The insiders all claim that Juanita was upset with her husband's uncomfortably close relationships with a few men in his church...

Comment: I don't care if she was calling him Twinkie at the top of her lungs, as a man, he was out of line making physical contact with her. There is no justification and that theory about provocation with be tossed out of my court room. Women let this be a lesson learned, THE LAST WORD MIGHT JUST BE YOUR LAST WORD. So, when you're mouthing off, think of Juanita Bynum and let a man walk away which I gather what he was attempting to do. >>>But who knows. Maybe Thomas(ina) **giggles** was running to hitch a ride with his lover. We will never know the truth because this world is full of games. >>>Barring religion, that bougoise (sp?) ceremony was a telling sign the marriage was built on a materialistic, shallow, unsecure foundation and thus it was doomed from the outset. >>>The community wants to know what kind of reconciling was taking place at 4am???>>>>Those two "saints" better join hands in prayer and concoct a credible story before a third, fourth, fifth party starts singing louder than a caged bird. >>>Lawd Have Mercy if it isn't one thing it's bound to be another. >>>

Bynum on the other hand will emerge from this as being this anointed (probably the most overused, misused word among blk church folks today)woman. Being the pimpette that she truly is, be on the lookout for new CDs, books and seminars (entitled Single and Beatdown or Single Sassy and Beatdown) coming to a city near you in 2008

We have free will and honestly all of that is the result of human will from the decision to marry a man whose divorce from the first wife was still fresh to her publicist's decision to release photos of the wounds to TMZ.com -- photos her sister took and not the police b/c by their own admission 'Nita left the hospital without letting them take official photos. Comment: Haven't we been warned of "false prophets? Exhibit A. I mean, if you truly have faith [and I'm a faith work in progress myself] you know the battle is not your's, it's the Lords. I mean, it's not a fight between Juanita and Tom, it's a battle of their spirits. Darkness cannot exist with light. You're either light OR dark. What seems to be the case here is that because of their lack of self-control and their inability to turn to Christ to work out their differences, they took maters into their own hands. Now, not only are the two of them being judged, it's Christianity. True followers are human too, but God speaks through the heart. And judging from the smackdown at the Renaissance, God was there, but he wasn't in the fight. He's just trying to get both their attention. YOU ARE NOT WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE. And that's just not a Christian issue. It's a human issue. We must NEVER elevate anyone to the level of idolotry. You can make money, marriage, your check, your man, your kids your idols. God hates idolatry. You may fool 4 billion people but you cannot fool God. This man of God and this woman of God can save others, but they cannot save themselves. False prophets. And remember, if Jesus is there, Satan is there, too. That's why we struggle. That's why you cannot go around violating people and when you do and break the law, you go to jail. Humility is the Order of the day. I continue to say, folk just need to stop lying and fronting. It is what it is. Now look.

Comment: This is the very first commandment, I don't believe it's an accident: And God spoke all these words, saying: 'I am the LORD your God… ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me. I believe that's why some of us get in trouble in life. Looking for love in all the wrong places. As far as I can see, a sista need to check her NEEDS. If you really feel you NEED a husband and nothing's happenin, then you will go with wha'ts available. Call yourself helping God and say "GOD SENT HIM TO ME"; when actually that wasn't God at all. It was the lust which caused the desperation; when you are desperate you're begin to think that what's before you is MEANT for you, even though the orchestra is playing in the background and Spike Lee is directing. But you NEED a husband so you put your blinders and earphones in and proceed. Two years later, it's like WTF? Who are you? I believe Tom was always Tom and Juanita was always Juanita. It's sad, but I repeat, humility is the order of the day. What goes up, must come down. If it has any integrity, it will last. If it doesn't, it will fail and fall. Every time. Who God has put together who no man put asunder. Whom God has put together NOBODY OR NO THING CAN OR WILL COME BETWEEN THEM AND DIVIDE THEM. And those are the couples that last. But God doesn't put all of us together. It's our lusts. It feels so good, we think it's God. These two made a "spectacle" of themselves, now their marriage seems like a "farce". Two fallen people, but they need forgiveness. All you people who put so much trust in people, trust me, it's the message, not the messenger. If we trust the message and not the messenger, our hearts won't be broken and we won't be disappointed when those whom we have believed in has failed us.

Comment: The 10 Commandments -The 10 Commandments are found in the Bible's Old Testament at Exodus, Chapter 20. They were given directly by God to the people of Israel at Mount Sinai after He had delivered them from slavery in Egypt: "And God spoke all these words, saying: 'I am the LORD your God… ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.' TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.' THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.' FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.' FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.' SIX: 'You shall not murder.' SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.' EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.' NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.' TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.' The 10 Commandments - Christ's Summation in the New Testament. About 1,400 years later, the 10 Commandments were summed up in the New Testament at Matthew 22, when Jesus was confronted by the religious "experts" of the day: "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:36-40).**** When you think it, this about covers all the issues we have in life. If those two prophets were living the 10, they'd know mainly that when you love something or someone, you don't intentionally hurt them.

Comment: Didn't get to read all the comments yet, but McNasty yours points out what I found curious about this new article. How can the guy "walk out to the parking lot...and turn back and attack her" if she is NOT in the parking lot also? Did the incident not happen in the parking lot? The only way this makes sense is if Bynum did indeed follow him out there...given that he did in fact walk away from the "dinner." So it seems to me the person who wrote this latest article (which appears to be VERY influenced by Bynum'publicist) has a much more biased angle than did the previous writer...or maybe it's the same person who changed his mind? I don't know...but I what I DO know is this article does not make sense. Anywho, this story is EVERYWHERE and I think that's unfortunate. Hell, I even heard Michael Baisden's show putting out a call for info, lol. Errybody all in these folks' business. She knows that people were concerned about her, so what's wrong with issuing a statement for the benefit of your well-wishers and supporters? That doesn't make her a publicity whore! Good grief. These people usually have a staff member that update their Myspace page for them anyway, so for all we know, she didnt do it herself... she may have just verbally authorized them to put that statement up on her behalf. You're absolutely right about her freedoms, HOWEVER, spin is spin. And a simple statement was not the only thing issued. There were the photos of the wounds and bruises that were released to TMZ and other sources when the police never took the photos of her, a publicist did that. The constant reitterance of the fight being an attack by her camp... She is a publicity hungry sister and has built a fortune on it, but there is a way to use it when you're genuine and a way to use it when you want to get paid... She wants to be paid.

