Comment: You lost me when you compared Malcolm, who lost his life in the struggle to uplift Blacks, to Curtis Jackson. PLEASE give me a couple of examples of what Curtis has done to help the race. Gangsta rap has been around over 20 years, please advise what actions they've taken or momovements they've started that White conservatives should fear? The gangsta rappers have actually helped perpetuate racist agenda in my opinion, by teaching young Black men to shun education, embrace "thug" life, be materialistic and misogynistic instead of revolutionary. And I'm sure Chuck D would take exception to PE being called "gangsta rappers".

Comment: jazzfan and Winn30344, I think that Min. Scott is expecting some "right ons", some "Amens" and a hefty sales rate . . . this article is really an ad for a rude product . . . your analysis of a genre that has devolved certainly does not fit the author's lofty evaluation of the state of hip hop and his idea of hip hop prominence along side revered AAs . . . he is overlooking the fact that retail sales among the largest hip hop purchasers (YTs) are down and that groups within the AA community are working on returning the genre to its roots because there is a legitimate "beef with those entertainers who have dared to bite the hand that has allowed them to gain wealth and popularity"
