment: Many Vick "apologists" focus on the fact that these dog were bred to fight, saying that's "just what they do". But that's not the full extent of the heinousness of a dogfighting operation. How do you think these dogs are tested and trained in the first place? They place other animals, often stolen housepets, in the ring with them, mouths taped shut, to be mauled & torn apart by the pit bulls. This sport is nothing but bloodthirsty, and only a sadist could be part of it.

Comment: I agree with TGen. he is guilty of trying to bring the hood with him, IMO. His friends were prolly the ones running the dogfights. I also do see a racial undertone here - with the OUTRAGEOUS coverage this story is getting. Ahh well....now, let's see how many folks commented on the "no snitching" cartoon...lemme just click over to see 145 comments...

Comment: Killermeg> yeah a llama, what a terrible way to go. DoctorSmooth>Wear your shirt with pride. Vick the ball player has nothing to do with Vick the dog fighter.

Comment: Think I'll start work on a screen play: The Rise and Fall of Michael Vick.

Comment: Southernbelle> I thought about the Saints two games this season with the Falcon. I know I should care about a another black man going to jail but don't. I worry about my cousin who probably can't find a job when he does his time not Vick. He was stupid and I don't feel sorry for anyone who has had the chances he has had and ended up in jail. I just hope the Saints can finally win the SuperBowl.

Comment: He's not guilty of trying to bring the hood with him; he's guilty of bringing ignorance with him; most folk in the hood are not involved in illegal activities. People need to stop using the "hood" excuse as justification for the ignorance of a few.

Comment: Fo' real dough...how many of yall/us, if given 150 dollars and fame, would still engage in some behavior that was detrimental? His was dogs....how about sex? Drugs? The larger issue is: here was a Black person, who had no sense of self or community, who was given a lot of money and fame...was the money and fame supposed to be appropriate substitution for self-identity, purpose of life and self-awareness.........?

Name: khufu
Comment: that's 150 million dollars

Name: khufu
Comment: yeah that "hood" mentality and sub-culture has to be eradicated.....

Name: Train
Comment: If Michael Vick wants to know who is responsible for his present situation all he has to do is look in the mirror. Regardless of what race you are you have to take responsibility for your actions.

Name: khufu
Comment: Yeah but certain ignorance is breeded by social conditions and conditioning.....

Name: khufu
Comment: and socialization...Vick represents the majority of Black folks.....it's like the lotto winners who win 100 mill and then go out and buy 25 cars and lose all the money...or even Issac Hayes back in the day when he spent all his money on gold plated cars and went bankrupt.....it's the ghetto mentality.........an extension of the plantation conditioning

Name: DOne
Comment: > Khufu is that a ghetto mentality or is it a "never had anything, and don't know how to act mentality" because give poor whites 100mill they do the exact same thing.

Comment: Just when you thought that the last game ended it all in the prison yard we now have "The Longest Yard Part II" starring Ron Mexico, Rae Curruth, Tank Johnson and Leonard Little coming to a cinema this friday.

Comment: khufu: Vick does not represent a majority of black people. Where did you get that from?

Comment: For the purposes of my screenplay, one of the critical turns would be the convincing of Vick to get involved in the dog game. Here's a theoretical phone conversation between Vick and Quanis soon after Vick signs with the Falcons. Quanis: Mike! What up n*gga! Vick: Hey Q. What's up? Q: You n*gga! You what's up! Man, do you know who you are now? Do you know who you are? Vick: (laughs) Who am I? Q: The baddest n*gga on the planet. Vick: Naw man, not me. Just a squirrel who happened to get a big nut. Q: A d*amn big nut. So when you getting back up this way? You know we gots to hook up. V: I'll be back up late next week. Q: Just let me know, man. We can roll a little bit in whatever bad azz ride you got, f*ck with some females. V: We can do that. Q: Got a business proposition for you too. V: What's that? Q: We can talk bout it when I see you. V: Naw, what you thinkin' 'bout? Q: You remember them little fights we went to a couple a times last fall. V: Little fights? Q: Yeah, with the pits. V: Those dog fights? N*gga is you crazy!? Q: Naw man, listen...just something to have a little fun and make a little money on the side. V: That sh*t's illegal, man. Q: So is going 56 in a 55. Ain't nobody paying attention to this. Er'body looking around for the next 9-11 and don't give a d*mn about a couple a dogs fighting. V: I don’t know, Q. Q: You got yours brother. You got yours for life. But this would be something me and P could do to generate a little income. V: Q, that's crazy, man. Q: Mike, you ain't even got to be involved. Just front us a little bit, and we'll take it from there.

Comment: SpecialK..the masses of Black folks are like Michael Vick..while the masses not not engage in criminal activity, most if granted sudden wealth would engage in activities they engaged in prior to achieving wealth that would be considered counter to the high culture (bourgeoisie)expectations associated with those who have wealth... most would not change their lifestyles but seek to enlarge or enhance the lifestyles they had prior to obtaining wealth.......Let me try to quantify most...let's say 67%.....of that 67% most would continue to engage in some activity that would either be Unethical, immoral and/or criminal....let me explain:

Name: khufu
Comment: That 67%...if they became wealthy, they would buy material things first and primarily and not invest their wealth...they would not seek to empower positive community initiatives but "Hook up" their own circle of people..their own lil communities....most would not engage in philanthropic initiatives.....they would probably give their church s a large sum of cash..but would not create truly philanthropic initiatives...