Comment: There are several lessons to be learned in all of this. Two are:
We need to re-examine our standards.
There's an unspoken rule in the community which suggests that black
women should settle for ANY man if it
means that they can get married and
have the validations (official seal of
approval) that comes with being a wife.
Then, you maintain no matter what.
Living a lie will destroy your spirit.
An authentic life is so much better.

Comment: and >>> TSK.. you think her "camp" is wrong to reiterate that she was not "fighting" but was attacked? Get real! Whats wrong with trying to clear your good name if your being publicly mischaracterized as fighting when you were not? Millions of people had read/heard that she was fighting with her husband. A lot of people were saying they were disappointed that she would be "fighting" and provoking her husband etc.. so her "camp" wants to make it clear it was not a fight but an attack. An Atlanta police spokesman also said they consider it to be an attack, not a fight. So whats your issue with that? I think some of you folks are just grasping at straws. Lets wish the woman well, instead of kicking her while she's down. Peace.

Comment: From the AJC: Thomas W. Weeks, the 54-year-old bishop who shares an international ministry with estranged wife Juanita Bynum, surrendered to Atlanta police Friday on charges that he %*$aulted his wife. An initial hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Fulton County Jail. He made no statement when he walked into the jail with an attorney Friday morning. Bynum, a fiery national evangelist whose sermons empower women to walk away from dead-end relationships, was allegedly struck by her husband Tuesday in a hotel parking lot after the pair had dinner together. Police said Bynum, 48, has been whisked away by family as they decide what to do next. A lawyer for Weeks said he will continue his ministry and try to reconcile with his wife after the allegations are dealt with. "He is extremely sad over the events that have taken place," said Edward Garland, one of the two attorneys representing Weeks. "I think there is hope on his part that the relationship can get past these difficult moments. "He has never had any accusation of any sort like this from her or anyone esle," said Garland. "There are a lot of circumstances surrounding these events that will be explained at a later time. He is turning it over to the court system at this point.' Bynum and Weeks are co-founders of Global Destiny Church in Duluth. They were married in 2002 in a lavish televised wedding that featured a 7.76-carat diamond ring. They separated three months ago, said Bynum's sister, Tina Culpepper. According to an Atlanta police incident report, Bynum said her husband "choked her, pushed her down, kicked and stomped her." She told police Weeks "continued stomping" her into the ground until a hotel bell man pulled him away. Police also said Weeks threatened Bynum's life. Culpepper said the couple was meeting for dinner at Concorde Grill in the Renaissance Concourse Hotel near Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Tuesday night. Police said the couple had met to work out their differences. Things soured, and Weeks walked out to the parking lot about 10:30 p.m., police said. He then turned back around and attacked her, said Officer Ron Campbell. Weeks also threatened Bynum's life during the attack, police said. "Anytime you tell a person, 'I'm going to kill you,' that moves it up to a felony," Campbell said.

Comment: From the AJC (cont'd): The bruises found on Bynum also were serious enough to bring felony aggravated %*$ault charges against Weeks. In a comment posted on her MySpace page, the Pentecostal evangelist said, "I am currently recovering from all of my injuries and resting well ... this too shall pass." Her publicist, Amy Malone, said Bynum wants to keep the matter private. "People are interpreting it to mean the two of them were fighting," Malone said. "They were not fighting. She was %*$aulted." Clergy across metro Atlanta said they were saddened by the news of the public beating of Bynum, a respected "prophetess" whose star rose under the leadership of Bishop T.D. Jakes. Bynum is one of the leading speakers at Megafast, which has attracted hundreds of thousands of people to metro Atlanta in recent years. Mixing love and ministerial work can take its toll on relationship for pastors with successful followings, clergy say. "It is tremendously hard to balance a relationship," said the Rev. Cynthia L. Hale, pastor of Ray of Hope Christian Church. "If you happen to be more successful than your spouse or make more money or have greater prestige that is where the challenge comes in. There are many men who are secure in life, but there are also men who are insecure and they have struggled with having their wives [or girlfriends] excel in ways they don't." Weeks has retained two lawyers: the well-known Garland, who in the past has represented NFL star Ray Lewis in his murder trial and millionaire James Sullivan, who ordered the murder of his socialite wife; and Louis Tesser. The couple had a home in Duluth, Culpepper said. Upon their separation, Bynum moved to Waycross, where her administrative offices are located. Members of a Georgia non-profit group, Love for All People, were working late Thursday to hire two bodyguards to protect Bynum. Culpepper said Bynum was appreciative but that it would not be necessary. Word of the public fight spread to clergy across metro Atlanta who have either met the couple or know of them.
Once a homemaker, a hairdresser and a flight attendant, Bynum's big break came when televangelist Bishop T.D. Jakes invited her to speak at one of his conferences several years ago. Jakes, who has worked closely with Bynum, had no comment, his spokeswoman said. Operators at Bynum's ministry in Waycross, Juanita Bynum Ministries, asked the public "to be in prayer for her." Culpepper, Bynum's sister, said she is keeping her sister company through this difficult time. "She is resting well and healing of all the injuries," Culpepper said. "The injuries are not just physical."

ROFL However, I know that her publicist distributed the photos and the information and even does the MySpace page. Geez, I'm a publicist, I know how this works. Allof that aside, Amy Malone, 'Nita's (as she is now known)publicist is an entertainment publicist for some rap chica. So she understands sensationalism. I don't think any of the criticism is (another) kick while she's down, I think it's popular opinion and folks have a right to express their views just as she has a right to have her husband tried and convicted in the media, before it goes to trial. I'm here to tell you that she is going to prosper from this and I'm here to tell you that he's going to drop a dime on her. Watch!

Comment: I'll concede that some may allow their opinion of the lady's personality to taint their view of this situation. But even so, the reality is, the article posted on EUR today does not make sense. In order for someone to turn around and attack someone else, the other person would have to be in the vicinity, correct? It follows that it's highly unlikely the abuser just turned around out of nowhwere and started beating. No, LOGIC dictates that there's more there than Bynum's publicist would like to put forth, i.e. there was at the very least "arguing," and probably "fighting." But all this does not excuse the abuse. The abuser should be dealt with, period. I don't know that I've read anyone say otherwise, so I'm puzzled at posts like yours Snicker. Hmmm...

