Comment: I feel Donovan, but I honestly think in his case it's less about his skin color and more about the city in which he plays. Most people know Philly fans can be vicious--with White or Black players. Those "fans" are on another level, lol. But on the substance of his point, I feel like saying, "Duh." lol Not sure why this has to be so controversial, maybe to some White folks, but most Black folks already know this. That said, I don't think it was very wise or timely to bring this up, not sure why McNabb felt compelled to...I hope it wasn't to divert attention from his team's record. Seems like right now he needs to focus on THAT. But I digress...

Comment: This translates to positions of authority. Ty Willingham was run out of Notre Dame while Charlie Weis gets off scott free. Notre dame is a laughing stock and there is definitely a different standard for Black coaches.

Comment: alright you know this so don't be f-cking up

Name: BlkATLTop
Comment: This is all over ESPN. What's the controversy? What he said is true.

Comment: Cosign TGen......Philly has the meaniest, nastiest fans in the NFL. I visited their Stadium about 2 years ago for a game against my beloved Washington Redskins and they lost and it got really ugly. Clinton Portis' mother had to be removed from the stands during the game b/c someone threw something at her.

Comment: Charles Barkley was a guest in the booth at Philly's Monday night's game in which they lost to my beloved Washington Redskins (GO SKINS!!). Barkley said that the Eagles don't get the same respect as the Colts and/or the Patriots and they have been a playoff team with a winning record for the last several years. I agree with TGen and BlkATL....What's the controversy? It's true and it always has always been!

Name: leeneepoo
Comment: TGEN>>>I agree with your statement. I'm not certain as to why he brought the subject up either. It is bad timing for him to do so...maybe he has his reasoning but IMO that was a bad flagrant foul to me.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: A black quarterback states that black quarterbacks a scrutinzed more and have to do a bit extra. That's a GOTDAM LIE AND HE KNOWS IT. Ain't no way in the world a black person is scrutinized and expected to perform harder than yt folk. What kind of backwards thinking is that? This time I agree w/u nygger bailey, this IS a controversy!!!!! Fk Mcnabb's dumb azz for saying some foul shyt like dat. I hate to hear black folk make such false assumptions. UGH!

Name: TGen
Comment: Musdherbs, I agree that ALL quarterbacks are scrutinized and nit-picked...but you don't think with the [racist] history of the NFL in regards to not even giving Blacks a chance to be quarterback because of supposed lack of intelligence, that Black quarterbacks are scrutinized more than their White counterparts? Are you serious or are you just being sarcastic? I can't tell which.

Name: Smokie1
Comment: You know what, let your play do the talking for you. Go ouot there and do your best. You know that blacks aren't supposed to be intellegent enough to be able to be quarterback and the best way to shut that sentiment down is to do the best that you can and pick up another brother who is trying to do the same thing that you are doing. Actions speak louder than words. Let the commentators debate this, not the players.

Name: BlkATLTop
Comment: This isn't a "controversy". just like Tupac wasn't %*$assinated.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: lol..TGEN..yes, it was PURE sarcasm!!!!

Name: dcdouglass01
Comment: I agree with others that the racial rabidness of the fans will have a psychological effect. So to will certain glances from coaches after a bad series that seem to ask "Does this BLACK guy still have it?" as opposed to "Does this guy still have it?" But many of us on this board deal with that every day too, i.e., furtive looks from white guys who barely made it out of high school that seem to say: "Uh-oh. Another affirmative action hardship case." But at least he's in an objective situation (in sports, performance numbers don't lie). Plus he's making millions. So I don't think he'll get much traction or sympathy with this one.

Comment: Musb has tears rolling down my face. That was classic!

Name: DCGG
Comment: Oh gimme a fuvkin break this ain't nothing new...Blacks IN GENERAL are scrutinized far more than whites...this is America...his azz speaking as if only Quarterbacks are getting it...if you gonna speak out speak out on ALL inequalities...not just what suits you...

Name: BigSexy
Comment: No matter what role we are in, we have work twice a hard and sometimes harder. So yeah, this is not news to us. Musb, you had me cracking up too.

Name: MelodyCool
Comment: DCGG, I was about to say the same thing...it happens in every facet of life where Blacks are concerned. Yesterday I observed a white woman with skin showing and her belly ring exposed in our office and thought how "unacceptable" it would be if it were a black woman. Another thing is whites hate when Blacks notice and comment on their ineptness. They come up with every excuse in the book. Just this morning I heard some professional dissecting the reasons for Britney Spears' disgusting behavior and offering all kinds of excuses like she only has a 9th grade education and is estranged from her family etc etc.

