Comment: Come on now Jasymne..as soon as he meets with you he'll be pummelled in the press..we have Fred Thompson classifying himself as the "real conservative" which is catch phrase for anti gay; anti abortion; basically running the same campaign Reagan and Bush ran..you know the Black community; you know it well so why are you and Hutchinson bashing this man for not kowtowing to the gay mafia?

Comment: Hmmmm... I like your article Jasmyne and you definitely made me think about a lot of things. The only problem I have with your suggestion of Obama meeting with the gay community is that he will definitely loss the support of the black church community and therein lies the conundrum. What to do?

Why are you trying to literally destroy Obama's campaign because he won't denounce Donnie McClurkin who in my estimation still has a right to speak his mind on something that he OBVIOUSLY knows something about!!

Comment: Jasmine, What your diary conveniently omits is that Senator Obama was the first Democratic candidate to accept the invitation to appear at the so-called 'Gay Debate' a few months ago, which I'm guessing wasn't widely watched in African American households. He's also spoken at several Black churches throughout the South denouncing homophobia in the Black church and African American community. He belongs to a church that welcomes gays. Jasmine, we all know that by-and-large most African Americans leave by the credo "hate the sin but love the sinner". And it doesn't matter how much the LGBT Community or White progressives denounce this "intolerant" attitude, it is firmly tied to our community's Christians beliefs and nothing is going to change that. Homosexuality will never be accepted as more than a "tolerable" sin. African Americans were willing to turn a blind eye to Bill Clinton's political pragmatism, notably his relationship with William Fulbright, a life-long segregationist. He never hesitated to cart Fulbright out on the campaign trail to sure up the bubba vote. If we can give a White man that much lattitude in order to win, why can't we do the same for a brotha'? By not doing so, we, Black folks, are effectively holding a brotha' to a higher standard than a White man.

Comment: Good Post Winn! I am not at all sure why when one speaks against homosexuality we are homophobic. I'm not scared of gays nor is Donnie McClurkin obviously. Because of what he went through as a child and the lifestyle he lived after that, he more than anyone has a right to speak on it and if it comes off as bashing well, I guess those are just YOUR filters. Obama has said numerous times that he supports all people and even if he didn't in his place I wouldn't be fukkin' around with gays or their vote for fear that I would never be loosed from some half flung promise. Y'all need to find something more productive to do than blackmailing the candidates cause I see more christian votes being cast just to be sure Obama doesn't bow down to the gay mafia.

Comment: After what black women have done to the image of black men in this country? HA! HA! Who would hire a black man to run the country? Besides, being president is not even an honorable job anymore, especially after what the dem. party did to the rep. party. All the presidential campain is about is who can get a bigger gang. Hillary is appearing in black face all over the south and transforming into a "white woman" in Iowa; while Obama is starting to bend at the pressures of being politically correct. This sort of behavior makes me proud to be a Republican.