Comment: Michael Baisden put out an APB on Thomas Weeks on his show yesterday. I'm glad he had enough sense to turn himself in today. He and Juanita both need to step down from their ministerial duties and seek some serious counseling. Not that "do it yourself" counseling either. No one knows what provoked this but he was dead wrong for putting his hands on her, period. He must now pay the consequences for his actions and I think Ms. Bynum needs to step back out of the news and get her act together. God is an awesome God and can heal anything and I hope he heals the both of them. Just because you wanted to marry someone doesn't mean God sent that person to you. Doesn't look like a match made in heaven at all.

Comment: Sorry to burst your bubbles, peeps, but this wasn't about an illicit affair or anything. It was about money, plain and simple. Although I'm not a follower of her teachings, I must admit that Juanita's worked hard to amass the wealth and the recognition that she has in the religious community, and in fact, when Juanita met Weeks, he was broke, busted and probably disgusted. Those close to the Weeks family knows that Thomas III had been struggling financially. So when he and Juanita married, he shared in her wealth. And despite whatever reason caused their marriage to fall apart, at the heart of the matter is money. Think about it. Juanita can walk away from this man (and I seriously hope she does), still get preaching engagements, still write books, still make CDs, and still make her money. But Weeks? He wasn't well known on the national preacher's circuit until they got married. If/when they split, who's going to buy his books? He'll become an instant nobody with no money all over again. There are many things that will make a man turn into a coward and swing on his woman, and one of them is money. And to support the allegations that he walked away from her and she went after him, don't be surprised if/when it comes out later that he tried to pulled a Jonathan Plummer on Juanita and threatened to take her to the cleaners.

Comment: The title prophetess is a mess given the actual use of the title is out of context and the way she and others use it has nothing to do with the way God ordained that gift to be used. It is a manmade title and assignation. The prophets were referred to as prophets but not using Prophet as a salutation. Do you know what most of them had to go thru and what their commissions were? And none of their commissions had anything to do with telling folks for $1000 they will get new wardrobes or their husbands or out of debt. That's lying and it's not the way prophets work. They are to evangelize and for all intent and purposes anyone who says they are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ is a prophet, or a person who points the way to HIM and HIM only.

There is no such salutation as Prophet or even Bishop as quiet as its kept. Everyone wants to feel important so they make up titles and positions without the doing the time or the work. Or in most cases actually being called by God. The prophets of the Old TEstament had hard jobs, they had to warm folks at the risk of looking crazy and being killed. They suffered hard and long. I think she is close to JB, so she may be speaking from recent conversations they have shared about their struggles with relationships. Also, he's the one now talking about trying to reconcile, so that tells me that maybe she gave him the final boot and he snapped.

Comment: Bishop Thomas Weeks 3d, the estranged husband of evangelist Juanita Bynum surrendered to police this a.m after police issued a warrant for his arrest on charges that he beat, stomped and choked his wife in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel. The couple had been separated and were discussing a reconciliation. Bynum and Weeks were married five years ago in an obscenely extravagant "million-dollar" wedding with a wedding party of 80, 1,000 guests, a 12-piece orchestra, and a 7.76-carat diamond ring. When asked why a minister would spend so much money on her wedding, Bynum said the nuptials were her "once-in-a-lifetime wedding, and I did it this way because I plan to stay married." Bynum wrote on her myspace page that she's recovering.

"I think there is hope on his part that the relationship can get past these difficult moments." He's extremely sad, alright. He's about to lose access to Juanita's Wallet. And of course he wants to get past "these difficult moments", it's those moments that's keeping his pink-bus-riding behind from the lifestyle he had been enjoying with Juanita's money. For the people who knew Weeks before he became Mr. Juanita Bynum, you all know he was a broke fruitcake with a fledgling ministry. The threat of going back to that probably made him snap. Comment: TSKTSK… I hear you, but I think you’re missing my larger point though. If you’re a public figure you do have a right to protect your image if you feel you’re being maligned. If, as she says, she was a victim of an %*$ault, why shouldn’t she clarify that she is the victim and wasn’t involved in a “fight”? In the ministry your reputation is everything, so why would she want stories lingering out there that she’s fighting if she knows she wasn’t? Makes no sense to me. I’m not even a big fan of hers really, but I think people are causing their personal feelings regarding her, or preachers in general, to cloud their thinking on this one. You personally might feel youre not “kicking her while she’s down”, but its obvious to me that many people posting on this story are doing just that.

He found out that she had messed up the family finances - again - and had wrote some bad checks. As I recall, their checking account was overdrawn by $5,000 and the bank was calling.
She came up with some story about how she was abused and he forced her to wear a red wig and dress like a hooker during sex. Anyway, she's now a victim, out of jail and will seek custody of her kids. Now, if I did some shet like that, I would get the electric chair.

Dr. Smooth, I'm saying there is a way to deal with it when there is a crisis/criminal case in question versus plain old slander. Everything according to the law is alledged until it is tried or determined to be true or false. She could have taken the high road but in all honesty it wasn't her name she was protecting but her empire and future earnings with the way she chose to do things. Her name wasn't maligned, her reputation as a spiritual leader/marriage mentor was called into question. Big difference. I don't think she's being kicked while she's down, so let's face it if it were Pooky and NayNay, we'd be blowing their mess off as N*gga stuff. The reason why there are publicist and PR people is to guage public opinion.

Comment: Interestingly enough...a real relevant story from yesterday: "Mother Teresa Did Not Feel Christ's Presence for Last Half of Her Life, Letters Reveal.....".... Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who has been put on the “fast track” to sainthood, was so tormented by doubts about her faith that she felt “a hypocrite,” it has emerged from a book of her letters to friends and confessors.
Shortly after beginning her work in the slums of Calcutta, she wrote: “Where is my faith? Even deep down there is nothing but emptiness and darkness. If there be a God — please forgive me.”
In letters eight years later she was still expressing “such deep longing for God,” adding that she felt “repulsed, empty, no faith, no love, no zeal.”
Her smile to the world from her familiar weather-beaten face was a “mask” or a “cloak,” she said. “What do I labor for? If there be no God, there can be no soul. If there be no soul then, Jesus, You also are not true.”

