Somone/anyone with even the slightest bit or notoriety can BUY the star!!!
In the old days the studio's paid for them, now the stars, there fans, or anyone can pay for it.
Seeing as how this is so close to the release of a movie, my bet is the studio paid for it as extra publicity. It don't cost that much either.
