Comment: While he may be somewhat off base with this statement and how it was framed (Black women v. White women), he does have SOMEWHAT of a point. Not necessarily on the racial angle, but ask yourself just how many marriages of Black men and women are there today? I'd say far fewer than there should be. Now yes, there are a number of variables that lead to this but in my experience, at the core, I've known a lot of Black women (and men) who grew up hearing "yo daddy aint ***, a N aint ***, don't let no man tell you nothing" and the list goes on. With that, I've seen many of these women take this PROGRAMMING into adulthood and then years later sit and wonder why they could never sustain a lasting relationship. And I THINK what this Polow cat was trying to convey, is that based on the hyper aggressive way some Black women have been raised to view men, leads them to substantive issues later in life while trying to be in relationships with any men and they eventually end up running the man off only to sit and lament that he could not deal with a "strong" woman.

I work with a large number of white men and you should hear the things they say about their white wives: they nag all day, spend too much money, and don't cook enough. And all too often, we have had to try to assume the role of mother/father and carry on. We know how things are supposed to go and there is nothing wrong with questioning a brother.
And it doesn't have to be done in a confrontational manner. It is just that black women take offense to being disrespected, put down and belittled and for good reason.
Also, white women as more subservient is a myth. I know plenty of women who are doormats for their boyfriends/husbands. I know one woman who pays the mortage, most of the household bills, overlooks infidelity and serves as primary caretaker for the kids, just so her husband won't leave.

She was just another accessory and something that validated his rise.

Also, black women have historically had to be strong and assume leadership because we often have had to support ourselves and our children and didn't have the luxury of being a homemaker or visiting the country club and shopping all day while hubby was off making millions. I think that it's all about balance -there are times to be submissive and times to take the lead. But if you want to date a certain race of women, fine, just say that. Black women are very loyal to black men and black men know it, so your loyalty is taken for granted. People don't realize what they have until they lost it and then have to put in work to try and get it back. And black men do not realize how desirable black women are to men of other races. Men thrive on competition and black men don't think they have any when it comes to getting a black woman, so black women are thought of as being at the bottom of the totem pole. Let me tell you why SOME black women question their men. I have seen it first hand: A very southern young lady marries a city slicker. They marry and have children. She stays home to raise them instead of working outside of the home because he asked her to be an at home mom. She does so. He brings home the bacon, she raises the children. He cheats. She raises the children. He dabbles and eventually gets caught in a bad scene which tears the family apart. So now, you have a woman and her children who are devastated because they had no idea of what was happening. Why? Because he showed a different face to them than what he showed the outside world and she never questioned him. She trusted him when he said everything was alright. She trusted him when he said he would take care of it. So now, they have daughters who witnessed this and while they love and want a black man their EXPERIENCE has taught them to question him when things don't seem right. Is there anyone in here who can say they are wrong?

How many times have you heard a seemingly tough sister proclaim that she "doesn't need a man" and can do it all by herself? And with the prolifieration of single black women
(some happy, some not) in society, there's a certain image out there about us.
When there are news reports about young black males who have been arrested for this or that and going on trial, 99.9 % of the time, mama only is photographed at the trial and quoted in the newspaper. Now, we know these women aren't making all of these babies by themselves.....

Comment: Polow's comments are not that new or different, it's the same stereotypical comment that comes up each time someone notices that a black man is dating white women. We know know it is not true but can be based in truth as most stereotypes are. IMO for any man who feels like that cool, go on with your white chick. I don't know why this is still news about some black men preferring white women because of---fill in the blank, the media has been running them same comments since the early 70s when Wilt Chamberlain said he dated white women because black women had less education and exposure to culture. The media just likes to give further credence that black men and women don't stick together and that there something wrong with black women. In spite of all the problems we discuss, those men are acutally few and far between thank goodness, and although those comments are derogatory and can hurt, fcuk 'em.

Comment: People need to read between the line. The dude likes the way white women LOOK. There are black women who act just like the women he describes, but he would not get past their skin color and hair texture. A friend introduced an oreo black women and an oreo black man in a group setting. They immediately did not like each other because of the PHYSICAL and both ended hooking up with a white person of the opposite sex.

Comment: Victornator, that just goes to show how deeply ingrained self-hatred can be. I see black people of various shades and always find something pleasing to the eye. On some level, the people you speak of still don't believe that black is "good enough."
My mom who used to babysit a cousin's daughter when she was small. The girl's father is bi-racial and she has wavy hair and light skin. Babysitting included keeping her for days at a time, buying formula, clothing, etc. and parading her around. Several years later, my cousin married a heavy set, dark-skinned man and had a son who is his mirror image. My mom initially wanted the girl to continue to visit, but when the cousin insisted that her son come, too, the visits stopped. She said she "didn't want to be bothered with him," presumably because he is "bad." He does like to cut up, but if he had wavy hair and light skin, it would not matter. Interestingly, my mom is only a couple of shades lighter than the kid.

Comment: As i always say, "I have no time for anyone who doesn't want me." So I ain't worried 'bout your stupid azz. and let me tip you in on a secret: they (White women) laugh about you behind your backs. Thought they felt differently, huh? I have heard them too many times- especially when a buch of white women who date Black men get together. They laugh about your speech, your "teefus", your clothes, your music, your family, your car and how important it is to you, how you no longer "put on a show" in bed, how they "rule your life", how you spend all kind of money on them, how you don't know as much about sex as they had heard, how you're prudish about sex, how unfaithful you are, your jail time, how you don't care about your kids, how you mess up your money, how they wouldn't have a kid by you and if they do, they never know what to do with the child's "ni**er" hair, how you've got all these bumps on your face, how you aren't romantic, and how sick they are of you. Think I made this up? No- I hear it all the time...because they believe that a "sister" would understand. My other Black friends used to tell me this, but I didn't believe it until I heard it. And here is a common endearment I hear from White women behind your back, you are "My Ni**er", but they'd trade you up in a minute if they could find a White man who'd ever look at them. When they do, guess where that child goes- up for adoption. Sad, isn't it. I once thought that White women felt differently, but they do feel entitled to ALL men- not just their own. I have known White women for years and years and while they try to hide this at first, it doesn't take long for it to come out and they are soon complaining about you behind your back. Gives you something to think about... Now me- I don't mind if you date White men, because I wasn't looking at you in the first place. I know that there are a world of men who want me and always have. Its good to be Queen!

Comment: Peekiebear, I got a big kick out of Amani Toomer's ex Russian woman. He put her through school and showered all kinds of money on her, yet she aborted 4 of his fetuses. She wanted to talk half his %*$ets and bounce. That women refused to have sex with him and thought he was repulsive in the end. I'm glad Polow has been identified.