Comment: Mother Teresa, who died in 1997 and was beatified in record time only six years later, felt abandoned by God from the very start of the work that made her a global figure, in her sandals and blue and white sari. The doubts persisted until her death.
The nun’s crisis of faith was revealed four years ago by the Rev. Brian Kolodiejchuk, the postutalor or advocate of her cause for sainthood, at the time of her beatification in October 2003. Now he has compiled a new edition of her letters, entitled, "Mother Teresa: Come be My Light," which reveals the full extent of her long “dark night of the soul.”
“I am told God lives in me — and yet the reality of darkness and coldness and emptiness is so great that nothing touches my soul,” she wrote at one point. “I want God with all the power of my soul — and yet between us there is terrible separation.” On another occasion she wrote: “I feel just that terrible pain of loss, of God not wanting me, of God not being God, of God not really existing.”
Rev. Kolodiejchuk maintains that Mother Teresa did not suffer “a real doubt of faith,” but that, on the contrary, her agonizing demonstrates her faith in God’s reality.
“We cannot long for something that is not intimately close to us ... Now we have this new understanding, this new window into her interior life, and for me this seems to be the most heroic,” he said.
The priest said that church authorities had decided to keep her letters even though one of her dying wishes was that they should be destroyed. In one, written to a spiritual adviser, Michael van der Peet, shortly before she received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, she wrote that: “Jesus has a very special love for you. As for me, the silence and emptiness is so great that I look and do not see, listen and do not hear. The tongue moves but does not speak.”

There's some truth in that. As much as I hate to admit it, my mom did a couple of shady things. At one time, she was having an affair with a married man in the church. Most recently (about 20 years ago), she "befriended" a woman in the church and somehow wound up married to her elderly husband. He's 26 years older than her, recovering from a stroke and spends 80% of his time home alone because she's a workaholic. Sometimes, she tries to question me about my personal life or offer advice. No disrespect, but I politely disregard or tune it out.

In his book he says the Lord told him to seek her out, which I find to be strange, because he was still married (albeit separated) at the time. This is in the winter, probably February 2002. When Juanita and Weeks had their hush-hush wedding in July 2002, he had recently had his divorce from his first wife finalized. After they thought the dirt cleared and the dust settled, they went ahead and had the mega-wedding in 2003. Looking at their brief courtship (which was formed on the grounds of adultery), does anyone on her really think that their union was blessed and ordained by God? It was bound to lead to this.

Comment: HT: As I was writing my post the words from your post were in my mind concerning a man's THREAT to their MANHOOD to just walk away. Of course I'm not saying a man should just stand there and take it. It takes MUCH SELF-CONTROL to handle one's behavior when one is being verbally/emotionally attacked. But when it comes to physicality, esp. betweeen a man and a woman, generally a man is physically stronger than a woman (notice I said GENERALLY). At the end of it all, nobody should be putting their hands on another human being to harm them.>>>> khufu: I really would prefer to not speak on this specific incident. I will say that 1) the man is usually blamed because the woman is considered the "weaker" vessel (well, the Bible says that) and legislation is designed to lean in protection of the woman from harm, abandonment, exploitation, etc. Does the woman play a role in these types of situations? Most likely so but again, regardless of what the woman says or does, the man is responsible for controlling himself. Each person is responsible for what they say and do.

Comment: Mas90, I suspect that so many beatdowns leading to death in AA relationships are directly related to escalated physical exchanges . . . nobody should put their hands on nobody . . . when it comes to control, if a man or woman thinks that control is achieved by an azz whupping, then one of the parties (the weaker, less nimble) is going to be harmed . . . if that weaker person gets an opportunity to equalize the situation, it's usually brutal . . . sadly, in AA communities, life is viewed as cheap and whoever does the dastardly deed gets the equivalent of a slap on the wrist relative to the emotional and mental pain that the other party lives with if that party lives . . . legalisms really don't matter to the dead

Thing is, you can get quality message board software for a website for barely a couple hundred dollars. Besides, a good message board can help bring new traffic and keep your existing traffic staying on your site longer, which means more ad revenue. So the new message board could easily pay for itself within a few weeks. But these people seem so slow to make positve changes to their site, its ridiculous. BlackVoices acually has one of the better message boards setups among AA webites. I hope EUR is paying attention.

Loved her message "No More Sheets" but the bottom line is that the church is in crisis, Marriages are in crisis and the family is in crises. The recent recurring message in my church is for people to stop watching these TV preachers and get into the word for yo' self. Seek God for yo'self, cause when you get in trouble you can't call on them and have them come to your rescue. Also is anyone familiar with Paula and Randy White, they have a big church in Florida called Church without walls. They've announced that they're divorcing as well. Comment: It is sad that in this day and time we are still trying to find reasons why the woman "drove" him to beat her. If she was ressponsible for him leaving his former wife and kids- then he is the one for leaving out of the door and leaving himself- no one can do it for you. For all of you who question why were they talking in a parking lot at 4:00 a.m.- have you never been out at that time? Were they not married? If someone threatens to KILL you, yes indeed, that is a felony. Abusive men ALWAYS say that: a) we were "fighting" or b) I was just trying to protect myself or c) she fell down and hit her head, etc- anything rather than admit repsonsibility. Go to a woman's shelter, any police department or hospital emergency room in the country and see the broken jaws, the burns, the knocked out teeth, the broken bones, etc, and ask yourself why you make light of this. It is a complete disservice to OUR women that our Black men (and some pathetic women) fail to understand that it is NOT alright to hit or beat a woman or a child or an animal. Last week, I was in an emergency room (where I volunteer) and one woman came in with BOTH eyes removed...she had been beaten by her husband. Think about it.

And for the record, I BET NOT SEE Reverend Joseph Goode Pastor of Mt Sinai Baptist Church on MYSPACE!!!!! PERIOD! Comment: Just sharing a thought: I think what's also happening here is that alot of these big time preachers are idolized (sp?) and God clearly says you are to have no other God before me. And in turn these preachers are fleecing the people. I admit and confess I've gotten caught up in the "Star Power" of some of these people, and its recently my desire to see them and get their books, etc. was soured. I really can't explain it I just wasn't impressed with them and their pulpits and their sanctuaries anymore. I started praying and seeking GOD fo' myself. If people really knew the stuff that goes on behind closed doors at some of these ministries they'd die, because its shocking and I'm only talking about what I'm recently hearing, and it goes beyond Juanita Bynum. I truly believe God himself is pulling the covers off of certain things, and hopefully people will draw nigh unto him for themselves.