Comment: I just read a news article that says the interview was conducted in August but broadcast for the first time on Tuesday. From myfosdc.com -- "If a question is asked, I'm going to answer it," McNabb said. "I didn't bring it up. The interview wasn't about black-white issues, it was about my life. I didn't do the interview 30 minutes after the game. The tease everybody has seen, they blew it way out of proportion."

Name: MzTee
Comment: And why is this news? Same SH!T, Different Day. He does realize he's living in Amerikka right? (LOL)

Name: TesticAl
Comment: LOL at Herbs!

Name: Dean32
Comment: Donovan WTF, you are making millions of dollars a year to QB a team. Stop crying; if the kitchen is to hot get the f###k out or start playing some real football (losing to Washington, SAD).

Name: Grace
Comment: If I'm not mistaken, some of his criticism(sp?) came from T.O.

Name: Marlin
Comment: I agree. Vince had to have THE BEST GAME I HAVE EVER SEEN when he played for UT.....(HORNS WHOOOOO-HOOOOOO!)lol.lol. But yes, Vince had to do extra extra to prove he was worthy because they were yanking Reggie so hard becasue he went to 'Hollywood University'

Name: TesticAl
Comment: Marlin, Vince was that dude at Texas (GO SC) but Reggie earned everything he got. El Presidente was an absolute beast at USC. "Hollywood University"? LMAO! That's the first time I have ever heard of that. Where are you from? I'm from L.A. and that is the first time I have ever heard that.

Name: TGen
Comment: MsKim20019, your last post brings a lot of much needed clarity. So the interview is old basically and we've fallen for the okey-doke of a bored media apparently. Dean32, I hope this clarification from MsKim is enlightening to you, so you won't think McNabb was "crying," lol. And btw, I don't understand the harshness towards this guy. So now the "kitchen is too hot" for this guy, one of the WINNINGEST QB'S IN THE NFL, Black or White? Wonder why McNabb gets no love. Hmmm...

Name: Marlin
Comment: Moving forward. I think Donovan brought his point up in a manner that was not offensive and why can it not be addressed? It's true and he is more than welcome to reiterate that. Black men (people) don't have to jump through hoops because it is the 'good' thing to do. He is gainfully employed, intelligent, and obviously people want to hear what he has to say. What is the right forum? In Jena Louisiana?

Name: Marlin
Comment: TesticAl> Houston, Texas born and raised..lol. Watched Vince at Madison High and UT...just a fan...lol

Name: Marlin
Comment: USC is a powerhouse no doubt, I have a soft spot for underdogs. And yes, Reggie was and still is a beast.

Name: DoctorSmooth
Comment: Selah... youre so right on the Charlie Weiss thing. After 1 year they give him a 10 year extention worth $30+ million? Crazy. And the success he had those first 2 yrs was with Ty Willinghams's players! Ever since then, I hate Notre Dame and I hope Charlie Weiss continues to fail, and eventually has to resign. Nothing against him personally, but the racial element in how that whole situation was handled is just hard to ignore.

Name: TesticAl
Comment: Marlin, cool. So that's what people in Texas call USC? LOL! Just kidding. At least you're honest about Reggie. No doubt Vince was nice at Texas and he is making his mark with the Titans. He has a bright NFL carrer ahead of him.

Name: barnone
Comment: why is this controversial? b-cuz we all know yt folk cannot handle the truth, no matter how palatable u put it. i 4 1 did not sense any hostility, whining or negativity from the brother. IMO he was just keeping it real. but u know yt folks is used 2 black folk, esp. athletes, acting like steppin fetchin. hell i remeber when i was n college this brother spoke @ the banquet 4 the journalism department and he straight up said "if yt folks get up at 7 u betta get up at 5, if they get up at 5 u betta get up at 3 and if they get up at 3 u betta stay up all night long" this has always been and will always be the black man's/woman's reality n amerikkka, be it NFL, NBA, the media, hellywood, corporate amerikkka. we know we always got 2 stay 3 steps ahead and work 3 x as hard cuz we's the last hired and the first fired. lol my mom's used 2 say that all the time.

Name: Dean32
Comment: TGen, winning is define by the number of Superbowl Rings a Team or QB has in the NFL. No one cares that the team finished 15 of 16 games for the season and lost in the superbowl. Until black QB,s start winning like Tiger in golf joe blow is going to scrutinized ...

Name: barnone
Comment: 4 all who r interested, there's a good article @ fox sports by jason whitlock re: this matter.
