I don't understand the jail thing at all - but, I guess if you got unresolved infractions out there, sooner or later, they will catch you one way or another. I think two of El's older brothers (one is now deceased) both served time in prison, and his younger bro, Chico. I still love his songs - Love Always....get your business in order, Eldra.

I interviewed El after a suprise appearance at a city event in New Orleans near Audobon Zoo. He appeared to be a balanced, sincere, cool kat, but that was the late-90s. All I can say is what happened, CARROT? That mug shot looks like CRACK CITY, sad to say. And one mo' thang: I was shocked to find out that CARROT got ten-10!!!-children. TEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the whole Debarge clan from Swith to Debarge and their solo efforts. Comment: I can see how a person would start partying with their friends, try some of this/that and wind up strung out a month later. However, if you see your life, career, family, etc. going down the tubes as a result of drugs, there has to be something within you that says "I can do better than this." I've never understood that concept of wanting to be "high" all the time. What are you trying to escape and getting high costs too damm much.

You know how hard it is to prove rape in the court system and yet he immediately went to prison. However, I caught a radio interview with El years ago, and he was talking about how some of his brothers were currently doing time in prison , "and one is just in jail!" The (Black) interviewer was bewildered because he hadn't heard all of this before (nor had I). No, Bunny didn't go to jail- at the time she was just having a baby out of wedlock (natch). I know that dark skinned black men have always been jealous of the light-skinned ones (especially the good-looking ones). But hey, whether you're in jail or prison, its just an accepted thing that since you're not around women- any man's booty will do. That's what the hanging pants you see in the street came from- as if I needed to tell y'all. It has always been a sign that "My booty is available." Comment: He had two brothers in jail at the time of that interview. Chico was the later for trying to carry cocaine on a plane, like Dallas Austin, except Chico got a few years in jail. I love El's voice. I remember visiting their church in Grand Rapids, Michigan (their mother made sure all was in attendance)you would hear some joyful sounds coming from that family.