Comment: Sharia (Arabic: ????? transliteration: Šari‘ah) is the dynamic body of Islamic law. The term means "way" or "path to the water source"; it is the legal framework within which the public and some private aspects of life are regulated for those living in a legal system based on Muslim principles of jurisprudence.
Sharia deals with all aspects of day-to-day life, including politics, economics, banking, business law, contract law, family, sexuality, hygiene, and social issues.
There is no strictly static codified set of laws of sharia. Sharia is more like a system of devising laws, based on the Qur'an (holy book of Islam), hadith (sayings of Muhammad), ijma , qiyas and centuries of debate, interpretation and precedent.
Before the 19th century, legal theory was considered the domain of the traditional legal schools of thought. Most Sunni Muslims follow Hanafi, Hanbali, Maliki or Shafii, while most Shia Muslims follow Jaafari (Hallaq 1997, Brown 1996, Aslan 2006).

I am sure if you performed an unbiased research you will find a plethora of examples of shadyness, adultery, abuse and all types of sodom and gomorrah up in Islam and many other religions. Just b/c Christian scandals are glorified doesn't negate the abundance in other religious sects. Lets be objective. I am a christian. I also use the brains that God bestowed me with. Each individual with the exception of children are responsible for themselves. If they chose not to do the research and fall for the okey doke, well that is their issue and their issue alone. I have never ( at least as an adult) have put my faith in another human being to the point where I worship them or accept their words as gospel. If you dont study and show thyself approved, oooh well. That is your problem. So if a person makes the choice to put their faith in these earthly people in any religion, that is their business.

At this point, there's no reported history nor knowledge of prior beatings, though some would assume from this incident, there's a possibility this maybe not have been the first time. So, based on this ONE incident, there are some questions. People just don't snap just for the sheer hell of it. Black men just don't snap for the sheer hell of it. All black men are not beaters. As a woman, I don't make light of %*$ault but as a woman, I also know that there's two sides. Quiet as it is kept, there are women who %*$ault too. This incident covers the end result, and that is Weeks being caught in the act of %*$aulting. As for those other men who virtually get off on beating women regularly, I say there's no place in society for them other than jail.

Prior to that I don't think they had the following that they both have now. In the Paula White article they announed that they were divorcing and people were really upset. They quoted one man as saying how he helped them build this ministry only to have them throw away their marriage he's hurt. People are saying that they noticed how in the beginning when they first started out it was fine, the messages were bible based, and they were helping the inner city communities feeding the hungry and clothing the poor, they were visiable and active in poor communities. Then all of a sudden they started preaching the "prosperity gospel" and they changed.

I would say this is an indictment of american values and not necesarrily christianity. Some would beg to differ to include catholicism in the Christian faith. I would propose that Catholicism is a pagan religion and not a christian one. Those examples you cited with R Kelly and etc would be proportionally correct based on the population and the number of christians to other religions. What is the population of Buddhist monks in america

Comment: A letter written by Ignatius to Christians in Smyrna [1] around 106 is the earliest surviving witness to the use of the term "Catholic Church" (Letter to the Smyrnaeans, 8). By it Ignatius designated the Christian Church in its universal aspect, excluding heretics, such as those who disavow "the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Saviour Jesus Christ, which suffered for our sins, and which the Father, of His goodness, raised up again" (Smyrnaeans, 7). He called such people "beasts in the shape of men, whom you must not only not receive, but, if it be possible, not even meet with" (Smyrnaeans, 4). The term is also used in the Martyrdom of Polycarp in 155 and in the Muratorian fragment, about 177.
St Cyril of Jerusalem (circa 315-386) urged those he was instructing in the Christian faith: "If ever thou art sojourning in cities, inquire not simply where the Lord's House is (for the other sects of the profane also attempt to call their own dens houses of the Lord), nor merely where the Church is, but where is the Catholic Church. For this is the peculiar name of this Holy Church, the mother of us all, which is the spouse of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Only-begotten Son of God" (Catechetical Lectures, XVIII, 26).[2]
The term "Catholic Christians" entered Roman Imperial law when Theodosius I, Emperor from 379 to 395, reserved that name for adherents of "that religion which was delivered to the Romans by the divine Apostle Peter, as it has been preserved by faithful tradition and which is now professed by the Pontiff (Pope) Damasus and by Peter, Bishop of Alexandria ...as for the others, since in our judgement they are foolish madmen, we decree that they shall be branded with the ignominious name of heretics, and shall not presume to give their conventicles the name of churches." This law of 27 February 380 was included in Book 16 of the Codex Theodosianus.[3] It established Catholic Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire.

Comment: The use of the term "Catholic" to distinguish the "true" Church from heretical groups is found also in Augustine who wrote:
"In the Catholic Church, there are many other things which most justly keep me in her bosom. The consent of peoples and nations keeps me in the Church; so does her authority, inaugurated by miracles, nourished by hope, enlarged by love, established by age. The succession of priests keeps me, beginning from the very seat of the Apostle Peter, to whom the Lord, after His resurrection, gave it in charge to feed His sheep (Jn 21:15-19), down to the present episcopate.
"And so, lastly, does the very name of Catholic, which, not without reason, amid so many heresies, the Church has thus retained; so that, though all heretics wish to be called Catholics, yet when a stranger asks where the Catholic Church meets, no heretic will venture to point to his own chapel or house.
"Such then in number and importance are the precious ties belonging to the Christian name which keep a believer in the Catholic Church, as it is right they should ... With you, where there is none of these things to attract or keep me... No one shall move me from the faith which binds my mind with ties so many and so strong to the Christian religion... For my part, I should not believe the gospel except as moved by the authority of the Catholic Church."
— St. Augustine (354–430): Against the Epistle of Manichaeus called Fundamental, chapter 4: Proofs of the Catholic Faith[4].

God calls and does the choosing and qualifying. If I'm remembering properly these two women were already ministers when he met them, he was just instrumental in giving them a larger platform to preach the gospel. No Bishop Jakes did not give birth to these two women spiritually. That's not what the term "spiritual daughters" mean.

