Comment: First of all, I just want to say I have never heard of such ignorance! Only a person that thrives off of drama and likes to cause conflict would host such nonsense! Where did they come up with such a ridiculous idea? What type of audience did they think they would attract? I am a lighter shade of brown! My mother was a very dark skinned woman, and my father is very light skinned. What sets us apart? Our minds and our character! My family, as most African American families has an array of skin colors! Who, in this day and age doesn't remember the struggle we, as black folks, have strived and worked so hard "to be judged, not by the color of our skin, but the content of our character"? Stop the ignorance! It's useless, and such an outrageous thought! You all, whoever you are should be ashamed!

Comment: This is the legacy of slavery and the Willie Lynch Letter. It's a shame we can't get over it, but as long as our youth dumb themselves down by watching rap videos that put Latinas and light-skinned sisters on a pedestal and by listening to music that promotes the worst in us instead of the best in us, then there is little chance that we as a people will educate ourselves and evolve past this foolishness.

Comment: jazzfan> We'll never get 'over' it until we acknowledge and teach the good, the bad and ugly of our history. Somewhere, the baby boom generation dropped the ball and now we are stuck with the fall out. We can't just blame our young folks for promoting these types of negative ideas. Our elders, whether we want to admit it or not, are partly to blame. You always hear stories of how children are favored over the other based on skin color, particularly if they are of a lighter hue. This has gone on for decades and sadly, some of us still continue the cycle. Until we stop deingrating each other and learn to love ourselves individually and collectively, we will continue to battle this kind of nonsense.
