Comment: I am still mad to this day about how these men was snipin around at folks like they didnt have no sense. we dont do stuff like that...

Name: khufu
Comment: comments like NEWSCHOOLPRINESS always are so interesting to me....and the first one today on this topic...and she didnt comment on other stories...hmmmm.... especially this: "we dont do stuff like that..."

Name: StormyMonday
Comment: I'm glad that he was able to apologize to her over the phone. I hate that this happened in the first place. Just goes to show how young people can get caught up and become easily influenced. NewSchoolPrincess, sorry to burst your bubble, but people are people and yes, even Black folk do messed-up stuff as well. I remember what folk said about Jeffery Dalhmer....we (Black folk) don't eat people. In this day and age, I don't put anything passed anyone, I don't care what their skin hue may be or their race.

Comment: You always hating on people khufu. why you wont let me say what i feel and shake your head and keep it moving. i will probably never agree with to much of what you say but thats only because we probably have opposite up bringings and differnt out looks on life. its ok to totally disagree with me but dont patronize me every time i make a comment. its rude. lol. your ok with me khufu your just to quick to fight.

Name: One2Adore
Comment: I live in the DC/MD/VA area. This was the scariest time I've ever experienced. A couple of the shootings happened near where I work. Folks were cautious to always keep moving. Getting gas was the worst because that's where some of the shootings took place. While people were pumping gas, they'd get shot. Police would come from everywhere. They'd close all the beltway exits. Traffic would be dead stopped. You never knew if the sniper(s) was in the vehicle next to you or not. Truly a scary time.

Comment: It's so weird, I was JUST thinking about this sniper case the other day, wondering about that young guy and his "mentor." Funny, stuff like that seems to happen to me a lot, I think about a random event and next thing I know there's a new story on it! Hmmm. Anyway, on the context of the article, wow. I could only imagine what that lady felt like when she answered that phone! I think her response was respectable, Fred Goldman could take some lessons from her on how to deal with bereavement for sure. The main part that irked me about the article was this: "She hopes Malvo will follow through on a promise he made during the call to write to her.! Aaarrgh! That's like when someone says, "I have something to tell you...but I can't tell you." lol Dontcha just hate that ish?! Torture! Terrible way to end this article. But I digress...

Comment: NUE NUE I dont hate I attack ideologies why? I believe that we as Black folks are being warred upon.... and wars begins with ideology..... with that in mind, I attack ideas... you call it hatin...okay.... Im a hater of ignorance, complacency, lies, stupidity, Ima hater of ideas and concepts and strategies that attack and subjugate Black people I like my hatin nature

Name: khufu
Comment: with that in mind: the white racist system plants ideoligcal agents......historically, they are planted ANYWHERE where the possibility of Black unity based on liberation and unity exists..... so now, historically anytime a Black person %*$ertively uses military methods or becomes militarily pro-active, THEY CRUSH IT SO...these brothers were snipers right? Is sniping wrong? ANSWER: Not if youre sniping for white people in the military or the police force, right? Okay, do you REALLY know anything about these brothers? ANS: no. We only know what they told us. In any event, white folks cant afford to have Black people randomly shooting people, right? Especially not for a political cause. SO what do they do...any opprotuntiy they get DISSUADE IT. Hence NEWSCHOOLPRINCESS' comment WE DONT DO THINGS LIKE THAT

Name: khufu
Comment: Now I am not condoning what these brothers did....actually the major problem I have with them is that they shot Black folks.. what I am saying is everything exists within a social, historical and political context and this does as well... actually my question is, after 400 years of oppression, why havent Black folks imitated yt in that regard i.e. committing military acts against their oppressor they way YT does? I really can understand brothers going off in America...it would be the natural and human thing to do..and yet we dont "It's like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder...."

Name: Luke_Cage
Comment: One2Adore, I lived in the Fairfax area of Va during the time of the shootings and the closest it got to us was when one of the shootings occurred in Falls Church. You're right. It was a very VERY scary time. I refused to let my wife get gas. If she was running low, I told her I'll go get it. You're not going anywhere near a gas pump until these knuckleheads are caught. And the way they were caught, simply sleeping at a rest stop, was unbelievable! So much paranoia at that time. Coming on the heels of 9/11, folks thought that Al Quaeda or some terrorist group was behind the shootings.

Name: oshun
Comment: i like you, khufu!

Name: Snicker
Comment: ---->NewSchoolPrincess actually it wasn't men snipin around it was one man and a kid he brainwashed into doing those horrible killings.....even though i feel malvo should have gotten jail time of course for his part but i was glad that he didn't get the death penalty but that muhummad dude they should have executed on sight....he was a predatory snake who manipulated and used a troubled kid to carry out hateful acts to innocent people.