Name: khufu
Comment: Okay most of the men in that 67% would give bigger tips at the strip clubs and increase the number of strip clubs they attend....more wealth would make them bigger womanizers.....most would look to start a record label for rap music that glorify negative rap music...most would throw bigger parties.....

Name: khufu
Comment: It is a mentality...a consciousness permeating Black folks....see once ghetto became cool there was no longer any reason to change once you achieved wealth or a higher standard of living......and that higher standard has nothing to do with being Caucasian...it has to do with being high cultured.....and we were high-cultured before Yt came on the scene....

Name: mrseoliver
Comment: Althought I don't agree with Vick representing most black people I can agree with khufu re: socialization among blacks. Not everyone, but there are those whom have money but uses it in what I call the "incorrect way" For instance not all rappers, some of the rappers out here have nice homes, 3 + cars, and have $100k (give or take) the their mouth, on their wrist, or on their necks. Not saying having possession are not nice, but can they say they really have 'money in the bank?'that is their and not on credit card that has a 22.9% interest rate? Can they say that they have invested in property, or some sort of business venture that will increase profits? Alot of them probably can't say that. Unfortunately, some of us had not been taught from youth the importance of saving money, spending wisely, and investing properly. So as we become adults you look at superficial things like alot of jewelry, extremely expensive clothes, a big fancy car as important. It really doesn't matter that you are 40 still living in your momma's basement the most important thing is that you are "fresh and fly." It's sad, but hopefully one day we will wake up.

Comment: "KILLERMEG Comment: Regardless of what happens he should do no jail time. A fine and probation should be enough. If he wasnt a high-paid BLACK athlete he would get a slap on the wrist." __________ Uh, the other 3 co-defendants aren't high paid Black athletes either and they're going to jail too, so his fate is no different than those of non-high-paid status.

Name: MorrisOKelly
Comment: And you're reaching if you think a "fine and probation" suffice for the depth of charges involved. This is a federal conspiracy and racketeering case. Not gonna happen and it shouldn't happen.

Name: KILLERMEG
Comment: Morris-yes but the other 3 all have long rap sheets. Vic does not.

Name: KILLERMEG
Comment: He has all that money to pay good attorneys so they should be able to negotiate terms that do not include jail time. If not he will have wasted his money yet again. We shall see.

Name: DoctorSmooth
Comment: MEG, true, he has no prior record, but he is the one whose money made this all possible. This was a criminal enterprise that he bankrolled! So he's got to go to jail like everyone else. I woulndt recommend more than 9-12 mos though.

Name: MorrisOKelly
Comment: Killermeg... This is a federal case...all the good attorneys in the world won't matter in that regard. You just don't get that type of leverage with the federal government unless you can really give them something. Arguably...Vick IS the prize, so letting him off with probation and a fine in a felony racketeering case is counterintuitive. He IS the big cheese that bankrolled the enterprise. One could argue there's really nobody else of "value" he could offer to the government so letting him off with just probation is of no value to the government and this would have been an exercise in stupidity.

Name: ez3372
Comment: I saw this coming from a mile away. I knew it was a matter of time before his "boys" turned state on him. This goes to show that even if he didn't have a direct hand in the situation and only knew what was going on AND tried to keep his "boys" happy, sometimes you just have to seperate yourself from the boys-n-da-hood. As now Michale can tell, he has a lot more to loose than they EVER will. When you have money and status like that, you can't keep one foot in the hood. Except your blessings and move on. I know that some "famous" people don't want it to seem like they are putting themselves above the people who was with them on their way to the top, but if they are doing things to jeoprodize your lively hood, then you need to cut them off. It's a shame it had to happen like this for Mike.

Name: Beezyuu
Comment: Vick has that look of a person that's disturbed. I don't feel sorry for him or his sorry azz fans. What they should do is put him in a room with about 20 pitbulls and see what happens. Vick is a dumb azz mofo.

Name: tightendsport
Comment: Ok, now they can go after the senators, chiefs of police and other white folks involved on the downlow who need to get their azzes in jail, too. Got Vick as the solo hangman like he was watching the damn dogs fight...all...by...himself.

Name: mat212
Comment: Wow. An observation note (cos' I can't participate in this one) It just seems like whenEVER black people are involved in ANYTHING, the emotion just really gets hiked up a few notches. If Vick had gotten EATEN by dogs....Someone would be saying: "Well why was he there? and "Why wasn't he at football practice?" and of course the ever present: "I mean...come on..." We are still and will always be Public Enemy Number 1. Smart OR dumb. Sagging or clean. Threat threat threat THREAT THREAT!! And yes this has everything to do with Vick and his dogs. This country has always and will forever live through symbolism. You will NEVER convince me that all this emotion is over Michael Dwayne Vick and HIS dogs. NO. This is about rich and race and power. SYMBOLS. And believe it or not...misplaced anger at their own helplessness.