Comment: List of Christian denominations (or Denominations self-identified as Christian) ordered by historical and doctrinal relationships. (See also: Christianity; Christian denominations).
Some groups are large (e.g. Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans or Baptists) while others are just a few small churches, and in most cases the relative size is not evident in this list. Also, modern movements such as Fundamentalist Christianity, Pietism, Evangelicalism, Pentecostalism and the Holiness movement sometimes cross denominational lines, or in some cases create new denominations out of two or more continuing groups (as is the case for many United and uniting churches, for example). Such subtleties and complexities are not clearly depicted here. Additionally, some groups viewed by non-adherents as denominational actively resist being called a "denomination" and do not have any formal denominational structure, authority, or record-keeping beyond the local congregation; several groups within Restorationism fall into this category.

Comment: The following excerpt (currently on http://www.coloredgirlswhohaveconsidered.blogspot.com/ ) would seem to indicate the good bishop had trouble with his wife's success. He knew the path she was on before they married and surely couldn't have expected her to become a demur, quiet housewife. Not saying the fault all lies with him (I believe a woman---a skillful woman at least---can be simultaneously be strong AND feminine), but his own words here seem to point out some shortcomings (likewise, a skillful man can be both masculine AND soft).
This is an excerpt from Bishop Thomas Weeks III book 'What's On Your Mind'
I have heard it said that truth is stranger than fiction. It is also more humorous because it is real. My wife and I were vacationing on Martha's Vineyard, eating breakfast at our favorite restaurant. Since we were still going through our " early marriage adjustments" at that time, trying to fit my schedule and her schedule into married life. I said something that I should not have said. The subject should have not been brought up at that time, but I brought it up, and I know she had a right to be upset the moment my words came out of my mouth.
I must say she conducted herself like the lady she is, quietly getting up and leaving the restaurant. She could have said a lot of things, but very wisely, she simply left. I knew she was angry, and as it is often said, the best defense is a good offense, so I got angry. Actually, I became furious.
I settled the check, went out and got in the car, started it, and pulled forward to where she was.
She was holding her cell phone like she was ready to call someone, but I said, "come on now, and get in the car. Let's go back to the hotel" She looked at me like she could have hit me and told me to go on--she would walk. Of course, I did the wrong thing--I rolled up the window and started off. I had barely move a few feet when I heard an awful thump. I thought, Surely she didn't throw that cell phone at my car.

Comment: (cont.) I jumped out of the car, and yes, there was her cell phone in three pieces. Nothing was broken, and my car didn't have a scratch on it, but this situation was far from over. She got into the back seat (refusing to sit by me) and proceeded to tell me what I had done wrong (as if I wasn't already regretting it) Then I heard her call and talk to a friend, "Girl, I want to get off this island right now..."
I was driving and trying to decide what I should do next. I kept telling her to get off the phone and she kept getting louder. She finally told me to stop and let her out. I stopped the car, let her out, and pulled the car down a little way (not far, mind you). I stopped the car again, got out and walked toward her, trying to show her I was the man. That's when she reached and grabbed a rock--a big one. I knew it was time to get honest: this girl had grown up on the West Side of Chicago. My first step was to pray. Then I did what any husband would do--I disarmed her.
It was good for us to have that moment, humorous as it sounds, because it allowed us to move to a new level of honesty. I was able to tell her why I had said what I did in the restaurant. I told her the reason why I had acted the way I did. Now, we were dealing with us. When two people come together, there is a level of truth both discern instantly: other levels of truth take years to begin to understand.
We must be open to honesty, as well as to corrections and rebuke, even if we do not agree with what the other person is saying. We never know the full extent of another person's struggles--in his or her early or adolescent years or later in single or married life. We must maintain the attitude of no harm intended and keep an earnest passion to get things right in order to take into account the needs of the other person.
Having an earnest passion to get it right is essential. This requires that you get inside the heart of the other person to see what he/she has been through. Not only will this give you more sensitivity, it will convince you that there are more important things in life than arguing. Share your emotions, sit down, and talk things out.
It is not easy being married to Prophetess Bynum. She is such a wonderful person that people feel the need to shield and protect her, but there are also those people who would like to control her life. Some people did not want her to marry me, because it changed their perception of who she is. I had to admit to her that I had a difficult time dealing with people who might hurt her in any way. In turn, she shared there were things about me that she didn't like. (Just imagine!) She is a wonderful wife, yet she has been called to the nations. It would be extremely difficult for her to sit down, be a First Lady in our church, and be content staying in one spot when God has called her to other assignments.

Comment: Its interesting to me that people here are using an incident between 2 preachers as an excuse to bash Christianity. Unfortunatley, clergypeople in all religions fail, and commit theft, sexual sin, and other sins. Why is it when a Christian leader falls, people use that to bash Christianity itself?.... but these same people dont bash Islam, even though 500,000+ BLACK people have been killed in Sudan by arab muslims in the name of Islam? and you dont hear a peep out of these Christian-bashers even though Christians, Hindus, Bhuddists and other non-Christians regularly face discrimation, persecution, and violence in Muslim countries all over the world? Hmmm? Lemme hear some of you speak on that.

Comment: Harriet.. I agree. No argument here. . OSUN… I was on earlier, and then I watched for a while, while Khufu went on his religion bashing (which was really Christian- bashing) rant. It’s funny how whenever these people talk about how corrupt “religion” is today, and how “preachers” are misleading people, they seem to only use Christianity as their example. They don’t talk about Muslim imams all over the world inciting terrorists to kill innocent people, commit suicide in the name of Allah, etc. Aren’t these imams corrupt “preachers” too, aren’t they misleading people by the thousands and the millions too, and have blood on their hands? Why aren’t they held accountable. When you point out the atrocities done in the name of Islam, these same apologists want to tell you that Islam is really a "religion of peace" . Yeah aiight. You can believe that if you want to.

Comment: I know I'm a little late, I'm a Christian and this is what I believe: I believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I believe that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and that Mary is the Mother of Jesus. I believe Christ was crucified and rose on the third day. I believe that there is but one to God, and that's through his son. I have accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I follow the teachings of Christ, as in his sermon on the Mount. I also believe There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins. I believe that the wages of sin is death. I believe in the entire contents of the Bible (some books are allegedly missing, but His Word has stood the test of time and the only thing I know that has never changed. Almost everyone knows that we make bad choices. A Christian knows these bad choices as "sin" and that those bad choices keep us separated from God. We want to do things our own way. We are self centered, independent from God, each one seeking his and her own way, focused on getting all we can for ourselves. It's the "I, Me, My and Mine" disease. I believe God has a plan that He is in the process of carrying out right now! His plan is to establish His kingdom on earth and that involves a battle. All great battles have times when the enemy is advancing and times when the enemy retreats. God says this: By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear.
They will say of me, 'In the LORD alone are righteousness and strength.'" All who have raged against him will come to him and be put to shame.