Name: khufu
Comment: and you oshun... harriet tubman, the great African emancipator said: I woulda freed mo' slaves if they only knew dey wuz slaves

Comment: Khufu - on the real, sadly your speak and what you bring is just too far above the knowledge base of many Black people today. It's unfortunate but what you speak of is the exact reason why Blacks are at the bottom of just about every scio-economic statistic you can measure. We are the only group who does not function as a "group". And you are correct, most of this starts with the damaged mentality many Blacks exhibit towards their own people. When said and done Black people will relise that WE have been our own worse enemies. So many of the outside forces you reference would be rendered impotent if simply Black folk put our families back in order. A strong sister Shahrazad Ali said years ago that until we put our households back in order we will not be able to stand against any outside forces and the words were quite prophetic.

Name: khufu
Comment: SHahradzad..LOL..I knew her way back when...anyway.... FYI.. Mind control is a general term for a number of controversial theories and/or techniques designed to subvert an individual's control of their own thinking, behavior, emotions, or decisions. However, rather than mere psychological conditioning, many mind control 'experiments', like the CIA MK-Ultra projects[1], have focused primarily on physical violence or torture as the principal methods to force victims to do what they do not want to do. Physical torture, nevertheless, affects the functioning of the victims' nervous systems including the brain. Forms of torture that may affect the nervous system include beatings, gunshot wounds, stab wounds, asphyxiation, prolonged suspension and electrocution. [2] The feasibility of such control and the methods by which it might be attained (either direct or more subtle) are subject to debate among psychologists, neuroscientists, and sociologists. Also, the exact definition of mind control and the extent to which it might have any kind of influence over individuals are debated. The different views on the subject do have legal implications. For example, mind control was an issue in the court case of Patty Hearst, and in several court cases involving New Religious Movements. Also, questions of mind control are regarding ethical questions linked to the subject of free will.[citation needed] The question of mind control has been discussed in conjunction with religion, politics, prisoners of war, totalitarianism, neural cell manipulation, cults, terrorism, torture, parental alienation, and even battered person syndrome.

Comment: Lifton thought reform model In his 1961 book Thought Reform and the Psychology of Totalism: A Study of "Brainwashing" in China, psychiatrist Robert Jay Lifton, M.D., describes eight coercive methods which, he says, are able to change the minds of individuals without their knowledge and were used with this purpose on prisoners of war in Korea and China. These include:[1] * Milieu Control. This involves the control of information and communication both within the environment and, ultimately, within the individual, resulting in a significant degree of isolation from society at large. * Mystical Manipulation. There is manipulation of experiences that appear spontaneous but in fact were planned and orchestrated by the group or its leaders in order to demonstrate divine authority or spiritual advancement or some special gift or talent that will then allow the leader to reinterpret events, scripture, and experiences as he or she wishes.

Name: khufu
Comment: * Loading the Language. The group interprets or uses words and phrases in new ways so that often the outside world does not understand. This jargon consists of thought-terminating clichés, which serve to alter members' thought processes to conform to the group's way of thinking. * Doctrine over person. Member's personal experiences are subordinated to the sacred science and any contrary experiences must be denied or reinterpreted to fit the ideology of the group. * Dispensing of existence. The group has the prerogative to decide who has the right to exist and who does not. This is usually not literal but means that those in the outside world are not saved, unenlightened, unconscious and they must be converted to the group's ideology. If they do not join the group or are critical of the group, then they must be rejected by the members. Thus, the outside world loses all credibility. In conjunction, should any member leave the group, he or she must be rejected also. In his 1999 book Destroying the world to save it: Aum Shinrikyo, Apocalyptic Violence and the New Global Terrorism, he concluded that thought reform was possible without violence or physical coercion.

Comment: Mindcontrol...mass hypnosis.....dont believe me....LOL check out the continual conversations over there about sex food clothes losing weight shopping and other trivial sheet

Name: MistaO
Comment: No doubt, but check it, you can only save those willing and ready to be saved. I see far too many of "us" who honestly don't want and resist knowledge of self. It's almost to the point of just rolling with those who have their eyes open because the fools whether in the streets or in the board rooms are poision to other well intentioned Black people. I keep um at arms lenght, brother or not, if that mind aint right you have to watch um like a hawk.

Comment: NewSchoolPrincess > I agree with your first posts. It upsets me as well.

Name: mcctusk
Comment: KHUFU>> while it is certainly true that there are ALOT of brothers that routinely exhibit 'displaced aggression' against each other (Black on Black crime) as a cumulative response to centuries of oppression, it is invalid in this case unless you know for a fact that was Mohammad's motivation. Like the great social commentator Chris Rock once said.."what happened to crazy? People can't be crazy anymore?" I'm saying, maybe the brother was just out of his mind. Also, I wouldn't include losing weight as being trivial, especially since I also hear people saying they NEED to lose weight for health reasons.

Comment: Hopefully both can forgive and stay in prayer.

