Comment: Funk That! It's time to start taking hostages and making demands on these porch monkey purveyors of fine minstrelsy.
Debra Lee's Response to the above: "But, but, but, I don't listen to the lyrics, I just like the beat."
DS: What about the video imagery?
Debra Lee: "What's That?"

Comment: Great post WhoStoleTheSoul (and great handle btw, lol). I love this group's name, "Enough is Enough," how appropo. I applaud their activism but I'm not so sure about their methods, don't know if I can condone going to this lady's residence to protest. First, it's giving her too much power, making it seem as though she is the ONLY person that can "save" Black entertainment. In reality she is but a [large] fish in a big pond. So many other angles to take, from the sponsors to the artists themselves. So I feel them but not their tactics in this case.

Comment: Your efforts would be better spent reeducating the masses that view BET on a regular basis. The industry only understands or recognizes ratings numbers. If people stopped watching (which they won't) the network would get the message. But standing out someone's home harassing them is not the answer.

Comment: This is good but it's too late in coming as far as I'm concerned. After an entire generation has been negatively influenced now some johnny-come-lately's decide to protest? NOT!!!

Comment: I think it's better late than never. I also think that different approaches can be taken simultaneously, including educating the masses. I can't believe a Black woman is the CEO of the medium that provides non-stop negative imagery of Black women. Either she is paid out the ying-yang to help her sleep at night or she's living in a perpetual state of a drug induced coma. While in college, students protested the President's house- which turned out to be highly effective in getting a response. Kudos to Enough is Enough

Comment: The bottom line is this is a great PR move that will draw attention to the enough is enough organization's issues and concerns. It also allows them to branch out from and not be associated with the typical Jesse and Al protest which many on this board often stated they were tried of seeing. A well folk here is our chance to support “other leaders” stepping out. If Debra is smart she will set-up a meeting with them. While some believe there efforts would be served better elsewhere. I disagree. There is no silver bullet to this matter, but as someone else mention you have to attack this from many angles. Question, does anyone know where in DC Debra lives?

Comment: >Oshun I agree it should start somewhere, but picketing this woman's home is not the answer. Let's put the blame on the Johnsons who grew this monster and then sold it to Viacom, they paid a lot of money for the junk programming on BET. The audience could affect a changebut now viewing but the reality is that a lot of our people are still enamored with BET and see nothing wrong with the programming. The blacks grew it and gave it to the whites why are we protesting them instead of the Johnsons.

Comment: Dang! Being from DC, I know that is a mostly white, uptown, quiet little area in that neighborhood. LOL! They gonna light it up! LOL! I do agree with them on the issue that folks like Debra Lee at BET like to wash their hands of the issue of BET's content so this does need to be addressed. I don't know if protesting in front of the person's home is the final answer in its method but it has been done many times before with politicians and more a la Clarence Thomas and more folks. I would prefer a meeting or a conference myself with the heads of BET, however I feel this group because something has to be done to address it more. There seems to be a whole upper mamagement crew at BET just like Lee that carry the same attitude or way about themselves when it comes to holding them to any accountability. When you see them, they don't look like the type of folks who would be anywhere near tuned into a BET, let alone working for one, yet they are.

Comment: I saw an interesting interview with Pearl Cleage over the weekend. She is now teaching at Spelman and posed a good question to her students. How can you protest and then go to the club and dance to music that demeans you?

Comment: What for? BET is not the leader. What about the so called artist ? This group gives BET way too much credit. If people are offended by the shows on BET all they have to do is not watch it. All this protest will do is give BET free publicity.

Comment: Now what in the world are these n1ggers protesting in front of her home for? All this protest for 106th and Park? Of the entire BET line-up, there are only two shows, rap city and 106th that we can semi-argue "negativity." That's really two shows on an entire networks line-up. This is where n1ggas always fail..thinking too fast, too wrong, and nothing gets done. TWO SHOWS! and you choose to protest in front of somebody's else. %*$!(@ please! Damn you dumb azzes to hell!

Comment: >BlkATLTop The viewership sends the message to networks. Evidently we have a lot of blacks still tuned in that don't see anything wrong with what they're watching. I know the Johnsons sold this network years ago but think about it who would you think should be more in touch with the images of black people, the Johnsons? or Viacom? What I was saying was actually tongue in cheek but to protest in front of the woman's house is a little too much for a situation that according to the ratings is not affected by a lot of black people. They just don't give a dayum, becuase "we" don't give a dayum.

Thanks for the mention WSTS, but her response was actually, "What, I'm sorry, could you repeat the question?", while stalling to find an answer on the video imagery question I presented. Desperate times call for desperate measures (y'all ain't seen nothing yet) :(

Comment: PBF...well don't hold your breath and wait for that one too happen. Somebody told this ingnint negro that going to Debra's home is the best method to draw attention to an obvious problem. We are aware of the problem. But, instead of holding protests every saturday. Since they are in the DC metro area, they should take their protests to the street corners of SE, NW, NE, AND SW DC..NOT in front of Debra's home. Dumb azz negros!