Comment: The Crusades were a series of military conflicts of a religious character waged by Christians during 1095–1291, most of which were sanctioned by the Pope in the name of Christendom.[1] The Crusades originally had the goal of recapturing Jerusalem and the sacred "Holy Land" from Muslim rule and were originally launched in response to a call from the Eastern Orthodox Byzantine Empire for help against the expansion of the Muslim Seljuq dynasty into Anatolia. This is ironic, as the crusades have now been compared to the Muslims Jihad.[2][3]

Comment: DOCSMOOTH...here's more....The year was 1095 CE, William the Conqueror had united England under one crown 30 years earlier.* The French had been dividing properties amongst their sons for generations, causing bloodshed between brothers over small pieces of real estate. In reaction, Pope Urban II expanded "The Truce of God", which outlawed fighting from Sunday to Wednesday, and banned fighting involving priests, monks, women, laborers and merchants on any day of the week. Italy was a collection of city-states, constantly being overrun by invading hordes, the latest of which were the Normans, who had just started to become "civilized".
There was also the Byzantine empire, ruling from Constantinople, whose emperor at this time was Alexius Comnenus. To his East, the Turks were rapidly encroaching on his empire, and had begun attacking pilgrims on their way to - and in - Jerusalem, causing him great distress. He wrote to his friend Robert, the Count of Flanders, in 1093, telling him about supposed atrocities committed by the Turks on the Christian pilgrims, and Robert passed this letter on to Pope Urban II. Urban, an opportunist, saw this as a perfect way to solve some of his local problems. He personally promoted a Holy Crusade to reclaim the Holy Lands from the barbarian Turks. Thus, the First Crusade was launched in 1096 CE.
At this point, we need a list of players. Many went along, but only a few are worth remembering. It was an international group, with members from France, Italy and England. From France, we have Hugh the (not so) Great, Count of Vermandois, brother of the French King of Northern and Central France, and a man of little character with no other importance to our story. With him were Godfrey, Baldwin and Eustace of Bouillon, sons of the Duke of Lower Lorraine - descended through their mother from Charlemagne - along with their cousin, Baldwin Le Bourg. Also from France, we have Raymond IV of Saint-Gilles, Count of Toulouse, who had already fought the Moors in Spain. His mother was a princess of Barcelona. He was the first to "Take the Cross".

5"Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries[a] wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them 'Rabbi.'

29"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. 30And you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.' 31So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. 32Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers!
33"You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? 34Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. 35And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation.
37"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. 38Look, your house is left to you desolate. 39For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'[d]"

Comment: khufu, I actually started to send a note with Wikipedia and changed my mind because it would not serve any useful purpose . . . you have already stated that there seems to be more Christian scandal than any other religious scandal which is not true . . . much more factually correct is that Europeans have deeply documented the Christian religion and Americans most certainly deeply document Christianity in the US . . . while a body of scholarly work exists about Islam, it has not had the deep documentation that the West is accustomed to accessing . . . the modern Middle Eastern conflicts have created expansive interest of all facets of culture in that area including religion . . . generally, Westerners don't know or understand Islam or understand what makes Muslims upset enough to burn down the world for posting pictures of Prophet Muhamed, peace be upon him, in any media format and they don't like having their pictures posted because it is irreligous for them . . . when one does not generally understand a religion or its culture, how does one speak to its shortcomings . . . so, you are quite correct, we ought to stick to disparaging Chrisianity and Christian leadership

But the fact is, people like to come on here, and say how bad, corrupting, etc, religion is.. and their primary example they always want to use is Christianity... even though there's far worse atrocities being done now in the name of Islam than in any other religion right now. However these people often like to pretend they are againt "bad religion" as a whole, while in fact, they have a particular anti-Christian bias, for whatever reasons. If you were to listen to them speak, you'd think Chrsitianty is the only religion that has had "issues". Their bias comes out, no matter how much they try to mask it.

Comment: Khufu.... True, the Muslims who are killing others in southern Sudan don’t just kill Christians, so you could say it’s not a pogrom against Christians per se. Yes, they also kill animists and any other non-Muslims there, so what’s your point? . Christians are unable to safely practice their religion in Sudan, and they are killed because of it, but the best you can say is that because its not a specific anti-Christian "pogrom”, that its a spin job by Christians to re draw attention to the crisis? That’s very weak, and you know it. Muslims all over the world holler and scream if 20 Muslims get killed by Israeli soldiers in Palestine. But they are strangely quiet when their Sudanese Muslim brothers kill hundreds of thousands of non-Muslims in the name of their religion. If this is supposed to be a religion of peace, how come none of these Muslim nations are criticizing Sudan for making their “peaceful” religion look bad?

Besides, there is an awful lot of bad religion out there and can be found in ALL religions. Terrorism is a result of bad religion. Slavery was bad religion. Please don't indict Christianity here. Indict it at your own risk, because Christ says NO MAN SHALL COME TO THE FATHER BUT BY ME. I assume that includes Jews, Muslims, Christians, Hindi, Buddhists. If it's a lie, then Christ said so. Please don't indict Christianity.

Comment: And also, KHUFU… just to prove how you’re being selective here. Lets not forget, YOU were the one who said that the scandals we hear about are all “Christian stuff”. By saying that, you imply that Christianity is the most scandal-ridden religion in the world!! and youre the one who also said in a previous post: "does this happen in Buddhism? Islam? Judaism? "Ok. ... That’s why is was appropriate for me to bring Islam into it. Because whatever you can blame Swaggart, Bakker, etc for pales in comparison to the worlds largest genocide taking place right now in the name of religion. What bigger religious scandal is there right now than Muslims killing 500,000+ non muslims in the name of their religion? If you ignore that, and ignore the scandalous stuff going on in the name of Islam, then its because you are being willfully blind. Sure, the conversation was initially about Christian preachers. But once you try to paint 1 religion as being the most “scandalous” of all, in light of all we know that’s going on in the name of Mohammed, your bias becomes even more obvious.