Comment: The thing that made me mad about this story was that as bad as it was, in D.C. we who live in the black neighborhoods had undergone years and years of daily shootings, killings and worse. Both intentional and unintentional to whoever got shot. Drive-bys, you name it. What peed me off was the way the media handled this story like this was something that was so new or unusual. There were plenty of thugs that were doing this when you add it all up however you look at it, we were being terrorized in DC for years and not once did I ever hear the public demand by professionals for us to get psychologists and more like they did for this, though that is what would have been nice for us to have to try to deal with the trauma of it all during the 70s and 80s and 90s. I got really angry of the double standard of how they treated this story compared to what we had to do to survive in DC on the daily. Even to this day.

Name: khufu
Comment: MC..I dont disagree HOWEVER same could be said of the opposing view: "why do you assume that they didnt have political motives unless you know them?" you only know what media reported> The same way some would use the history of displaced agression )Black on Black crime) to justify that likelihood that is was just a crazy azz act I say: use the history of white cultural supremacy and racism to say: Hmmm...let me look at this in a larger context and therefore I dont automatically uphold the positions of the dominant white cultural society as indicated in the statement: Name: NewSchoolPrincess Comment: I am still mad to this day about how these men was snipin around at folks like they didnt have no sense. we dont do stuff like that...

Name: khufu
Comment: okay let's do this: NewSchoolPrincess what is your position on Brothers or sisters serving as sniper's in the US military? NOTE: again I am not condoning what the brother's did......... my argument is that if some brothers decided that they wanted to go to Jena and snipe some white folks, would they be right or wrong? If brothers sniped those yt's who raped that sister in W Virginia, would that be a crime or an act or war? Would they be deemed criminal or freedom fighters?

Name: Snicker
Comment: >>>>TMan i live in the dc area as well and though this was a scary time but you're right it was no different than any other time for black people....we put our lives in jeopardy leaving out every day not knowing when a stray bullet would hit us or when one would pierce our windows and take us out.

Name: KILLERMEG
Comment: This is too deep. I dont know that I would have been able to talk to the man who killed my father.

Name: seventhson
Comment: khufu, you had me up until you said "the major problem [you] have with them is that they shot Black folks." I'm all for fighting white supremecy, but not with black supremecy. And it is supremecistic to believe that the value of life is dependent upon the color of one's skin. Moreover, the end to violence has never been more violence.

Name: khufu
Comment: seventhson.....okay

Name: gingerg
Comment: It's like Malcolm X once said, we USED to be able to say what we wouldn't do, but now.... anything goes and people think about the consequences after the fact, like the sister up in Cleveland who drowned her two young daughters last week.

Name: khufu
Comment: MCC...and you raise excellent point: of course he was out his mind, ater 400 years of what we been throw---again, it's a miracle more Black foks aint killing more white folks, wouldnt you say? however, I say if he wasnt, and he point the gun at a yt person and had any political motive, would you be out his mind then?

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: TMan > You are correct! DC was a scary place to live. I say was because I have never gone back. You hear gunshots all the time. I thought to myself how could there be so much crime in the White House back yard! Each President should have been ashamed that there yard was not cleaned.

Name: gingerg
Comment: ladybyrd, what about georgetown? Is that safe and how far is it from dc?

Comment: One2Adore - I live 2500+ miles away from you and our city was even scared to go to the gas station! So I don't know how you all did it. I would not have gone to the gas station period. I would have rode the train or something. I know they shot (killed) a bus driver so I would have been scared to catch the bus too. We weren't even over 9/11 and then this starts. We were losing our minds.

Comment: I heard about this on the radio yesterday, I felt a overwhelming pain in my heart for this woman and every vitcim of the sniper attack. I lost my dad to cancer two years ago and I know that everyday I still think about him, but I couldn't EVER imagine loosing a loved one in this manner. It's a difficult thing to have to go through life asking "why did this have to happen?" and not having an answer. I am glad that Ms. Witz finally received the closure that she needed and maybe had every question that she had answered.

Name: oshun
Comment: ok now who had to bring shaharazad ali (sp?) into this?! off topic but, my male friend and i were just having a heated debate about her. my take: she may have good things to say, but she has forever in my mind lost credibility with the infamous "open-handed-smack-in-the-mouth" blunder. no getting around that. no way. his take: she has a lot of valid points. yeah? so does david duke on israel, but...

Name: khufu
Comment: Okay here is scenario that doesnt apply to Malvo but I want to prove a point: A Black man named John Seagugull, bright, educated and well to do one day decides that he can no longer tolerate the racism that white folks have exhibited towards Black people for the last four hundred years. In the spirit of Nat Turner, he decides he is going to start killing white people...randomly. SO in a cool, collected. logical and rational manner he starts to kills YT a week. THESIS: Most Black people would say that this Black man is off his rocker...insane and a criminal....

Name: khufu
Comment: Scenario 2: DIfferent choice Same Black man John Seagull, decides one day that he is going to enlist in the US military and becomes a MArine....there he is trained to kill and then he is sent to Vietnam or Iraq (take your pick). As a soldier he kills people. People who have never done anything to him. THESIS: Most Black people would not call him insane but would support that his actions were both "his job" and quite American......