You need to study more because there are religiuos sects that do way worst than commit adultery, lie, steal, etc.Let's be honest here, sin is sin. Whether your religion condones or opposes it. We all have to answer for our own. So it doesn't matter in the end does it, because He will either say, "Well done", or "Depart from me." I personally am striving daily to uphold the WORD OF GOD abd it isn't always easy. GOD is unveiling more and more and someone like you HE isn't impressed that you think you know religion. It is about your relationship with HIM and HIM only.

Comment: There ae far worst things to come than this story of the Prophetess and The Bishop. We should just pray that whatever GOD is seeking to reveil even in this situation where HIS own have put thmselves in situations such as this, that HE has to "show up and show out" because HIS WORD is being challenged. I hope that those of us who serve HIM

Comment: >>>Khufu... just to respond to an earlier "question" you asked me. You said "prove that Muslim Imams all over the world are inciting terrorism". You're kidding, right? OK. Lets see, over the past few years we've seen devout muslims have been arrested/convicted for commiting or planning to commit terrorist activites in the name of their religion in the USA, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, England, Scotland, Iraq, India, Nigeria, Lebanon, Israel, Spain, and other countries. Does that answer your question? Since you feel like asking dumb questions, do you also need me to "prove" to you that 1+1=2 ??

Comment: Now, this rascal is telling his congregation that the "devil" made him do it. That is downright insulting to the intelligence of the members, but if they sit there and listen to it, shame on them.

Comment: Yep, he said it was the devil. And I saw a sermon by A. R. Bernard who said taht the devil isn't omnipresent, he can't be everywhere. The fact that he showed up at church tells me that their egoes are overriding any semblance of spirituality they may have... If any.

Comment: As I intimated in an earlier post last week (an excerpt from the Bishop's book), he has an ego problem, e.g., his wife being a more important and well-known figure than himself, and it has gotten the best of him.

Comment: CHOSENBYGOD: " You said that my comments and criticisms re: The Bynum Incident were " "Christian bashing." Well LOL you sound to me like those Pharisees, Saducees, Scribes who attacked Jesus when He critiques their religious practices. LOL Ironic, isnt. It. Furthermore, I never claimed to have knowledge of the Bible and Christianity you claim I have. All I as doing was citing Biblical scriptures and my "opinion" isnt that what ministers do? True, I have researched my opinions. Do ministers do that? It seems to me that youre problem is not with me but with the Bible and those insights that are different than yours. Do you diagree with those Biblical scriptures that I posted?
What did I say that you consider "Christian bashing?"

Comment: REALUVBABY: To continue our conversation from Friday: You, like me, profess to be a defender of The Messiah/The Christ. In my mind, that is different than being a defender of the religion called Christianity. As you are a staunch defender of Jesus. Please, let us enter into an intelligent and informed discussion:
1) What was Jesus’ name before it was Jesus?
2) When did Jesus become Christian?
3) Can you point to me one instance in the Bible when Jesus referred to himself as "Christian?"

Comment: REALOVE and CHOSEENBYGOD: I didnt say that there would be many coming in the name of Christ but would really be hypocrites…..please actually read…" Matthew 7: 21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

Comment: DOCTORSMOOTH: Your "Proof" that Imams are inciting terrorism is based on what you have been told by YT and media. Have you actually heard, in English (Unless you speak and understand Arabic) promote or incourage terrorism? Terrorism, now. Or are you parroting what you have been hypnotized to parrot?
DOCTORSMOOTH: Has Christianity ever been used to encourage terrorism against a people or culture?

Comment: Khufu? After seeing that last response to my post you you, I cant help but wonder what color is the sky in your world. So... the fact that Muslim terrorists have been arrested in all those countries I mentioned is because Whitey and the media have been lying to us? Or are you saying it really isnt happening, and the media is just making it all up? ( I hadnt even mentioned Germany, Yemen, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia,Kenya, Indonesia, and a few others on my previous list). Doesnt matter anyway. I'm convinced you are either being intellectually dishonest, or you are sadly, totally, in denial (or both). Either way,I dont think there's anything more for us to talk about on this subject. Have a good day.

Comment: khufu I agree with anything THE BIBLE has to say, how about you? how can you say that they are false prophets when they have been chosen? Prophetess Bynum has a very unique ministry and it has been a very effective ministry, despite current circumstances. God desires for HIS children to prosper and some say that she is all about money. She had to endure some things to gt to where she is, and the Bible says that<"He won't put more on us than we can bare." God is still in control and I believe that some things just had to happen in order for God to get the attention of His people.

Comment: ChosenbyGod- not to get into any on-going debate over this issue, how do you know they were indeed "chosen" by God? Not all ministers are chosen by God, but instead, they select themselves without God. My next question is exactly what is a "Prophetess"? I don't recall seeing that term in the Bible, nor do a recall any of the Prophets being women. I'm just asking. I have seen Bynum before and I was totally not impressed. I could have stomached it, had she not begged for money the entire time (money lines, $1,000 and up) to get blessing. May God bless you and keep you.

Comment: Many are called but few are chosen... There is a man with a book, Snakes in the Pulpit and one of the points he makes is that many of the folks we look up to as preachers/teachers were never called by God but my human beings. We watching the separation of the wheat from the tare right in front of us. This morning I listened to Paula White on her TV show and heard several bad teachings from Scripture. I watched 'Nita at her conference on TV and Weeks was on the sideline when she said MY husband is not my enemy and said some thing that countered biblical teaching. Jesus isn't going to beat them down as much as He's going to beat down all of us who blindly followed and didn't get in that Bible for ourselves to study to show ourselves approved. Nope, we don't study and show Bynum, Weeks, Jakes and all others approved. This is getting sadder and sadder.

Comment: CHOSEN: Read this...
(Jeremiah 5: 26-31)
26 "Among my people are wicked men who lie in wait for victims like a hunter hiding in a blind. They are continually setting traps for other people. 27 Like a cage filled with birds, their homes are filled with evil plots. And the result? Now they are great and rich. 28 They are well fed and well groomed, and there is no limit to their wicked deeds. They refuse justice to orphans and deny the rights of the poor. 29 Should I not punish them for this?" asks the LORD. "Should I not avenge myself against a nation such as this? 30 "A horrible and shocking thing has happened in this land ? 31 the prophets give false prophecies, and the priests rule with an iron hand. And worse yet, my people like it that way! But what will you do when the end comes?
